fällt Euch denn nichts Neues mehr ein, dass Ihr 2008 Modelle auf die Laufstege schickt, die Klamotten von vor 40 Jahren tragen? Entschuldigt, die Kleidung ist natürlich schon neu, aber die Schnitte - hm ... ?

Gaspard Yurkievich! Der Mann ist so unbekannt, dass nicht mal die Wikipedia ihm einen Artikel widmet.

Seine neue Kollektion 2009, die der in Paris lebende Designer vorstellte, ist dafür umso interessanter: Klare Linien und durchdachte Schnitte. Die Inspiration für seine Serie fand er in der "Art Deco"-Bewegung der 1920er Jahre.

Hoffentlich gibt es bald mehr zu hören sehen von Herrn Yurkievich.

Jeder trägt sie, mancher zeigt sie, niemand spricht darüber: Unsere Unterwäsche.
Nun, fast niemand, denn Renate Maurer widmet sich in ihrem Feature "Down under" fast eine Stunde lang diesem Thema, zeigt den Wandel, den dieses Wäschestück in den letzten Jahren erfahren hat. Wie die weisse Wäsche ihre Farben gefunden hat, wie sich die "Panzerung" der Frau zu koketteten Dessous reduziert und wie entgegengesetzt bei den Männern die Stoffmenge anwächst - vom Stringtanga zur Boxershort. Oder was es mit dem Namen "Bruno Banani" auf sich hat.

Wer diese unterhaltsame Reise im Deutschlandfunk verpasst hat, sollte sich an den Hörerservice wenden. Für private Zwecke kann ein Sendemanuskript angefordert werden.

Waren das noch Zeiten. Da galten Frauen in Rüschenröcken, die ihre Beine hochgewarfen und sich die Abende und Nächte in farbigen Mühlen um die Ohren geschlagen haben, als anrüchig.

Aber die Zeiten ändern sich: Heute packen junge Muttis ihre jungen Töchter in Kleidchen und Röckchen mit nimmer endendwollenden Rüschen.

Da kommen einem dann komische Dinge in den Sinn: "Ich bin jemand, vor denen mich meine Eltern immer gewarnt haben".

Kann das nicht jemand mal als Stickdatei anbieten - aber in einer schönen, schnörkeligen Schriftart bitte? Danke.

I never got the chance to change my wallpaper since I think mine is fierce!

Hot Cars and Hot Girls! What else would you ask for? Photos like this makes me want to be a photographer and a graphic artist. That's my ultimate dream! I am planning to pursue someday though, but I would need more money and time to pursue that. I wanted to work for a fashion magazine or an ad agency.

Anyways, the girls are Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Natalia Vodianoza, Eva Herziqova and Angella Lindvall. They are modeling for Spring/Summer 2008 collection of Louis Vuitton.

Spring has Sprung?

It sure felt like it in Vancouver on Sunday, didn't it? I actually saw sailboats out on English Bay ....they aren't doing that in Regina or Calgary or Toronto this weekend. I was in Red Deer earlier in the week (don't ask) and there was, yes I saw it right, drifting snow across the highway - and snowplows. Gives me shivers just thinking about it! I always forget the rest of Canada is actually cold (frigid more like this year) in February. Yikes.....

Anyway....the temp is heading up to 10 degrees Celsius on Monday! OMG....that is DOUBLE DIGITS! That's enough to make me want to pack up my 15 pairs of black boots and dust off my summer-shoe-storage bin....open toes are just around the corner, are they not? Bare legs with skirts! No gloves or scarves! I can hardly wait....! I am sure there is more winter yet to come, but the idea of the spring wardrobe is such a delicious day dream. Yes, the winter sales are phenomenal right now but the spring clothes are slowly filling up the racks! Great colors are coming - don't worry, I will keep you in the loop - stay tuned....

I get an email newsletter called JC Report, and here's what they had to say about shoes:
"The ongoing success of the sky-high platform, an authentic mainstay over the last few seasons, is a case in point. Assertive and dramatic, platforms marry bold design, attention-grabbing appearance, and show-stopping absurdity all in one sturdy piece. While they may be highly impractical, they definitely make a statement. They're to the silhouette what an exclamation mark is to a sentence. Can anyone walk in them? Hardly. Nevertheless, they work visual wonders, and in this hyper-fast era of the all-encompassing image, that's all that counts."
Does anyone else agree that this sounds ridiculous? I had a perfectly wonderful spree at the one Naturalizer store in Manhattan last Friday. Bought a pair each of sandals (black, flat, strappy and with a suede footbed--very comfy) and pumps (pointy-toe style but with a modest kitten heel and tan leather "basketweave" pattern--good neutral shoe for the office with suits) and ordered the sandals in brown, which they didn't have in the store. Very busy place but one of the few stores that carries my width (Narrow) with any consistency. I would order online but their sizes vary with the styles--sometimes a Medium width fits me--so a physical try-on is requisite.
Shoe companies, take note: because Naturalizer took the trouble to mail me a brochure, I was able to see their offerings for Spring and get an idea of whether it would be worth my time to check out the store, which is usually understaffed, so I have to budget at least 45 mins. there for my hunt. And the 20% off coupon at the back didn't hurt, either. I got 3 pairs of shoes for what I might pay for 1 pair somewhere else. Sure, lots of department stores send me catalogues, but most of the shoes they feature are impractical and pricey. And poring through Web pages is pointless--most of the photos are so small I can't see the styles.
