If you are any kind of good geek you already know all about Joss Whedon's new series, Dollhouse.  The show is scheduled to air on Fox as part of their midseason lineup in January 2009.  It stars Whedonverse veteran Eliza Dushku as an agent in a secret black ops organization.   The agents are called "Dolls", after they do their missions they get their minds wiped and get a whole new identity implanted.  Dushku's character, Echo, starts to retain her memories.  Tah-Da!

Wicked stoked about this.  I actually kind of forgot about it, and then found the official website.  Which means Fox hasn't axed it yet!  Yay!

It is never too soon to start a campaign to keep this show alive though.

After the cut watch the clip of Eliza from the Jimmy Kimmel show that got PETA super pissed off.

My grandpa was a handy guy, a plumber by trade but also a skilled woodworker. When I was a baby, he gave me a little blue chest for my room. My dollhouse used to sit on top of it. Grandpa made two pieces of furniture for my dollhouse: a beautiful round kitchen table with turned legs, and a replica of the blue chest. Neither is a fancy piece of furniture, but they are my favourites. My grandpa died last year and I have thought of these pieces frequently and wanted to keep them close at hand, but knew they were packed up somewhere in my parents house.

I unearthed these pieces of dollhouse furniture over the weekend and found that the chest was still filled with glass and china dishes. The chest had suffered some wear & tear over the years, with the pin on one hinge coming undone and the nail on another lost. Thanks to some crazy glue and two straight pins, I successfully macgyvered the hinges back into working order.

Now, on to find the rest of it and my tin of 1000 marbles!

90210: Annie is still annoyingly cheerful and happy and I'm trying to figure out if people have not learned anything from the shows of the last years, such as The O.C. or One Tree Hill. 90210 feels very wooden and fake, everything seems to perfect. Where are the real dramas? Where are the strong characters that stand out?

At Home with the Braithwaites: I remember watching this show first eight years ago when the first season was on TV. It's all about the family Braithwaite and how Allison wins 38 million pounds in the lottery. Season 1 involves her starting her own charity and trying to conceal it from her family; Season 2 shows the entire family struggling with the new found wealth and Allison falling in love with her husbands brother; Season 3 has the lottery company claiming the money back after it was revealed that the ticket was illegally bought by the underage daughter and Season 4, well, let's not mention Season 4.. Of course this series would be nothing without it's characters. Most of them are unlikeable, but there's chemistry between them all and even more so, they're believable.

Desperate Housewives: The show's got a very different atmosphere and at the moment I am not too sure I will continue watching it. I dislike all the characters and there seems to be far too much going on with new characters and explanations of the past to concentrate on what made this series great - the friendships between the main characters.

Dexter: Many people have recommended Dexter to me and how it's the next best thing to sliced bread and after reading it's got Angel's Darla in a major role I knew I had to watch it. I didn't like the first episode. I really disliked the second episode and tried my best to watch beyond episode four, but I don't like it. I don't like the characters, the story, the camera work, nothing. Now many people would just move on and say the show is rubbish, who cares, but it is very unusual for me to not like something recommended to me by so many people with similar tastes. If you happen to come across this and like Dexter, please tell me why you like it.

Respectable: It's another UK show of which only one season was made. It's all about a brothel with some strange working girls. All the characters are great in their own way from Hayley to Maureen, Yelena and Michael and it's a shame this didn't carry on.

Sanctuary: It seems very much like Torchwood and whilst I like Torchwood I am not too sure this works. Robin Dunne is annoying and doesn't have half as much charisma as he needs and I liked Amanda Tapping much more in the few bits of Stargate I watched over the years. But, it appears that this is a show with a few previous Stargate characters which makes it good for the fans. I suppose it's the same reason I liked some episodes of Heroes as it had Kristen Bell and David Anders. However, there is something intriguing about the show, the characters or rather the creatures seem interesting and I want to know how everything happened and what it all means.

True Blood: I'm not too convinced I like the latest episode of True Blood. Just like many before it's dragged along far too much, however the last scene more than made up for it. Wow, I did not see this coming. And it makes me wonder who the serial killer is, especially after Bill said a vampire would never leave the blood behind. And what does the bar owner have to hide?

All in all it kind of feels like TV has become so serious lately, all the new Sci-Fi shows are so grown up and gritty. What happened to shows like Buffy? So many shows are related to terrorism or messed up characters or they just look extremely dull all in grey and brown tones preferably with a lot of rain. I wish there was more humour or snark on TV these days.

Initial impressions

- A little on the cheeseball side BUT it reminds me a bit of those early 80's shows I loved so much (Remington Steele, etc.) and I think Nathan could be gangbusters in a serious/cheesy role like Rick Castle. BUT if that's the vein the show is in, I need to see more of the female lead to see if she can hold her own or if she'll just be kind of boring
- Like the interplay with the daughter...less cliche and stronger scene-vibes over all then some of the cop parts
- Had several very funny moments which bodes well (love the lines about "this is better then shark week" and Nathan's "that was so cool!")
- Since all the scenes are more then likely from the pilot, which isn't always the best anyway, I have hope that it has enough potential to get even better

Also on the mid-season list of things to look forward to...Dollhouse, the latest creation from the genius mind of Joss Whedon. Now you may have heard that production got shut down briefly so Whedon could re-group and re-write...which got a lot of people worried. I am not one of those people. The man knows what he's doing and if he's not happy with something, odds are he's right to re-do it...nothing is half-assed with this guy and speaking as a fan of everything else he's done, I think we'll love it even more if he gets a chance to put his best foot forward with this new world he's creating. Dushku será la agente secreta Echo, que liderará un grupo de agentes capaces de 'descargarse' habilidades específicas para cada misión, para después ser borrado todo de sus memorias. El personaje de Dushku descubre (aún no se sabe cómo) que ha estado siendo utilizada todo el tiempo. Estos son los únicos detalles sobre el argumento que se han filtrado hasta la fecha.

Es emocionante que el monstruo vuelva a la tele después de que le cancelaran 'Angel'. Pero lo más impactante es que vuelve a Fox, la cadena que, no solo dejó a dos velas a los fans del vampiro con alma (número 1), sino que además canceló su obra maestra 'Firefly' después de poner solo 11 episodios (y para más inri, desordenados). Pero Joss vuelve a Fox, según sus palabras, porque hay caras nuevas, personas más inteligentes y comprensivas (cómo las tira) y tiene fe en que las cosas se hagan bien esta vez... Claro que no solo dependerá de la cadena, sino de la serie en sí, de que siga en la estela de sus tres anteriores creaciones (en cuanto a calidad, me refiero), y de que la gente la vea.

De momento han encargado siete episodios, y si todo va bien, una temporada de 13 o 22 (que seguro que serán 13, si 'Dollhouse' se estrena en la mid-season estadounidense, como está inicialmente previsto).

Whedon dice sobre 'Dollhouse': "Va sobre nuestros impulsos más oscuros, y también sobre los mejores. Trata sobre todo lo que me gusta escribir: Fuerza, debilidad, poder y corrupción". "Si los fans de Buffy vieran lo que tengo en la cabeza ahora mismo, estarían emocionados".

El argumento no llama excesivamente la atención, pero las palabras de Whedon invitan, como él mismo dice, a emocionarse. Esperaremos impacientes.

before delving into that, i have to say - i made the mistake of doing this when i was 12. in grade 7, i was notorious for wearing panty-hose with short shorts. big no no. and i've seen plenty of girls doing this in Montreal in recent weeks. all i gotta say is nooo nooo.

But I have to say - my absolute dislike of zippers has turned against me. I find myself drawn to what I don't like. I'm now looking at them through a different lens. So you'll see some Marc Jacobs and Diesel zippers in my collection of coveted fall '08 items. Some of them are reminiscent of Dynasty. Some are reminiscent of the later 80s. Either way, it's mostly 80s.

an interesting conversation occurred with my wife last night when she informed that a good family friend of ours had offered to give our 2-year old daughter a large box of hand-me-down toys that her daughter had outgrown. included in the collection is a large-wooden dollhouse. my wife was interested to see how i would respond based on our decision to become minimalist.

as i began to think through what it would mean to bring in a large number of toys, i had a number of questions for my wife.

1. are the toys something that our daughter will enjoy playing? easy answer - yes. she absolutely loves dolls! that's her thing - playing with dolls. i can picture the joy on her face already of having a dollhouse to put them in. shame on me if my quest to become minimalist would rob her of that joy.
2. are the toys something that the other family wants to use to bless our family or just get out of their own house? we all know the family that graciously offers to give you their old treadmill or foosball table - not for the sake of blessing, but for the sake of removing the clutter from their own house. my wife assured me that they were genuinely hoping to bless our family - even to the point that the daughter ran up to her excitedly to tell about the toys that she had picked out for us.
3. do we have toys that we can remove from our daughter's current collection to make room for the new ones? absolutely! there are many toys in the toy room that my little girl has outgrown or no longer has an interest in. we will sort out some of those toys and remove them to make room for the new ones.

i can't wait to see the joy on my daughter's face when the new dollhouse appears in our toyroom! and i am very grateful for the wonderful family whose generosity will bring her that joy. thank you.

• The Amazing Race. Always entertaining, often exhilerating, it's head and shoulders better than any other reality TV show.
• Bones. The funniest crime drama on television! (Joss Whedon alumni show # 1)
• Chuck. This one really picked up steam near the end of its strike-shortened freshman season. Season two already has a full 22-episode order, and I'm expecting good things. (Joss Whedon alumni show # 2)
• Dirty Sexy Money. Frivolous rainy day DVR stuff. Love it.
• Eli Stone. One of the quirkiest, character-driven legal dramas I've ever seen. An absolute joy.
• How I Met Your Mother. The season opener was a little weaker than past episodes, but I still have faith. (Joss Whedon alumni show # 3)
• The Office. The most perfect, painfully hilarious show on television.
• Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. Just keeps getting better. (Joss Whedon alumni show # 4)

New shows I'll give a shot:

• Worst Week. Reviews are good. We'll see.
• Fringe. Three episodes in, I like it, though it's the least awesome J.J. Abrams show so far. 
• Crusoe. This show gets exactly one episode to convince me it won't be terrible.

Mid-season debut/returns:

• Dollhouse. Joss Whedon alumni show # 5!
• Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Jeff Goldblum on a police procedural. Could be interesting.
• LOST. Will probably DVR the whole season and watch all at once.

De momento han encargado siete episodios, y si todo va bien, una temporada de 13 o 22 (que seguro que serán 13, si 'Dollhouse' se estrena en la mid-season estadounidense, como está inicialmente previsto).

Whedon dice sobre 'Dollhouse': "Va sobre nuestros impulsos más oscuros, y también sobre los mejores. Trata sobre todo lo que me gusta escribir: Fuerza, debilidad, poder y corrupción". "Si los fans de Buffy vieran lo que tengo en la cabeza ahora mismo, estarían emocionados".

El argumento no llama excesivamente la atención, pero las palabras de Whedon invitan, como él mismo dice, a emocionarse. Esperaremos impacientes.

É esperada uma audiência histórica para a series finale, considerando que o penúltimo episódio, exibido semana passada, foi o episódio mais assistido dos anos 2010 alcançando uma audiência recorde de dois milhões de espectadores.

Coincidentemente, no dia seguinte, na terça feira, mesmo horário, mesmo bat-canal (lembram dessa?) é a vez de "Law & Order" dar luz para seu sétimo spin-off: "Law & Order: Terrorism Alert", drama estrelado por Penn Badgley e sucessora de "Law & Order", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "Law & Order: Trial By Jury", "Law & Order: Victim/Witness Program" e a famigerada "Law & Order: The Pedophile's Files". Badgley ficou famoso nos anos 2000 por dar vida ao personagem Dan Humphrey na série "Gossip Girl". Porém, após o término da quarta temporada do programa teen, ainda em 2010, o ator abandonou a série para dedicar sua carreira ao cinema, e cá entre nós, já sabemos como tudo isso termina ("Velozes e Furiosos 9", "Alien & Predador Vs. Enquanto isto, a quarta-feira promete ser épica para a FOX: Kieran Culkin e Emma Watson estrelam o remake mais aguardado da história da TV: "X Files: The New Files". Criada por Joss Whedon em parceria com Chris Carter, a série promete ser uma mistura de refilmagem e prelúdio de "Arquivo X". O episódio piloto vazado na Internet semana passada, agradou aos críticos, que em sua maioria, disseram ser uma obra fiel a sua progenitora. O mesmo não pode ser dito em relações aos fãs, que olham desconfiados para a parceria Whedon-Carter, visto que nos anos 1990, estas séries possuíam um público distinto.

Apesar da euforia da crítica, todo cuidado é pouco se olharmos para trás e lembrarmos de "Dawn, The Vampire Slayer", remake de "Buffy" criado por Whedon após o fracasso de "Dollhouse", série da longínqua 2009, estrelada por Elisha Dushku. Vale ressaltar que os protagonistas do novo "Arquivo X" possuem um ponto em comum: ambos alcançaram à fama na infância/adolescência e ambos gastaram rios de dinheiros com drogas, sendo internados na mesma famigerada clínica de reabilitação onde, em 2010, Amy Winehouse cometeu suicido cortando os pulsos (sério, será que algum dia nós saberemos da onde veio aquela faca?).

A quinta-feira deve passar batida, pois além do retorno de "A. J. Soprano" e sua quarta temporada no AMC, temos apenas o retorno de "Two And a Half Women" na CBS, série estrelada por Claire Danes, Mischa Barton e Suri Cruise.

A sexta-feira dá as caras e a semana vai chegando ao fim comprovando a tendência iniciada no final dos anos 2000: remakes. Desta vez, o chamado "J. J. Abrams HUGE comeback", ou, o remake de "Twin Peaks", criado por Abrams, criador de "Felicity", "Alias", "Lost", "Fringe" e "Wicked", o HUGE fracasso de sua carreira. Após o cancelamento de "Wicked", Abrams entrou em uma grande depressão, foi diagnosticado esquizofrênico e se exilou em uma ilha no Havaí, jurando se chamar Jack Shepard. Agora, recuperado, volta ao trabalho no remake da série clássica criada por David Lynch e Marc Frost. A produção, claro, é do AMC.

Na semana que vem falaremos dos números que estas séries atingiram, pois certamente será uma semana de quebra de recordes nos anos 2010. A semana que vem também marca o aniversário fatídico de cinco anos daquela coletiva da HBO sobre a retirada do canal do mercado de seriados para focar exclusivamente na produção de filmes made-for-tv.

La produzione di Dollhouse, infatti, l’ultimo (capo)lavoro di Joss Whedon si prenderà una pausa di qualche settimana (la produzione sarà riaperta a fine mese), in modo da permettere agli autori di rimettere mano agli scripts.

Secondo l’Hollywood Reporter le riprese del dramma fantascientifico Dollhouse si sono fermate all’inizio del mese, proprio dopo la conclusione del terzo episodio. Whedon, creatore e produttore esecutivo della serie, si era dichiarato poco soddisfatto della qualità delle sceneggiature degli episodi successivi e quindi aveva chiesto alla 20th Fox uno hiatus temporaneo.

“Joss ci ha chiesto più tempo, e poichè lo show andrà in onda solo a Gennaio, la rete ha potuto garantirgli una proroga” ha detto un portavoce della FOX, che ha continuato dicendo che il network è molto eccitato per la serie, che andrà in onda a partire da Gennaio 2009 ogni Lunedì alle 8pm, prima di 24.

Protagonista della serie è Eliza Dushku, che ha già lavorato con Whedon in Buffy L’ammazzavampiri e Angel, che interpreta una giovane donna che diventa cosciente di far parte di un gruppo conosciuto come “Actives” o “Dolls”, soggetti le cui personalità sono state rimosse in modo da poter essere usati per lavori particolari, come un lavoro speciale, un crimine, una fantasia o una missione top secret, imprimendo in loro ogni volta nuove personalità, nuovi gusti, nuovi ricordi.

That is the name of my band. We thought about going with The Sun Never Shone On TV, but we all like living in the present, despairing in the now. Our famousest incarnation was as St. Canard -- we were unstoppable. Unfortunately, dissension in the ranks -- and the hate of the Red Ring of Death -- had us regrouping as The Griefgod Inscrutable. To a much lesser extent, we were the one-off No Seas Maje. We were also part of the second lineup of The Strikebeards, but that one went the way of the Padron. (F your i, I'm a pretty entertaining-slash-outrageous lead singer.)

When I say "we," I speak, of course, of my brother and me, and I, of course, speak of Rock Band Rock Band 2.

Released on Sunday, we got on that and we immediately tackled Duran Duran's "Hungry Like The Wolf," among others I'm sure. Then I scratched the disk the disk got scratched and I demanded the Best Buy associate for a new copy. She knew what was up, but The Sun Never Shines On TV found itself jamming to Squeeze last night. Our session came to an abrupt end when Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles came up in the form of Season 2, Episode 2. Helluva segue...

Fall is here, and after the TV lull of Summer (Mad Men, Phelps, Liukin, and Johnson notwithstanding), I am more than ready to become the braindead couch potato I was born to be. (I used to be a bed potato, but our HDTV is in the living room.) This blog will be dedicated to the wonderful programming that awaits us all in NTSC land (soon to be ATSC). For all of my international friends, I'm sorry I cannot cover the goings-on of PAL, but I'm sure you can catch Smallville sometime...

Mondays

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles (8:00, FOX)

Save the outcast boy, save the world. We all know the premise of the Terminator franchise -- Austrian neo-Nazi becomes governor of a liberal state as a Republican and James Cameron gets slightly richer. The second Terminator is still a fun movie to watch, so how could a FOX serial ever live up to that? Well, instead of having Robocop from the future as the omen of cybernetic doom, you have a luscious apparatus in the form of wooden Summer Glau as Cameron (snicker, snicker), the not-quite-human piece of ass ready to kill either other Terminators or the boy who she was sent to protect (by the boy himself, in the future). Throw in a MILF, a useless savior, going-nowhere subplots, a Beverly Hills 90210 alum, and the impending Judgment Day, and you've got a decent sci-fier.

My main concern with this show is, what can possibly be their endgame? We know Skynet wins, so, what, the puny humans are just gonna keep pushing it back? Christian Bale trades in his cape and cowl next year for brooding freedom fighter fatigues in next year's Terminator future perfect blockbuster, so until then, we can only hope that the robot and mom will make out in this TV show. Or that FOX won't ax it because of its costly special effects. (There's a liquid-cool Alex Mack Capri-Sun T-1000 on the show now!)

The Big Bang Theory (8:00, CBS)

Ah, the comedy tailored for geeks and the people who make fun of them. For one such as me, jokes about The Flash, Halo 3, and not getting the girl are awesome (sad?) to digest, and for your everyday Other, it's a hilarious way to see how that growing sect of people in society behave. Really, I don't know anyone who's not a geek. Except maybe Carol, but she's a dork, anyway. The overarching premise of this hit show (besides Star Wars allusions) is nerdcore Leonard is trying to get with the show's eye candy, the I've-wanted-her-for-years Kaley Cuoco. I can make a joke about her last name, but I'm too lost in her hips to attempt anything. So to speak.

How I Met Your Mother (8:30, CBS)

(If you're wondering, I manage conflicting schedules by catching repeats down the road.) How are people not watching this great little show about five New York compadres? It's constantly on the verge of cancellation, and it's a real pity considering the talent and creativity this gem brings every week. The cast of characters? Ted, the wistful every-buddy determined to find the love of his life -- and he did (who is the titular mama?), since the show is narrated by himself 30 years into the future, as Bob Saget. (SAGET!!!!!) You have Lily and Marshall, the cutesy-awesome couple with a slanted apartment. There's Robyn, the hott news reporter who was once a late-'80s tween pop sensation in Canada (think Canuck Debbie Gibson). Lastly, we come to awesome incarnate with NPH's Barney, that hellacious chick-plower whose catchphrases are as a LEGENDARY as his suits. Did I mention his father may be Bob Barker? No? Well, I shouldn't. You ought be watching, anyway.

Heroes (9:00, NBC)

Season Two of Heroes was lackluster. I'm being generous. Peter didn't know who he was, Hiro was in feudal Japan, Sylar was chilling with would-be immigrants, and they still gave Nikki face time. The best part of the short-lived series? Kristen Bell, the randy sexpot. It's been over nine months since I last got to see Claire, the cheerleader that was saved for the sake of the world, and that is a crime against humanity. (I represent humanity as a whole.) This third season will get us back on track, they say, and things look promising since this story arc has been labeled "Villains."

Tuesdays

Fringe (9:00, FOX)

This X-Files meets LOST thriller (forged by the latter's exec producer) only premiered last week, but it seems really promising. You have the makings of a good suspenseful show -- real-world echoes, mysterious evil organization, interesting characters you hope will evolve, and the kook who played Denethor in The Lord of the Rings. Also, you got the kid from Dawson's Creek The Mighty Ducks and Keen Eddie...Bring back Keen Eddie!

Eli Stone (10:00, ABC)

How many prophets of God will invade TV to champion the religious right and propel Amber Tamblyn to our consciousness? Not enough! Eli Stone is such a show. I was actually really worried that they would drop the guillotine on this one. Ratings were criminally low last season, but lucky for us Eli Stone fans (all seven of us), the ABC suits adore the show, and so it stayed. (A similar sitch occurred with Gilligan's Island -- network exec's wife liked Bonanza better, and bye-bye, Skipper.) Starring one of the droogs from Trainspotting, it is a heartwarming tale of a wealthy lawyer knocked down by a life-threatening aneurysm. Is he hallucinating or receiving divine inspiration? Whatever you may think, you cannot deny how beautiful Maggie is. Who the hell is Maggie, you ask? Only the cutest thing to hit TV since Pam Beesley!

Wednesdays

Pushing Daisies (8:00, ABC)

I have no idea where this idyllic Tim Burton-esque dramedy left off last season. A writer's strike will do that to one's memory. From what I can gather, the show was never as great as its pilot, but it was still very entertaining. How can a pie maker who can bring people back from the dead (with consequences!) not be entertaining? There's also his irrepressible love interest, Chuck, the would-be GF were it not for her one-touch-away-from-death plot twist  (bad pie maker, bad!). Cutesy Chuck's darling outlook is almost as eye-catching as Kristin Chenoweth's guilty performance. All in all, a winning who-dun-it caper with a charming, whimsical, rainbowy background. The fever, catch it!

It's South Park! Cartman will feed you your parents in a bowl! Cartman's hand will "make out" with Ben Affleck's pants! BUTTERS!!!!!!

In Spring, we get LOST in this timeslot, so for now, the waiting game we must play. Poor, poor Jeremy Bentham...

Smallville (8:00, The CW)

Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, and Supergirl are gone. What the hell? Look how many people they've offed. Only THREE regulars remain. From what I can tell, this eighth season will see the rise in "friendship" between Lois Lane and Clark Kent (finally). Did I want to know that? No. You try ignoring TVGuide.com's daily newsletters. Like termites, they is! Beyond that, same ol', same ol' with The Man Of Tomorrow. After so many years (I began watching it on premiere night in the 10th grade), you would think it would have lost its luster, but no, it only gets better. However, I did lose my wish to marry Chloe. Only slightly, only slightly.

My Name Is Earl (8:00, NBC)

More often than not, I miss Earl and the gang, but when I do catch him, it's good stuff. Except when he's in jail. Or in a coma. Get back on track, guys. Oh, and give the Yes, Dear alums more face time. It's what Crab Man would want.

Kath & Kim (8:30, NBC)

It's part of NBC's comedy block, so I'ma catch it in spite of knowing zilch about it. The clincher? Selma Blair's stomach.

The Office (9:00, NBC)

Everyone watches The Office, so why delve into the nuances of TV's most visible comedy? (Two and a Half Men is still TV's most watched sitcom, I don't know why...) It's still funny, in spite of reaching LCD viewers. (Don't know what LCD stands for? Thanks for proving my point.) In spite of cast shakeups, it's still the same at its core: Dwight is Dwight, Michael is the boss I dearly wish I could have, and Jim is still shrugging every two minutes. Sure, Jam (Jim + Pam) have become a "couple," ugh, as of late, forfeiting the show's emotional core, but they're still good. I guess...I wish they would bring back Rashida Jones. She was sex on sticks.

30 Rock (9:30, NBC)

TV's huzzah laffer, 30 Rock is the show you wish you could be a part of. The cast seems so cohesive, and yet so disjointed. Tina Fey is the coolest lady on TV (sorry, Ms. Arnett), and she demonstrated that she is a lot more than just one of the many Weekend Update anchors (in yo' mouf, Norm McDonald!). How can people not be watching this celebrated nonsense? You have Alec Baldwin and his irreverent smirk; Katrina Bowden's occasional smoldering appearances; Kenneth the slapjaw bumpkin; Jane Krakowski's prima donna fluffiness (she was hott as Betty in the second Flintstones flick); a veritable host of cartoony guest stars; and Tracy Morgan as Tracy Jordan, the wackiest caricature on primetime since Steven Q. Urkel...maybe. Hey, he did "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah" -- boys becoming men, men becoming wolves! Choke on that link alone, slapnuts.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (10:00, FX)

Without a doubt, the sunniest funniest show on TV. The premise is gold: four friends and a dysfunky father (Danny DeVito!) own a bar in the home of my Philly Cheesesteak. That's it. That is all you need for the funniest thing since Arrested Development. In its fourth season, this politically maladjusted riot always finds a way to poke fun of the most taboo of things. Raped by a gay black man? Only in the pilot. Take advantage of pro life manifestations to get with a hott right-winger? Why not! Find a baby in the dumpster and utilize it to make big bucks? Do it! Serve high schoolers alcohol, crash their parties, and show up to their prom? I would, too! Afraid of the phrase "Jew"? I know I am -- it is a hard J.

Last season's epic epitome of awesomeness occurred when the gang made a band. Naturally, Charlie "penned" his lyrics about getting raped by Night Man. And then came New Wave-tinged "Day Man": "Day Man, uh-ah-ahh! Fighter of the Night Man, uh-ah-ahh! Champion of the sun, uh-ah-ahh! Master of karate and friendship for everyone!" Synchronised clapping and glam-Bowie duds? Only in a show where DeVito lays your lifelong crush. If you are ready to experience sexual magic, then click on LINK and LINK.

The Simpsons (8:00, FOX)

Twenty seasons later, the yellow clan keeps on trucking (as if they would ever want to stop trucking). Will it ever find its series finale? Well, Matt Groening was thinking about adding a seventh helipad to his puppy's house...

King of the Hill (8:30, FOX)

So is Sunday the end of the week or the beginning? I hate Sundays. The day of foreboding...KotH has amazing longevity. I can't figure out what's keeping this seldom mentioned animated comedy alive, but it's a sure bet that it's people like me who enjoy a pleasant, under-the-radar satire. Also, there's a half-hour wait between The Simpsons and Family Guy...

Family Guy (9:00, FOX)

Lucky there's a family guy -- or else Seth MacFarlane wouldn't have $100 million to spend on covering up all of the hooker deaths he's caused. Did you know that MacFarlane (creator, voice of Peter, Brian, and Stewie) was supposed to be on one of the planes that crashed on 9/11? Pretty surreal to think that alcoholism could save a life. As for the show itself, it still gets by on zany manatee gags and references to 1980s pop culture. This season should give us the sequel to "Blue Harvest" -- just think, an hourlong Empire Strikes Back parody with Ernie the Giant Chicken as Boba Fett and Ollie Williams as Lando Calrissian ("Cloud City's pretty!").

Family Guy's unfunny step-brother. Oh, and there's an effeminate alien. Voila! A nutshell!

Entourage (10:00, HBO)

I don't have HBO anymore, but when I do catch the Jersey boys in their fifth season OnDemand, it's sure to be a fun ride teeming with envy and more envy. I so wish I could be those guys. You have Vince Chase, the nascent, somewhat vapid ex-Aquaman in groovy search for Hollywood immortality. He's in bed with a different girl every night, and when it's Mandy Moore or Carla Gugino (ahem), well, one can only take notice. His second is Erik (or E), a no-nonsense manager with a firm grasp on reality, even though he can never get his love life in check. Turtle is the crew's driver, a Jersey boy in big clothes with questionable baggies full of fun. Johnny Drama is Vinnie's older washed-up actor of a brother, and his antics are just awesomeness with a goatee. Lastly, you have Jeremy Piven as the riotous agent Ari Gold, the foulest mouth on TV today. When he's not telling E to go downtown on himself, he's chastising his whimsically gay assistant to...well, you get the idea. Entourage is not heavy on the funny, but it does bring entertainment by the assload. It's only a plus when you see Harvey Weinstein going off about mutilating wee Erik. My wish for this season? Keep eccentric director Walsh around. He made a film that bombed at Cannes -- will he kill himself? Or just Erik?

So there you is, jerkwads and homeboys, my flimsy excuse to post images of gorgeous women tentative Fall schedule. The midseason slate should inject some fresh blood into the sked with Joss Whedon's Dollhouse (Eliza Dushku was brewed in a sex cauldron). We also wait patiently for LOST, the greatest drama in the history of TV (after all, it gave us beachside Evangeline Lily). That show always manages to blow your mind every two seconds. I've literally screamed out in astonishment while watching it. Lastly, I alone shall anticipate the devilish return of Reaper, which was this close to getting the ax last season. It's a very decent show about the nerdy boyfriend from Grounded For Life acting as Satan's bounty hunter. Michael Ian Black as a gay demon? All bets are off!

Too bad I already featured a-ha's "The Sun Always Shines On TV" some weeks ago...

Oh, wait! There's always 2oo3's "The Sun Always Shines On TV (Live)" from the live album How Can I Sleep With Your Voice In My Head! I is a genius!

How Can I Sleep With Your Voice In My Head was actually the first a-ha anything I ever purchased. 2oo3 was when I became an aficionado, so serendipitous FTWs all around. The live highlights include the "Did Anyone Approach You," the awesomely-extended "Take On Me," the sing-alongs in "Hunting High And Low" and "The Living Daylights," and this little number, the live version of what is arguably a-ha's greatest effort. "The Sun Always Shines On TV" -- doesn't get any much better than that, folks.

Well, this is some B.S. Again. The music video is online, but no embedding allowed. I mean, what the hell's the damn point, then? Whatever, I wanted you all to experience sexual magic this awfully good musvid, so I took the liberty of uploading it myself. Go on. Además, me he enterado hace unas horas de que si no apruebo el examen que tengo este sábado a las 9:00h (qué buen momento para un examen), no recibiré beca este año. Eso significaría muchas cosas. Entre ellas, que dejaría de ser estudiante durante un año al menos. Bueno, poniéndonos en lo peor.

Pero este blog se ha centrado automáticamente en el mundo de las series y la televisión, casi sin que yo lo buscase (de verdad que no lo busqué). Y la verdad es que aunque esté pasando una mala racha, no abandono las series. Y septiembre es un mal mes para todo excepto para el tema que nos ocupa.

Anoche vi el 4x13 de Weeds. Tenía tantas ganas que ni esperé a los subtítulos. Aunque no dejo de leer malas opiniones sobre la cuarta temporada de la camella más guapa de la televisión, yo tengo que decir que no me ha decepcionado en ningún momento. El cambio de aires le ha sentado muy bien a los Botwin y sus amigos. La temporada ha tenido momentos genialísimos (como la gloriosa cena del 4x05), y algunos de los personajes han estado espectaculares (Celia, tan patética, tan fácil de odiar y amar, ésta ha sido su mejor temporada, o Andy, que no deja de crecer y crecer, y se va a comer la serie él solito, ya veréis). El caso es que Weeds es una de mis imprescindibles ya, y creo que lo seguirá siendo hasta su final. Seguramente me alegrará todos los veranos durante los próximos años.

Hasta nunca, True Blood

No como la nueva serie de Alan Ball. No quedé muy convencido cuando se filtró el pre-air, y esta tarde me he puesto a ver el 1x02 y he aguantado 10 minutos. No me interesa. Sólo la veré, no lo descarto, si dentro de semanas, meses o años, la voz popular afirma que es genial, como se hace con Six feet under.

Tampoco me han convencido los dos primeros episodios de Entourage, más que nada porque no me interesan en absoluto los personajes ni sus historias, quizá sólo la oportunidad de ver el mundo de Hollywood desde dentro (espera, ¿cuántas veces hemos tenido esa oportunidad?). Así que la dejo aparcada y no prometo volver a verla.

Hasta el 28 de septiembre, Dexter

Y vi el otro día el 3x01 filtrado de Dexter. También, por lo visto, hay gente que ha echado pestes de él. Pues no habremos visto lo mismo. Porque lo que yo vi fue la misma serie genial de siempre, con un protagonista en constante movimiento, y con una trama emergente. Hernán Casciari dice que en esta temporada Dexter se enfrentará a sus errores. Yo no me atrevo a adelantar lo que piensan hacer los guionistas, aunque ya comenté algunas de las afirmaciones sobre la tercera temporada, y me atrevo a decir que lo más interesante será el nuevo personaje, su amistad con Dexter, y el hecho de que inevitablemente acabarán enfrentándose. A muerte. Dexter es así.

Las series de Pocoyeando

Por último, lo que me diferencia de la mayoría de autores de blogs sobre series de televisión, es que no veo toda serie que se me cruza por delante. Aunque no lo parezca, soy bastante selectivo e intento ver las menos posibles. Sólo empiezo a ver una serie cuando me interesa de verdad, y las pocas veces que no ha sido así, no salió bien la cosa, así que no creo que cambie.

El caso es que este año voy a ver unas 15 series, que para algunos parecerá una locura enfermiza y para otros será un número sosillo. Desde aquí intentaré comentar el principio de las temporadas, que siempre es muy importante y suele marcar cómo irá la temporada en general. Como hay algunas que empiezan ya mismico y otras no vendrán hasta el año que viene, vamos a ir po
