4 out of 5 of these women are black, which is not too far off. I looked at the demographic of Atlanta and African Americans make up 61.39% of the city's population. But, remember these women live in the burbs. I looked for demographics in Alpharetta and race was not mentioned. My suburban housewife friends have told me the demographics in their children's schools are so diverse-representing so many countries it looks like a Benetton ad. These mothers bragged about this feeling this would make for a well rounded education for their child; so I am guessing the burbs are not 61% African American.

A few comments I heard from clips of this show on Entrtainment Tonight that made me really look up from my laptop were-- the one white woman said she was "A black girl in a white girls body." And another woman said that Atlanta was the black Hollywood.

Atlanta may be the black Hollywood with all the rappers and athletes here. But, I thought it was odd that the producers would use the clip of this white woman and she would feel the need to mention she had some type black connection. To me, this screamed we have no intentions of being diverse.

What if the only black woman on a show with 4 other white women said, "I am a white woman in a black body?" First, I would feel sorry for this woman that she was not happy in her own skin. Secondly, this black woman would probably hear from her race many comments about this statement.

Personally, I do not care about her race. But wonder what about Atlanta or the suburbs are the producers saying/portraying.

Bravo reveals 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' preview to air July 30

Cross another state off Bravo's ever-growing The Real Housewives list. 

The network has announced that it will air a 30-minute "special preview" of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, another new version of its The Real Housewives reality franchise, on Wednesday, July 30 at 12 AM ET/PT. 

The Real Housewives of Atlanta marks Bravo's third attempt to replicate its original The Real Housewives of Orange County reality series.  The first spinoff, The Real Housewives of New York City, debuted this past spring.  Similar to the format's West Coast original, it follows five New York women (only four of whom are actually married) as they attempt to juggle their busy schedules and highfalutin lifestyles. 

The network announced it had ordered new seasons of both reality shows  -- Orange County'sfourth and New York City's second -- back in April.  

At the same time, Bravo had also announced it had ordered The Real Housewives of New Jersey, a second spinoff of the format.  The show will follow five of the Garden State's most affluent women and their families, including the "McMansions and lavish lifestyles of these women and all the drama that money can buy," according to Bravo.  

Why the network has now decided to debut -- at least in "special preview" form -- the previously unannounced Atlanta edition before the New Jersey edition remains unclear, however Bravo is still proceeding with New Jersey edition, according to a network spokesperson.  Except for today's Atlanta"special preview" announcement, the network has not announced a regular premiere date for either new edition yet.  When it debuts, The Real Housewives of Atlanta's season will air as seven one-hour episodes.  

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is being produced by True Entertainment, an Endemol subsidiary, with Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh, Shari Solomon Cedar and Kenny Hull serving as the show' executive producers. True's previous credits include Gastineau Girls, HGTV Design Star, and Unwrapping Macy's.  (Although they share a common branding, each The Real Housewives version is produced independently.  The Real Housewives of Orange County is produced by Evolution Film & Tape whileThe Real Housewives of New York City is produced by Ricochet Television.) 

The five women who will be featured in The Real Housewives of Atlanta's season -- and their Bravo-released bios -- will be: 

DeShawn Snow -- Snow and her husband Eric, captain of the Cleveland Cavaliers, recently moved to their dream home in Alpharetta, GA. Mother to three boys: nine-year-old EJ, six-year-old Darius and five-year-old Jarren, Snow is an active member of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. She exercises her faith by running The DeShawn Snow Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving self-esteem in teenage girls. She is a regular on the Atlanta social circuit and extremely active in local philanthropy, sitting on the board of three different charities, all while expertly juggling her busy social calendar with being an NBA wife and keeping up with her boys. 

Kim Zolciak -- Zolciak lives in an exclusive gated townhouse community in Duluth, GA with her two children, 11-year-old Brielle and six-year-old Ariana. Zolciak is single, but happily dating with hopes to marry again in the near future. She also has her sights set on fame in the music business as a country singer, and is currently working with Grammy award-winning mega-producer Dallas Austin and will begin recording an album later this year. A staple on the Atlanta scene, Zolciak balances life as a single mom with a vivacious social life. 

Lisa Wu Hartwell -- Hartwell, a resident of a luxurious country club community in Duluth, GA, is a busy career woman who wears many hats - she owns her own real estate firm, Hartwell & Associates, a jewelry line called Wu Girls, a baby clothing line, Hart 2 Hart Baby, and juggles a budding acting, modeling and writing career. She's a devoted wife to her husband, NFL player Ed Hartwell, and their three children 13-year-old Jordan, ten-year-old Justin and one-year-old EJ. When she's not running one of her many businesses or running after the kids, Hartwell is very active in Atlanta's social scene. 

NeNe Leakes -- Leakes is an active member of Atlanta society. She resides in the upscale Sugarloaf area of Atlanta with her husband Gregg, a successful real estate investor and business consultant, and their two sons, 18-year-old Brice and nine-year-old Brentt. Leakes donates her time to various foundations and is the founder of The Twisted Hearts Foundation, which brings awareness to domestic violence against women. Never one to sit still, the outspoken social butterfly also hopes to open a luxury boutique hotel in the very near future. 

Sheree Whitfield -- Single socialite Whitfield, a resident of the exclusive Sandy Springs area of Atlanta, juggles her busy home life with a packed social calendar. She is a busy working mother to three children -Tierra, Kairo and Kaleigh. Whitfield prides herself on her fashion sense, and owned her own upscale clothing boutique - Bella Azul - for years before closing up shop to focus on her next business venture, a clothing line called "She by Sheree." Whitfield is opening a new chapter in her life as a single mom while balancing her entrepreneurial spirit and active social life.

The waiting is over. The show aired. Kathy was hysterical. I couldn't be prouder of Sam. India was even more beautiful than I remembered (if that's possible) and none of you saw the best/funniest stuff.

After Kathy made out with India, Sam was dared to make out with a straight girl, and I was dared to... well, let's just say that the lesson learned was not to wear just a Speedo to a game of Truth or Dare, especially with Kathy Griffin and India Brooks.  Naugty girls. Here are the photos...

Neither of us was about to chicken out. That's me on the left. That's the reaction on the right.

The show captured only a fraction of the warmth and fun Kathy and Team Griffin brought to the vacation. She's a wonderfully warm and razor sharp force of nature. Bora Bora was incredible, and made even more so by her presence there. We made friends for life, and that story is ongoing.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night, and mad, mad love to Vinnie and Billy who hosted the screening in their beautiful home in Laguna. Thanks boys!

Perez Hilton is reporting that comedian Kathy Griffin's long-time assistant, Jessica Zajicek, has quit. For the past few years, Jessica has not only been Kathy's right-hand-woman, she has also been a staple on Kathy's Emmy winning "My Life on the D-List."

Perez's source is saying that the split - which happened earlier this month - is "not pretty" and that Jessica has had enough of Kathy and "couldn't take it anymore."

i'm addicted to bravo! tv now. i love most of their shows...i just don't love that they repeat them every day, multiple times a day. my favs..."project runway" & "shear genius." (minus the whole jacklyn (or however you spell her damned name) smith hosting...bleck!) but i really am hating almost the whole cast of the new "project runway" season. especially stella, jerell, & suede. WHO CALLS THEMSELVES SUEDE?! (he actually calls himself that...as in the 3rd person...) does he think he's madonna? (who btw, is a whore. i hate her. forever & ever. break up a marriage...not even her own yet. GROSS.)

there has been some drama in the ryan household. first off, my family is messy. they don't rinse out dirty dishes, take care of their laundry, take their clothes out of the dryer/washer, or replace the toilet paper in the bathrooms. my sisters are slobs. the bathroom is gross; there's hair everywhere, trash bags sitting open, empty tubes/bottles of crap, & a straightener that tends to stay on. it's like a house you see on tv, where the guy had tons of dogs, & smoked pot all the time, & had a meth lab.

andrew & i are going to be going to charlotte sometime at the beginning of august. i'm excited, because i get to meet his brother & sister-in-law. & maybe see his parents, & meet pug? (i'm dying to see her...she sounds so cute!) but above all that, we're spending our 3month anniversary together. which is a big deal; 3 months alone makes this the longest relationship i've ever had. ever. & i'm 20years old. how sad is that? so sad. but i'm trying to figure out cutesy & romantic things to do. what to make for dinner? candles or no candles? flowers, & if so, what kind? what movie to watch, if we watch one? SO MANY THINGS TO FIGURE OUT, & so little time!

next week, i babysit these two adorable boys. their parents are both going to be out of the country, so it's a big deal. they like to play wii & swim & be cute little boys. i'm so excited! i'm thinking a movie one day, hands-on lunches, lots of swimming, & idk what else. i've never babysat kids for more than a few hours. what do little kids like to do these days? the zoo? there are no parks...what kind of movie to take them to? is there any kiddie movie out that a 3year-old can see? i need suggestions, & ASAP. i start thursday. & i have to go to the airport with them to pick up their mom. so we'll make posters for her, & i'll get lost on the way there. i hope they don't notice...

8:00: "Any decision involving Suede not going home is a good one." How about changing your name?

8:02: Kelli gets first pick at the models, so she sticks with her model from the first. Jerell is salty because Jennifer took his model. Ooh! And Belle is out, even though she was super-cute.

8:04: Next challenge is cocktail dresses, where the models are clients. The designers head off to the workroom, where Tim fills them in on the details. Green fabrics -- cool but kinda ho-hum. The twist? The models are going to pick the material. Uh-oh.

8:06: Mood is mayhem as the models shop for organic fabrics. Models return to surprise the designers (who are preparing to be let down), who find the models made bad choices in fabric, and didn't even get much. What is Keith going to do with peacock feathers? Jerell's model must have gotten some help from him, as she brought back good fabrics, trimmings in abundance.

8:11: Patrick: "this shit is fucking wack." I agree.

8:16: Emily seems sincere but sounds flaky when talking about what she'd like to do to save the environment.

8:16: Blayne thinks Heidi is like Darth Vader, all shiny on the outside but crazy on the inside.

8:17: Kenley's Bettie Page drag is starting to bug me, and we're only in the second challenge. Korto is working with her model's curvy figure. Stella is having problems with Kendall's hippie aesthetic clashing with her urban sensibility.

8:19: Keith's fucking hot. Yes, even with that weird rattail thingie. And Suede's the kind of dude who talks about himself in the third person. Oh dear.

8:19: Wesley, Joe, and Leanne have the same fabric. Leanne's reaction is to start going crazy with circles.

8:20: Korto worries that her pleating looks too much like Wesley's. Leanne doesn't think so, and maybe Korto's just a little paranoid? Just another distraction -- just get back to work!

8:21: Tim checks in. To Korto: "Everything on this has to be perfection, or you're going to be dealing with a hot mess." OMFG, I bet he and Christian are BFF.

8:23: Patrick: "leane is a poor mans cat power."

8:24: No immunity, but the winner will have their dress made and sold by Bluefly.com. And because the challenge is about young, beautiful women, the guest judge will be... Natalie Portman. Okay, Tim doesn't give it away, but it's already been spoiled all over the web.

8:26: C-break. I'm scanning Christian Siriano's collection at Bluefly. I lurve this dress. Too bad I'm too fat for it. Boo hoo!

8:28: Stell's droning about "making her leathuh", and everybody's still complaining about the crappy fabric. Blayne makes fun of Stella, but she dishes him right back, everybody laughs, and the tension is broken. Aw.

8:30: Somebody should have told Daniel, who is super-nervous, and not close to being finished. He's not the only one freaking, as designers are coming in to find broken zippers, etc. Tim is disappointed that most folks are not finished, but comfortable that they can finish up. "Make it work!"

8:31: Blayne: "Come 'ere, Liciousness!" Whatever.

8:34: Models head off to the runway. I miss a lot of last-minute rushing as I IM with Patrick about how, no matter who it is, the chief makeup artist is always a total sweetie whenever called upon to consult with the designers for a particularly critical challenge. So zen.

8:35: Alison's turn to make a dress inspired by the Saturn Aura. So cute to hear her say "Saturn" with her cute lisp. I wanna carry her around in a cupcake purse. Does that sound weird?

8:38: Heidi welcomes the designers to the runway, reiterating the challenge and the prize: the winning look will be manufactured and sold by Bluefly.com. They meet the judges -- Michael, Nina, and... an empty chair, which is soon taken by Natalie Portman. The designers cheer for Natalie, who walks down the runway in a beautiful green dress. She plugs the vegan shoe line -- which is expensive, considering it uses fake leather.

• Keith: Looks like gold curtains.
• Terri: Ruffles!
• Wesley: Shiny, and the fit? Hm.
• Jerell: Sexy? It's very Michael Knight to me, with the reverse cleavage.

• Wesley: Wanted more volume originally. Heidi feels it's completely overworked. Nina: "I think shiny, tight, and short is the quickest way to look cheap."
• Stella: Nina says "It's much improved from last time." Bwahahahahaha.
• Korto: Loved the fabric, wanted to accentuate her model's curves. To Natalie, the dress looks inside out.
• Suede: He explains how he used the bias strips to make patterns. It's really fucking cute. Natalie totally would wear it. The judges are impressed that he took the same satin the other designers had and made it into something new.
• Leanne: It's not quite what the model pictured, unfortunately. Petals, asymmetrical, it's all over the place.

8:48: The judges discuss, and dismiss. Love for Suede, Kenley, Stella?. Did not like Wesley (too tight, too short, tortured the fabric), Korto (fins!), Leanne (all over the place).

8:53: C-break. Patrick likes Stella's dress. Which I think is a bit too Frederick's of Hollywood: observe.

8:54: Patrick: "I think [Eliot Spitzer] should be a guest judge."

8:56: Stella is in, and the winner is... Suede! Yay! He gives love to his mom. Kenley is safe, and leaves the runway. Following her is Korto, also in, but she can't help breaking down when she gets backstage.

8:57: Wesley's design was unflatting, and had poor fit. Leanne had too many ideas: "We asked for fashion, and we got a school project." Leanne, however, is in. Really? Leanne whispers "Thank you so much." as she slouches off the runway. Wesley, though auf'd, is proud to have even made it, and can leave with his head held high.

8:59: Patrick: "poor man zac posenis gone."

Yeah, but the bad part is that the cable guy is supposed to come tonight - Boy is constantly troubled by the annoying flicker of the screen and has been on the phone with them countless times in the past two weeks trying to fix it.  Well, I'm worried, because I want to be able to watch the two hours of television I actually enjoy.  Let's hope things go well.

Natalie Portman is taking a judges chair as a guest judge on "Project Runway" which is set to air tonight @ 9:00pm on Bravo.  She is following the footsteps of past celebs like Debra Messing, Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham.

Natalie will be judging the newest contestants of designer hopefuls on their ability to make eco-friendly designs on the hit reality show.  Back in February, Natalie debuted a line of vegan shoes in joining with Te' Casan shoe designers.

Other celebs to follow in Natalie's footsteps this season and sit along side Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia will be LL Cool J, Brooke Shields, Cynthia Rowley, Apolo Anton Ohno, Styist Rachel Zoe and Diane Von Furstenberg.

I say (possibly) because we don't know how the show was edited and if we're in or out until the party on Thursday evening, where we'll see it simulcast with the Eastern Standard Time broadcast (three hours earlier than the rest of L.A.)

As you will recall, we went to Bora Bora in the Spring, so I could interview Kathy for Passport Magazine. We couldn't show you all of the pictures, for a couple of reasons. First off, we didn't want to spoil anything in the show, and second, well, let's just say that Bronson's exhibitionist tendencies are international, and about to (possibly) be broadcast reality TV.

That said, Kathy Griffin has replaced James Brown as the hardest working person in show business. She is a force of nature who has turned a funny conceit: doing 'D-List' gigs around the world, into a grassroots campaign to win fans (and one Emmy, maybe two) one "shabby" little space after another – and this season, the spaces aren't so shabby.

My money says that we're in, so check it out. xo

Wendy asked me the other day about this and I forgot to respond, so I thought I'd post it here. Yes, Project Runway is back and it's an interesting group this year. Some crazies, some seemingly meek women designers, some delusional ones, and some hidden gems. I don't have any predictions yet, but perhaps soon.

There's one contestant from Washington state: Blayne. He's from Yakima, which is in the central part of the state, not on the west side, like I am. I'm not sure yet what I think of him, but his first outfit was hideous and he was completely delusional that it looked great. I think that's what's fun about this show is these designers get this twisted view of reality creating stuff that no woman would be seen dead in. On the other hand, there are some who really create some amazing (for lack of a better adjective) designs.

Blayne's bio says he was named "Seattle's most stylish male". Are you kidding me? Although what he's wearing in this picture is pretty representative of most guys his age that I see in the software business.

Here's the winning design by Kelli. What's amazing about this is she made this out of vacuum cleaner bags. They also showed us how she made hooks and eyes for the back out of the wire from spiral notebooks. Ingenious! Brilliant!

The whole reason for this blog is because I was changing channels while i was on the elliptic machine at the gym, and out of the 8 channels my gym offers, this was the only one with programming somewhat even watchable.  (yes....THATS how horrible all the channel choices are...that SHEAR GENIUS was the top choice for programming.)  And i have to watch with closed captioning because i listen to music.  And all i saw was a challenge involving doing someone's hair for the red carpet.  Ok so it wasn't as bad as the stevie wonder challenge, but still pretty horrible all around.  Every single person said the same thing as the hair went down the runway.  No joke.  I read this line about 8 times in a row.  

"When I saw my hairstyle come down the runway, I couldnt have been happier.  I thought it looked sheik, elegant, and classy.  Just like you would imagine a red carpet hairstyle would be."  

WTF?  Couldnt you feed different lines to your contestants, bravo?  I mean, big brother can do it.  So why cant you.  

And I honestly dont see how the viewer at home is supposed to know that "oh this is a great cut" or "oh that one isnt done that well".  THEY ALL LOOK LIKE SHIT!  At least with americas next top model, you can pick out who is gonna be in the top just by seeing the pictures.  But hairstyles.....WTF?  

At least its not as bad as GROOMER HAS IT.  Yes, its a real show.  Google it.  Ill leave you with this parting clip from groomer has it.  "im just at a loss for words..."

Remember Sarah Jessica Parker's guest appearance on "Project Runway"? Well, she's back. This time, Bravo will host SJP's new show, "American Artist", an art world's version of "Project" that encompasses among other mediums, painting and sculpture.

Hm...imagining a modern interpretation of the Statue of David juxtaposed with a shadow box by an edgy, nuvo Salvador Dali. Well, when wasn't Dali edgy? But you get the idea. The possibilities are infinite (like "black-hole" infinite) especially in classifying art, let alone "good art". This should be interesting.

Sarah Jessica Parker has landed a new show for the Bravo channel!  It will be an hour long art competition reality show that is like Project Runway but for artists.  Aspiring artists compete to produce various styles of artwork (painting, sculpting, etc.), which is then judged by a panel of experts.

I get comments so often, though, along the lines of "How can you like such a show about an industry that objectifies women?" or "How can you support that when all they do is cater to the skinny chicks?"

I like it primarily for the evolvement of the creative process that it shows. But I also like it because whether you're fat or skinny, you can see how and why something works or doesn't as it's being made. Seeing it from that point of view also helps you see it more objectively when you go shopping.

(Plus, the show's just plain fun to watch.)
