My last post said that i received some cotton yarn, and i started my first project with that.
So what am i waiting for....

SUMMER HEADBAND
History
I named it "Summer Headband" as the colorway of the yarn used is "Summer Splash". When i received my first cotton yarn, i wanted a small project to try the yarn and its feel and a headband seemed to be the perfect fit.

Yarn: Lily Sugar'n cream Ombres in "Summer Splash"
Needles: 5mm (4mm DP for Icord)
Size made: 20 inches including ties

Pattern: Arrowhead lace Headband by Persnickety Knitter

Notes: The original pattern doesn't has Icord ties but says to stitch the two ends.

I used plastic needles to knit, i think the metal ones are preferable when working with cotton.
Yet to block it, blocking might actually open the lacy pattern.

If i make it again
I will make it 2 inches less in length, the lace pattern is very strechy.
Use a solid colored yarn, as the changing colors dominate the pattern.

Learnt: Making I-cords using double pointed needles

Time: May be done in a day. I streached it over 5 days, knitting only few rows per day.

I am not much into wearing headbands (expect once in a while), so i may not use it and the colors are a bit too bright for me to wear. I have seen another pattern for headband, i am planning to make it in mute colored sportweight acrylic yarn which i may use.

"Per the press release: On September 4, 2008, Louis Vuitton opens an impermanent store inside Comme des Garçons in Tokyo. The idea for the project emerged from the memories of Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo. In 1978, as a young designer, she saw the first Louis Vuitton store to open in Japan and was fascinated by the image of French craftsmanship and art de vivre it projected – a luxury that seemed to her, at the time, unattainable. Three decades on, Rei Kawakubo wanted to revisit her impressions, and so the association between Comme des Garçons and Louis Vuitton was born.

Intriguingly, Louis Vuitton is celebrating this year its 30th anniversary in Japan. Rei Kawakubo has dedicated and re-designed the entire Comme des Garcons store on Kottodori, Omotesando especially for Louis Vuitton for the duration of the project, from 4th September through mid-December, into a space that will be a celebration of the Louis Vuitton Monogram. The fruit of this unprecedented collaboration – an exclusive collection of six one-off bags – will be presented in a minimalist space, at the centre of which will be a display of historic Louis Vuitton trunks. Inspired by her memories, Rei Kawakubo chose the legendary Monogram canvas to create two Party bags, small evening purses with outsized natural leather handles. The designer also customized two classic Louis Vuitton bags, endowing the Papillon with kawaii (cute) animal charms and the Mini HL with multiple slender handles. Lastly, Louis Vuitton is reediting two iconic designs from the 1970s – the Petit Marceau and the Sac 2 Poches – which Rei Kawakubo is likely to have seen in the windows of that first Louis Vuitton store.

The bags will only be available upon order, which is only to be placed at the “Louis Vuitton at Comme des Garçons store”. No telephone or Internet orders will be taken. In return, customers will receive a certificate inside a special card holder in Louis Vuitton’s traditional natural leather, embossed with the Louis Vuitton at Comme des Garçons signature. Long time ago i posted that i finally shipped my package for the Mini-Purse swap on Ravelry.

Finally my swap pack reached its spoilee (recepient)....The Package has to reach Olympia (Washington state, USA) so it took more than 15 days. But I am happy that it reached sound and safe and my Spoilee liked the contents.
This is my first swap and i loved it to the bits... much more when it reached the recepient.
Here are the details...
BLUE KNIT PURSE

History
I wanted to make the Drops tote ( crochet), but somehow i was not comfortable with the shape after halfway through. So i shifted to another yarn and decided on a knitted purse. I wanted the stockinette Band only on one side and that too horizontally, but i think i casted on too many stitches and had to use my creativity a bit to avoid frogging.
The whole thing turned out good and i liked it so much; on top of it.. this is my first knitted purse.

Yarn: Around 75gms of local acrylic yarn (probably wrosted weight) in hank in blue (Spent a lot time untangling it and winding into a ball :-))
Needles: 5.5mm Needles
Others: Round Plastic Handles, Tapestry needle and any other stuff to decorate the purse
Gauge: No need to take care of gauge unless a specific size is needed
Size: It will comfortably carry wallet, keys and phone.
Pattern:
The purse is made using a rectangle peice knitted with 2 strands of yarn through out. To attach the handles no seperate peice is knitted, the knitted fabric is folded over the handle and sewed from inside.

CO 60 sts.
Knit 35 rows in seed st.
Knit 15 rows in stockinette.
Knit 10 rows in seed st.

Fold the peice such that the stockinette band is on both sides of the purse.
Join the sides such that the WS of stockinette is inside.
Attach the Handles.
Emblish the stockinette band as desired.

Notes:
Simple.. yes it is (but the seed st really tested my patience)
It is cute to carry, No need of lining as the seed st keeps the bag firm.

If i make it again;
i will try to use cane handles and emblish the stockinette band with some embroidery.

Learnt: Attaching handles without much fuss.
Time: I took almost 3.5 weeks to do it as i cant knit much on weekdays.
