Unlike many blogs in existence, this blog will try to stray away from the things that make people un-interested in other blogs.  This blog will focus on things that people are afraid to talk to their friends about without being called a nerd, mainly anime, movies, television, comics (marvel mostly), and video games. I will attempt to update my blog once a week.

No, I am not a nerd.

We need to reach the base. We made this bug that racks our lungs, slows us down. And we made the blue dogs. They wait out there, red eyes, blue soft claws. Just past the reach of our last guns, they wait for those who cough and can't keep up.

There's an itch in my throat.

Bonus if you can uncover my formalism.

You think I'm kidding?

You thought all this time that Gary Gygax invented Dungeons and Dragons?

You would be mistaken! Gary was doing archeology one summer in Egypt and dug up some dice in a leather bag, including a 20-sider, and found a stone carved with hieroglyphics near by. He and some of the guys stayed up late translating the inscription on the stone and found that one side of the stone was directions of r a game that used dice, and the other had the start of a story about a guy named Conan who was fighting in a colloseum against 3 lions. So for the next 3 weeks they stayed up until 2 or 3 every morning playing this game. Eventually the crew boss caught on that they weren't translating anything new, so he gave them an ultimatum: either get with the program or go home. Gary decided to go home, and on the plane he wrote out what he remembered from the inscriptions. When he got home he enrolled several of this buddies to do some research one weekend, after which he had the basics for the game, the monsters, what kinds of dice to use for which weapons, hit probabilities using the 20-sider, and how critical hits and fumbles worked with the 20 and 00 sides. The rest is history. Well, I guess the start was history. But Gary got the credit for the find, but not the way most people think he did, and not the find of that table in Egypt.

But Gary's gone now, so we'll never know exactly how the details got worked out.

The other guys he was playing with? They were working in a tomb one day when their battery died. Only one made it out, though on the way out he smashed the top of his head on a stone, rendering it completely flat; he said that the rest were eaten by a Grue, though there was never any evidence that they had been in the cave despite the crew boss's record that that was their assigned work area for the day.

However, we do have 20-siders from Egypt and Rome, so we know that part is true.

Aux baroudeurs en manque d'expérience insolite et aux globe-trotters las du luxe des palaces, le Dasparkholtel de LInz offre une solution réellement amusante et hors du commun, des chambres tubulaires en ciment qui offrent un confort minimal mais suffisant; la lucarne, ouverte au dessus du lit sur un ciel étoilé, ajoute une touche de romantisme à cette matière brute. Understanding Divine Knowledge from God--Part One

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

This verse begins with the word "for" which is translated from the Greek word hoti. One of the other English words for this Greek word is "because”.  Because God performed a certain divine act in the life of the believer, there was a manifested change in the mind of the believer.  The manifested change came in the form of divine revelation knowledge concerning the glory (doxa) of God.  Because God infused, (breathed into the spirit) of the believer, this came about.  This is the working of regeneration as a part of the salvation plan of God.  This regenerative act is a part of 2 Corinthians 5:17  speaks of the "newness" the believer. What was old has passed away, and replaced with all things new.  Our minds have been renewed through this divine act (Romans 12:2).  We have been made alive by God's Spirit.  Old things--concepts and perceptions have been replaced with fresh spiritual enlightenment. This spiritual enlightenment is an ongoing process in the life of the believer. This renewal process began at the moment we accepted salvation.  Now we are responsible to walk in the light as He is in the light on daily basis.  This will help us to learn the new spiritual knowledge of Him through our growing relationship with Him. 

The action God performed came through a commandment.  The word "command" comes from the Greek word epo, which finds its root in a primary verb, which is used, only in the definite past tense.  The other tenses of this word are borrowed from the Greek word ereo which is translated into English as say 57 times, speak 7 times, tell 4 times and speak of 2 times for a total of 71 times in the King James Version.  It means to utter, to speak, or say.  The other alternate form of epo is rheo, which can be understood as a pouring forth.  In this divine act of God, He poured forth into the new life of the redeemed the knowledge of His glory. 

God broke the silence that had existed for 400 years.  All man had to go on was the laws and commandments that had been received by Moses on Mount Sinai.  Since then, many more man-made laws had been added making the total number of laws 613.  To break one of these laws was to break the whole law.  These inconsistencies were among the many things that Jesus pointed out to his disciples. It was time for humanity to hear and receive the revealed Truth of the One True living God.  It was time for them to come to the knowledge of truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ--God's only begotten Son.  It was time to set the record straight.  It was time for humanity to get the true description of Who He was, and the love He had in His heart for them.

Since we have been given this knowledge, it should be understood that no man could successfully preach and be of much good if they do not have a working relationship with the Lord and His Written Word.  The individual mind cannot vacillate and hesitate concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ nor did the life that must lead.  When the mind is filled with doubts, there is no faith.  When there is timidity in doing the work of the Lord, then the boldness that is promised has not been received.  The individual who declares what he has no acquaintance with the Lord cannot be effective.  If there is no deep-felt conviction concerning the words written in the Bible, then how can this individual be effective for the kingdom of heaven?  There is a lack of understanding concerning what the individual affirms.  How can they stand by something that they do not understand? 

What then should be the standard by which to measure the effectiveness of a person's words concerning Jesus and His gospel?  This lesson teaches that there must be God-given spiritual enlightenment.  The individual must be God-breathed upon in order to receive the right illumination.  There are illuminations that have their source in the rulers of darkness, and then there is the true Illuminator who shines through to the heart causing a change.  There must be a relationship developed through personal interaction and experience with Jesus Christ.

Nous voyons ici, du côté de Montréal, une partie des piliers qui supporteront le viaduc ferroviaire du CN. Pour construire l'autre partie, il faudra creuser à même le boulevard L.-H.-Lafontaine actuel. À voir la largeur des assises, le viaduc devrait permettre le passage de deux voies ferrées distinctes.

Vue du viaduc temporaire du chemin de fer du CN, la tranchée qui fut creusée, et au fond de laquelle passera temporairement le boulevard L.-H.-Lafontaine, pendant que l'on creusera l'autre côté, afin de compléter le viaduc.

Cette fois depuis le début de la tranchée, nous voyons les piliers complétés, et le viaduc temporaire du CN.

L'autre côté du boulevard temporaire, là où il se raccorde au boulevard actuel, soit entre le boulevard Perras et la rue Arthur-Léveillé. Selon ce que j'ai vu, le lien avec cette dernière rue sera maintenu, pour l'instant.

Transportons-nous maintenant à l'intersection du boulevard Perras. L'emprise de l'A-25 a été complètement déboisée avant le début de la période d'interdiction, décrétée par le MTQ, période pendant laquelle les opérations forestières sont interdites afin de protéger la faune.

Au loin, les grues qui sont installées sur le site d'un pilier du pont, près du boulevard Lévesque, à Laval. Vue depuis le boulevard Perras, à Montréal.

Le déboisement complété, cette fois au niveau du boulevard Gouin.

La machinerie au repos, et les arbres abattus, prêts à être chargés.

Une autre vue du chantier du pilier de Laval, cette fois vu d'un peu plus près, soit depuis le boulevard Gouin.

Un peu partout, tout autour du chantier, vous verrez ce genre d'affiche, qui signale clairement que l'accès au chantier est interdit. Celle-ci, toutefois, située sur le boulevard Gouin, a reçu quelques ajouts. Voyons cela de plus près...

Il s'agit de dessins d'enfants, qui ont été ajoutés sur l'affiche d'accès interdit. Il y a même les initiales des "artistes" qui font passer leurs messages, eux aussi de façon claire. Quoique dans le cas de celui-ci, c'est un peu bizarre, comme message.

Ce message-là, par contre, est on ne peut plus clair. Pour ma part, quand je regarde ces deux dessins, je doute fort que ce soit les enfants eux-mêmes qui aient pris de telles initiatives. Il y a sûrement des adultes "bien intentionnés" qui leur ont mis ces idées dans la tête, et qui n'ont, bien sûr, pas donné tous les détails.

Du côté de Laval, cette fois, sur le site du chantier du premier pilier à se trouver dans le lit de la rivière des Prairies, les affiches sont beaucoup plus sérieuses. La compagnie Kiewit-Parsons, membre du consortium Concession A25, prend très au sérieux la qualité de ses travaux, du moins si l'on en juge les diverses affiches posées sur les installations de la compagnie.

Celle-là est plutôt évidente.

Je me souviens avoir vu une bannière comme celle-ci sur un autre chantier de Kiewit. C'était lors de la reconstruction d'un viaduc, sur l'A-10, en Montérégie.

Depuis la piste cyclable - légèrement détournée - du boulevard Lévesque, à Laval, on voit bien la jetée de pierre qui fut aménagée afin de construire le premier pilier du lit de la rivière des Prairies. Malgré que cette photo ait été prise un samedi, on voit plusieurs travailleurs sur le chantier.

Voici l'affiche que l'on peut voir lorsque l'on arrive à la hauteur du chantier, sur le boulevard Lévesque, peu avant l'intersection du boulevard Roger-Lortie.

À travers les arbres, cette fois, une autre vue du chantier du pilier.

Cette semaine, j'ai écrit au consortium Concession A25 afin d'obtenir certains droits de visite du chantier, à des moments devant être établis à l'avance, le tout dans le but de vous montrer les derniers développements de ces travaux d'envergure. J'attends une réponse de leur part au courant de la semaine prochaine, ceux-ci affirmant répondre aux requêtes dans les deux jours ouvrables suivants. Évidemment, je ne m'attends pas à une "passe illimitée", parce que la sécurité est très importante sur ces lieux, comme sur tous les chantiers, d'ailleurs, mais j'aimerais bien voir le consortium faire preuve d'une certaine ouverture face à ma demande. L'avenir nous le dira.

Le site web de Concession A25 contient beaucoup de renseignements, entre autres sur le système de péage qui sera appliqué, ainsi que l'échéancier des travaux. Une visite de ce site s'impose à tous ceux qui s'intéressent à ce futur pont.
