But do you?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally I've beginning to be treated like a person...people are talking to me. I'm a lil surprised at the change but I try to chat wif them. My dept senior is an Aquarius lol! We get along fine...fierce looking faces when we work, but we are nice people ok? :) And for the best part of the day....MY GOD WE HAVE EYE CANDY! For the past 2 days I tot I'm gonna be a monk la...there's no decent looking chinese girl around...but today...Melissa made my day. A petite girl who is utterly delectable and serious in her work...but the 1st thing she said to me...was a grounding statement :"Why did you come to this shithole? "

Lol! I love her already...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tired and reflecting upon the job...it seems like a long grueling road. The hours are long (esp on shipment days) and the days before shipment seem to be hell too if u r working the afternoon shift. I'm gonna take 1 step at a time and decide how things should go after I've been dealt the full shit. You can't say its smelly until you smelled it baby~

May it bless you on this day as we acknowledge that every day, every action, and everything we do should be and act of worship to the one who created us!

Worship -- the unfettered expressions of the human heart -- it is a joyful experience!

We are zealous in our desire and effort to guard against any hidrance which dampen or t

hwart it. we resist any tendency toward a stiff, staid formality in our services. we are determined to retain our God- given liberty of worship! Woship, in order to be what true worship is meant to be, has some divine prerequisites. In the individual heart there can

be no true worship if things are not right. Things must be right between the worshiper

and God. There can be no ill will, animosity, or belligerence in teh heart of one who

would experience true worship. These things block the flow of worship. Strange as it

may seem, the very determination to keep our worship free and flowing can become a hindrance. There are times when the minister leading the service follows God in a path

that seems to be in opposition to a particular for of worship. This may go beyond a

single service. In such as situation, the uminitiated novice may feel contempt toward

the leader. It appears that his priviledge of worship is being denied by such leadership.

Such a lack of understanding can Create and attitude which does more harm to one's

ability to worship than any apparent restraint ever could. Such an attitude begets

criticism, back-biting, and finally, if unchecked, becomes a subtle form of rebellion,

which teh scripture declres to be equivalent to the sinof witchcraft. Attempting to

worship when any form of sin is dominant in one's life is more thatn jsut an exercise

in futuily; it is an overt act of disdain fro the very Deity the 'worship' is directed toward.

He knows the very secrets of the heart! An appeal for cleansing, followed by acts of restitution will open the way to full unfettered worship. Obviously in our zela to protect

and preserve our priviledge of worship, we must take care to keep our hearts clear and

clean. The danger of losing our priviledge ot worship in that are ais far great than the

threat of being hindered from without our being. Our worship is too precious to allow

even teh slightest fly in the ointment. Attitudes project one's expressions of praise and adoration. Our hallelujahs will go no higher thatn the propellant power of purity in our

lives will project them. So, as we preserve and protect our expression of worship from 'external forces,' let us take care to avoid the pitfall of losing by default the very things

we would protect! Attitude is the key. Submission and worship go hand in hand. The

human will can only be broken by the individual himself. As we submit to God's

structured body, we find a liberty of worship wich enhances the expression of our

hearts.

Worship is a joyful experience!

Have a great day!

Problem:
Since it is not possible to span string variables across mutliple lines in javascript, occa

Problem:

Since it is not possible to span string variables across mutliple lines in javascript, occasionally it may pose a threat if you try and pass such a string (containing '\r' - carriage return) to a js method. For example, if the variable 'address' equals...

"fooAddressStreet,
fooAddressCity,
fooAddressCountry";

... trying to do the following will throw an error message....

javascript: fooMethod('${address}');

Solution 1:

Firstly it is possible to just put everything on one line, using the appropriate special characters in place, for example...

"fooAddressStreet, \nfooAddressCity, \nfooAddressCountry"

Solution 2:

Occasionally it may not be possible to do the above, in which case a second solution is required. There are two parts to this :-

1) convert all the '\n' & '\r' characters to some other temporary sequence (so it is treated like one line with all the new lines missing) and pass it to the javascript method desired.

2) Once successfully received by the method, you may re convert all those characters within the js method and use as normal once again.

So for step 1, please note that trying to do the conversion using the jstl 'fn:replace' won't work, as the method is not capable of understanding any regular expressions. So something like...

fn:replace( addressWithNewLineCharacters, "\\n", "<br>" )

... won't work ! Nonetheless, you may use java instead....

// 'oldChars' will be replaced by 'newChars'
address.replaceAll("oldChars","newChars");

// where <n> & <r> are made up
address.replaceAll("\\n","<n>").replaceAll("\\r","<r>");

... Also please note, that <n> & <r> may be anything else, and are used here just to remember the original positions of the '\n' & '\r' characters.

For part 2, assuming you have successfully managed to pass the original string to the js method, simply reconvert those characters back to how they were and use. For example...

function fooMethod( address ) {
    address = address.replace( new RegExp(/<n>/g), "\n");
    address = address.replace( new RegExp(/<r>/g), "\r");
    ... // using the multiple-lined address as desired
}

I hope that was clear enough. If you have any questions (or comments for that matter), please feel free to drop by.

Wa Allahu A'lam.

I had an interesting chat with Roberta’s cousin Samuel this afternoon about the size of books

I had an interesting chat with Roberta's cousin Samuel this afternoon about the size of books here in Brasil after they have been translated into Brasilian Portugues. It's very strange that books that have 700+ pages in English only have 500+ when translated into Portugues and we were talking about why this is. I think the main reason for this can be found in film subtitles here in Brasil as they are generally very bad and translated into sometimes what I would call baby-talk. Marshmallow from Sao Paulo are one of the worst companies I've ever seem when it comes to translating films here. Whole words are mis-translated and sometimes whole sentences of speech - usually from what looks like a lack of attention when the translators listen to the movie soundtrack. I have to confess I never read books in Portugues only in English and I encourage my students to watch or read on English too. Also it seems that translators here in Brasil seem to think that Brazilians need everything translated very simply, sometimes using baby language to translate from English into Portugues, a 200 page difference in a book i think everyone would have to admit is a lot of words. I know some English expressions get shortened down in Portugues to one or two words but from what my English students have told me this shrinking usually changes the meaning of the phrases or expressions completely, its very weird. I always recommend to my advanced students that they read or watch in English and just ask me to explain what they don't understand instead of relying on sometimes dreadful Portugues translations.

Happiness and harmony
are balanced
on delicate scales
that get disrupted
by the slightest stroke,
or a gentle jolt,
giving rise to
tornadoes of emotions
and volcanoes of feelings

But why?

Because, the devil that resides in us
as our EGO
is the enemy of our LOVE

It poses as
false self-importance
and pseudo pride
looking for
our precious package
So,
whenever there is fervour,
the devil produces frostiness
whenever there is accord,
the devil stimulates discord
whenever there is ecstasy,
the devil perpetuates agony

Then,
anger fuses with irritation
and intolerance with impatience,
making a mixture of menacing madness

feeding our foolish fears
and provoking pessimism

Until our prayers

…Even though my pain has not fully disappeared I can see that my pain is much less than it was

...Even though my pain has not fully disappeared I can see that my pain is much less than it was a few days ago.

I know that a lot of prayer went into this recovery; and yet, at the same time, I know that I went to a doctor who gave me some medicine after which I have been feeling better.

Now the obvious question is what healed me; or who healed me?

My own answer is that God worked through medicine to heal me. That may sound like a cop-out, but I assure you that it is not.

God's works in this world are not outside the realm of his own creation. Even if we were to look at God's great miracles in Bible, we will see that God used the natural processes of the world to show his power over the natural processes. The best example of this I think is when Jesus walked on water, recorded in the Gospels. Jesus defyed the laws of gravity and boyancy by walking on water. But he was still consistent to the laws of time and distance (physics). Which is to say that while Jesus broke one or two laws in his miraculous act, he was still faithful to at least two other laws. Jesus could have magically a appeared on the boat. But instead, he chose to walk from land to the boat (the law of distance) and that walking took time (again the law of time). Jesus could have broken all laws entirely, and yet, to be understood by weak environmentally conditioned humans, he choose to display his power over matter, but breaking only a few rules of matter. Hence we are able to say "he walked" rather than something beyond our capacity to even comprehend!

My point is that God uses his creation to communicate to us: he does not bypass creation. In fact, let me say that God does not speak to us outside creation. Everything that God has said to us is said in ways that we can understand; in language, in thought, in philosophy, in books, in events, in people etc.

Back to the theology of pain, I know that if God chose to heal me, he would do it within the processes of the world. Even if God healed me without medicine, his healing would still be within the laws of biology, physics and/or chemistry. In my current case, I was having a bacterial infection and was messing up with my chemical balance that could worse come to worse poison my blood. God healed (is healing me) while removing the bacterial infection (which is a very biological thing for God to do) and restoring the balance (the chemistry). Whether with medicine or not, the healing is healing because it makes sense within the laws of humanity/creation. If for instance my healing led to the formation of an entirely strange angelic existence... it would not make sense to me or to others. But this seemingly natural healing... that is consistent with the laws of nature... is still within and outside the laws of nature... (according to my faith)... because God was involved in my case. (I don't want to get into whether GOd is involved or not involved with other people in pain right here. That would distract from the fundamental point I'm making here... which I believe).

My point is that God healing through medicine is not any less miraculous than God healing without medicine. The fact that God heals is the miracle... the means he uses to accomplish that miracle is transient; changing.

As my theological verbosity has increased, it is obvious that I'm getting better. But that doesnt mean that I'm fully healed. I'm not fully out of danger... and I need to continue with my medication.

Yet I continue with my prayer... and thanksgiving because I 'believe' (I have faith) that God is involved in the larger process of creation and restoration.

ps. for those who only see the scientific reasoning and think I'm deluded... well, that's your perogative... and perhaps you will agree that it is "foolish". For those who know that we can actually see this through faith, welcome to the world where the blind are given sight!

Today's post is inspired by a TV ad for Havell's cables. The premise is simple. A mother (the lady in the picture) is making rotis for her eight-year old who's studying by the light of a street-lamp. He watches quietly for a while as she keeps getting burnt while picking the rotis out of the fire. Finally he walks off (to her surprise), finds a length of Havell's cable and returns with a pair of tongs made out of the wire for her so she doesn't get burnt.

This is a still of the mother looking at her son after he hands her the tongs. The expression on her face simply defies description. There is gratitude for the tongs, unmistakable pride and, a wistful acknowledgement of the painful fact that she and her son, though drawn closer through his act of concern and kindness, are also drifting apart in subtle ways because of it. It is her struggle to feed him while he sits with a book (that is incomprehensible to her) that, ironically, is pushing him irrevocably towards a future and a world of which she knows nothing and cannot be a part.

Even through the frequent arguments and disagreements that are so silly that we laugh about it while making up, even when I feel down and his hectic schedule makes me feel as though I no longer have an important place in his heart, I love him.. :) No particular reason that I can pinpoint.. but yet.. he' there and I love him...

All he has to do is take my hands in his, call my name softly and look at me.. and say that he loves me.. Im lost.. I am so totally lost at that moment.. All my barriers.. all my anger.. all my fears, sorrows, worries... everything melts away into vaccuum!!! The only truth I feel at that moment and what I know is true is the vast and deep endless ocean of love that he has just for me :) and I know that is enough for ever...

Today's Phoenix win over the Spurs is Suns first win in 08 playoff. This win also stop the Suns from being swept by their rival Spurs. The Suns basically lead thru out the game. Bell's started the game with 7 straight point and they never looked back. Stories on the net right now is how good Diaw and Bell played today, which I agreed. I guess I am more focus on what they can do to the next game. Skills wise, there is nothing much they can do. Running plays is the key point for the next game. If Oneal and Stoudiamare can start picking up their pick and roll defense then I think Suns win is doable. But mentality will be the major factor to the remaining games of this series. Simple leadership books can tell you that focus is the key. Always make sure the team is focus and committed to reaching the goal, winning the champ. Hopefully this is not hard to do as they just have to do it for 48 mins * 3 games so it is less then 3 hours of focus. Get with it people.

OK, let me put myself into Mike, coach of the Suns, and see what strategies I can come up with to ease up Sun's 2nd win in the playoff. I would start off very strong with pick and roll plays with Diaw and Hill. With Oneal and Stoudairme pulling the inside defenders, Diaw and Hill should be able to take the advantage of the smaller players and start pounding. If the big defenders help then have the Oneal and Stoudaimare to run some inside cuts. With what the Suns did today of having Oneal started strong in Q1, Spurs would need to put some bigger and focus more on him. However, Suns cannot run plays with Stoudamaire as he has been proven as a scorer. Gotta attack the Spurs with something unexpected. Set the temple early. This is what playoff is all about, let your bench and 2nd line to attack. All teams know will put the best defensive players on the best offensive players. Surprise them with atttacking their weakest spots. This is what playoff is all about.
