So how did we do?

We got the front row correct, albeit in the wrong order as Lewis Hamilton beat Felipe Massa for pole.

Our prediction of the second row was spot on, with Heikki Kovalainen outqualifying Kimi Raikkonen.

The third row saw Nick Heidfeld qualify 5th (we thought it would be Jarno Trulli), but we were correct in Fernando Alonso qualifying 6th.

We also got the fourth row correct, unfortunately in the wrong order, as Mark Webber took 7th, and Robert Kubica grabbed 8th.

The fifth row was a surprise STR-Ferrari lockout, as Sebastian Bourdais (9th) outqualified his teammate Sebastian Vettel (10th). We thought it would be Nick Heidfeld in 9th and Timo Glock in 10th.

We thought that Jenson Button (Honda), Nelson Piquet Jnr. (Renault), David Coulthard (Red Bull-Renault), Sebastian Vettel (STR-Ferrari), and Nico Rosberg (Williams-Toyota) would drop out in second qualifying period, however we were only correct with Piquet, Coulthard, and Rosberg. Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock, also, did not make the top-ten shootout.

Finally, we thought the first to go would be Adrian Sutil (Force India), Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India), Kazuki Nakajima (Williams-Toyota), Sebastian Bourdais (STR-Ferrari), Rubens Barrichello (Honda). Swap the surprising Bourdais for Jenson Button, and we would have been spot-on.

Neal's View: All in all, we predicted the grid quite accurately. Qualifying was not what you could call wet, so surprises should have been few and far between. Did anyone predict Sebastian Bourdais getting into the final session?

The Brit edged out Brazilian Felipe Massa to the top spot in Q3.  Kimi Raikkonen looked set to get 3rd place, putting the Scuderia in a strong position but Heikki Kovalainen who had a very strong set of sessions broke the 2 cars up.

Nick Heidfeld looked amazingly back on form, pushing his BMW Sauber into 5th, ahead of Spaniard Fernando Alonso.  Heidfeld's team mate Kubica slumped down into 8th.

He was followed by the 2 Scuderia Toro Rosso's, who had a stellar session.  9th place man Bourdais looked revitalised as he flung the STR around the Spa circuit, getting the fastest time of anyone in Q1.  Sebastian Vettel, 10th, claimed he was very heavily filled for tomorrow, and might stretch it to 1 stop if it rains.

Further down field the 2 Honda's didn't get out of Q1, both looking exceedingly poor.  Adrian Sutil will be very disappointed as he was clear into Q2, but some great times from other drivers just nudged him out.  He looked on fire around the track, flinging the VJM01 around; well clear of Nakajima and Fisichella who are propping up the times.

Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap after a wet and slightly chaotic Friday practice two and Spa. The Spanaird took top place away from the earlier pace-setter, Felipe Massa, at the end of the session, by lapping 0.1 second faster.

Mark Webber was caught out in the rush to get back to the pits when the rain arrived, putting his Red Bull in the wall and the session ended with Webber in last. The teams sent their drivers back out after around half an hour later but the track remained slippery and Kimi Raikkonen, Giancarlo Fisichella and Nelson Piquet Jr all ended up in the wall at turn 9. The Red Flags came out and the wait was back on for drying condtions. Times did drop though, and Heikki Kovalainen looked good towards the end of the session, 0.1 seconds ahead of his teammate.

Nico Rosberg and Adrain Suitl finished high in sixth and eight and Toro Rosso continued to fly. BMW continued to struggle whilst Toyota had
