[caption id="attachment_251" align="aligncenter" width="230" caption="Nathan Johnson"][/caption]

Three men high on methamphetamine were apprehended outside Denver after a routine traffic stop yielded scoped rifles, bulletproof vests, fake IDs, and walkie talkies. The men had been doing drugs in a hotel room and rambling about assassinating Barack Obama. As of this writing, they have been charged with drug and weapons offenses but are not being treated as would be terrorists by authorities.

Soon after the story broke, the w(r)ong wing blogosphere was abuzz about how this was probably a "set up" designed to benefit Obama. One fool even suggested that the suspects were probably Democrats. Unbelievable. These (r)epuke hacks are using this opportunity to push scare tactics on voters with talk of widespread rioting should Obama be shot. Of course, all of the rioters in their apocalyptic scenarios are black.

The police say that these men posed no credible threat to the candidate. The DNC is certainly a fortified event and these three clowns would likely have never gotten very close to Barack. But is that any reason to discount the threat they posed and argue that it is just a ploy for votes? Of course not.

Leo Standora and James Gordon Meek, The New York Daily News, August 26, 2008

Four people with links to white supremacist groups are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech, a U.S. counterterror official confirmed last night.

Secret Service investigators don't consider the suspects, one of them a woman, as serious threats to the Democratic presidential candidate, they said. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

The FBI is investigating, but officials said they don't believe the plot was real.

"We're absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention or the people of Colorado," U.S. Attorney Troy Eid said in a statement.

"It could also turn out that these were nothing but a bunch of knuckleheads, meth heads," a U.S. government official told The Associated Press.

A Denver law enforcement official told the Daily News, "These are not the smartest guys in the world."

Once in custody, one of the suspects turned on the others, telling investigators there was a plot to kill Obama.

Denver's CBS4 reported the suspect told authorities the thugs were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a rifle sighted at 750 yards."

My next show, which I am more than a little excited about: Assassins. If you’re not familiar

My next show, which I am more than a little excited about: Assassins. If you're not familiar with the show (as most people aren't. It's pretty obscure), I shall explain it.

But first, visit the website and order tickets now!!!

First of all, it's written by Stephen Sondheim, creator of such wonders as Sweeney Todd and Company, enough to make any theatre buff giddy. The basic premise is that it's the story of the nine presidential assassins (both successful and attempted). It takes place in a bar in the mid-sixties where they're all able to step out of their own time. Led by their pioneer, John Wilkes Booth, they collectively try to persuade Lee Harvey Oswald to shoot Kennedy. Through this, they would be bound together and made a "force of history."

Weird? Yeah. Awesome? Probably.

One of the more controversial shows out there, our production is poised interestingly around this historical presidential election. It should draw some attention. To me. Which is what really matters.

Though I really wanted to play Booth (who else gets to scream the "n-word" and commit suicide in the same song?), I am ecstatic to play the part of Giuseppe Zangara, the Italian immigrant who suffered from chronic stomach pains that drove him insane. Blaming "the bosses and capitalists and kings" for his illness, he initially wanted to kill Hoover, but that was too far and too cold. So he attempted to kill President Elect Roosevelt when he visited Miami.

He missed. But he did kill Mayor Anton Cermark of Chicago and wounded four others. He was sentenced to death by electric chair, which is my big scene, and his last remarks were his indignation that there weren't any photographers for the occasion, and "who cares. push the button!"

It's going to be a great character piece for me. Heavy accent, weird stomach things to think about, a violent death, and a song that's too high so I get to just scream a lot. Yesssssss...

As some of you are no doubt already aware, the original match has been invalidated due to Spud's inability to read cards. Normally he uses his hyper-sensitive fingertips to "read" the impressions of the ink on cards, but sleeves made it impossible for him to correctly determine the wording on Qwardian Council Hall. Not only did he believe he could use it while defending, he also thought it entitled him to play pantsless.

Needless to say, this is not appropriate behaviour for the Summer of Love, and thus both players shuffled up their decks for a rematch. This time, rather than dealing with other matters such as deciding which of the secondary prize gets assigned to which winning criteria, I actually oversaw the match and made notes.

Huzzah for notes! No pics though, it's late and I'm tired. You're all subject to my whims!

Pablo wins initiative and opts for Evens.

Round One:

Spud (Qwardian Real Estate) recruits nothing. Pablo (Stranger Danger) follows suit.

Qwardian RE: 50
Stranger Danger: 50

Round Two:

Pablo recruits Jack Knight. On the side he reveals to me that despite collating and a healthy shuffle, he has three in hand... Spud responds with Brainiac in the concealed area.

Jack kicks off the combat phase by digging another card out for Pablo; Brainiac blanches at the sight and passes.

Qwardian RE: 50
Stranger Danger: 50

Round Three:

Spud froths at the mouth and recruits Mad Dog. Pablo, no 3-drop in hand, activated Jack Knight for draw, recruits a new Jack, and again opts to draw a card.

Mad Dog barrels into Jack Knight, KO'ing Starman, and Brainiac swings into Pablo's face. Are we having fun yet?

Qwardian RE: 50
Stranger Danger: 43

Round Four:

Pablo takes wing with Katar Hol and his Nth Metal beatstick. Spud's hatred is never-ending, eternal if you will. Like, Ra's Al Ghul...

Being on the first eventful combat turn of the game!

Katar ploughs into Ra's. Spud flips Forbidden Loyalties and grabs a counter for the Eternal Nemesis. Naturally, Katar powers up. But look, up there in that Mountain Stronghold! It's Bane, and Ra's feels all reinforced. Orbitting in the Anti-Matter universe is the planet Qward, dropping Katar's defense by one, but the Phantom Stranger pumps Hawkman to dodge the dual stun. Ra's goes down, muttering invectives.

Not willing to lose board presence, Spud passes.

Qwardian RE: 46
Stranger Danger: 43

Round Five:

Bane wanders down from the Mountain Stronghold, to be met face-to-face by an enormous pink bubble... which promptly bursts and vanishes as Tabitha Smith chews away. Tabby and Katar decide to call the Phantom Stranger back before entering the combat phase.

Wannna see a busy combat?

Ra's declares into Tabby.

2x Harsh Judgement reduce Tabby, and Ra's plays a Savage Beatdown.

Pablo flips Forbidden Loyalties, getting a counter for Tabby

Phantom Stranger pumps Tabby for +1/+2 thanks to Katar

Justice United? There's that Phantom Stranger again

Hey, another Justice United! That Phantom Stranger gets around

2 exhausts for Qward and a discard for Brainiac and Spud's 1 pt over

And Pablo shuts the door with Against All Odds.

In the face of all of that to only receive a stunback, Spud passes.

Qwardian RE: 42
Stranger Danger: 43

Round Six:

Time for a little Power... Power Girl, at least, and it looks like she's raided Hawkman's closet and found an Nth Metal shoehorn. The mysteriously ground-bound Shrike appears to oppose her.

With another string of effects (whatever happened to simple beats??) Power Girl swings into Shrike. Shrike exhausts for Qward, Phantom Strangerpumps Power Girl, Shrike pumps, Brianiac exhausts for Qward. Finally, a dual stun, with Bane reinforcing Shrike.

Tabitha, having stolen Ra's counter (it's hers!), kicks into Bane for... yes, yes, it's a simple combat! Yay! Katar follows suit into Ra's, who exhausts for Qward for a dial stun.

Finally, Mad Dog barrles into Pablo's face. He gets lost in Pablo's manly beard at first, but makes it out in the end.

Qwardian RE: 25
Stranger Danger: 24

Round Seven:

Missing his seven, Spud recruits Ultraman and Merlyn. Also missing a seven, Pablo recruits Monica Rambeau. Both Tabby and Monica exhaust to bring back that recurring Phantom Stranger.

Shrike shrieks into Power Girl, but it looks like the effects are back. Power Girl gets an Advance Warning, Spud complains about not being able to use Tower Of Babel while attacking; three exhausts for Qward and the stun goes through.

Both players are eager to get to turn 8 for the endgame...

Qwardian RE: 22
Stranger Danger: 18

Round Eight:

Pablo finally actually recruits the Phantom Stranger, but Spud has missed his 8-drop and only has Dead-Eye. Pablo exerts testosterone-laden omnipotence on Qward, to which Spud responds with four exhausts to reduce the Phantom Stranger's defense.

Keeping it simple:

Stranger into Shrike, Merlyn reinforces.

Power Girl into Merlyn with a single power-up

Monica slaps Spud in the face... with a Savage Beatdown.

Qwardian RE: -14
Stranger Danger: 11

With that the rematch is done, and Stranger Danger moves on to be one step closer to the Prom.

So lets move onto the review shall we?

Guild Wars Battle Grounds

"By : KG"

Guild Wars PVP system is best well known for its Guild Vs. Guild. So before I go into all the different modes I would like to get a little into the character creation for PvP. Now Arena Net has done it different by allowing the players to either create a strictly PvP character which is already at level cap with perfect equipment but not allowed to travel into the PvE environment or complete quest. Alternatively you can create a PvE character and take him into the PvP arena. There is no advantages between the two different types besides the fact that getting perfect armor and a level 20 PvE character is a lot harder than just making a PvP character so you choose.

Now Guild Wars does include multiple modes such as Random Battle, which automatically pairs you up with 3 others to take on another randomly paired team, this mode requires a great amount of teamwork luck and communication, because no matter what you do there is no way of telling what kind of people or characters you will get paired with. Team Battle a mode much similar to Random except that the teams are created by you the player, in return giving you a much higher chance of winning. Next is the famous Heroes’ Accent. The Heroes’ Accent is a multi-cultural mode where Countries all across the nation compete to win. Teams of 8 players join together and go through 10 stages of game play until they reach the final stage, The Hall Of Heroes. While playing through the stages teams earn fame, resulting in getting farther in the Hero Title Track. I’ll go into Titles a little bit later but for now let’s stick to PvP. So during the Heroes’ Accent teams compete through stages until they are either defeated and are dropped out of the competition or reach the final stage where valuable items can be found. Heroes’ Accent is probably the most competitive mode in Guild Wars.

Next is the actual Guild vs Guild. Guild Wars is focused off this mode hence the name “Guild Wars”. GvG for short is where two guilds with teams of 8 players battle it out trying to kill the other guilds “Guild Lord”. GvG is one of the most competitive because of the ladder they have. Teams compete to become #1 on the GvG ladder on the Guild Wars website. Now all 8 members of the team have to be Guild Members, a minimum of 4 of the players must be a part of the guild, others must either be a guest to the guild. GvG is played in 3 modes, unranked scrimmage where players can choose which guild they play, this mode does not count towards their ladder rank. The next mode is an ranked automated match, where teams are randomly paired together and must face, this mode does count towards your ladder rank. Finally there is just a scrimmage mode where players battle a selected team in the guild’s guild hall. Next there is a Alliance Vs. Alliance PvP mode. AvA is a mode only unlocked if you have the Factions campaign and belong to a faction, Kuzrick or Luxon. AvA is played in a 12 Vs 12, including 3 teams of 4, these teams are randomly paired. The objective of the game mode is to be the first team to reach 500 points, you gain points by capturing and holding certain control points. A automatic win can be achieved by holding all 7 control points for 60 seconds. While playing you are rewarded faction points which work towards various titles.

Lastly there is Hero Vs Hero. Where players use 3 heroes to battle each other controlling only their heroes and not their character. Just like GvG there is a unranked match as well as a ranked match. This mode requires either the Nightfall campaign or the Eye Of The North expansion. That just about sums it up for my Guild Wars PvP review, I hope you enjoyed it, now go slay some noobs in Heroes’ Accent!

With all the buzz flying around about actor Heath Ledger’s death, and the recent posts I

With all the buzz flying around about actor Heath Ledger's death, and the recent posts I've written concerning Christopher Nolan's sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, I've finally been able to go and see the film myself, and supply my own review. The films picks up within a short period of the Batman Begins ending, starting with a planned robbery of a mob bank by the Joker and his henchmen. Within the first five minutes, we are introduced to a small taste of The Joker's sinister personality, as he kills of each of his gang, and in the end, escapes the bank alone with the money.

The Joker is no longer the character brought to life by Cesaer Romero, or scarred by acid as portrayed by Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman Film, but rather an even darker and diabolical character. We see him as a tormented figure, who takes pleasure in mutilating his victims, and driving them to the edge of their minds with his relentless war again the Batman. Hollywood has taken a Comic Book story, and turned it into a horror flick, where Batman no longer battles petty criminals, but rather faces the challenge of taking on a man whose got nothing to lose.

Reflecting a bit on some past posts here on CatholicDiscussion, we've touched up a bit on the essential code of morality which governs us all. That is, God's Law inscribed in our hearts. (Referring to some comments where we've had discussions with atheists.) One of the Joker's lines catches me, "The only sensible way to live in this world is without rules." And come to think of it, yes, it's quite true. In the sense of the world of course. For all that Religion and Theology do is simply lay rules and constrictions which stop us from having 'fun!' This is the Joker's mentality, as he commits crime after senseless atrocity in order to make Batman turn himself in. Summing it all up, the movie is great in the sense of action sequence after action sequence, able to keep a story going, (unlike other sequels that have been floating around lately), but takes a darker and even 'demonic' turn when it comes to the Joker. As I was discussing this movie with a friend of mine, it basically comes down to this: "I do not recommend this film." It WAS a good 'thinking' film, in the sense that it was everything I wrote about in my pervious post entitled: "Why So Serious," but aside from that, people must be pretty sick in order to watch the Joker go up to a man and give the reason for his scars, (quoting directly from the film script)

Wanna know how I got these scars? My father was....a drinker. And a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. Turns to me and he says "Why so serious?" Comes at me with the knife,"Why so serious?" He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let's put a smile on that face!" And..... Why so serious?

He simply states it all in that line. That is what made the film disturbing. Was the particular way the Joker 'hated' his father. Indeed, there is nothing wrong with having a character whose had a bad past with his/her parents, but this simply blows the top, as through the film, the Joker mentions, "You remind me of my father, I HATED my father." Is this the type of entertainment which people need? Not quite. Society must be pretty low if they call this film actual 'entertainment.' The Joker surpasses the limits of the classic villain, he isn't in this for money, he isn't in this for some sort of reward, he's in it for the 'fun.' "I'm like a dog chasing cars...i-if I were to catch the car, I actually just wouldn't know what to do with it!" So this puts no limits on the horror he splashes across the screen. Here is a quick look for yourself if you question my critique: The Magic Trick. "It's...gone."

Though I'm one for Comic Book Film Adaptions, The Dark Knight pushes the limits, turning the classic stance of the Joker from a classic villain, to a heartless mercenary, who will stop at nothing for a few laughs, and to see the Batman take off his mask. If you do see it, be prepared to see the face of evil. My father went to go see it with me, and he simply states, "That is one of the most disturbingly evil movies I've ever seen. You'd never get me to watch it again." The evil is present. And if you still dare to argue that this role DID NOT have an affect on Heath Ledger's mind, then you must definitely be out there with him as well.

Please, no comments asking "Why So Serious" of a review. :)

I couldn't work this afternoon. Sometimes you hit a wall, and today my wall was about 2:30. Rather than fester in a lack of productivity at work, I decided to make the call and achieve productivity elsewhere, so I went home to continue unpacking.

Today, it's trying to get the office set up, which means unpacking the boxes of professional teaching texts, grad school papers and other things that I will need to keep handy in the case that I actually decide to finish my thesis and my MA. But that's not what I want to talk about.

I also found a box containing all of the stage manager's scripts for shows that I had worked on. Not only scripts, but all of the cards, programs, photos, and other memorabilia from that time in my life. It was amazing to sift through it all and be bombarded by memories of friends and loves, drama both performed and lived.

Turns out there was one guy who thought I would be good at something, so he gave me the opportunity to do it (not unlike my current job, it turns out). The guy was Amir, that show was Assassins, and I was the painfully underqualified stage manager, trying to make up for my lack of experience with hard work and charm. And that's pretty much what I did. The experience of watching that script, those actors, and that black box of a room being transformed is one that I will always feel honored to have. It was magical, friends, magical. Like falling in love, or visiting your favorite place, or just having a really good day, it is the kind of magic makes you want to do it again.

Though not every cast, not every director, not every crew makes something magic, there is something about the pursuit of it that is compelling. I worked a full time job in accounting and administration during the day, only to be able to maintain my theater habit. I stage managed eight shows over the course of just over two years. I am fairly certain that there was a six-week period when I didn't actually see my roommate because my schedule was so ridiculous and demanding. But I was young, and exhaustion meant little.

Some day, I will write a post about the actual musical Assassins, in order to defend my irrational fascination with people who tried to kill American presidents. Maybe I'll write about some of the other shows I did, too. Some day, I will write a post about my experience working for Jeopardy! and the hardest promise I will never get to break. Today, though, I'm struck by the resounding passion I still have for these things, though they are so far from where I am now.

Well in case anyone is pining for the story behind this sordid affair, here she is:

May the force be with... I do: The Star Wars fans and their out-of-this-world wedding

Hey at least the cake was cool:

*In all fairness to the participants, a few years ago, a variation of this disaster would have been my dream wedding. I would have gone with the Djas Puhr look (below),

while forcing (no pun intended, after all Herr Puhr was force-sensitive, ability 4 baby!) my bride to gear up in the gown worn by Princess Leia at the end of a New Hope (so sue me for being a purist).

seriously, what if joker, played by heath ledger in the movie dark knight, was the grandmaster of the fraternity of assassins in the movie wanted? and they use knives instead of guns since joker is fond of using the former than the latter.

i watched dark knight just yesterday after it was first shown four weeks ago and it was like a bomb. the plot, the cast, the entire film was great that the two-hour-and-a-half show passed by without me noticing it. heath was, so far, the most perfect person to play the role of the anarchist psychopath - joker (though in the movie i can't help but compare his make-up to the late brandon lee's movie - the crow. and by the way, both of them are dead already).

in my opinion, the late mr. ledger must be nominated for best actor in that movie.

on the other hand, the most unrealistic film i've watched to this date is wanted. it's more than lito lapid's slicing of the slug with a knife to hit two gangsters in the 80s film. imagine shooting in curves to hit the target. well, the effects of this movie were great so to speak. but i just couldn't believe one could hit someone so perfect from a building north to a building located in the east with so many obstacles in between. to me it's madness.

anyway, feel free to comment. :)

I’ve had pretty bad luck with finding any good anime series so a year ago my friend recommende

I've had pretty bad luck with finding any good anime series so a year ago my friend recommended Elfen Lied:

I was instantly hooked on this series after witnessing the glory of the first episode and I just recently was able to get a hold of the rest of the 13 episode series. My viewing experience was amazing, I seriously watched the last 2 discs straight through because I was on the edge of my seat to find out what would happen.

If you're a fan of secret ultimate killing machines designed by the government, gruesome fight scenes with classical music, ruthless cyborg assassins, teen-age romance, awkward moments or even just girls with pink hair, then Elfen Lied is a series for you. There is a lot of gore and nudity (which I love) , but when contrasted with the love triangles and girly crushes (which boyfriend loves), Elfen Lied has something for everyone. Overall the animation, music, writing, fight scenes, everything! was extremely well done and now one of my all-time favorites.

Watched 'Wanted' last night.

'Wanted' is directed by Timur Bekmambet, the 47 yr old Russian-Kazakh film director of such classics like, Nightwatch and Daywatch. It was released in the UK on the 25th June. Hmmmm, sounds promising...

Nope.

Somehow as if by black freakin' magic, Bekmambet managed to convince the usually flawless Morgan Freeman, a cardboard cut out of Angelina, the 'up and coming/far too eager' James McAvoy, Terence Stamp 'of every boys film ever' and, if your still with me, hip-hop rapper/Hollywood whore Common(??!?!), to star in this film.

It must be pixie dust 'cos God only knows how he pitched this one to them, but I reckon it went exactly like this:

TB - "I've got a good film wanna be in it?"

MF/Cb c o o A/JM/TS/C - "What's it about?"

TB - "Assassins, a magic 'Loom of Fate', a faculty and mud baths and I wish this was really the Da Vinci Code and adaptation from a comic and his dad lived next door all along and the tapestry and angelina can bend over on top of trains and action film and shoot round corners and Common's role is utterly pointless and Castles and flying people and totally gash and blowing up assassins with rats and killing your dad and shooting through trains and Terence Stamp is a bullet guru (??) and wasting my life and donuts and angelina is a messed up kid who goes nuts - nothing new there and windows smashing all trendy like and waaaay too long and pillars and angelina gets naked (obviously) and 4 miles away and completely rubbish"

MF/Cb c o o A/JM/TS/C - "Yes, yes, yes. This sounds like the best career move since Lindsay Lohan decided that mutilated hooker film was a good'un. We're in".

And that's pretty much it.

............

Don't waste your time watching this, unless you're under 20, male and a bit retarded. Excessive, ridiculous, tedious, predictable, badly written and acted worse, the only good thing about this film is James McAvoy's American accent and the fact Morgan Freeman says "Mother F**ker" - Has he ever sworn before? I bet he hasn't...

Gutted if you paid to see this...

There were so many movies coming out that the Hubby and I wanted to see, and for the first time in o

There were so many movies coming out that the Hubby and I wanted to see, and for the first time in our lives we actually have to find a babysitter before we head out to our local theatre! Thankfully our little guy has a wonderful grandma who lives nearby, and she's been gracious enough to watch him for us so we can get a little 'us' time. And go see movies too, of course.

So last week, or rather a week and a half ago, we went to see Wanted (there were a lot of movies we wanted to see, but we had to choose just one. It was hard. We had two weeks where we couldn't get away, so got totally behind on our list of summer movies to see! Sorry Get Smart. We'll rent the DVD). You've probably seen the trailers - Angelina Jolie looking SUPER thin and wielding two guns and shooting, or leaning out of a Dodge Viper and shooting a shotgun, or being flexible on the roof of an train going through a tunnel. James McAvoy (oh, Mr. Tumnus!) is in it as well. Actually, he's the main character.

Something to keep in mind: Wanted is rated R. It sort of took me by surprise because I didn't bother checking what the rating was before we went, and there are quite a few F-bombs in the movie. The action is also uber-violent. Anyway, I think most movies that come out these days are rated PG-13 because the theatres are really cracking down on underage kids getting into R rated movies these days, and the studios want their pictures to be seen by the biggest crowd possible. This is neither here, nor there, however.

SO, we went to see Wanted . And guess what? It was pretty good! The concept was not exactly fresh, but it was an original take on 'people with special powers'. The action sequences are eye poppingly cool, and they're not all ruined in the trailers, so there's quite a bit more to see. James McAvoy is cute, and does a great job acting like he's an American (he's Scottish), and actually pulls off the 'action hero' role he plays in the movie.

Synopsis (with no spoilers, or hardly any): James McAvoy's character is leading a dead end life, staving off anxiety attacks with pills, and basically being a meek doormat to everyone he knows. He is the epitome of unhappy. One day a beautiful woman named Fox (Jolie: hot as usual, tooooo thin, and actually spent time in the makeup chair having more tattoos put on, rather than covered up) finds him in a drug store while he's trying to pick up his anxiety meds, and tells him his extremely estranged father was the greatest assassin in the world and was just killed the day before. Also, the man who killed his father... is RIGHT BEHIND YOU! Blam blam blam!!

On to the first car chase. And it is awesome.

The plot follows a semi-predictable route: McAvoy has the potential to be a great assassin as well and must train so he can avenge his father's death. Morgan Freeman plays the leader of the Fraternity, the group of assassins McAvoy's father and Fox belong to, and he brings a little gravity to the movie. Really, Wanted has some great actors in it.

The ending has a bit of a twist, and I kinda saw it coming, so it gets points down for that. Never telegraph your twist! Or maybe I'm just a great guesser. ;) I give Wanted 3.5 out of 5 stars - overall it was a lot of fun, and the action and effects are pretty awesome. Don't forget the F-bombs though, there are a lot and Wanted is most certainly not for kids. Don't worry about not seeing it in theatres, but I think its worth renting when it comes out on DVD.

Wanted is rated R.

Something I don’t really let people in on, but I guess I’ll tell everyone now, is that I

Something I don't really let people in on, but I guess I'll tell everyone now, is that I like a good European Royalty story. I don't really like the non fiction stuff. But if I were to be reading non fiction that would most likely what I would be reading about. But anyway, I really like the idea of princesses and princes and all that stuff from back in the day. I don't think I would want to live then, it just interests me. And that's what got me interested in this story. I'm glad that I picked it up.

Aurelia is the only heir to the throne of Tyralt. Or so she believes. Her father, the king, is still alive and wants to make her the best Queen that he thinks she should be. When there have been assassination attempts on Aurelia's life, he fears that she will freak out and doesn't want her to worry and decides that she is better off not knowing about them. He hires his former royal spy, but what he doesn't expect his for the spy to refuse to come. Instead the son of the former spy, and former classmate of Aurelia, takes the case.

We are lead to believe that Robert, the son of the former spy, is only there to find the assassin. We know that there are some personal reasons, but are not told what they are. Well, ladies and gentleman, it's not that hard to figure out. He's got a crush on the princess. Duh.... Well, it gets interesting when there are plenty of assassination attempts on her life and no one with the ability to make all those attempts. There are more than a few people in on the plot and Robert the amateur spy has to find out how to make these people slip up and catch them.

I don't know that I make this book sound as awesome as it was. Yes, it was kind of obvious who was who and all that, but that wasn't the main focus of the book. Not only was it about finding out who was trying to kill the Princess, but also about the characters finding out who they are and how to handle that. They learn to accept their choices and their lives and do something about it. Plus there was some romance thrown in that is always a plus, yes people I like a little romance.

I think anyone who likes history or princessy tales would love this. Yes, I just made up a word. I'm cool like that. Oh and a lot of talk about horses. Horsey loves would like this too!!
