These are nice. Kind of like the kind Eazy E used to wear. Since I'm way too tired to actually write something coherent and even remotely interesting, I'll let Highsnobiety do it.

UK label Tonite worked with Australia's CoLab on a series of overall 3 sunglasses, of which two have been released today. The two models come in black and feature trademark Tonite graphics that have been added to the frame.

Along with your sunglasses you also received a recycled cardboard tube with Tonite signature packing tape and color coded lid, an A2 Colab/Tonite Poster, a Calico string tie sunglass cover and a microfibre lens cleaning cloth designed by Tonite.

Thanks for the help guys, I needed it.

I can remember 1995 like it was just yesterday. I was 15, full of angst, and spent every minute I could listening to rap music. At the time, my favorite rapper was a little guy with a giant persona by the name of Eric Wright AKA "Eazy-E".

Eazy was a pioneer of "Gangsta Rap", had a legendary sense of humor, and was about to make headlines all over the world with his untimely death after doctors discovered he had full blown A.I.D.S. just days prior.

You don't have to be a Rap fan to appreciate this awesome autograph Eazy signed for a fan in 1988. You can see what detail and time he put into making this fan happy despite having a reputation as a "thug".

The card below is from a set called 'Rap Pack' released in 1991. I guess you could call it his trading card "rookie" if you'd like. Believe it or not, there is a sealed wax box of this stuff for just $5 on eBay at the moment but the Eazy autograph is a true one of a kind.

You can find one of his best music videos below the card. It is from Eazy's first solo album and is worth a watch if you like 80's cheese and old school Hip-Hop.

The Game has paid a macabre tribute to his hip-hop heroes Tupac Shakur, Eazy-E and the Notorious B.I.G. in a new song - by stepping into their shoes for the last 10 minutes of their lives.

The Los Angeles-based hitmaker claims the new track “Never Can Say Goodbye” off of his third album L.A.X. offers his version of the late icons’ final moments.

He explains, “I wanted to be in Biggie, Pac and Eazy-E’s shoes the last 10 minutes of their lives, so I wrote verses as if I were. In their last moments, they knew they were going to die, or at least felt like they might.”

The Game insists he can put himself where they were before they passed - because he almost died after getting shot.

He tells King magazine, “I got shot and felt like it was over for me. I’ve got something in common with them (Shakur, Eazy-E and Notorious B.I.G.), except I didn’t pass; I came back to life.”

Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. were both killed in shooting incidents in 1996 and 1997 respectively, and N.W.A. star Eazy-E lost his life to Aids in 1995.

Since you're on the __ why don't you drop to your knees. (Eazy-E, 1992 - including the blog title)

Apparently, the "N-Word" controversy has cropped up again. Whoopie Goldberg argues that black people have reclaimed the hurtful word and have made it their own and that they (black people) have the right to use it any way they so desire. Sympathetic white people such as Elizabeth Hasselbeck say that the word shouldn't be used by anyone especially since there is a double standard associated with the word. Jesse Jackson says it shouldn't be used in public but then uses it himself to refer to black people. A white comedian (Michael Richards) uses it on stage during a comedy show and is vilified by it but Chris Rock uses it in every other sentence and he is a comedic genius.

Double Standards are wack. Consider this.

SB News Service

(New York, NY) -75 African American child molesters were lynched in their community today by other African Americans who condemned vile acts of child molestation. The white community stood by and allowed the lynchings to occur because "lynchings have historically been a symbol of degrading black people" and "we don't want to get involved in it."

Katie Couric asked the leader of the lynch mob how they have justified lynching the criminals in their community and lynch mob leader Al Sharpton said, "lynchings are now the property of black people. We are the only ones allowed to use them and any white person who questions our actions is racist."

"But that seems like a double standard, Mr. Sharpton," Ms. Couric asked him. "Not only is it not a double standard," Rev. Sharpton replied, "but if a white person lynches another white person, that's racist too."

"Oh, well, that makes perfect sense," Ms. Couric acquiesced. "Now, what if a white person commits a crime against a black person?" she added.

"Well, we will lynch them too."

Rush Limbaugh on his radio program stated that "lynchings are cruel and unusual punishment and shouldn't be used by anyone as a form of punishment." Presidential Candidate Barry Obama issued a press release stating, "this is further proof that Rush Limbaugh is a racist and should be taken off the public airwaves."

Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation in Congress today to reintroduce the "fairness doctrine" so that the point that lynchings aren't a cruel and unusual form of punishment is given equal airtime. But when questioned as to whether white people should be able to say on air that oppossing black on black lynchings is not racist, Nancy Pelosi said, "Racist speech like that should not be allowed on the public airwaves, period."

--

Words are Words. A word only has power when you associate power with the word. This is satire and I'm guaranteed to get mean comments because of the title that Eazy-E wrote. I'm personally offended by the phrase "the n-word." It's like the villain in the Harry Potter books and movies whom no one could say his name but he was always hanging around.

Here's a piece of a post I wrote on April 1st: Words are only words. Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. Sick of reading or hearing people refer to words by the first letter. "the N-Word, the C-Word, the F-Word, the other F-Word, the G-Word followed by the D-Word, and so on. How is saying "the N-Word" any less offensive than saying the actual word? It's the conotation and meaning not the verbal expression. Don't believe me? Walk up to Suge Knight and with a snippy tone say, "You ain't nothin' but a N-Word." The result will be the same as if you said the actual word. http://scottbrooks.com/2008/04/01/republican-or-democrat-or-libertarian-or-disenfranchised/

UPDATE: Before I wrote this post if you had googled Scott Brooks, I would have been the fourth search result. I had steadily been climbing for months about one slot per month. Since I wrote this post, I have steadily dropped all day even though visits to the website have been through the roof. Now, I have gone from 4th to the 10th search result in less than 1 day. So, I believe it's the result of the use of the N-Word. So in order to stop the bleeding I have had to purge this post of the words google must find offensive. If you had googled scottbrooks all run together, I was first, now it's second behind a twitter site. Sorry google for my transgression.

“The West Coast has birthed some of the hardest lyrics to hit the rap world, with songs like

"The West Coast has birthed some of the hardest lyrics to hit the rap world, with songs like “F**k the Police,” “6 N the Mornin,” and “It Was a Good Day.” The heart of some of the grittiest rhymes emerged from the streets of Compton, where hustling, and gangbanging were a way of life.

NWA introduced the world to Gangster Rap in the 80’s; Lil Eazy-E will resuscitate it in 2008, with his debut release on the Universal/Blackground label “Prince of Compton,” scheduled to drop September 16, 2008. The first release “What We’re Claimin” is a gangster’s anthem, with rich lyrical flow over funky, hard hitting beats.

Lil Eazy-E continues the legacy of his late father, rap icon Eric Eazy-E Wright, by delivering a searing collection of bone-crushing songs about the streets of his hometown, Compton. Lil Eazy’s lyrics reflect on the life and untimely death of his father, giving listeners an intimate look into their world.

He is prepared to put his own personal twist on the legacy left by his father. Lil Eazy-E’s lyrics tell the story of his life growing up in Compton, and living with one of the icons of gangster rap. He addresses all who have questioned his skills, the life and death of his father, and studio gangsters building careers by imitating the appearance and persona of West Coast pioneers that brought the streets of South Central to the rap game. Having grown up with many of the legends of gangster rap, it’s only natural that he call-out those that are faking in their music and in front of the cameras.

Lil Eazy-E is holding nothing back. He is dealing with subjects that until now have been fueled by rumors, such as his lifestyle since his fathers passing.

“A lot of people probably think I grew-up in the Suburbs of Southern California, living a privileged life. What they don’t know is I was born and raised in the same house as my father, the oldest of nine kids. We were a big family that all grew-up together. I lived the same life as my father, and I’m giving you that life on ‘The Prince of Compton’,” explains Lil Eazy-E.

“Prince of Compton” brings West Coast rap back with a vengeance, merging the flavor of N.W.A on songs such as “Money and Power” and “They Killed You,” and mixing things up with “This Ain’t a Game” featuring Bone Thugs, which takes listeners back to the Ruthless days. Lil Eazy-E also pays homage to one of his childhood hero’s Ice Cube on “Shotgun” which was inspired by the street classic “Today Was a Good Day.”

“Ice Cube was a huge influence on my record. Knowing him as a kid and then working with him as a man was a great learning experience,” said Lil Eazy-E.

With a phenomenal debut album, budding record company and fledgling roster of talented rappers, Lil Eazy-E is poised to become the next West Coast Rap Kingpin, just as his father did nearly 20 years ago."

A little more about the history of my love affair with music: toward the end of high school in the e

A little more about the history of my love affair with music: toward the end of high school in the early 90s, Hair Metal was breathing its dying breath and Grunge was bursting on the scene. I hated it. A friend of mine was a big Nirvana fan.....I hated them. Some other friends were listening to Pearl Jam.....I hated them. Even before that, Hair Metal had begun to change and I found my attention turning more toward R&B and Rap.

I had actually been a fan of Rap since I first heard "the Show" by Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew. I was a really big fan of Run-DMC. Around the time I was losing interest in Hair Metal, I walked into a record store and saw a cassette single (a cassingle) for "Eazy Duz It" by a guy called Eazy-E. I bought it, listened to it, loved it, and wore it out. I found out Eazy was a member of a group called N.W.A so I bought their album "Straight Outta Compton" and was blown away. From there I went on to listen to all kinds of Rap music until the days shortly after when everyone in Rap seemed to be trying to imitate N.W.A or to one-up them. The music in Rap seemed to change and the lyrical style evolved into something I just couldn't get into anymore. I went off to college, discovered Alice in Chains, and have liked very little Rap since then.

Then, just the other day, I logged into Rhapsody to check out the new releases for the week. There was a new album on there by a couple of guys who seem to be bent on single-handedly bringing back Old School Rap. They are called Cool Kids and the album is called "The Bake Sale". I was completely blown away and sat and listened to the entire album at least three times in a row. It's full of the old beats I've been missing all these years and the Old School lyrical flow. Along the way, I heard references to Rob Base, the Fresh Prince, riding bicycles, eating Fruity Pebbles, Star Wars, and playing Street Fighter on the Sega. "How gangsta is that? Not gangsta at all!" If you are a fan of Old School Rap you've got to check these guys out. I'm willing to bet you won't be disappointed.

Here is the first video from the album titled "Black Mags". Anyone who used to love riding their BMX will know from the title exactly what it's about.

And here's an "unofficial video" for another great song called "A Little Bit Cooler".

Some interesting facts about Ice Cube’s Classic album Amerikkka’s Most Wanted were broug

Some interesting facts about Ice Cube's Classic album Amerikkka's Most Wanted were brought up in this interview by Dubcnn.com

Sir Jinx:

I keep that around me like that. Whenever I’m making a record it’s going to come from a few different angles. I’m going to study them angles in order for you to get that feel, because we don’t know how to write music. The only thing we know how to do is steal it. So at the point of knowing how to reformat that kind of environment, you can tell a little of the Ice Cube record because it’s political. The Ice Cube record was tow records: it was Chuck D and Eazy-E mixed together. That was Amerikkka’s Most Wanted. A lot of them songs on Amerikkka's Most Wanted were written for Eazy-E.

Dubcnn: I didn’t know that.

Every place where Cube said, ‘little boys and girls/they all love me/ come sit on the lap/of I-C-E’ that was Eazy-E at first. When they broke up, he shook them. He wanted to put the records out so fast before Eric could put them out. Once Upon A Time was an Eazy track, Get Off My Dick And Tell Yo Bitch To Come Here was an Eazy track, Gangsta’s Fairytale, and a few more were Eazy tracks. The later songs like The Bomb, Endangered Species came and those songs were made closer to the time we released the record. But, a lot of them songs were written already, that’s why we could do the record in 2 months, February to March. The record came out in April.
Thank's, teletomble posting it on the Forum
