'Regreso al Futuro': Recordando traileres de antaño

Corría 1985 cuando llegaba a nuestras pantallas 'Regreso al Futuro', de Robert Zemeckis. Más tarde se convertiría en trilogía debido al éxito que obtuvo (probablemente, claro). Michael J. Fox (24 añitos por entonces) encarnaba a un adolescente que viajaba al pasado por equivocación, mientras que Christopher Lloyd le daba la réplica como el Doctor Brown.

La historia es sencilla en un principio. Marty McFly amigo de Doc Brown (Doc de Doctor aunque nunca sabremos de qué) acaba en el coche que Doc ha construido para viajar al futuro, pero en lugar de ir hacia delante, irá al pasado, donde conocerá a sus padres cuando eran jóvenes. Para colmo, no solo descubrirá como se conocieron sus padres en realidad, sino que intervendrá de forma directa en ese encontronazo, destrozando lo que debería ser su pasado futuro ¿Habiamos dicho que era sencillo?

Lios a montones, algún que otro gag plagiado en plan broma a películas del momento (lo de Darth Vader es buenísimo), una buena banda sonora y un atrevido argumento (jugar con el futuro o pasado puede ser peligroso, o eso nos demuestra esta película).

Película que no decae en ningún momento, que nos mantiene atrapados en la historia del protagonista, que nos hace trasladarnos a 1955 a través de un Delorean de lo más imaginativo. Todo en uno. ¿Por qué ya no se hacen películas así?

Desde siempre, será una de mis pelis favoritas, y de las que más veces he visto y que nunca me canso de ver, y ¿vosotros?

Custom made DeLorean... looks like a replica to me

I pulled this off geekologie apparently, it's a custom made DeLorean, if you ask me, it's an exact replica. It looks totally authentic, like literally the same prop from the flick. They got the flux capacitor to a "T". I wonder if this is for sale. I guess the 80's fandom is still alive and kicking, I would spend my life's savings on this baby, well, this and the Ecto 1 of course.

I am now officially - 40 and fabulous. Monday, my co-workers did a little "thing" for me at work which was really nice, and sweet. I really appreciated it. I didn't realize, however, that the little celebration in the back for me was not the piece de resistance, so to speak. One of my friends' husbands plays in an "80s band" with a guy who recently bought a DeLorean. Apparently I mentioned that the first movie I ever saw on a date was "Back to the Future", so my friend made arrangements for me to ride in this dude's DeLorean with him for my birthday:

That is the least embarassing photo I could find. I did have a nice birthday, though. It was nice to be remembered by so many people so nicely. :)

Como se não bastasse a réplica do Tumbler, outra máquina também foi ''criada'' a partir de um simples carro, sem nenhum atrativo. O Delorean, da fabricante DMC, ficou extremamente conhecido após sucesso do filme De Volta para o Futuro, e fãs não faltaram para homenageá-lo, desde criar produtos até suas famosas réplicas relacionadas a ele.

De acordo com o site Herói, um americano criou, a partir do seu próprio Delorean, uma autêntica cópia da máquina do tempo, com direito a painéis e acessórios, todos inspirados no filme que faz até pensar que realmente o carro foi usado no longa. Até um capacitador de fluxo (o que no filme se permitia vaiajar no tempo) é idêntico à da famosa história do ''carro-máquina do tempo''.

Microsoft’s 5-Year Plan to Catch Google? A DeLorean & 1.21 Gigawatts!

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer still believes that catching Google in search, is a "five-year task." Considering he made that statement back in May of 2006–and again this week–it’s clear that Ballmer is not committing to which five years he’s talking about. We’re guessing Microsoft has tasked a white-haired scientist to harness the power of 1.21 gigawatts!

"It’s a five-year task," he said, with a smile. "It’s a long-term task."

To succeed, he said, the company will have to find a way to fundamentally change the experience and the economics of search. "You have to redefine the category," Ballmer said. "We’ve taken some steps in that direction."

Can we believe Ballmer’s prediction? Well, during the same speech, he also predicted that Apple’s iPhone wouldn’t be "battling for the big part" of the smartphone business.

I’ll have what Steve’s having!

I think it looks suspiciously like a flux capacitor. You could stand it on end and throw the garbage right into the funnel. Where's John DeLorean now that I need him?

Stainless Style has been out for a while, but I finally got my hands on a copy about a month ago. It's a pretty good album, don't care for most of the rap tracks (like 3 of them), but the other songs are solid mid 80s pop tunes if a foreign Peter Gabriel fronted the band.... well sorta.

A DeLorean - this time parked in between Paris Galleries at the dead-end Street Saint Claude.

It is only there for one night.

French Premiere:

Raphaël Julliard purchased his 5-speed manual gallery by auction begining of this year. Instead of four white walls the art work is inside the body of 1981 stainless steel.

What inspires you?

Bridging things together that seem difficult to bridge, or forbidden to bridge for various/curious/vicious reasons.

How did you decide on the delorean and since when are you riding the streets?

I didn’t decide to buy a delorean. i wanted a car for paris. i looked on ebay, car section. they have a pull-down menu where any imaginable car brand is listed. the last item of the long long menu is « other brands ». since i wanted something special, i choose that one.
the fifth result was the delorean. after seeing it listed, any other car was not good enough. i had to buy it :). in was at the end of february ’08.

How does it feel to be a delorean driver?

You’re like a boat driver. you barely see the road, since the windshield is small. it’s also almost as if you had an motor engine attached on your back.
but what i like the most is, for instance, at gas stations, when people realize it’s a delorean they almost all smile. that car is a happiness generator.

First seeing the car, you don't know, if it is an art object itself or not. looking at it a second time, you get challenged to explore other ways of experiencing the art work you are exhibiting. Are you trying to sensitize the esthesia of the viewer by not giving him the white walls?

Yes. during the performance it’s the most challenging and fun aspect: trying to give the art objects the same value than in a traditional gallery.
lack of vertical walls, lack of zenithal light (if you except the sun itself), lack of space inside which you enter. all those are so conventional that most people don’t see them anymore, because they seem neutral and logic to exhibit art.

In geneva you have a vw golf.

Do you change your curatorial concept depending on the model of the car?

The difference between paris and geneva is that the delorean has so much presence by itself that artists have to be able to « compete » with it. last september it was the first exhibition so it is also a little too early to speek of change of curatorial concept. we’ll see.

What made you choose the 3 ladies?

pretty girls are always a nice when it comes to sell something. jokes apart, i worked with Elena Montesinos and Mélodie Mousset in geneva with the golf. their work seemed to be able to be seeable on a car like the delorean. so i invited them. Marie Velardi has often worked with the utopia/present/past/sci-fi themes. so it was quite natural to invite her.

When you plan on parking in paris next time?

You have any co-driver and/or special passengers?

My assistant Marianne Guarino-Huet. at vernissages she helps me (or more accurately i help her) to make contacts. we are more proactive than conventional galleries. we have to. if we were just to stay nearby the car, nobody would stop. she’s really good. so good that her work as an artist is based on mediation.
in paris Anaïd Demir helped me by introducing me at other gallerists (fellow neighbours, now:), and giving directions when driving from the park site to impasse saint-claude.

Your most played/listened to song at the moment?

Looking at my itunes library i find: « this »/brian eno /another day on earth. but i have a special mention for « Event Horizon »/Arpanet/Inertial Frame

You see yourself as?

Not easily impressionable/curious of complexitiy/lazy!

What suite were you wearing?

I’m wearing clothes that are closer to an official / salesman standard. tie, shirt, jacket, belt, no-sneaker shoes.
the car has difficulties to stand as a respectable gallery. so what it doesn’t do, i do.
but since a year now i wear a beard and long hairs. so maybe the whole respectability effect is doomed.

Después del rotundo éxito del año pasado (congregando a 85.000 personas), su cuarta edición y con el slogan ‘aire limpio para todos’ tendrá lugar este sábado, 20 de septiembre, el Festival PuraVida en el barrio Malasaña de Madrid.

A partir de las cuatro de la tarde en la calle Fuencarral y las plazas Vázquez de Mella y Soledad Torres Acosta, se ubicarán tres escenarios de donde saldrá la potencia de los amplificadores del indie para ensordecer al público asistente.

... I'd be as cool as this director fuck Brett Simon. And that is pretty, pretty, pretty cool. I like the fact that it screams BTTF without being all about it. It is like, BTTF is cool and I'm aware of it, but I don't need to do it full on, I got my own digs to think about.

Anyway, this was fired this way by Pedestrian.tv while they motor-mouthed Selby. Something that is full on jaw action worthy.

Duo de Dois "A festa" 18/9

Primeira edição da festa inspirada na coluna que eu publico na seção “Ouça” do site Chic. A idéia é trazer duplas de dj’s, sempre pessoas envolvidas com moda e arte. Nesta estréia, recebeo três duplas muito especiais. A dupla que abrirá a noite é formada pela artista plástica Luciana Araújo, na linha de frente da Rockchick Design e Tatiana Ribeiro, estilista da marca revelação Delorean.

Em seguida, fazendo sua segunda apresentação The Mirtes, projeto formado por Flávia Lhacer, garota também formada em artes e dona da simpática livraria Rainbow Room, e pela fiel escudeira, a cineasta Juliana Curi.Para fechar com chave de ouro, uma dupla de jornalistas especializados em moda: Sérgio Amaral e Juliana Andrade do site Érika Palomino, também residentes da fervida festa “Bafon Bafú” prometem fazer um set especial para o público da Funhouse.

Durante a festa, serão sorteadas peças das marcas Apego e Mário Mantovanni.
