BUSH HANDS LEBANON TO ISLAMISTS- Christians with enough money to do so are fleeing Lebanon, as Druse and Christian militias plead with the Bush Administration for arms to fight the Islamists. In reality the fight is over and the Bush Administration is so distracted with the prospect of Israel giving up land for a Palestinian state that they don't realize Lebanon is lost.

Sheik Yazeeb Khader, A West Bank political activist, does understand what Bush does not. This week he said, ""What happened in Gaza in 2007 is an achievement; now it is happening in 2008 in Lebanon. It's going to happen in 2009 in Jordan and it's going to happen in 2010 in Egypt." He continued, "We are seeing a redrawing of the map of the Middle East where the forces of resistance and steadfastness are the ones moving the things on the ground."

He is right; once Bush allows Lebanon to fall, land locked Jordan will be next. Full Story.

GOODBYE HILLARY? - Virtually all the pundits now declare that the Democrats have their nominee and it is time for Hillary Clinton to step aside for Barack Obama. One voice calling for her to withdraw is that of Senator Ted Kennedy. Yet, when he ran for president in 1980 he refused to step aside even though he was 500 delegate votes behind Gov. Jimmy Carter. He carried his campaign to the floor of the convention. Senator Obama says he will have the delegates needed by May 20th to tell Hillary bye bye.

Keine Erinnerung daran, was Deutsche getan haben.

April 1979 in Olympia, Washington/USA geboren.

Its highlights are disclosed here with DEBKAfile’s comments.

The Palestinian leader has circulated guidelines for three million Palestinians to leave their homes on the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon on May 14 and march on Israel’s borders, including the Green Line. If Israel obstructs their passage, they will strike camp and live in tents until Israel surrenders and lets them through.

This stunt will be accompanied by pressure from the Palestinian Authority on international organizations to force Israel to implement UN Resolution 194, passed by the General Assembly on Dec. 11, 1948.

2. All returnees must bring their tents and other goods with them. If obstructed by Israeli forces from reaching their land, they must set up their tents on the border and stay there until Israel surrenders and allows them to cross.

[The plan is to deploy hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in tent cities indefinitely on all of Israel’s borders.]

3. Jewish friends are called upon to assist in resolving the Palestinian refugee problem.

4. Arab governments and friends all over the world are called on to support the logistics of the operation.

5. Palestinian holders of foreign citizenships, especially US and European, are to charter planes for flights to Israel or neighboring countries on May 14, 2008, as well reserving passage on tens of ships to dock at Israeli ports on this date.

6. Personal invitations will be extended to all world leaders for their support.

7.
The document ends with an appeal to the Arab nation, especially the Saudi King Abdullah, to support the operation politically, diplomatically and materially.

DEBKAfile’s Palestinian sources report that Mahmoud Abbas intends to submit his ambitious master plan to the summit of Arab rulers meeting in Damascus March 29.

There is no knowing how much support he will win from Arab governments or whether the different Palestinian communities will rise to his call. The whole plan may simply fold for lack of response – or not. Abbas’ main objectives appear to be to upstage the warlike Hamas and throw a wet blanket over Israel’s anniversary celebrations.

bs"d

Six Qassam rockets were launched at Israel late this morning by Hamas terrorists who claim to have accepted a "cease-fire." Thankfully no one has been injured in today's attacks though there was damage inflicted on several buildings.

Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Gillerman, told the Security Council last night that the apparent lull in Hamas rocket attacks is only superficial, because the bombs keep ticking, albeit quietly, while Hamas is using this time to smuggle in and produce more rockets.

"During the last month, Hamas fired more than 300 rockets at Israel, at least 23 of them Iranian-made Grad missiles that hit the city of Ashkelon," Gillerman said. "The rocket attacks marked an escalation of violence not just in number, but also in weaponry. Grad rockets - smuggled into the Gaza Strip from Iran during the breach of the Gaza border this January - have greater range, larger warheads, and fragment on impact. Hamas' new weapon of choice means that a quarter of a million Israeli civilians now live in constant danger of rocket fire. We can all thank Iran for adding another weapon to the Hamas arsenal, in addition to its already heinous suicide attacks and deadly Kassam rockets. [Hamas also] continued to wreak havoc and daily terror on the people of Sderot - a small but resilient city of 23,000, where children no longer run around on playgrounds; they now run to bomb shelters. Such is the reality in Sderot, where 15 seconds is all you have to find safety before a Kassam rocket comes crashing down."

"I am sure that many in this Council watched with horror and disgust as Hamas terrorists joyfully fired their rifles into the air [after the Merkaz HaRav slaughter] and passed out candy to children in celebration. If anyone doubted what the extremists stand for, the reaction in Gaza to the murder of eight Israeli boys sets the record straight. It was also a stark reminder that these were the same people who danced on the rooftops after 9/11.

"Which is why, Mr. President, it was so sad and disturbing that the Council could not condemn the terrorist attack. The Security Council has a longstanding practice of condemning terrorism, no matter the victims, no matter the location, no matter the perpetrator, no matter the motivation. Yet the Council could not unanimously condemn this terrorist attack and intentional killing of civilians, for the Council was blocked by a politicized opposition, of one Member State [Libya - ed.] in particular.

"Lately, a particularly worrisome trend has been apparent when it comes to the discourse concerning our region," Gillerman continued. "Some have a penchant for equating the lawful actions of states in defense of their citizens with the violence of terrorists whose goal is to endanger those very civilians. The misguided tendency to accept the "status quo" of terrorism - as expressed even by some UN officials in their statements and reports - is simply unacceptable. Such parity, which is often in the name of an ill-conceived balance, undermines the strength and credibility of moderate states to bolster one another and isolate the extremists."

Before concluding his speech to the Security Council, Gillerman also addressed the tensions on the northern border of Israel, noting that Hizbollah is violating the cease fire reached after the 2006 war in three areas: weapons continue to flow illegally from Syria into Lebanon, Hizbollah is re-arming and has already increased more than tripled the arsenal it had in 2006 as its spokesmen openly brag, and Israeli soldiers Eldad Regev and Udi Goldwasser are still unaccounted for.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas suspended peace negotiations with Israel on Sunday, demanding it end a Gaza offensive that has killed more than 100 Palestinians, many of them civilians.Israel claimed it was acting in self-defense in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip to curb constant cross-border rocket attacks by militants and threatened to intensify its ground and air campaign despite allegations it was using excessive force.

"Abbas had ordered the suspension of negotiations ... until (Israeli) aggression is stopped," a senior aide to the Palestinian leader said in the West Bank city of Ramallah. But he stopped short of declaring dead the US-brokered statehood talks opposed by Hamas who seized control of the Gaza Strip from his Fatah movement in June. Arye Mekel, spokesman for Israel's chief negotiator, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, said Abbas's decision was a mistake and expressed hope the talks would resume "in the very near future."

A 21-month-old Palestinian girl, two other civilians and three militants were killed in the latest fighting in the Gaza Strip, raising the Palestinian death toll in five days of bloodshed to more than 100, medical officials said. Anti-Israeli demonstrations erupted in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces confronting stone-throwers near the town of Hebron shot dead a 14-year-old boy wearing a Hamas headband, witnesses said.

Nine rockets slammed into southern Israel, wounding four people, Israeli ambulance workers said. "Israel has no intention of stopping the fight against the terrorist organizations even for a minute," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told his cabinet.

Earlier, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon accused Israel of using “excessive force.” He demanded a halt to air and ground attacks that killed 61 people on Saturday, the bloodiest day for Palestinians since the 1980s, and militants’ rocket salvoes.

EU president Slovenia condemned Israel’s attacks as disproportionate and violating international law. The presidency statement also called for an immediate halt to the rocket fire.

“With all due respect ... no one has the right to preach morality to Israel for employing its elementary right of self-defense,” Olmert said.

Abbas designated Sunday a day of mourning. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is due to meet Abbas and Olmert this week. Washington has said it hoped Israeli-Palestinian talks can lead to a statehood deal before President George W. Bush leaves office in January.

One Israeli has been killed by a rocket launched from Gaza since the current surge in bloodshed began. Hamas has said such salvoes would stop if Israel abandoned operations in the Gaza Strip and raids against militants in the occupied West Bank.

“We are acting to hit the Hamas infrastructure ... the final target is to bring an end to the firing of Qassams,” Defense Minister Ehud Barak said about the crude rockets.

“This will not be achieved in the next two days, but we will continue the activity with all our strength. And we need to prepare for escalation, because the big ground operation is real and tangible,” Barak said.

Meeting in emergency session, the UN Security Council said it was deeply concerned about civilian deaths in southern Israel and the Gaza Strip and urged a cessation of violence.

“We are capable of sustaining the fight and tolerating (attacks) beyond the expectations of the enemy,” said Abu Ubaida, spokesman of Hamas’s Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades.

Olmert has been under pressure from some of his cabinet members to launch a broader offensive in the Gaza Strip, especially after militants began firing longer-range Katyusha rockets at Ashkelon, a city of 120,000 people.

But Israeli officials have spoken publicly of the heavy loss of life such a campaign could cause on both sides. Two Israeli soldiers were killed in fighting with Gaza militants on Saturday.

Across the Gaza Strip, families erected traditional mourning tents for the dead. In southern Israel, people went about their everyday lives, poised to rush for shelter at the sound of alarms that activate about 15 seconds before a rocket hits.

The offensive has taken Israeli troops deeper into the Gaza Strip and in larger numbers than at any time since Israel pulled troops and settlers out of the territory in 2005, 38 years after its capture.

Turkey condemns Israeli attacks in Gaza

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday accused Israel of using “disproportionate force” in its attacks in the Gaza Strip that have killed over 100 Palestinians in two days. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a speech that the attacks are killing “children and civilians” and that they can have “no humanitarian justification.” Turkey is Israel’s closest ally in the Muslim world and has offered to mediate for Middle East peace. But Erdoğan said Sunday that Israel was rejecting a “diplomatic” solution to the dispute.

According to medical literature, "sepsis is characterized by a whole-body inflammatory state caused by infection" and is "broadly defined as the presence of various pus-forming and other pathogenic organisms, or their toxins, in the blood or tissues."

Ashkelon Technological Industries (ATI), a tech incubator focused on healthcare and cleantech, will invest $2 million in the medical device start-up which was essentially borne out of research carried out at the National Institute for Biotechnology at Ben Gurion University. According to Globes "The diagnostic kit will enable the identification of the different sepsis stages, including early detection and will also be able to identify the cause of infection. The kit will contain biological reagents and proprietary software that will analyze the recorded data."

More broadly, Phagolum is a fiber optic-based sensor that may be adapted to many potential applications, but mainly to medical diagnosis and prognosis including early detection.
This is actually something that I had no idea of. The Zionists, according to their own words (this article is taken from the famous Zionist newspaper Haaretz) destroyed a shrine of Imam Hussayn in Palestine. This shrine is said to have held the head of Imam Hussayn, the master of the martyrs (a). This is just another reason to despise this political party. May the curse of Allah be upon the murderers of Hussayn in the past and the present.

History Erased

By Meron Rapoport

In July 1950, Majdal - today Ashkelon - was still a mixed town. About 3,000 Palestinians lived there in a closed, fenced-off ghetto, next to the recently arrived Jewish residents. Before the 1948 war, Majdal had been a commercial and administrative center with a population of 12,000. It also had religious importance: nearby, amid the ruins of ancient Ashkelon, stood Mash'had Nabi Hussein, an 11th-century structure where, according to tradition, the head of Hussein Bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was interred; his death in Karbala, Iraq, marked the onset of therift between Shi'ites and Sunnis.

Muslim pilgrims, both Shi'ite and Sunni, would visit the site. But after July 1950, there was nothing left for themto visit: that's when the Israel Defense Forces blew up Mash'had Nabi Hussein. This was not the only Muslim holy place destroyed after Israel's War ofIndependence. According to a book by Dr. Meron Benvenisti, of the 160mosques in the Palestinian villages incorporated into Israel under thearmistice agreements, fewer than 40 are still standing. What is unusualabout the case of Mash'had Nabi Hussein is that the demolition isdocumented, and direct responsibility was taken by none other than the GOC Southern Command at the time, an officer named Moshe Dayan. The documentation shows that the holy site was blown up deliberately, as part of a broader operation that included at least two additional mosques, one in Yavneh and the other in Ashdod.

A member of the establishment is responsible for the documentation Shmuel Yeivin, then the director of the Department of Antiquities, the forerunnerof the present-day Antiquities Authority. Yeivin, as noted by Raz Kletter, an archaeologist who has studied the first two decades of archaeology in Israel, was neither a political activist nor a champion for Arab rights. AsKletter explains, he was simply a scientist, a disciple of the Britishschool and a member of the Mandate government's Department of Antiquitieswho believed that ancient sites and holy places needed to be preserved, whether they were sacred to Jews, Christians or Muslims. In line with his convictions, he fired off letters of protest and was considered a nudnik bythe IDF.

"I received a report that not long ago, the army blew up the big building inthe ruins of Ashkelon, which is known by the name of Maqam al-Nabi Hussein and is a holy site for the Muslim community," Yeivin wrote on July 24, 1950,to Lieutenant Colonel Yaakov Patt, the head of the department for special missions in the Defense Ministry, and sent a copy to chief of staff YigaelYadin and other senior officers. "That building was still standing during my last visit to the site, on June 10 - in other words, the army authorities found no reason to demolish it from the conquest until the middle of 1950. Ifind it hard to imagine the site was blown up due to infiltrators, as theyhave not stopped infiltrating the area during this entire period."

The detonation, by the way, was extremely successful. Of the ancient and holy site, not so much as a stone remained. Yeivin's complaint was seemingly related to procedural matters, but only seemingly. The army, he wrote, needed to understand that there were "sanctified buildings," and if it wanted to touch them, "it is proper, honest and courteous first to talk to the institutions that supervise theseareas and buildings, and to consult with them in order to find ways to avoiddestruction." But that is not happening, Yeivin stated. "I was told that simultaneously, the mosque in the abandoned village of Ashdod was blown up," Yeivin added.

by Felix Quigley

What actually happened in the murder scene itself has been described in great detail by Israel National News website.

begin quote here

The attacker entered the yeshiva and opened fire on students before he was gunned down himself by a part-time yeshiva student, aided by an off-duty army officer from the neighborhood. The attack began in the seminary's library with the terrorist spraying bullets in every direction before anyone could react.

The part-time yeshiva student who first shot the terrorist, 40-year-old Yitzchak Dadon, said he was in the Yeshiva's study hall when he heard the shots. "Everyone left through a side door," he said, "and I left through a window, and lied down on a roof overlooking the library... When he came out, I shot him in the head twice. I saw him start to stagger, and then David Shapira [a yeshiva graduate and paratroopers officer] arrived on the scene, shot him with his M-16 rifle, and then we emptied our magazines into him."

Dadon later told Arutz-7, "It was terribly frustrating feeling, knowing he was in there shooting, but I could do nothing but wait for him to come out so that I could shoot him... While waiting, I could see some boys in a side room in the library turn off the lights and barricade their door - and though he tried, he was unable to come into the room and gun them all down."

end quote here

The account which Dadon was giving to the Media was not just telling what happened but how and whyit happened. He was going behind and beyond the event to incriminate the false political programme of the traitors of Labour and Kadima, and others such as Oz, who have refused to defend the Israeli people against Fascism. He continues:

begin quote here

State-Run Radio Leaves Dadon Out of Report
Dadon was interviewed on various television and radio channels and told his story. When describing what the terrorist was wearing, Dadon emphasized that he was armed with a Kalachnikov rifle that was given him by "our President Peres and by the Olmert government." The interviewers invariably tried to cut him off. Later, the official news report by government-run Israel Radio left him out of its reports, announcing only, "An IDF officer who lives near the Yeshiva heard the shots, came to the scene and shot the terrorist to death." That report still appeared on its internet site late Friday morning.

end quote here

The reason for this closing down of the truth by the Government and the Media is pretty obvious. The Israeli state is ruled by a reactionary political element which is based on the idea that, if you are nice to Fascists, they will respond to your kindness and be nice back to you. It is also ruled by a similar political element which is hostile to Jewish nationalism, and since the Jewish religion is interconnected and interlaced with Jewish nationalism, it is hostile as well to Judaism.

Remember the nature of this school which was chosen by the Fascists for attack:

begin quote here

The Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva is located near the entrance to Jerusalem, in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood. The yeshiva, founded by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook, is at the heart of the national-religious movement in Israel.

end quote here

This is also why no matter how many times the Fascists attack Israel like this these reactionary forces will deep within themselves blame the Jews even though they are part of the Jewish people themselves...in other words it is a definite ideology with its own false logic and momentum. The real reason for this reactionary ideology is, rather more than Jewish self hatred promoted by world antisemitism, the role of Stalinism and social democracy in the founding of the state of Israel itself.

Hence the immediate reaction of this Israeli ruling class to the attack, close down the discussion, a Stalinist and Labourist reaction, proved thousands of times throughout history, and not just limited to the Jews and Israel.

This very full report of the murders with graphic pictures can be seen on

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/125487

So after these murders where does this leave the Jews of Israel? This is a major question and needs to be answered in the most concrete manner.

On Israpundit a regular commenter called "Yamit82" wrote from Israel

start quote here

Had it not been for a part-time student armed with a gun, and a nearby resident who, as an IDF officer was trained to know the difference between Purim firecrackers and real gunshots, the attacker might well have murdered many others. Thank G-d for the Jewish warriors who were as competent with a physical weapon as they are in Torah study.

Even though there was a tip to police of an imminent attack on the capital was not enough to prevent it from happening is frightening, because the comfortable thought that “forewarned is forearmed” has now been debunked. This tragedy occurred because there were assumptions made by some of the authorities that the terrorist would come from outside the area of attack. Security checkpoints hastily placed in a tight ring around the city were wasted; the terrorist came from within the circle.

It was an “inside job”

The terrorist was a 25-year-old Israeli Arab citizen, complete with an Israeli ID card (teudat zehut), a resident of a neighborhood in the eastern section of the capital, who had driven children and adults back and forth from schools in the city - including the yeshiva. He was known and trusted. And therefore not suspect.

Many Palestinian Authority Arabs and Israeli Arabs work for and together with Jews in this country and there are still some Jews who have not yet learned to hate. Now the question is: Which of their friends and workers can be trusted, truly?"

end quote here

http://www.israpundit.com/2008/?p=462#comments

Let me go back to the period of the late 30s and the political positions which Leon Trotsky was taking up concerning the Jews, and the whole general danger coming from the Nazis. Trotsky spelled out in unmistakable terms that the Jews had to get out of the killing fields of Europe (this was long before the Holocasut started) and had to make their way to Palestine, where he asserted that they had to create their own space which was free from antisemitism.

Taking that and taking the comment of Yamit82 above it is clear that there has been a break in the logic of that clear position somewhere along the line and it behoves us to ask where did the break happen. Yamit is describing the danger as coming from within, that is from Jew Hatred from within that space (Israel) that Trotsky said the Jews should make their own and within which they must be safe free from antisemitism.

The serious break down of logic is shown clearly when we compare what Trotsky asserted Jews must do, with what they actually diddo, when the leadership of Ben Gurion and Weizman came to setting up the Jewish state of Israel. It was not in the event actually exactly a Jewish state, that is a state for the Jews and devoted to Jewish safety, at all.

begin quote here

The State of Israel … will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture;

end quote here

http://4international.wordpress.com/2008/03/08/murder-of-jewish-students-2/#more-102

You will notice in the above they wheel the "prophets" in on their side but it opens up the suicidal idea that all in the Jewish state, no matter who they are, will have equal political rights. It is worth going back to the political formulations of the League of Nations Mandate in San Remo in 1922 and you will find that even the international jurists in that body did not do this, they only went as far as giving minorities social rights, not political rights.

For the purposes of our enquiry here we will now repeat a quote from the last article on this site, which deals with the Israeli Arabs, and the political forces which are acting upon them. This quote deals with how different Israeli Arabs reacted to the murders of the students:

start quote here

Last Friday, hundreds visited a traditional Muslim mourning tent in Jerusalem’s Jabel Mukaber neighborhood to pay their respects to the family. The tent was adorned by hundreds of posters of the dead man’s face. It also was also decorated with Hizbullah and Hamas banners.

The tent was erected to honor Alaa Abu D’heim. In a scene taken from a Russian pogrom, Thursday night D’heim entered Mercaz Harav Yeshiva and massacred eight boys and young men as they studied Torah.

D’heim’s family did not fear retribution from their fellow Arabs. His neighbors did not demonstrate against his crime. The Israeli Arab leadership did not credibly condemn it.

Yet the lack of protests did not necessarily mean that his crime is supported by all Arabs in Israel. Sunday night, Channel 2’s Suleiman Ashafi interviewed a young man outside the tent who said, “If I had known that he was planning to attack people, that he was planning to carry out a terrorist attack, I would have shot him in the head myself.” The young man, like the Beduin soldier’s family, requested not to be named. He used his hand to hide his face from the camera. He too, was intimidated. He too feared he would be attacked for voicing his condemnation of D’heim and his implied support for Israel.

WHAT IS going on in Israeli Arab society? What are the implications of the tangible fear among those Arabs who support Israel and the unabashed willingness of the Israeli Arab leadership to defend the likes of Hamas, Fatah and D’heim in their terror war against Israel? Is Israel’s Arab minority - which comprises 20 percent of the population - lost? In the 1996 electoral campaign which pitted Binyamin Netanyahu against Shimon Peres, Netanyahu appointed former foreign and defense minister Moshe Arens to run the party’s campaign for the Arab vote. Arens succeeded in bringing the Likud candidate five percent of the overall Arab vote. His labors were credited with bringing victory to the party in that photo-finish race.

In the aftermath of Thursday’s massacre, Arens warns that it is wrong to view Israeli Arabs as a monolithic block. Indeed they are an ethnically and religiously diverse population.

end quote here

http://4international.wordpress.com/2008/03/11/beduin-familywe-all-serve-in-the-idf/#more-105

So there is a small minority of Israeli Arabs who are in support of Israel, and who are opposed to antisemitism, and thus to these murders. So then what is the revolutionary socialist answer to this conundrum, on which the whole future of Israel and the lives of millions of Jews, and probably as well many Arabs, is going to be fought upon. Actually the pointer is there once again in the political positions mentioned above of Leon Trotsky and we will come to that in the next article of this series.
