<title><![CDATA[Finanzmarkt und Verantwortung: Paradoxon oder Notwendigkeit?]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Während uns die globale Finanzkrise Tag für Tag um die Ohren pfeift und Notenbanken sowie Regierungen eifrig an Auffangplänen und Notfall-Fonds basteln, stellte sich für mich in letzter Zeit des öfteren die Frage, wie man eine solche Misere zukünftig verhindern könnte.</p>
<p>Regierungen tun natürlich gut daran, derzeit über (internationale) Regulierungen des Finanzmarktes zu diskutieren, mittels derer mehr Transparenz und Kontrolle erreicht werden soll. Doch solche Lösungen brauchen einerseits ihre Zeit, bis sie implementiert werden, andererseits stellt sich in dieser Hinsicht natürlich auch die Frage, welche Form der Selbstregulierung und der Verantwortung die Finanzbranche übernehmen kann, soll oder muss...</p>
<p>...also Corporate Social Responsibility für Investmentbanken und Wertpapier-Spekulanten? Klingt einfach, ist meiner Ansicht nach jedoch schwierig:</p>
<p>CSR heißt ja bekanntlicherweise, dass man gesellschaftliche und ökologische Belange auf eine Stufe mit finanziellen Zielen stellt, Interessen des Unternehmens auf eine Ebene mit Interessen der Stakeholder stellt und das Unternehmen als wertstiftende Instanz definiert. Und das ist am Finanzmarkt heikel, denn immerhin geht es hier (soweit ich weiß) grundsätzlich um kein anderes Ziel als Geld zu vermehren und das ganz steril mit "neutralem" Buchgeld, ohne dass damit eine wertstiftende Instanz verbunden ist (Anm.: Sollte ich mit dieser Annahme falsch liegen, bitte um Aufklärung...). Geld arbeitet hier des Geldes wegen. Hinzu kommt, dass Finanztransaktionen einem sehr kurzfristigen Zeitraum unterliegen, Konzepte wie Unternehmenskultur und Verantwortungsstrategie jedoch einem langfristigen Planungshorizont unterliegen.</p>
<p>Auf der anderen Seite jedoch - und das ist wichtig zu betonen - besteht das Konzept der CSR neben einer sozialen und ökologischen auch aus einer ökonomischen Säule, das heißt, dass modernes Unternehmertum auch wirtschaftliche Nachhaltigkeit erfordert - dies wäre sicherlich jener Teil der CSR, bei dem die Akteure der Finanzmärkte ansetzen müssten...</p>
<p>Somit wird die Konstellation "Finanzmarkt und Verantwortung" meines Erachtens das relevanteste CSR-Thema sein, das in nächster Zeit zu diskutieren ist. Für mich ist es jedenfalls "Top of the List" meiner Recherchen, über Hinweise und Diskussionsbeiträge in diese Richtung wäre sehr dankbar. Erste von mir gefundene Ansätze in diese Richtung wären:</p>
<ul>
<li>Ende November findet in Arnoldshain/Deutschland die Tagung „Transparenz auf den Finanzmärkten“ statt, es soll dabei explizit auch Anknüpfungspunkte zum Thema CSR geben. Nähere Infos gibt's <a href="http://csr-news.net/main/2008/10/02/tagung-mehr-transparenz-auf-den-finanzmarkten-wodurch-ein-beitrag-zu-csr/">hier</a>.</li>
<li>Derzeit wird gerade an einer ISO-Norm zur Selbstregulierung von Rating-Agenturen gearbeitet, treibende Kraft dahinter sind die Agenturen selbst - einen Bericht dazu gibt's <a href="http://www.glocalist.at/index.php?id=20&#38;tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=4579&#38;cHash=c2884fb64d">hier</a> in der heutigen Ausgabe von <a href="http://www.glocalist.at/">"Glocalist"</a> .</li>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What the hell kind of world do we live in when you <a href="http://thisdevilsworkday.wordpress.com/2008/10/08/let-there-be-wedding-bells/">can't even incite an argument</a> on the internet anymore? Oh well, it's hardly been 24 hours, I'm sure the birds will come feeding soon enough.</p>
<p>Anyway...</p>
<p>Today I met... well... met is the incorrect word. Today two very different worlds came into my line of vision.</p>
<p>At university tonight we had a special guest lecturer; <a href="http://www.companydirectors.com.au/About/Speakers/B/Henry+Bosch+AO+FAICD.htm">Professor Henry Bosch AO</a>. At the risk of giving away some of my precious identity (like anyone cares), Sir Henry Bosch spoke to the class for about an hour and a half regarding his history in relation to business, in particular, corporate governance.</p>
<p>Here is a man who has led a rather interesting life, and has had a larger impact on Australian business than the average man on the street would realise. Back in the late 1980's (1987 to be exact) a similar event occured in the marketplace to what is happening now. As a result of this event, a lot more rules and regulations were required for the corporate industry, another wave of which is likely to hit over the next few years. Henry Bosch was one of the main Australian figures in developing the principles that influenced such legislation and governance principles in Australia.</p>
<p>Then on my way to the train station, I arrived at a small group of rough looking individuals, tattoos, Harley Davidsons at the ready, and cigars between their fingers. Which man sat at the centre of this group? None other than the infamous <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Gatto">Mick Gatto</a>.</p>
<p>Here is a man who has led a rather interesting life, and has had a significant impact on the lives of Melburnians, but to what extent is up for debate. All criticism of the man aside (I don't judge on fictional television portrayals), it struck me as a rather interesting dichotomy, since I was leaving Professor Bosch's speech contemplating what kind of career I was going to end up with, and what kind of man I'm going to become.</p>
<p>Sometimes I feel like I'm in high school sports class, and they're picking teams, but both teams want me. Egotistic impressions aside, one team is the "win-at-all-costs", "let's make a lot of money" team who is all about success in a financial and corporate sense, and the other is the "let's make the world a better place", "let's do the right thing" team who is all about success in a philanthropic and corporate social responsibility sense.</p>
<p>I feel like both teams are coaxing me to join their side, but in reality, I want to be in both. I want to wear both colours and pass the ball to everyone.</p>
<p>Thankfully, the world isn't as black and white as people try to suggest with labels and categories. I <em>can</em> be both, even if that does require some serious planning.</p>
<p>There's no chance I'll be anything like Mick Gatto, and I don't plan on writing any reports about corporate governance, these are merely an example of the massive different kinds of lives we can live, assuming we want to be influential.</p>
<p>I'd be lying if I said I don't want to be influential. I don't like it when the other student in my team project says "who cares what mark we get, we've already got jobs". The only solace that gives me is that the lazier most people are, the easier it will be for me. I'm just trying to figure out where my influence would lie. Do I try to join a large corporation like BHP or Rio Tinto, work my way up and dance around my bedroom naked because I'm "successful"? Or do I try to find something a little more meaningful? Maybe the former really is meaningful and just sounds empty because we can so easily detach from faceless corporations.</p>
<p>My point is this. I truly believe that we decide what kinds of people we want to be. Some people choose to influence the world in one way, some people choose to influence it in others, and most simply enjoy the ride. Don't get me wrong, enjoying the ride is perfectly honourable, it just scares the shit out of me.</p>

<p>Hollywood's star couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have received a donation of AED 7 million (US$ 1.9 million) to carry out water and sanitation projects in developing countries including Sri Lanka and Kenya. The money was donated by Dubai-based property giant <a href="http://www.nakheel.com">Nakheel</a> to  the international charity group <a href="http://www.freethechildren.com/whatwedo/international/waterandsanitation.php">Free the Children</a> (FTC).  The donation was part of the company's 2008 Ramadan charity programme, which focussed this year on water. In total the programme raised AED 10 million, including a donation to Bait al Khair for its work in the Northern Emirates.</p>
<p>"We're not just giving them money - we're giving them hope", Douglas said. "Water is the lifeblood of communities. If children won't have to take long walks to collect water, they can go to school."</p>
<p>Free the Children (FTC) was founded in 1995 by Craig Kielburger, a Canadian child rights activist, who was only 12-years-old then. Since then, the organisation has built over 500 schools worldwide. It claims to be "the largest network of children helping children through education" in the world.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pandangan tradisional tentang bisnis hanya mengenal <em>stakeholder</em> yaitu pemegang saham dan pemilik.<span> </span>Corporate Responsibility memperluas tanggung jawab perusahaan dengan ikut mempertimbangkan tanggung jawab perusahaan dengan ikut mempertimbangkan <em>stakeholder</em>, yaitu pihak-pihak yang memainkan pengaruh atas sebuah bisnis dan pihak-pihak yang terkena pengaruh atau dampak dari sebuah entitas bisnis.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:12pt;text-align:justify;line-height:150%;"><em>Stakeholder</em> mencerminkan keragaman kelompok kepentingan dalam masyarakat tempat perusahaan beroperasi dan setiap <em>stakeholder</em> berhak menuntut perusahaan beroperasi dengan cara-cara yang secara social dan lingkungan dapat dipertanggungjawabkan (accountable).<span> </span>Karena itu perusahaan akan menjelaskan bagaimana perusahaan akan mempengaruhi meraka dan mempertimbangkan kepentingan mereka dalam mengambil keputusan di tingkat perusahaan.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:12pt;text-align:justify;line-height:150%;"><em>Stakeholder</em> sebuah kegiatan bisnis mencakup pemegang saham, karyawan, dan buruh.<span> </span>Serikat buruh/pekerja, buyer, supplier, konsumen, masyarakat lokal, ornop/LSM dan pemerintah.<span> </span>Belakangan ini, lingkungan hidup juga dianggap sebagai salah satu <em>stakeholder</em> tersendiri dan kepentingannya diwakili oleh organisasi-organisasi lingkungan hidup.<span> </span>Untuk konteks Indonesia masyarakat lokal dapat berarti masyarakat yang berdiam di sekitar daerah perusahaan, dapat juga berarti masyarakat adapt sebagai sebuah lembaga kemasyarakatan.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Berbagai pendekatan dan metode yang dikembangkan dalam rangka membangun tanggungjawab social sector bisnis didasarkan pada prinsip suka rela.<span> </span>Tidak ada kewajiban bagi perusahaan untuk melakukan CSR.<span> </span>Perusahaan yang memilih untuk menjalakan CSR disambut baik tetapi perusahaan tidak akan dikenakan sanksi bila tidak melakukannya.<span> </span>Akibatnya, meski jumlah perusahaan yang melaksanakan CSR bertambah, masih sangat banyak yang mengabaikannya.<span> </span>Hal ini sering terjadi bila perusahaan hanya mengejar tujuan-tujuan jangka pendeknya.<span> </span>Prinsip-prinsip dan standar-standar dikembangkan dan dirumuskan tetapi anjuran tidak cukup kuat untuk mengarahkan perusahaan untuk melakukan CSR.<span> </span>Pendekatan sukarela ini dapat dianggap gagal.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6pt;text-align:justify;line-height:150%;">Karena itu, pelaksanaan CSR harus bersifat wajib (mandatory) berdasarkan aturan hukum yang mengikat.<span> </span>Beberapa alasan dapat dikemukan.<span> </span><em>Pertama</em>, pendekatan bersifat wajib akan memaksa semua perusahaan melaksanakan CSR, sehingga membuka suatu “level playing field” bagi semua.<span> </span><em>Kedua</em>, pendekatan voluntaristik yang terjadi selama ini mengakibatkan munculnya berbagai ragam metode dalam pelaksanaan CSR.<span> </span>Pendekatan mandatory akan mengarah pada tersedianya standard pelaksanaan dan pelaporan yang jelas, yang akan memudahkan perusahaan dalam melaksanakan CSR dengan lebih efisien.<span> </span><em>Ketiga</em>, kekuasaan sector bisnis swasta dalam era globalisasi telah berkembang begitu kuat, maka sudah selayaknya pelaksanaan CSR pun diatur dengan legislasi.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nachdem sich schon der letzte Eintrag mit dem Thema Nachhaltigkeit beschäftigt hat, gibt's heute zum Start der Woche noch einen Nachschlag:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.csreurope.org/">CSR Europe</a> veröffentlichte jüngst einen englischsprachigen Leitfaden für Sustainable Marketing, auf gut deutsch nachhaltiges Marketing. Dieser ansprechend gestaltete Guide stellt einen guten Einstieg in die Materie dar, indem diese zuerst erklärt wird und die Potentiale von nachhaltigem Marketing aufgezeigt werden. Im Toolkit, dem zweiten Teil des Leitfadens, werden dann praktische Anleitungen zur Implementierung gegeben. Mehr Infos und den Link zur kostenlosen Bestellung einer PDF-Version gibt es <a href="http://www.csreurope.org/pages/en/sustainablemarketing_guide.html">hier</a>.</p>
<p>Meines Erachtens eignet sich der 'CSR Europe's Guide to Sustainable Marketing' vor allem für jene Unternehmen, die einen ersten Einblick in die Materie bekommen  bzw. erste Implementierungen vornehmen wollen, ohne gleich viel Geld für eine professionelle CSR-Beratung ausgeben zu können. Der Leitfaden zu nachhaltigem Marketing ist jedoch längst nicht das einzige Dokument dieser Art: inzwischen können interessierte Unternehmen schon aus einem beachtlichen Portfolio kostenfreier Leitfäden rund um CSR und Nachhaltigkeit wählen. Die Kunst ist nur, all diese in den Weiten des Internets zu finden - ich werde in nächster Zeit dazu mal eine Link-Liste veröffentlichen.</p>
<p>Von solchen einfach aufbereiteten, kostenlos erhältlichen Leitfäden profitieren somit vor allem kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (<a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleine_und_mittlere_Unternehmen">KMU)</a>, der mit Abstand größten Teil der europäischen Volkswirtschaft (ca. <a href="http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/enterprise_policy/sme_definition/index_de.htm">99%</a> aller Unternehmen). Positiver Nebeneffekt dabei ist, dass sich jene Unternehmen, die sich auf eigene Faust durch praktischen Leitfäden arbeiten, sich eigeninitiativ mit dem CSR-Gedanken auseinandersetzen - was nachhaltig zu einem Bewusstseinswandel in der Unternehmerlandschaft führen sollte.</p>
<p>In diesem Sinne wünsche ich allen LeserInnen einen schönen Start in die neue Woche.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono yang berkemeja safari tangan panjang dan celana panjang hitam diapit dua mantan presiden Amerika Serikat Bill Clinton dan George Bush. Clinton sendiri hanya megenakan kaus kerah dan celana jeans sementara Bush senior tak kalah santai dengan kemeja lengan pendeknya.</p>
<p>Pemandangan langka saat ketiganya mengunjungi korban bencana gelombang tsunami di Aceh tersebut dicatat praktisi kehumasan, Cristovita Wiloto, sebagai kekalahan telak strategi kehumasan Indonesia. Ketiganya sama-sama menyampaikan keprihatinan namun pesan itu lebih mengena dengan busana Clinton dan Bush yang terkesan siap ikut bekerja membantu para pengungsi.</p>
<p>Sebaliknya Yudhoyono yang tampil kelewat formal di depan korban bencana justru dinilai Cristov gagal menciptakan kepercayaan publik. Kepercayaan publik atau diistilahkan Cristov sebagai public trust inilah yang diulasnya dalam buku Behind Indonesia’s Headlines. <!--more--></p>
<p>Buku yang memuat 50 artikel Cristov yang pernah dimuat di surat kabar Bisnis Indonesia pada 2003-2008 ini merupakan kelanjutan dari buku pertamanya “The Power of Public Relations”. Selain gambar sampul yang sama, format buku ini pun serupa, yakni kompilasi artikel yang tidak saling bertautan.</p>
<p>Lewat artikel-artikel itu ia memaparkan berbagai kegagalan pemerintah meningkatkan kepercayaan publik pada pemerintah dan memperbaiki citra Indonesia di luar negeri. Pendiri perusahaan konsultan humas Power PR ini mencontohkan kampanye keberhasilan pemerintahan Yudhoyono – Kalla menekan angka kemiskinan tak banyak dipercaya karena faktanya masyarakat semakin terpojok dengan kenaikan harga kebutuhan pokok.</p>
<p>Upaya perbaikan citra Indonesia di mata publik internasional dengan menjadi negara pendamai konflik bersenjata serta berbagai promo kebijakan investasi pun tak berhasil. Langkah yang menghabiskan banyak dana itu dengan cepat tergerus oleh ranking yang jeblok dalam indeks daya saing ekonomi dan indeks korupsi.</p>
<p>Cristov menilai kagagalan tersebut terjadi lantaran pemerintah masih memakai strategi kehumasan yang semata-mata berorientasi pada peningkatan reputasi dan mendongkrak citra. ”Strategi jaim atau menjaga image itu sudah kadaluarsa dan ketinggalan zaman,” kata Cristov.</p>
<p>Ketimbang sibuk memoles citra, Cristov berpandangan pemerintah seharusnya menciptakan dan memelihara public trust yang hanya bisa diperoleh lewat kinerja yang baik. Strategi kehumasan apapun tak akan pernah berhasil jika kinerja dari organisasi yang diwakili sebenarnya jeblok.</p>
<p>Strategi ketinggalan zaman itu juga masih dijalankan perusahaan swasta lewat program corporate social responsibility. Bagi Cristov program tersebut tak bisa memperbaiki reputasi jika sehari-harinya perusahaan tak membantu perbaikan kehidupan masyarakat lewat program usaha kemitraan dan memperlakukan buruh secara manusiawi.</p>
<p>Begitu pula media massa yang bagi Cristov akan sulit mendapat kepercayaan khalayak jika tak membantu masyarakat memahami sebuah masalah dengan mengulasnya sampai tuntas. “Media hanya menulis puncak gunung es dan tidak membahas isu sampai ke inti masalahnya,” ujarnya.</p>
<p>Media yang berusaha tampil keren dengan selalu menyajikan isu yang hangat justru menjadi sasaran empuk strategi pengalihan isu. Dengan mudahnya media terjebak isu perebutan Ambalat dengan Malaysia pada April 2005 yang sengaja dilancarkan untuk meredam berita rencana kenaikan harga bahan bakar minyak. Begitu pula ketika ‘tim humas’ mantan presiden Abdurrahman Wahid menguyur isu panas perselingkuhan sang presiden dengan cerita pembuatan pesawat kepresidenan secanggih Air Force One milik presiden Amerika Serikat.</p>
<p>Banyak contoh-contoh lain yang ditulis Cristov yang sayangnya tak selalu berisi pembahasan dari sudut pandangan kehumasan. Tulisan yang disajikan pun kelewat singkat sehingga pembahasan sebuah masalah pun jadi kurang mendalam.</p>
<p>Inilah yang menjadi kelemahan buku berformat kumpulan artikel seperti milik Cristov. Penulisnya seringkali hanya memindahkan tulisan yang pernah dimuat di suratkabar tanpa mengemas ulang untuk format buku yang tidak memiliki keterbatasan ruang seperti surat kabar.</p>
<p>Pembaca suratkabar tak punya banyak waktu untuk membaca tulisan yang kelewat panjang sementara penikmat buku justru sengaja meluangkan waktunya. Inilah yang seharusnya ditangkap oleh Cristov dengan lebih fokus membahas beberapa contoh kasus saja namun dengan penjelasan dan data yang lebih mendetil.</p>
<p>Buku ini akan lebih informatif jika Cristov membukanya dengan sebuah tulisan yang memaparkan benang merah persitiwa empat tahun terakhir yang diperhatikannya dari sudut pandang kehumasan. Ia bisa membukanya dengan tulisan soal strategi kehumasan dan public trust yang pada buku ini baru muncul di halaman 137.</p>
<p>Lantas ia bisa melanjutkan dengan contoh kasus kegagalan meraih public trust itu. Akan lebih baik jika ia juga meluangkan waktu mencari contoh kesuksesan strategi kehumasan yang sukses meraih kepercayaan publik.</p>
<p>Langkah-langkah ini akan lebih membangun kepercayaan pembaca terhadap pemikiran Cristov soal public trust ketimbang upaya mendongkrak citra positif buku ini dengan memuat 38 halaman pujian buku dari 70 orang yang dicatat oleh Museum Rekor Indonesia sebagai buku dengan komentar tokoh terbanyak.</p>

IBAT is a new database that offers integrated up-to-date information on globally important biodiversity areas and legally protected sites, as well as detailed maps and data on endangered species.  Most conservation groups keep data of this sort but IBAT offers the first, integrated source, which is targeted at business. It will allow corporations to include conversation data from the start of project planning.</p>
<p>There is good coverage of information available with users being able to find data about individual parks, reserves, indigenous and communal areas. Sites considered globally important (protected or unprotected) are also identified, as well as areas that might contain vulnerable species.</p>
<p>If the Russian company had used IBAT, it would have discovered that Lake Baikal is home to four species of birds that are threatened,  including the greater spotted eagle and the lesser white-fronted goose. It would also have found that the critically-endangered Siberian crane flies through the Lake Baikal area on its way to summer nesting grounds.</p>
<p>IBAT is a no brainer really. It will allow corporations to screen potential investment areas; develop considered action plans to address biodiversity impact; assess risks with investing in targeted areas; report on corporate social responsibility and bioversity performance.</p>
<p>Businesses need to register to use IBAT but from that point onwards, everything is anonymous and no records are kept. BHP recently used IBAT to check whether areas it was considering for exploration were ecologically sensitive, without alerting competitors to their interests in specific areas.</p>
<p>IBAT is the result of a conservation partnership between BirdLife International, Conservation International and the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre. How smart is this partnership!!  It will be officially launched at the <a href="http://www.iucn.org/news_events/events/congress/index.cfm">World Conservation Congress</a> in Barcelona, which is being held as I blog.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Vor einiger Zeit ist das neue<a href="http://www.interbrand.com/images/BGB_reports/BGB_2008_EURO_Format.pdf" target="_blank"> Best Global Brands Ranking</a> (2008) erschienen. Heute hatte ich endlich die Gelegenheit, mich näher damit auseinanderzusetzen. Natürlich hat mich dabei am meisten interessiert, welche Marken in diesem Jahr "top" und welche weniger "in" sind. Mit Google, Apple und Amazon verzeichnen zwar drei Marken aus der Internet- und Technologiebranche die höchsten Zuwächse in Sachen Markenwert; Nummer eins bleibt aber Coca Cola (gefolgt von IBM und Microsoft). Deutsche Unternehmen finden sich mit den Premiumautomobilherstellen Mercedes Benz (Platz 11) und BMW (Platz 13) ebenso recht weit vorn. Die Marke BMW konnte sogar ggü. <a href="http://www.interbrand.com/best_global_brands.aspx?year=2006&#38;langid=1000" target="_blank">2006</a> etwas zulegen, was u.a. dem Einsatz und der offensiven Vermarktung von EfficientDynamics zugeschrieben wird. Nichts desto trotz hätte ich gern mehr darüber erfahren, wie das Ranking en detail zustande gekommen ist. Leider findet man nur Aussagen zu den drei Verfahren, die dem Ranking zugrunde liegen: <em>financial analysis</em>, <em>role of brand analysis</em> und <em>brand strengh core</em>. Schade, aber man gibt als Interbrand eben ungern seine eigene Expertise preis.</p>
<p>Da ich mich oft mit dem Thema "Nachhaltigkeit" beschäftige, fand ich übrigens noch den vorgeschalteten Artikel "Sustainability and its impact on brand value" (Oliveira &#38; Sullivan, 2008) aufschlussreich. Es wird zum wiederholten Mal gezeigt, dass es bei Nachhaltigkeit im Unternehmenskontext auch (oder nur?) darum geht, Kaufverhalten positiv zu beeinflussen: "[...] companies must make investment decisions that will benefit the environment and society, and guarantee the sustainability of the project itself. We are not talking about charitable causes – but ethical products and services that will change consumers’ behavior and help them to live a more “sustainable” life." (ebd., S. 12) Kein Wunder also, dass nachhaltiges Engagement von Unternehmen immer mehr auch als "business case" (Hansen &#38; Schrader, 2005) verstanden wird: "Sustainability is not a fad – it’s a new way of doing business." (Oliveira &#38; Sullivan, 2008, S. 14) Dies sollte einem bei allem gut gemeinten Engagement der Unternehmen bewusst sein - insbesondere auch als Vertreter von Non-Profit-Einrichtungen, der natürlich weitaus öfter auf kommerzielle Unterstützung bzw. finanzielle Förderung von außen angewiesen ist. Jedes unternehmerische Engagement verfolgt seinen eigenen Zweck; die Win-Win-Situation ist manchmal nur zur Schau gestelltes Ziel der Kooperation.</p>
<p><em>PS: Das Ziel eines CSR-Artikels im Best Global Brands Ranking ist wohl auch klar... 1. Aufmerksamkeit für ein recht neues Kommunikationsthema und 2. das Angebot von Kommunikationslösungen. Aus dem Hause Interbrand - versteht sich.</em></p>

<p><strong><em>"Green Economy" als Job-Motor</em></strong><br />
Die <a href="http://www.ilo.org/global/lang--en/index.htm">"International Labour Organization"</a> veröffentlichte jüngst eine interessante Studie über die aufkommende "Green Economy", also jenen Branchen, die damit beschäftigt sind die negativen Umweltauswirkungen (der Wirtschaft) zu reduzieren: Darin wird gezeigt, dass allein durch Bemühungen, den Klimawandel zu bremsen bzw. zu reduzieren, ein starker Wirtschaftszweig entsteht, der wiederum Millionen neuer Jobs kreiert. Die Studie heißt "Green Jobs: Towards Decent work in a Sustainable, Low-Carbon World" und man findet die offzielle Information darüber <a href="http://www.ilo.org/global/About_the_ILO/Media_and_public_information/Press_releases/lang--en/WCMS_098481/index.htm">hier</a>... </p>
<p>...nichtsdestotrotz sollte man meiner Meinung nach  mit Lobeshymnen auf eine Öko-perfekte Zukunft ein wenig vorsichtig sein: denn nach wie vor gibt es das Problem, dass viele Jobs der "Green Economy" gefährliche Arbeitsbedingungen haben (vor allem in Entwicklungsländern) und dass Menschen der <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Poor">Working Poor Klasse</a> (immerhin 43 % der weltweiten Arbeiterschaft) der Zugang zu diesen Branchen erschwert ist. Also gibt es noch viele zu bewältigende Herausforderungen für die Green Economy in den nächsten Jahren und Jahrzehnten...</p>
<p><em><strong>Design Guide für Nachhaltige Produkte</strong></em><br />
Andreas Jaritz von <a href="http://www.fluid-forms.com/blog/">Fluid Forms </a>machte mich heute auf ein wirklich nutzbringendes Service von <a href="http://www.ecolect.net/">"ecolect"</a>, einer Plattform für nachhaltiges Design, aufmerksam: Unter dem Titel "The Designer's Field Guide to Sustainability" promoteten sie im Ende August dieses Jahres einen Leitfaden, der Produkt-Designern eine überschaubare Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung für die Kreation nachhaltiger Produkte gibt. Überschaubar deswegen, weil das ganze in lediglich 15 Schritten abläuft, die alle relevanten Informationen erhalten. Der oder die interessierte DesignerIn braucht lediglich sieben Seiten lesen, um das eigene Bewusstsein in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit zu schärfen. <p>P.S.: Lustiger Gossip am Rande: Auf der Homepage des "Forum Nachhaltig Wirtschaften" bin ich jüngst auf eine interessante Befragung aus dem Vorjahr gestoßen: Das Magazin befragte Menschen aus Wirtschaft, Politik, NGO's und Gesellschaft, warum Unternehmen ihrer Meinung nach gesellschaftliche Verantwortung übernehmen sollen - den Bericht gibt es <a href="http://www.nachhaltigwirtschaften.net/scripts/basics/eco-world/wirtschaft/basics.prg?a_no=1097">hier</a>. Dabei wurde auch der deutsche Musiker <a href="http://www.maffay.de/">Peter Maffay</a> zum Thema CSR befragt - bislang war Herr Maffay für mich wirklich nur eine<a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vokuhila"> Vokuhila</a>-Ikone, ein "Styler"  höchsten Grades... Er wäre wirklich der letzte gewesen, den ich mit unternehmerischer Verantwortung in Verbindung gebracht hätte. Also, liebe Österreicher: wann machen wir Nik P. oder gar DJ Ötzi zu CSR-Botschaftern? </p>

<p>A normatização é um processo característico de grandes empresas porque envolve grande investimento financeiro, organizacional e humano. Para as pequenas, a normatização ocorre geralmente por pressão da concorrência e de grandes empresas compradoras ou contratantes de serviços.</p>
<p>As várias normas existentes não se resumem, porém, à padronização de procedimentos. Elas propiciam à empresa uma ampla reflexão a respeito das ferramentas de gestão a serem utilizadas para garantir o planejamento da evolução sustentável. Elas implicam, sobretudo, a mobilização interna necessária para realizar um diagnóstico detalhado e fiável do comprometimento da organização. Nesse sentido, as normas são também parte da estratégia das organizações. Podemos distinguir dois tipos de normas de acordo com os objetivos de seus promotores.</p>
<p>Há aquelas que são publicadas por mecanismos oficiais de normatização, entre<br />
as quais destacamos:</p>
<p><span style="color:#968d00;">• ISO 14000 (meio ambiente)<br />
• ISO 9000 (qualidade)<br />
• CE EMAS (ambiental)<br />
• BS 8800 (condições dignas de trabalho)<br />
• BS 8855 (ambiental)</span></p>
<p>O mercado incentivou a criação de instituições que normatizassem certos elevados<br />
padrões de gestão em áreas como segurança e condição do trabalho, entre outros. Neste domínio, as normas de maior destaque são:</p>
<p><span style="color:#968d00;">• SA 8000 (direitos sociais)<br />
• OHSAS 18001 (riscos/acidentes)<br />
• AA 1000 (prestações de contas)</span></p>
<p>Especificamente na área de RSE, o Brasil já possui sua norma<br />
de responsabilidade social, que tem caráter de sistema de gestão e propósito<br />
de certificação.</p>
<p><span style="color:#968d00;">• ABNT NBR 16001</span></p>
<p>Também possuem normas de responsabilidade social os seguintes países:</p>
<p><span style="color:#968d00;">• Inglaterra (BS 8900)<br />
• Austrália (AS 8003)<br />
• França (SD 21000)<br />
• Israel (SI 10000)<br />
• Japão (EC S2000)<br />
• Itália (Q-Res)<br />
• Alemanha (VMS)</span></p>
<p>Com base na demanda mundial sobre o tema da responsabilidade social, está<br />
em andamento e previsto para 2009 a criação de uma terceira geração de normas<br />
— a de Responsabilidade Social — apresentando diretrizes sem propósito<br />
de certificação.</p>
<p><span style="color:#968d00;">• ISO 26000</span></p>
<p>Mas é na área ambiental que encontramos o maior número de normas e também<br />
as mais avançadas, com instrumentos aceitos e estabelecidos. Elas são úteis<br />
para a divulgação da RSE e também porque oferecem modelos já consagrados<br />
que podem servir de inspiração para o aprimoramento das normas sociais.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Green Jobs Report]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The United Nations, International Labour Organization, and Cornell University's ILR school have collaborated on <a href="http://www.unep.org/labour_environment/features/greenjobs-report.asp">"Green Jobs:  Toward Sustainable Work in a Low-Carbon World"</a>, which was released today.  It's billed as "the first comprehensive study of the 'green economy' and its impact on the work world" and features some interesting findings, as well as taking the argument beyond going "green" for the environment's sake and using this as a platform to address economic inequalities.  From Cornell's press release:</p>
<blockquote><p>Optimistic findings in the report include:</p>
<ul>
<li>green jobs could grow by the millions by 2040</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>billions are being spent this decade to retrofit buildings, creating jobs</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>"clean tech" investment shot up 60 percent from 2006 to 2007, to $148 billion</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>renewable energy jobs – now at 2.3 million -- are expanding rapidly</li>
</ul>
<p>Formidable challenges to advancing the green economy are also cited:</p>
<ul>
<li>only a tiny portion of work worldwide can be described as green</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>many "green jobs" may be "dirty, dangerous and difficult"</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>energy research spending is down for government and the private sector</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>green employment does not have a foothold in most developing countries, home to 80 percent of the world's workers.</li>
</ul>
</blockquote>
<p>The report goes on to state:</p>
<blockquote><p>There is nothing intrinsically fair or just about either the process of becoming green or the end result . . . . The issue is not simply about the transition itself, but what follows the transition – the goal being a new mode of production and consumption that allows for greater social inclusion, equity, and opportunity.</p></blockquote>

<title><![CDATA[Paying to protect whom??]]></title>

<p class="MsoNormal">In 1997 Chiquita banana began paying ”protection money” to a group know as the United Self-defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) rather than pull out of the rejoin, an area the buisness had been working in going back several generations. Had they not paid employees villages would have been massacred as well as stockholder value would have dropped. In September of 2000 an internal audit showed the practice of payoffs to the board. On September 10, 2001 the AUC was declared a terrorist organization by the Untied States, making it illegal for the corporation to continue the practice.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">On April 24 of 2003 Chiquita approached the U.S. Justice Department and voluntarily self-disclosed the practice. Michael Chertoff, then assistant attorney general (currently Secretary to Homeland Security) told the corporation what they were doing was illegal and said they would receive instructions on what to do. AUC remains an opposition group to FARC, another terrorist organization, and it was clear if Chiquita were to divest from the rejoin then U.S. security interest would be jeopardized. AUC was not networked to international terrorist groups such as FARC is.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">No reply was received from the government despite repeated inquiries from Chiquita. During this time a new government in Colombia, which backed Bush’s anti-terrorism protocol, was established. It was clear to the U.S. government that speaking against this issue would up set the political foot hold the U.S. was losing in South America.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>            </span>By the summer of 2007 the U.S. government responded.<span>  </span>Chiquita had paid $1.7 million to the AUC up until that point. The government placed a $25 million dollar fine on the buisness due to the decade of funding terrorism despite Chiquita’s approaching them 5 years earlier and the reclassification of the AUC in 2001.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Should the date of the AUC’s terrorist classification effect how they were delt with?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Other than stockholders were there other stakeholders Chiquita was obligated to take into consideration?</p>

Majoriteten av företagen är dessutom osynliga när det kommer till ansvarsfrågor. Det konstaterar Magnus Fredriksson i sin doktorsavhandling ”<a href="http://www.samfak.gu.se/digitalAssets/1161/1161365_Frediksson_abstract.pdf" target="_blank">Företags ansvar/ Marknadens retorik – En analys av företagens strategiska kommunikationsarbete</a>” som han försvarar den 10 oktober vid JMG i Göteborg.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">Fredriksson har gått igenom samtliga årsredovisningar för de 260 bolag som var noterade på Stockholmsbörsen under hela räkenskapsåret 2004.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">I sin avhandling avstår Fredriksson från att använda begreppet Corporate social responsibility, CSR. Han skriver bland annat: </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">”Ofta görs explicita eller implicita antaganden om att CSR är detsamma som etik. Dessutom menar jag att begreppet är retoriskt, och i så mening ideologiskt, utifrån att det speglar hur särskilda intressen vill att vi ska uppfatta företags uppgifter i samhället.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">Han är därmed inne på liknande linje som <a href="http://sagamo.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/ekonomiforskare-risk-att-csr-urvattnas/" target="_blank">Annette Cerne </a>som nyligen disputerade med sin avhandling ” Working with and Working on Corporate Social Responsibility - The flexibility of a Management Concept” vid Ekonomihögskolan i Lund.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">Fredriksson menar att omvärldsfaktorer i mångt och mycket styr hur företag väljer att kommunicera och att det är den ekonomiska aspekten som dominerar:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">”När företaget bevakas är det uteslutande utifrån deras förmåga att leva upp till marknadens förväntningar.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">De är framför allt större bolag som använder sig av ”vidgad ansvarsretorik”. Företag som inte bedriver en verksamhet som är problematisk i förhållande till avgörande politiska beslut syns sällan i massmediernas rapportering, slår Magnus Fredriksson fast.</span></p>
