While Tropical Storm Hanna (no, not Hannah Montana) pays a visit to our area, why not blow a few minutes on the Internet?

There are two sites I have added to the blogroll this week. First, there's The Balloon Man in Dover. Dick's site is described as "Anything to do with the Outdoor Entertainment Industry." It is a very cool site to browse featuring many different graphics. I don't know Dick well enough to say anything about his statement "Being an old Balloon Peddler". I will leave that one alone. He does know Howard however, and Howard is fair game, I think...

Another site that was added is 10ThirtyOne To Glory, a blog written by David, a pastor in Seaford. My friend Scott (who's first name is also David) alerted me to this one. David's site is described as "A Mix of Theology, Church Life, Politics, Philosophy, and Culture."

A "rushalanche" is a huge amount of hits a site receives after being mentioned on the Rush Limbaugh program. With that in mind, I need to warn Dick and David to be prepared for the "elbertalanche", which is described as "0.000000001% of a rushalanche" although it is probably less than that.

I've gotten an email and read a post about this next site. Delaware Talk Radio is "Delaware’s First Internet-Only Radio Station to Serve Delaware with News, Opinion, Blogs, Talk Radio." It's anchors are Randy Nelson and Dave Burris. Nelson used to be on WGMD a year or two ago. Burris runs DelawarePolitics.com. This looks interesting. I will keep an eye on this one.

I have had a thought rattling around in my head that's worth sharing here. I have seen many sites that share a common bond in the state of Delaware referred to as the "Delaware Conservative Bloggers Alliance". While working at this blog for a while I've met many bloggers from the western side of Sussex County. We have some things in common politically and most everything else is generally unique to our blog but complimentary to each other's content. In my opinion we seem to get along and at the very least share that common geographical bond that is Western Sussex. We also provide links to each other's blogs. Why not make that loose bond more official and refer to it has the Western Sussex Bloggers Alliance? Yeah, it's a silly idea, but I was tired of it rattling around in my head. It can rattle around the Internet now.

So I've been meaning to post a few more Random Spotlights, but I was pre-occupied with the content for today's Spotlight. Today will be a two-part Random Spotlight, Featuring Country you might actually like, and perhaps one of the funniest movie reviewers on the Internet.

First Up Sleepercar:

Earlier this week I've had the privilege to see Sleepercar at the Rickshaw Stop In San Francisco. Sleepercar is the latest project by Former At The Drive-In Member, And Lead Singer Of Sparta Jim Ward.

You can imagine how stoked I was to see one of the founding members of At The Drive-In less than five-feet away from me.

But even with how Star struck I was, I have to say that the music was really good. This music would be considered "Alt-Country" and if this is the direction that country will be going in then its a much needed one.

Enough with the ignorant, cliche stereotypes of tractors, cattle, ford trucks, and Toby Keith's. It's time for a new honest direction in country. Something the genre hasn't seen since the days of the Highwaymen.

In any case check them out

My Favorite Tracks:
-A Broken Promise
-Wasting My Time
-Fences Down

Links:

Official Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/sleepercarwesttexas

Part 2: That Guy With Glasses:

So one of the videos I follow is that of the Angry Video Game Nerd. A satirical web-series of the nerd reviewing bad retro games.

Recently he had a "feud" with a fellow Internet reviewer, Only he reviews movies. So last week I decided to see what the hubbub was about and honestly ever since then, I have been hooked on anything this guy does. It is hilarious, deffenatly one of the funniest guys on the Internet.

Now when you get to the site you will notice that under videos, you will have plenty of options. Take my advice, go under "That Guy With The Glasses" and start with the "Nostalgia Critic" Then you can move on to Bum Reviews, and so on. So go check it out while your at it check out the Angry Video Game Nerd, as well as my personal favorite retro game reviewer PlayItBogart

PlayItBogart: http://www.revver.com/u/PlayItBogart/

So there you have it. Enough content that should keep you busy for a while. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Take care guys, & gals.

10:25pm

So in the midst of earthquakes, oil changes, leaking valve lids, and feeling left out of the church band I landed myself a new job.

What takes the cake this time around was that I did it without the help of any organization. Only with the help of some of my friends editing my resume, and helping me print out copies, which I thank them gratefully for.

It just made my day better, knowing that I start a new job, and that I have a second chance to get it right, the best part is that I'M NO LONGER GONNA BE BROKE!!!!!!!!! With no band to suck my money from, the sky is the limit.

Granted I'm mostly going to be saving money, and paying bills, and fixing my car, but I'll still have spare a few bucks for a night out. So yeah so far it looks like things might be on there way back up. FINALLY!!!!

But I wanted to take this time to thank everyone that helped me through these past 3 months (practically the whole summer!!!!) I really appreciate it. Thanks.

So staytuned to, chhasajob.wordpress.com, to see how the new job goes!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so historically I am terrible with women/girls. I don’t know how to talk to them, I don

Ok so historically I am terrible with women/girls. I don't know how to talk to them, I don't know how to treat them, and I certainly don't know how to make them happy.

But lately I have been making the effort. Overtime, I've learned that you just simply talk. Keep them interested, captivated, maybe throw in a joke or two. Then they would at least be in their good graces.

Now the key is not to see them as potential girlfriends, or rag dolls. The point is to see them as a friend, and work your way from there. If you give off the impression that they are gonna be your girl, then you might scare them off. Now slowly but surely I have been doing so.

So why is it that there are times where I'm just trying to be friends with a girl and they are non responsive?

So there's this girl that a friend of mine knows (lets call her girl A), and it turns out that she is single. I think "ok that's cool, just try to be her friend.". The first time I met her I just talked to her, talking about what she does, what she plans, where did she just graduate from you know somewhat meaningful stuff. Nothing extreme or anything, i just wanted to get to know her. I cracked a few jokes, and she laughed. It didn't look like a pity laugh or an uncomfortable laugh, it looked a little more genuine than that, but I could be wrong. I leave thinking, and I guess knowing that I made a good impression.

So my friend (lets call him guy A), tells me that I should talk to her through myspace. I thought cool, a good way to talk to her, nothing to threatening right ?

Anyway, I leave her a friendly comment just asking how she's doing, she responds that shes doing well just looking for a job, and I say cool I'm doing the same. I then just commented her on her profile song...then I don't get any response. It's ok maybe shes not online right now, the next day...nothing, Well I shouldn't be to worried some people suck at returning comments (Like I do), plus I shouldn't get too worked up I mean come on its just myspace, so I let it go.

4 days later...Still nothing.

So anyway I go to art & soul festival, One of the bands she was into also played that day. I know this because on her page she proudly claims "I Love *Insert That Band Name Here*" So I leave her a comment "hey this band is pretty cool" FINALLY she comments back "oh you were there too, yeah their awesome" I comment back "cool you were there too, wasn't that show great? so anyway how are you doing?"............its been 5 days since I left that comment AND STILL NO RESPONSE. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!

I shouldn't get worked up about this but seriously? Nothing? Not a "oh sorry I haven't commented back I've been busy lately" not even a "I think your a great guy but could you keep you're distance" or "Im sorry but I have a boyfriend" really Nothing?!

COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have any ulterior motives. I'm not trying to get you to be my girl, I'm not trying to get you in the sack, I'm not trying to rape you, I'm not trying to stalk you, I'm not trying to rob, I'm not trying to use you to know someone you know, I'm not trying to do anything.

The only thing I'm trying to do is to be your friend, and get to know you better. Now if anything were to become of us then it happens, but if it doesn't its ok because at least I have a friend!!!!!

Did I come off as a creep?

Did I come off as a rapist?

Did I come off as a dick?

Cause if I did I wasn't trying to.

I think of myself as one of the few honest guys you will ever meet, because I don't try to be anything I'm not, I don't try to put myself above anyone, I'm not mean, I'm nicer than most people, and so on.

It's stuff like this that really fucking confuses me about women. What the fuck do you want?

Do you want a hug?

Do you want a teddy bear?

Do you want a fig newton?

WHAT DO YOU WANT?!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry if this comes out like if I hate women, and if that certain person does read this then I'm sorry but I feel like I came off like a douche.

Seriously what memo did I not get?

Help me out.

Psalm 141:3 (NIV), “Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips”.

Psalm 141:3 (NIV), “Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips”.

What we say can have such a powerful impact on those to whom we speak. Our text says, "Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips”. We can use our tongue to to bring forth life. From the doors of our lips, we can bless someone or crush them.

Imagine if you will, that inside the door of your lips, there is an abundance of blessing and life ready to come out, but there are also things that can come out from the doors of our lips that are not so godly. The Bible says in Luke 6:45 (DARBY), “The good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth good; and the wicked [man] out of the wicked, brings forth what is wicked: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

The Bible says Proverbs 30:32 (NIV), "If you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth!" Just like the picture of the three little monkeys, who clapped their hands over their eyes, ears, and mouth, to see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil, do not let bad words open and come out from the door of your lips. For the Bible says in Proverbs 18:21(NIV), “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”.

My friend, today let us speak words of life, wholeness and healing to those we talk to, words that build people up rather than tear them down. Colossians 4:6 (KJV) says, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man”. The Bible also says in Proverbs 16:2 (NIV), “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones”. It is worth remembering this little nugget of truth: "Lord, make my words pleasant, and sweet, for tomorrow I may have to eat them”.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.

There are not many things that you can count upon, but there is one thing for sure, the one thing that you can depend upon, is this: Hebrews 13:8 (KJV), “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever”.

The same Jesus of the Bible is unchanged; he never cripples, wounds or destroys. He lifts the fallen, forgives the sinners, and heals the sick. He saves to the uttermost, those who call to Him. He is a friend to those who are lonely. He reaches out to the lost and helps those who turn to Him. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. This same Jesus of the Bible is still the same healing, delivering, compassionate, loving, forgiving and all-powerful Jesus. Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

When the Apostle Peter addressed the crowd on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem , he said to them in Acts 2:36 (KJV), “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ”. This same Jesus, is the same Messiah, same Lord, same Christ who saved, delivered, and set free those who were oppressed, healed the sick, and raised the dead. This same Jesus will do the same for you today, for in Him there is no shadow of turning, He is always the same. What He has done for others, he will do for you. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever.

As you've seen, I have had several different "descriptions" on the site:

Who Knows What Will Show Up Here

Stuff Elbert like… err, likes.

Laurel's #1 Blog

I had an idea of using a Joe Biden quote, obviously taken out of context, but it's funnier that way:

"I had a successful dump."

It's not a "description" of the site, but just a funny statement, much like Brian's blog title. Any opinions?
