Mamma mia, oggi è un turbinio di ricordi...stavo parlando con un amico di pallavolo di club e nazionale degli anni passati, quando di colpo mi son riaffiorati dei ricordi memorabili sempre a tema sportivo.
Ricordi che si legano in alcuni casi anche al mio carissimo papà, morto ormai da parecchi anni nel lontano 1989 ma che mi inculcava anche senza volerlo, alcune delle sue passioni. Il calcio mai mi è piaciuto e mai mi piacerà...anzi ne ho un'opinione molto poco gratificante.
Ma ricordo quella sera che andai a svegliarlo per dirgli che era morto Scirea e ricordo ancora le sue lacrime.
Ricordo le gare di sci viste insieme a lui davanti alla TV. Ricordo il biondo Oswald Toetsch, molto caruccio :-D , che non ha avuto una carriera folgorante, ma me lo ricordo su un podio, in quello che fu ricordato come il podio dei tre moschettieri...un podio 'azzurro', credo il primo di Alberto Tomba.
E passando appunto per Alberto Tomba, arrivo a quello che è stato il mio idolo nello sci, ovvero Pirmin Zurbriggen. Quante litigate in casa per gli eterni duelli tra lui e Tomba, ma io sono notoriamente quasi sempre antipatriottica ora non farebbe più notizia! :D
E che dire delle sfide tra Zurbriggen e Girardelli???? Pezzi di storia!
Poi già da allora quando mi prendeva una fissa quella era, e diventavo 'pericolosa'! :D
Prendevo carta e penna e non avevo problemi a mandare lettere di protesta o di elogi spudorati e ruffiani a secondo delle occasioni. Ricordo di aver scritto al già citato Oswald Toetsch ed anche al nuotatore Giorgio Lamberti! Ve lo ricordate???? Lettere senza indirizzo, giusto il paese di residenza... Ma le risposte non si fecero attendere troppo cariche di gadgets! All'epoca, quelle erano soddisfazioni per l'ego! :D
Chissà dove saranno andate a finire...sicuramente in fondo a qualche cassetto oltre a quello dei ricordi. ;-)

Oh God, today it'is a swirl of memories ...linked in some cases to my dear father, dead several years ago. Often I 'learned from him' the same passions.
I hate football, but I remember the night that I went to wake up him telling that Scirea had died and I still remember his tears.
I remember ski races saw together in front of the TV. I remember the blond skier Oswald Toetsch, very nice :-D , which had not a dazzling career but I remember him on a podium, remembered as the podium of the three musketeers ... a 'blue' podium, I think the first for Alberto Tomba.
And speaking about Alberto Tomba, I arrive to my idol in the sky: Pirmin Zurbriggen, an alpine skier from Switzerland, one of the all time great ski racers. How many arguments with my daddy at home cause the eternal duels between him and Tomba? :D
What about the challenges between Zurbriggen and Girardelli? Pieces of history!
Often I had no problems in sending letters of protest or praise, it depended from the occasions. :D
I remember that I wrote to the above-mentioned Oswald Toetsch and also the swimmer Giorgio Lamberti! Do your remember him? Perhaps no address, just the town of residence ... But I didn't wait for a longtime to riceive the answers with gadgets! At that time, those were satisfactions for the ego! : D
Who knows where they will be gone ... certainly at the bottom of a drawer than that of memories. ;-)

And I know it was a literal penny, because I couldn't be off a cent any other way. Not even through credit cards.
Ugh.

And there were other people handling my cash drawer today. I wish I could say "whoop! day 4 since it was probably THEM that did it" but I don't know that =( I'm just going to have to work from day 1 again soon...
*sigh*

Anyways, not much happened today. I traded my shift with someone so that instead of working this one annoying-ish carnival game, I was able to work at the store. I enjoy using a cash register much more than an apron.
However--guess what?--The carnival game breaks down and closes! And the guy I traded gets put on relatively easy stocking work and when that's done, he just waits around in the office till he was needed.
GAH!
Unlucky day for me today. lol
But I think I made another family's day--at least, in part I did. I was given a set of rental keys that was lost, and about an hour later was approached by a guy looking for keys.
When I determined they were his, he was ECSTATIC. He thanked me a bunch of times, then went over to his family, who returned to thank me a bunch more times and even offer me $20 as a tip.
"haha sorry, I can't take tips, but thank you"
"That's ok, I'll just 'accidentally' put it over here, and you can pick it up after I leave"
Thankfully his wife told him that I'd probably be fired if I took the money, cuz I sure wasn't doing a good job of getting the point across.
It's good though--I'm really glad I was able to help them =) The guy said he had a bunch of "client's papers" in a briefcase in the car that would have caused a horrible situation if someone else got the keys and stole the car.

Anyways.
Overall, it was a very good day =)

It was the place I collected only the most important things to me at the time.  To most people, it would have been filled with worthless junk.  In fact, I am not too sure I would want any of it NOW (I don't even know where the drawer IS.)  But each item in that drawer was well thought out and discerned with care of its worth and warrant as  determined by me at that time.  I was careful to think long and hard about what should make its way into my drawer.  All other items were unworthy of the drawer.

Whether or not the items are of any value now, they were important enough to be sure I kept hold on the drawer even after the desk was long gone; even after several family moves later.  I was devoted to taking care of that drawer because it contained important items, and those items made all the effort worth the work and care.

I remembered a little metal drawer after reading through Philippians 4 today, specifically verses 6-8.

The last couple weeks, I have read my Bible a lot, but I cannot say I have really "come to God's word" today.  I have been disciplined at reading a book the last couple weeks, but not disciplined in connecting with God in that reading or much of anything for a couple weeks.  Philippians 4:6-8 has struck me to the heart to realize how important that time needs to be.

My heart and mind are little metal drawers, and that time I set aside to read through scripture or do ANYTHING needs to be approached with that in mind.  There are all sorts of things that pass through my heart and mind in the course of a day; thoughts and ideas about God, myself, others, the world... Which of those things make their way into my heart's drawer?

"Because," says Henri Nouwen, "in this useless hour in which you do nothing 'important' or 'urgent', you have come to terms with your basic powerlessness...you will find out that your many projects, plans, and obligations become less urgent, crucial, and important and lose their power over you.  They will leave you free during your time with God and take their appropriate place in your life."

Personally, I think writing is drawing with words, and drawing is writing a picture, step by step either way. you cannot explain a picture in one word, and you cannot sum up a block of text the second you begin drawing. The two are interchangeable. However, there are some things that can only be described in vibrant color and lines rather than words, and some events can only be detailed with the most undrawable words. As a result, a Wriawer is born, those who use both of them as needed to express themselves.

The truth is, it is not Apple who invent these animated display of object, but that the invention must owe its credit to the Flash and Javascript animated pages on the Web.

The narrator concludes a few sentences later:

In my heart I begged the escritoire forgiveness for the harsh treatment, while my mind found its doubt corroborated -- that the outward after all is not the inward, and my empirical proposition confirmed-- that luck is needed to make such discoveries.
