<p>Seusai MOM hari Jumat, saya kontak pak Agung Sedayu rekan lama saya untuk bertemu. Beliau dulu yang pernah bertemu saya dengan Ibu Evie - Rekan EU Pemilik Beberapa Sekolah di daerah Jakarta Timur dan Bekasi.</p>
<p>Kita bertemu untuk berbuka bersama di Hotplanet Restaurant, Sarinah Thamrin. Ternyata pak Agung ingin  membicarakan kerjasama tentang <em>e-travel</em> dan <em>e-ticket</em>,  atau dengan kata lain adalah pengembangan sistem <em>ticketing</em> dan <em>travel</em> melalui SMS atau program yang bisa diaplikasikan lewat telepon selular, dengan bendera <a href="http://gmb-indonesia.com">PT Garuda Makmur Bersama</a> yang merupakan anak perusahaan dari <a href="http://garuda-indonesia.com">Garuda Indonesia</a>.</p>

<p>Menurut saya rencana kerjasama kali ini akan menjadi besar selain ini merupakan hal yang sangat baru, juga hal ini sudah disetujui oleh pihak maskapai <a href="http://garuda-indonesia.com">Garuda Indonesia</a> dan <a href="http://www.abacus-ind.co.id/">ABACUS</a>. Selain itu potensinya pun bisa merambah ke maskapai lain dan merchant-merchant pendukung.</p>
<p>Saya juga berfikir hal ini kedepannya juga sangat bisa saling mendukung dengan CMM sebagai perusahaan kreatif. Karena tidak menutup kemungkinan CMM dapat mensupport kebutuhan media baik Garuda Indonesia maupun merchant-merchant yang akan bekerjasama dengan Garuda Indonesia dan di dunia per-travel-an.</p>
<p>Mudah-mudahan manajemen CMM bisa melihat potensi ke depan dari kerjasama ini, sehingga bisa naik level lebih cepat.</p>

<p>If you can avoid having a "paper" ticket please do so. We travelled with a paper ticket and it is a hassle to change the dates of flights and can also incur a cost. <strong>Get an E-ticket.</strong></p>
<p>I have always found Qantas to be excellent to deal with directly and can be cheaper than using a travel agent.</p>
<p>Noch mehr zum Thema aus dem <strong>Weltreiseforum</strong>:</p>
<p>Die einmalige E-Ticket-Nummer (ihr braucht sie sogar nur im Kopf zu haben) legitimiert Euch.<br />
Entweder dem E-Ticketautomaten am Flughafen gegenueber, in den Ihr sie nur einzugeben braucht, oder aber dem Fluglinienpersonal am Schalter gegenueber.<br />
Eure Daten sind ja schon im System der Airline gespeichert, Ihr braucht Euch dann nur wie auch sonst mit Eurem Reisepass vorzustellen.</p>

Croyez-vous que cela a stoppé l’inflation tarifaire ? Que nenni ! On a bien assisté à une hausse des tarifs là où la compagnie est majoritaire sur son marché. Air France à bien l’intention d’empocher les 6% de rémunération des agences et, conformément à sont plan « challenge 10 », d’augmenter de 2% le prix des billets en été et 2% en hiver.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">L’argument du billet électronique est-il recevable alors que le taux d’équipement Internet des foyers en Afrique est de l’ordre de 1% ??? L’objectif non avoué de Air France est clairement de profiter de l’avancée technologique qu’est Internet pour augmenter ses bénéfices au détriment de ceux qui l’on fait devenir ce qu’elle est aujourd’hui ! (NDLR : Air France réalise ses meilleurs chiffres d’affaires par passager sur les lignes africaines. Les tickets pour l'Afrique sont, en effet, réputés, pour être parmi les plus chers du monde pour des distances qui ne sont pas les plus longues et une qualité de service pas toujours à hauteur du coût. )</span></span></p>

Après plusieurs années de bataille, la justice leur a donné raison au mois de mai dernier.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Ainsi, dans ce combat, les agences de voyage comptent sur le soutien des autorités politiques qui doivent s'impliquer pour la préservation des emplois créés par ces agences qui contribuent à l'équilibre social. Un conseil et une expertise que les voyagistes pourraient désormais appliquer ailleurs qu’auprès d’une compagnie dont ils représentent une part importante du chiffre d’affaire.</span></span></p>

Even with this convenient method there are still a few things to remember before heading out to the airport. Most critical is to call the airlines at least 24 hours prior to departure. Airlines are frequently changing their flight schedules at the last minute. If you are using an "<a title="Learn more about E-ticket" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_ticket" target="_blank">E-ticket</a>" remember to print a copy of your flight itinerary to take with you for check in. Some airlines allow you to print your boarding pass online 24 hours prior to your flight. Many carriers have convenient "kiosks", if you have your printed itinerary you can input your confirmation code and print your boarding pass right then. This saves time and is available if you only have carry on luggage.</p>
<p>You must have your printed boarding passes to proceed through security and on to the gate. Above all take your valid government issued identification such as your driver's license or passport for check in.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Today I intend to tell you the story of Ramudu and Shyamudu.</p>
<p>Ramudu had to travel to Chennai from Hyderabad, to check the average height above mean sea level of the Chepauk pitch. Considering the Iraq war, the oil crisis, the recent air-fare hike and the relocation of the Hyderabad airport to Shamshabad, he decides that traveling by Indian Railways is a far cheaper and more comfortable option. So one fine morning, he goes early to the Railway Reservation Counter at Secunderabad. The office is yet to be opened, yet he reaches early in time. He is joined by many others most of whom, who weren't like him. Ramudu was there to book a ticket , well ahead of his scheduled departure, whereas most of  these people were there to book tickets under Tatkal quota.</p>
<p>Fools, Ramudu thought of these people, because he saw the <a href="http://indianrailhelp.blogspot.com/2007/05/tatkal.html" target="_blank">Tatkal quota </a>in a totally different light. It was similar to what he saw at Anand theatre in Begumpet. The management would open the advance booking counter for the evening and night shows in the afternoon and close it early. Later in the evening, before the respective shows, they would put up House-Full boards and then sell a significant chunk of the tickets for these shows, in black. Ramudu saw Tatkal quota as a front put up by the Indian Railways to sell tickets in black. If only the government could do the same by legalizing ( illicit ) drugs, betting and the related what nots and earn heavily and do away with the multiple taxation structure and Ramudu, with his enhanced savings, could travel to Chennai by a flight, in spite of the higher airfares. But then again, this was the stuff dreams were made of. Ramudu realized he was still standing in line for the Railway Reservation Office to open.</p>
<p>Open it did finally at 745AM and he rushed to the inquiry counter, picked up a reservation form and rushed to one of the many counters. Since Ramudu was a regular to this ordeal, he knew one thing very clearly. One might be at the end of the line before the office is opened, but with so many counters, one can still be in the first 5 persons in a line at any one of those counters.  It so happened that he was the fifth person at one such counter. But there is a sense of uncertainty about these counters at the start of the day. In front of every counter, there is a display board, showing the availability, train no., fare and related details of the booking they are making, assisting the customer to get the exact change ready as the Booking Executive (B.E. if one may call them that ) goes about booking the ticket.</p>
<p>Now it was a known fact for Ramudu and others, that the counters which had their display boards powered off, were not going to opened immediately and would be done only if there is a huge rush for reservations. But it also happens that some of these counters, which had their display boards on, are not opened at 8am, but a little later in the morning, say after 30-45 minutes or so.  But there are customers at all the counters which have their display board powered on. One by one, the railway staff started occupying their seats at the counters, in a seemingly random order. At this stage all but few ( 2-3 ) lines, were being catered to by the railway staff. Ramudu was in one of those few which weren't. But he had not wasted time while this simple situation was being obfuscated by a gargantuan description. He had meticulously filled the reservation form and was patiently waiting.</p>
<p>But his patience started to run out, when he saw that he was in one of <em>those</em> lines. He started contemplating moving to another line. At this moment, sanity prevailed as he remembered  <em>The Golden Rule of Lines in Railway Reservation Office </em>( to hell with Queues ), which stated that, the moment you ditch a line on the premise that it is moving slowly and move to another, that line will move so much more faster than the line to which you have moved to. Of course, the rule never alluded to the pace of the line when you showed loyalty to it in  the time of a conflict of interest between two lines, but the disincentive proved enough for Ramudu to decide against moving to another line. For this, he was rewarded with a railway staff person immediately taking charge of the counter. Poor fellow got stuck in traffic it seems.</p>
<p>There were a few who shifted lines only to be done in by the Golden Rule. Their counters, got staffed 2 minutes after they had left the line and they created a huge commotion at the Chief Superintendent's counter. In spite of all this around him, Ramudu was not perturbed one bit. He was in fact, feeling good about himself for having stuck to the line. It moved and it was now his turn. The B.E. , after confirming with Ramudu, entered the details in to the DOS command like package from the previous century, from the reservation form. After a final confirmation about the berth to be allocated, the B.E. pressed a combination of keys and voila, came out the ticket, looking something like this <em><a title="Know Your Ticket - Indian Railways - East Coast Railway" href="http://eastcoastrailway.gov.in/website/passenger-service/reservation-rules.htm" target="_blank">Know Your Ticket </a> </em>dummy ticket.</p>

<p>( Note that the ticket has no details about the passenger's name or the photo-id that they ought to be carrying )</p>
<p>Since this story was supposed to also include Shyamudu, let me bring him in now. Shyamudu wanted to accompany Ramudu, since it was his Differential GPS  that Ramudu was taking for the measurement.  Ramudu informed  Shyamudu  about his  travel plans. Shyamudu was  not inclined to go to the  Reservation  Office, stand in line and book the ticket manually.  Instead, he preferred to use the Indian Railways online booking service at <a title="IRCTC" href="http://www.irctc.com" target="_blank">www.irctc.com</a>. He logged in, searched for the train Ramudu was traveling by, entered his travel details, credit(debit) card details and photo-id details. Everything is done in a flash and a printout of the ticket is ready.For travel, Shyamudu (foolishly) decides to take a photocopy of his passport and not the passport itself, citing ( to himself ) security reasons.</p>
<p>The travel to Chennai went ahead without an incident. Together they found out that a barometre would hardly suffice their cause, and that they needed to invest in a differential GPS to get anywhere close to the accuracy levels they needed to settle their argument on the pitch at Chepauk. After having a nice meal at <a href="http://www.muruganidlishop.com/" target="_blank">Murugan Idli Shop</a>, they boarded the train back to Hyderabad. The TTE ( Traveling Ticket Examiner ) arrived a good hour into the journey. Ramudu gave his ticket, following which the TTE did the routine looking back forth into the reservation chart and ticket, ticked the reservation chart across Ramudu's name and returned the ticket to Ramudu with the most lifeless face. Then he took Shyamudu's e-ticket, checked with the chart and asked Shyamudu for his photo-id. Shyamudu showed the photocopy of his passport. The TTE refused to accept the photocopy of the passport, which had Shyamudu's photograph, as a valid proof of identity. He insisted on the passport being present in original for him to verify. Shyamudu was fined for traveling without ticket. What happened after that is beyond the scope of this textbook.</p>
<p>Finally the rant after all that crap.</p>
<p>I do not know whether Shyamudu actually paid the fine. As such he could have just shown another valid photo-id in original and be done with the process. But Shyamudu was a 70 year old lady who at that point of time, did not have any other id on her person. All she could come up with was a &#60;em&#62;this will not happen another time as I was not aware of the details&#60;/em&#62;. Probably someone else had booked the ticket for her online.</p>
<p>This whole situation made me finally write what I felt about a situation. The verification of identity, for railway travelers using an e-ticket. It is important to note the premise of this verification; a ticket booked on one person's name is not <a href="http://indianrailhelp.blogspot.com/2007/05/reservation-rules.html" target="_blank">transferrable </a>to another person. Verification is needed, that is something I totally agree but what is irksome is the fact that the same verification is not done for Ramudu. Note that Ramudu needn't always be a <em>manchi baaludu </em>( good boy ). It could very well be that Bhimudu had booked the ticket on Bhimudu's name but Ramudu travels ( he got the ticket somehow ) pretending to be Bhimudu.</p>
<p>The two basic ( for my rant ) differences between a normal ticket and an e-ticket is that for the e-ticket you pay a little bit more and that the information is keyed in by a railway employee in one case and the customer in the other. So the railway decides to trust their own info excessively but is totally skeptical about the customer. Fine. But the chances of malpractice are the same in both the cases. In that case they ought to be checking every single passenger's identity. I know it is not all that viable but that is the only solution that I see that can be termed fair  to e-ticket passengers and monetarily beneficial to the Railways. One might say that it ends up being more workload for the TTE's but for someone whose job is checking every ticket, checking another ID should not be a big deal. But then not everyone has an id, you may say. Then why the insistence on an ID for an e-ticket only?</p>
<p>As I see it now, one gets suspected for using the online portal, paying more to the railways and avoiding the personal contact with the Reservation office whereas you can go scot-free for having a normal ticket, even if you are flouting the most basic of rules.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">So we leave for our trip next Sunday. I wish I could just be purely 100% excited at the moment without a billion small random work related things weighing on my mind. I think I'm just being a perfectionist when it comes to handover notes that might not even get read. Anyway...</p>
<p>This is the first time I have been overseas on my own... well I'm going with Alex but neither of us have been overseas when WE and we are alone are in charge of getting ourselves to every stage of the international journey. I've always just tagged behind my parents. I'm freaking out a little!</p>
<p>I'm a bit nervous about this whole e-ticket thing. I've paid thousands of dollars to the Flight Centre for Alex and my Korean Air tickets... and all I have is an emailed flight itinerary to show for it. I don't even have any kind of print out with a barcode on it, or a flight booking number! Just my itinerary from the Flight Centre with our names on it. It makes me feel a little ill! I'm told that since everything is done electronically these days, all I need to do is rock up with my itinerary and passport and off I'll go. But our flight leaves at 9am on a Sunday morning - and we're aiming to get at the airport at 6am, so if something goes awry I won't be able to call the travel agent about it! Ahhh.</p>

berada pada urutan kedua di kawasan Asia Pasifik. Laporan statistik<br />
Asosiasi Perusahaan Penerbangan Internasional (IATA) menyebutkan, hingga<br />
Maret 2007, penetrasi penggunaan elektronik tiket di Indonesia sudah<br />
mencapai 82 persen.</p>
<p>Posisi itu lebih tinggi dari rata-rata penetrasi penggunaan tiket<br />
elektronik berbagai maskapai penerbangan di Asia Pasifik yang hanya 67<br />
persen.</p>
<p>Bahkan, capaian Indonesia pun lebih tinggi dari rata-rata dunia yang<br />
mencapai 79 persen. Posisi pertama ditempati Selandia Baru yang mencapai<br />
penetrasi hingga 87,86 persen. Australia menempati urutan ketiga<br />
penetrasi penggunaan tiket elektronik 81,28 persen.</p>
<p>Penggunaan sistem tiket elektronik di Indonesia diawali oleh PT Garuda<br />

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tiket elektronik <i>(electronic ticket / e-ticket)</i> digunakan untuk melayani pembelian kursi penumpang pesawat terbang. Bentuk tiket ini kini telah banyak menggantikan fungsi tiket kertas <i>(paper ticket)</i> yang lama. Tiket Elektronik juga memperkecil biaya pelayanan <i>airlines</i>, sehingga harga tiket juga dapat ditekan. Tiket semacam ini digunakan juga untuk voucher hotel, dan tiket hiburan tertentu.<br />
Setelah reservasi dilakukan, e-ticket akan tampil sebagai catatan digital bagi komputer <i>airline</i>.<br />
Pelanggan biasanya mencetak / <i>print</i> salinan bukti reservasi berisikan kode booking atau nomer reservasi dan nomor e-ticket itu sendiri.</p>
<p><b><i>Check in</i> dengan <i>e-ticket</i></b><br />
Untuk <i>check in</i> dengan e-tiket, penumpang biasanya datang ke konter <i>check-in</i> dan menunjukkan kode booking atau kode konfirmasi. <i>Airlines</i> tertentu bahkan tidak membutuhkan kode booking, selama reservasi dapat dipastikan dengan Kartu identitas penumpang. Setelah reservasi telah dikonfirmasi, penumpang dapat <i>check-in</i> bagasi dan diberikan <i>boardingpass</i>.</p>
<p><b>Keuntungan menggunakan tiket pesawat elektronik</b></p>
<p>Banyak keuntungan yang didapatkan bagi penumpang pesawat terbang yang menggunakan e-ticket. diantaranya :<br />
1. <b>Terhindar dari kehilangan tiket pesawat secara fisik</b>, karena pada dasarnya, setelah kode booking dikonfirmasi, nama penumpang telah tercatat di sistem airlines.<br />
2. Penumpang terhindar dari resiko void tiket yang disebabkan kesalahan penulisan pada <i>paper ticket </i>oleh travel agent.<br />
3. Penumpang tidak perlu bertemu secara fisik dengan travel agent karena e-ticket bisa didapat melalui email, fax atau hanya berupa sms code booking, dan pembayaran bisa dilakukan dengan transfer via ATM atau internet/sms banking.<br />
4. Biaya komunikasi antara penumpang-travel agent dapat di tekan melalui komunikasi internet yang sudah sangat mudah diakses di mana-mana.</p>

Yesterday I purchased my train ticket from Geneva to Basel on the Swiss Railway site (<a href="http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm" title="Swiss Rail" target="_blank">http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm</a>)  - no login required. For many years Swiss Rail gives three delivery options: mail, email, or multi-media message.</p>
<p>I downloaded my ticket as a PDF (with a specially printed 'barcode' on it) and printed it out. Try that on <a href="http://www.amtrak.com" title="Amtrak.com" target="_blank">Amtrak</a> in the U.S.! Amtrak requires a log in for on-line ticket purchases and they must be physically picked up at kiosks in train stations. Credit card purchased tickets also have to signed - on board. Even the airlines let you print out your boarding pass!</p>
<p>I could have opted to send it as an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedia_Messaging_Service" title="Definition of MMS on Wikipedia" target="_blank">MMS </a>message to my cellular phone. (The airlines have been telling us for years we'll be able to scan an e-ticket from cellphones under a board card scanner any day now, but so far no airline I know is doing this.) I opted not to because I honestly have no idea what AT&#38;T Wireless will charge me for receiving a multi-media message while roaming internationally. The <a href="http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/messaging-internet/messaging/faq-text-messaging.jsp#international" title="AT&#38;T international text messaging" target="_blank">AT&#38;T FAQ</a> says text messages sent are 50 cents each and received are 15 cents each. But AT&#38;T's site does not tell you how much an international multi-media message costs if you are not signed up for their $5/month global roaming customer. Blackberry customers - who also happen to have wads of cash lying around - can pony up for the $80/month unlimited data global roaming plan. No thanks.</p>
<p>So thanks to AT&#38;T, I'll rummage around in my bag for the printout instead of being able to wave my cellphone in front of the train conductor. At least the trains run on time. Your tech world traveler....</p>

<p><font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Les compagnies aériennes membres de l'IATA bénéficient d'une nouvelle échéance pour émettre des titres de transport entièrement dématérialisés. </font><br />

A cette date, les compagnies aériennes auront pour obligation d'émettre des titres de transport entièrement dématérialisés. Cette directive, qui émane de l'Association internationale des transports aériens (IATA) devait à l'origine être appliquée dès ce 1er janvier 2008, par les 240 compagnies aériennes signataires, représentant 95 % des voyages actuels.</font> </font></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Arial"><font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font size="2" color="#000000" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"></font><font size="2" color="#000000" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#000000">Mais, en raison de la lourdeur de la mise en place des infrastructures, ou du réveil tardif de certaines compagnies, l'IATA a décidé d'accorder un délai de 5 mois supplémentaires à ses membres. Le ticket électronique ne deviendra donc obligatoire que le 1er juin 2008 prochain.</font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Arial"><font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font size="2" color="#000000" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> </font><font size="2" color="#000000" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#000000">D'après le dernier pointage effectué fin décembre par l'association sur 96,5 % des lignes aériennes, le voyage se fait au moyen d'un e-ticket. Les compagnies aériennes européennes font office de bons élèves. Le taux de pénétration du billet dématérialisé y est de 93 %, contre 66 % en Russie par exemple.</font></font></font></font></p>

<p>今回の急なカナダへ帰国の原因は、１１月の予定でいけるはずだったパリでのカンフィレンス <a href="http://www.leweb3.com/leweb3/2007/11/the-leweb3-2007.html" target="_blank">Le Web 3' 07</a> 、チケットも貰えることになっていながらも、ドタキャンになってしまったからだ。<br />
夫の家族や自分の友人にも会えるので、さっそく目的地を変更してパリからバンクーバーに。年末、年始でほとんど席が満席だったので、必然と席が空いている日、飛行機のベースでの検索となり、その結果Northwest航空のアメリカ経由便に決まった。E-Ticketなのはよかったのだが、そういえば去年買った片道航空券も、支払いは銀行振り込みのみで、クレジットカードが使えなかったことがちょっと残念だった。</p>

私たちは、偶々乗り継ぎのため、出発ゲートすぐ隣の<a href="http://www.laurelwoodbrewpub.com/restaurants.php">LAURELWOOD BREWING CO</a>のレストランで朝食を注文した。その時点ではWifiの状況は全くわからず、とりあえずオーダーを待っている間に試したらOKだった。おかげで飛行機のBoarding Timeま近までインターネットがフリーで使えて、さすが日本では携帯でインターネットがどこにでも使えるように、北米では、Free Wifiの環境がかなり整っているんだと痛感？した。北米に住んでいるときはさほど気にもしなかったが、何をするにもお金がかかる日本に住んでみると、”無料で使い放題”ということ自体が、ともて”心の広い”おもてなしだと思えて仕方なかった。</p>
