I couldn’t bear it any more. I closed my ears by flapping them shut under my paws…but that wasn’t enough to stop their words from reaching me. Somehow, too, I am learning a new skill, and have been doing a lot of work on our church's website. I'm not sure if I will ever grasp the intricacies of the technical side, but I am enjoying designing the pages and writing updates on our blog and providing much creative input. I am finding this very satisfying.

I enjoy having time to exercise each day, dashing out in the morning then coming home and spending an hour or so making our house a home. I am delighting in making sure that my busy husband has very little to do around here once he gets home from work apart from that which he wants to do. We shared chores for so long; now, it is nice to do this for him, because I can. :) I have been gardening and cleaning long-neglected corners. I have had plenty of time to pause and dwell on my Father, in the midst of ordinary things. I have seen friends, too, and had plenty of time for fun.

Yesterday, a dear friend of mine and I went to the opening of Tiffany's in Perth. We weren't part of the glamourous champagne set, but watched the festivities from the warmth of the coffee shop across the street, over big bowls of porridge and roasted fruit. With three kids under the age of 6, I am all about finding shortcuts and inexpensive ways to make my house a home that is inviting, so most of these ideas will be simple and quick...nothing extravagant for me...we'll leave that to Martha Stewart!  

Today I will share a dessert recipe that I love to bring to parties.  Everyone loves it and no one can ever guess what the ingredients are.  I got this recipe from Monica Hand several years ago and I have made it dozens of times...I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

TEXAS CRUNCH:

Saltine Crackers

1 cup butter (2 sticks)

1 cup light brown sugar

1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 bags peanut butter chips

• Heat oven to 350 degrees
• Spread foil on cookie sheet, cover with saltine crackers, side by side. 
• Bring butter and brown sugar to a boil.  Do not stir.  Let boil for 4 minutes.
• Pour mixture over crackers, bake for 6 minutes.
• Straighten crackers with a fork
• Pour chocolate and peanut butter chips on top of crackers.  
• Let sit for 15 minutes.  Swirl with a fork.  (If chips are not melted, you can put the cookie sheet back in the oven for a few minutes, but make sure the oven is just warm.)
• Refrigerate for 2 hours.
• Peel foil from back and break into pieces.

Luke and I recently completed our Fall Of Efrafa remix/reimagining and if I do say myself it's probably one of the best things I've ever been associated with. Totally stoked on how it turned out. I wasn't sure if it was ever going to get finished or see the light of day but after almost a year of us doing little bits here and there and then about a month of intense hard work at the end, we got it done.

It only really came together though after Alex from FOE had managed to persuade 2 labels to put up the money to release it... despite the fact that neither Alex nor either label had heard a note, or there even really being anything worthwhile to play to them! I think after placing that much trust in Luke and I, we realised we'd better produce something worthy of it.

And thankfully I think we did, definitely surpassing my expectations of what we could do! It's a 15 minute epic... we took their song 'Dominion Theology' completely taking it apart and then putting it back together layering extra guitars, piano and cello (courtesy of my good friend Tom Cook) and even synth! We went all out on constructing as much atmosphere and subtlety around the original that we could, but also adding extra melodies, enhancing certain sections... It was a lot of fun to do.

It's coming out in the upcoming weeks, on Sound Devastation records and Tadpole records. It's going to be a one-sided 12" record, with the b-side screen-printed. It's going to look sweet. It will sell out. These are all facts. If you want a copy, you pretty much HAVE to pre-order it, or come to the release party as there's no guarantee I can hold you a copy. sorry! Hopefully we can sort out some way of making it available digitally at some point.
