It mainly discusses what every boss tries to overcome in any business.  Here is the neat thing I like about this article.  It can be used as a road map on how to operate out in the world.  It's quite simple.  In the article, heck any book that one reads on a related subject, talks about layers.  Layers.  Everything has layers to it.  People are layers.  Really, we are just because we all have had a different up bringing in life.  Each one of our life experiences - builds to the next.  What does that mean?  You'll never see it and you'll never know it. 

It also asks a person to be watchful.  This goes back to the whole observing I have been talking about - ie with Nature.  What do we live in?  Why do we call it "environment"?  It is what it is. If you want to be PC all the time and not live beyond the realm of possibility, then you better watch and observe and analyze. Otherwise the layers around you could crumble.  If the layers around you crumble, without a doubt, the layers crumble elsewhere.  Simple logic.

Try to reapply what you learn in one area, to the next.  No, it won't be the same or have the same affect, because it may need to be adjusted. It is only a way of giving skills, to give building blocks.  Good knowledge equals good living.  Good living equals wisdom.

Well, you see the additional headline about people who speak out.  The FBI's quote is above too -- so -- umm -- yeah -- Why in the world was Sen. Kennedy's name up on the list?  Isn't he "politics"?? UMMM --

The humor in this is killn' me here with the "deny, deny, deny" -- the noose/general indication of some people on "the LIST" is seeming like a precursor to continuous - other underhanded -- dirty pool.  Ha!

It was 1993 and I was wandering the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. Having had a successful first international business trip, and having had the wherewithal to ditch my boss and co-worker. But I’d heard that the Japanese massages were the best and I thought, “What the heck! Why not finish the evening with a massage and head back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.” He led me up some stairs and through some rice paper paneled doors to the front counter. After some haggling, which in retrospect ended in me paying way more than I should have, my guide left and I was whisked into a massage room; nicely decorated with a Japanese art and outfitted with a bed and shower. My masseuse came in an introduced herself as Hitome. She was cute and probably not much older than 18; your typical good looking Japanese girl, dressed in a kimono, with a nice figure, smooth white skin, small breasts, pretty smile. She spoke very little English and she led me first to the shower. Now I had been warned about the service girls in Japan and how it was typical to find them in the men’s restrooms (in fact, I’d experienced that already on this trip) or in the public baths that the Japanese so love. So, I was not too surprised when Hitome stepped into the shower with me. I was a bit surprised that she didn’t expect me to do the washing as she lathered me up. AMPs - Your Local Asian Massage Parlor

Your local Asian massage parlor, or AMP as its known in the mongering world, is just that…local. You don’t actually think you live somewhere where there’s no prostitution activities going on do you? If you do, I challenge you to do a little research. It’s not just Shinjuku in Japan or Itaewon in Korea or Shanghai in China where a man can be treated like an indulgent king for an hour. It is likely that within 20 miles of your home that there are AMPs that will service you for a price. You may be surprised to find a place right around the corner from you. Like there is a Chinese Restaurant in every city in the world, there is also an Asian massage parlor. OK, so I exaggerate a bit. I have had trouble locating AMPs in some cities both in the U.S. and abroad but generally speaking, there’s an AMP near you.

For the purpose of this discussion, I will limit myself to commercial locations within the U.S. I’ll talk about international massage in another chapter and I’ll discuss private residence massages in yet another.

How do you find out where your local AMP is? Well, first you should know that AMPs are not keen on advertising in the yellow pages or in your mainstream newspaper. Most likely you will find AMP advertisements in your local alternative newspaper. The Silicon Valley in California has The Metro which is a perfect example. Others include The East Bay Express, the SF Bay Guardian, and The Santa Cruz Sentinel. All papers will have their own publishing rules so you may have to be a bit crafty in your research. If you look in the classified advertisements in your regional alternative newspaper you will find a lot of ads for massage or “relaxation”. Now AMPs don’t last very long if they’re not careful so you may not see the same establishment advertised every week. Some AMPs may simply not advertise at all but rely on word-of-mouth to bring in clientele. Sometimes they’ve relocated and bring their clientele with them. If they don’t advertise, one may find them by simply driving through the poorer sections of town and looking for salons or spas in strip malls. An AMP will never declare “Massage with happy ending here!”, so don’t bother looking for that. However, if you are driving by and see a Salon that is run by Asians and advertises “Massage”, “Facials”, or “Relaxation” in their front window, jot down the phone number (it’ll be there) for further investigation.

Now you’ve done your research and found some phone numbers you suspect might be sexual “service provider” AMPs near your home or office. How do you find out for sure? There are three basic questions to determine whether you’re talking to a legitimate massage business or a front for prostitution; (1) When you call, is the phone answered by a woman with a thick Asian accent?, (2) Are they open for business past 7:00 PM?, (3) Do you have to make an appointment or can you just drop in? If you are talking to a woman who barely speaks English, stays open until 10:00 PM, and takes drop in appointments, you have most likely discovered an AMP.

I will try to explain the general act of discovery that you must go through to engage in illegal activity inside an AMP. All AMPs will differ slightly in the way they do business and they will also provide different levels of service depending on their business practices and their “rules of the house”. Generally speaking, here is what to expect. When you walk in, you will encounter either the manager of the house (mamasan) or the actual masseuse. The two may be very different in looks so if what you’re seeing is not someone you’d want touching your body, clarify with a question like, “Are you doing the massage?” If the answer is “yes” and the lady is old enough to be your grandmother, you may want to have an excuse ready for a quick getaway. I’ve found that “I forgot to go to the ATM! Where’s the nearest bank?”, is a great one. Most of these places will have a charge for ½ hour and 1 hour…usually $40 and $60. You will be led to a room with either a massage table or a bed made up like a massage table, told to undress and make your way to the shower. Bear in mind that there is no discussion of sex or anything like that and that most likely the walls will be plastered with warnings that “Requesting sexual favors will be dealt with by eviction from the premises”. Now some men I know are more aggressive and test the waters immediately by groping the masseuse immediately after closing the door. Bold! I’ve never been one to try that unless initiated by the masseuse first and that’s pretty rare unless you’ve developed a relationship over time. I’ve always been one to enjoy the massage and leave the sexual gratification for the last 10-15 minutes. So when you have finished your shower and return to the room to lie down, usually face down, you most likely still won’t know if anything sexual will be offered or can be requested. Here are some signs to watch and feel for; (1) A legitimate masseuse will probably start with a certain pressure and then ask if it’s too much or too little. An AMP will typically ask before if you like it hard, medium or light. The light touch is the giveaway. I find it is simply a tickling, teasing touch that can be really arousing. A legitimate masseuse knows this, doesn’t want to deal with your tent pole, and therefore won’t offer it. (2) A legitimate masseuse will be super careful with your towel covering. An AMP will be loose with the towel often reaching beyond its boundaries or allowing it to slip out of place or off completely. If you want to test, you can ignore the towel and lie down butt naked. How the masseuse reacts to seeing your bare ass as she walks into the room can be quite telling. (3) A legitimate masseuse will never make the mistake of accidentally brushing her nails against your penis or balls. An AMP may do so in an attempt to cautiously tell you she’s up for more, while hiding behind the “accidental touch” in case you’re a vice cop. (4) A legitimate masseuse will never massage your butt and will never run her fingers and nails down your crack to tease your ass a little. If that’s what you feel when you’re lying on your stomach, all that’s left is the negotiation. (5) If you want to set your mind at ease, as well as hers, test the waters a little with some polite groping (oxymoron, I know!). My favorite test when lying face down is to wait for her to be standing at your head, massaging your shoulders. Casually reach around and grab her ass. See how she reacts. What’s the worst that can happen? I guess she could storm out of the room and tell you to leave but it’s never happened to me. If all the other signs are there, the worst that can happen is that she walks to another spot or she firmly takes your hands and places them back on the table. By testing the waters you’ve set your mind at ease (you know what’s coming and you can lay back and enjoy the massage) and you’ve set her mind at ease (she is now convinced you are not a vice cop).

Now when you’re in this position where the girl has given you a light touch massage and caressed your butt and possibly played with your ass a bit, that’s the time when she’ll ask you to turn over. Obviously at this point, the two of you may have a conversation piece to discuss. Still the masseuse will most likely flutter her fingers around your cock and balls without making real contact. The masseuse will then tease and negotiate for her services. The negotiation for services usually takes place with hand signals because, whether it’s true or not, the girl wants the man to think that the owner (or mamasan) does not condone this type of behavior. There are usually three levels of service; Level one is a hand job or “happy ending”. Level two is a blowjob or oral sex. Level three involves a little level two and then on to a good fuck. After the session is complete, the masseuse will typically bring in a hot towel and clean you up. She may or may not massage you a little more. Most of the time she won’t agree to meet you outside the AMP but it’s not unheard of. And if she sees you in public later (very rare), she won’t let on that she knows you.

Fun Fact “Line-Ups”: If you go to an AMP that has a line-up (that’s where you enter and there are several girls lined up to greet you) you have found a sexual service provider. There won’t be much testing or discovery to be done. Most likely you’ll enter the massage room and the girl will ask you what you want. She’ll have a price that may or may not be negotiable but you should try. Then it’s off to the races…literally. You most likely won’t get a very long massage unless you’ve already discussed it with her in advance. There are advantages and disadvantages to the line-up places. I happen to like the massage part which involves a lot of teasing and makes me very hot and horny. Getting straight to business may or may not appeal to you. You should however, negotiate everything. For example, if all you want is a hand job or blow job, don’t assume you have negotiated for her to be topless, or naked, or even that you can touch her. Make sure you’ve negotiated for that if that’s what you’re expecting. Line up places are hard to find in the suburbs. To find these, you’ll most likely need to go to a large city like San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York.

The AMP workers are often Vietnamese, Chinese, Taiwanese or Thai. It is more rare but not unthinkable to see Filippina, Japanese or Korean AMPs too. If you have any experience with the various Asian cultures, you will know they generally look and act very differently so there is a choice according to one’s taste.

5 tips for successful AMP mongering:

1) Do your research ahead of time. Find the potential places and make a few phone calls. Use the three questions above to identify the place you want to visit. Don’t block caller ID on your phone.

This work is part of my research on non-places, places of transit, displacement in relation to Marc Augé's perception analyzed in "Non-Places, an Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity". My interest in these places is when you stop or erase the movements or the elements that connect them to us. Then, they start to float, they become suspended, dis-connected and turn into this prophetical evocation of spaces described by Augé.

In the video work I presented I've worked with superimposition of video layers with 1 frame delay. In the final result there is up to 10.000 video layers and the work as been presented as a triptych of 1'03'' projected in loop. While each video shows subtle changes in light, colours and shadows of individual movements, the triptych bring them in an uniform composition, erasing all identity or particularity. A certain boredom comes out of the repetition of this 1min video, but is necessary to avoid narration. This double repetition leads to a certain temporal suspension.

Ieri seara am fost la o petrecere speciala, la un banquet. Au fost aproape saizeci de elevi si doua zeci si ceva de profesori cu directori si dirigintele celor doua clase organizatoare. Am sa incerc sa fiu cat mai scurt, atat necesar cat sa pot ajunge la subiect. Baietii la costume, fetele foarte bine aranjate astfel incat totul a fost frumos si ne-am distrat. Am organizat cate ceva cum ar fi o proba de dans(eu si cu draga mea profesoara de filosofie am fost numiti a fi buni la categoria blues:D), karaoke si un discurs foarte frumos realizat in stil licean de o fata de la clasa cealalta mai sa imi dea lacrimile(dar eu m-am abtinut, un coleg de-al meu nu a putut face asta). Here in the Rift Valley you cannot walk 20 feet or drive a mile without seeing an example of how God created the African woman. No wonder every boy over the age of 12 has gawked at a National Geographic magazine featuring topless African women. I don't think it has as much to do with the ease of getting our hands on NatGeo (in comparison with Playboy) but more with the fact that the breasts depicted in the magazine are perfect and flawless and without alteration. I wish I'd been here 100 years ago when the African women still walked around without clothing their upper bodies. These days, while they are not exposed, the African women often give us every opportunity to imagine what they'd look like without tops. Sometimes this is a matter of not being able to afford a bra but often it's a matter of not needing one. Don't forget that here, the obsession is with legs...breasts are quite normal and often seen quite a lot if you're around a nursing mother. Even the seemingly dangerous (to the perk and lift that is) nursing does not seem to take away from the beauty of the African breast. I challenge anyone to find a culture or people that has as good looking a breast. Am I obsessed? Damn right I am. I see those pert nipples threatening to poke through a blouse or shirt and my jaw drops and I am mesmerized. I can't help it and although I wish I could, I also wish to enjoy the art and fashion show that is my life and a tribute to the beautiful, brown, pert, shapely, African breast. Come for the scenery. It truly is the "cradle of life" and there are many sights here you will want to cradle along your way!

Author’s Experience: I used to read the “Missed Connections” section in the newspapers and then later on Craigslist just for amusement purposes. Some are really funny!
