It’s about time! Bill Clinton finally made his first campaign appearance for Obama in Florida on W

It’s about time! Bill Clinton finally made his first campaign appearance for Obama in Florida on Wednesday. However, with just 5 weeks before election day, this timing might be a little too late for the Obama campaign. While Senator Hilary Clinton has already participated in over 40 campaign appearances in support of Senator Obama, Bill Clinton’s supposed ambivalent gestures may indicate a lack of confidence in Obama or reveal his bitterness towards his wife’s loss (or a combination of the both). It seems peculiar for a former president to start supporting the candidate of the same party this late in the election. Additionally, in interviews, President Bill Clinton has avoided criticizing John McCain and this left Americans wondering whether or not there will be a burst of support for Senator Obama.

In my opinion, it would seem that Bill Clinton has finally started the work that should have been done months ago but I guess it takes time to heal. His stirring speech will hopefully solidify support for Obama and perhaps sway Clinton supporters from crossing party lines. Here is an excerpt from the speech which encapsulates what should be the overall tone of Bill Clinton’s upcoming speeches:

“I think you know when you vote for Barack Obama you’re not just voting for him,” Clinton told the crowd. “You’re voting for yourselves, your dreams, the children you have or you hope to have, and everything you want America to be in the 21st century. You’re voting to make us a better partner with the rest of the world in a world where we have more partners and fewer adversaries.”

Click HERE for the full transcript and HERE for a clip of the speech

And just for fun, the formerly ambiguous attitude that Bill Clinton was perceived of having caught on and was parodied by SNL so enjoy the CLIP!

Has anyone noticed that Bill Clinton has waining support for Obama. I am totally convinced that Bubba and Hill have eyes firmly set on 2012 and I am sure that they are voting Republican in November. I cannot believe they will go softly into the night. The Clintons are way to power hungry for that. GO Bubba. Watch him closely and listen to what he says. Hell, I am so stressed about the fact that SNOBAMA could actually be crowned king... I mean messiah that I will take any votes that we can. Mc Cain Palin 08

A friend of mine sent me these along with the following comments. God bless his sense of humor:

I thought reality had become so bizarre that cartoonist would be out of job: I thought they could not exaggerate human folly beyond reality, but I was wrong... I really admire how such people get the essence of the absurdity and manage to draw that with a few lines. I still feel that we should shift from democracy to cartoonocracy: the cartoonist clearly will be better in governing the world than the politicians.

Glass ceiling reaches new high (or low):

Jack Cafferty unloaded on Sarah Palin's disastrous interview with Katie Couric Friday afternoon on CNN, telling Wolf Blitzer, "There's a reason the McCain campaign keeps Governor Palin away from the press." After showing a clip of Palin stumbling over Couric's question about the bailout and offering an answer connecting the bailout to healthcare, Cafferty asked, "Did you get that?" He warned the viewers: "If John McCain wins this woman will be one 72-year-old's heartbeat away from being President of the United States. And if that doesn't scare the hell out of you, it should."

McCain, de republikein, bleef hij 'the old warrior' noemen.

Sixteen days and twenty pounds of coffee later... the house is ours again. It feels strangely quiet. It feels much larger. We are down to nine in number, and all fit around the table. The last three meals have consisted of mac and cheese(homemade, courtesy of Alex), leftovers, and Campbell’s tomato soup.

Our last guests to leave were Nick and Hilary, a middle-aged couple who live on a small farm in central England, along with Ingela and several other girls, two of whom were here as well. Hilary raises lambs, gardens, and seems to be the one who takes care of the rest of the group. The UK crowd ate their oatmeal on a plate with sugar - no milk, called beets “beetroot”, and were astounded to hear that we could cut down trees and build a fence, if we wanted to. In England, you have to have a permit to cut down a tree even on your own land. Hilary and I talked about gardening, cooking, and lambs, and she gave me the nicest hug anyone has given me in a long time when she left.

Both Vicki and Katie, the girls from England, assisted Ingela teaching classes. When I went out to the field to catch some action the last afternoon of the camp, it was Vicki who walked up to me holding the bridle of a horse. “Here you are,” she said, passing the bridle to me and handing me a long stick attached to a longer piece of rope - my training tool. I’ve ridden a horse maybe three times in my life, and here I am, face-to-face with a horse of my own.

Mr. Parelli, who pioneered the “Parelli Method”, teaches from his home ranch outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado - less than three hours from where we lived in New Mexico. Natural Horsemanship is about training your horse to respond to body language rather than force. It requires intense concentration, as you use your energy to direct the horse. It sounds vague, but Vicki broke it down for me into little managable bits. I started by cracking my whip, or “carrotstick”, desensitizing the horse to the noise, and getting her used to me touching her all over her body. I noticed right away that Lady was pushy. She got right in my face. That made me back away, which meant she was training me. Vicki told me not to let her get in my space, my “bubble”, and to shake her bridle vigorously when this happened. This actually worked. “She’s licking her lips,” said Vicki, after I’d stood up to Lady, “that means she’s thinking about things. It’s a good sign.”

I hoped that it was a good sign, and that she was thinking hard about things when a little later, she reared up on and jerked the bridle out of my hands. We got over that, and I worked with that horse for two hours, teaching her to retreat, to turn, and to advance, with motions of my stick. At first, it required considerable prodding, but by rewarding her(releasing the pressure, or removing the thing giving her discomfort) as soon as she took a step in the right direction, she learned quickly. By the time we gathered in a horseshoe to discuss what we learned, I was quite ready to stop. Lady (the touchy-feely type, I decided), nuzzled my hair, and I felt quite affectionate towards her, like we had gotten to know each other, and gained a measure of mutual respect. It was a good feeling. And I understood why everyone was so ravenous at meals.

“We’ll get you on a horse next time,” said Vicki, when we hugged good-bye.

The sexism that has completely consumed this election (on both sides of the campaign) is comically parodied by Saturday Night Live. If nothing else maybe the mainstream media distributors can stand back and take a look at themselves in the mirror that the comedy sketch offers up.

I think this is very unique and i bet you have not seen this before. Have a look at the would-be First Lady sculpture. It's amazing that Michelle Obama have actually made herself as famous as her husband. She got a sculpture before he become the President. Well, see below for full articles about this amazing news.

The sculpture is done by artist Daniel Edwards. Here's a bit about who Daniel Edwards is.

Daniel Edwards is an American sculptor, born in La Porte, Indiana in 1965. His pieces address celebrity and popular culture in ways that have often stirred controversy. The release of the pieces is generally accompanied by press releases.

Michelle Obama has been cast in bronze! This sculpture called “Michelle Obama’s Makeover for America” is the latest work in Daniel Edwards’s “Inspire America” series which has also included sculptures of Hillary Clinton, Oprah, and Prince Harry. The unveiling of this sexy bust of the would-be First Lady is October 1st. Read more about the sculpture, see photos, and a video below.

Michelle Obama Sexy Mannequin Bust

Where do I start? Gone are the pearls around the neck, eliminating any comparisons to Jackie Kennedy. In its place is the artists’ idea of a “signature look” for Michelle Obama to take to Washington.

In place of the traditional pearl necklace worn by many of our First Ladies, is a pearl-studded Afro pick that’s shaped like an eagle, supposedly representing a fashion mix of Black African heritage and White House aspirations. The goal of artist Daniel Edwards was to highlight Michelle’s ethnicity, creating a new fashion template for the 21st Century First Lady.

“A tight, spiral-textured mane compliments Michelle Obama’s likeness, with the pearl Afro pick placed modishly askew in a Nefertiti-esque hairstyle. Included are big hoop earrings shaped like O’s that seem to suggest, according to a gallery spokesman, “Look out Oprah, a new ‘Lady O’s’ in charge.”

And then there are the breasts. The bust of Michelle Obama is adorned with temporary tattoos — note one is of a rather large American flag, to compensate for Barack’s pin-free lapels I assume. Additional breast tattoo designs for Michelle’s bust, by Chicago tattoo artist Alex Higgins, will also be on display at the Leo Kesting Gallery in New York City. Seriously.

“Michelle Obama inspires a fashion template change that many First Ladies of the 21st Century may follow, as we witness minorities in this country becoming the majority,” added the spokesman.

Other artwork by sculptor Daniel Edwards includes the following: “Oprah’s Death Mask,” “Suri Cruise Baby Poop,” and “Britney Spears Giving Birth.”

[caption id="attachment_43" align="alignnone" width="180" caption="Suri Cruise bowel movement"][/caption]

Remember, this is art and i think this art for Suri Cruise is really one of a kind. Don't you think so?

thank you!

At the DNC, Hilary Clinton gave a speech in 'support' of Barack Obama. Of course, she congratulated Biden and others new to the campaign trail; but what I found interesting was how she stayed away from talking too much about Obama. No, instead I found that she talked more about her own past and how she and her family know what is best. She even said, wrote, "... and my daughter got to vote for her mother for president." Now, after hearing that whole speech, I did not hear her speaking for Obama, I did not hear her speaking to better his cause. Instead, it sounded like another one of her campaign speeches.

It does not take an attuned ear to hear that she is not in support of Obama by her own choice. Actually, she would be foolish to be with him. The only way for her to gain the power that she has so desperately wanted since before her husband was first elected is to see Obama lose this election. If he loses, it opens the road to the presidency to her. I can see the division within the Democratic Party.

There is even an AP story covering this division. They were at the DNC of course, and they interviewed many Democrats that really don't like Obama and that they were, quote, "... we're still fighting to make Hilary Clinton to be the next nominee" The LA Times questioned some people and they wrote, quote, "...some black delegates who are pledged to Obama are unhappy -- even seething -- at what they say is weak support from the former president and first lady..." So, I am not the only one, even the liberal columnists, and writers of the quoted article, Peter Wallsten and Peter Nicholas agree that there is dissension within the ranks of the Democratic party.

So, here is the conclusion of the matter, Hilary Clinton wants the power of the presidency. She did not get nominated because this young upstart got in her way. The only way she will have another chance of sucessfully running for the office is if her rival, Obama, does not win the election. He may try again, but what little advantage he had over the Republican candidate will disappear and he will have lost the faith of the people. Because of this, we can correctly know that Hilary Clinton hopes that Obama will lose the election and his so-called faithful followers will turn to her for a guide and for leadership and for experience.

Now that Sarah Palin has been catapulted into the national spotlight, there's all this talk about her glasses.

You have to check this Saturday Night Live skit with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. It's hilarious! The Hilary look-a-like in the skit says something about her wearing her 'Tina Fey glasses'.

Even funnier, is that I've had cool glasses for years and have been told I look like Tina Fey, now Sarah Palin. They talk about Palin having this Naughty Librarian look. I prefer the 'hot for teacher' phrase.

So now I look like both of them. I'm getting this a lot, I wonder if I should start wearing my contacts. The only big difference is that they both have brown eyes and mine are blue. I even went as Tina Fey for Halloween one year, made an official SNL ID badge and everything. I suppose it would be too easy to go as Palin this year, but we'll see. It wouldn't be much of a change from my every day work look, just put the hair up , carry a shotgun and call it good.

I guess it could be worse, I could look like Hilary!

Last night, the 34th season of "SNL" debuted with guest host Michael Phelps and musical guest Lil Wayne. SNL made a very smart move last night, as they brought back in Tina Fey to play Sarah Palin for the cold open. Though, I think SNL should try not to make the show so political, it was a solid sketch along with Amy Poehler's impression of Hilary Clinton. Sadly, that was one of the only good sketches last night. The rest of the show consisted of Michael Phelps poorly delivering his lines, and Kristen Wiig carrying him through one entire sketch. Really, after last night, some sports people shouldn't do a LIVE TV show that consist of them doing comedy for an hour and a half. My favorite bit last night was actually Fred Armisen's character on Weekend Update, Nicholas Fehn. "NO! what...you can't....". Brilliant.

And look at how all these Alaskan women feel about Palin's strange rise to power.

From Mudflats (Best Blog on Alaska Politics)

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn’t honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn’t happen here.

So, if you’ve been doing the math… Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin’s rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy…Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans.

More information on the rally and the strange attempts to stop it are on DailyKos. And a lot of great photos!

What women working on domestic violence in Alaska have to say about Sarah Palin.

And women organizing, Alaska - Women Against Palin are getting threats for their views and for their efforts. One lady is clearly terrified to be on camera. A right wing radio host named Burke incited this behavior.

I remember distinctly mentioning to my dear wife about 13 weeks ago. It was one of those convers

I remember distinctly mentioning to my dear wife about 13 weeks ago. It was one of those conversations with my spouse I actually admit to remembering. It was June 7, 2008. Hilary finally conceded the Democratic nomination to Obama. And, as I watched the tube, I blurted, "If Obama picks Hilary as VP, he'll win in a landslide. It wouldn't matter what the Republicans do from here".

But someone, something got into Barack's head, and he chose Biden. And for a full-week (the week of 4-day long Democratic National Convention not to be confused with the DNC - see earlier post), Biden seemed like a good choice. A good choice until Sarah was introduced.

Now, I'm not one to speculate. I only like to make decisions based on facts. On metrics. Justifiable Ones. But I just cannot get over what to think if Obama had picked Hilary. So, I present to you...

Top 10 Reasons Why Obama Didn't Pick Clinton as Demo Running Mate:

10. Would you want to go on the road for 60 days with Hilary?
9. Would you want to go on the road for 60 days with Hilary AND Bill?
8. Barack asked her to swap out for another color pant suit (i.e. other than light blue) for casual Friday and Hilary gave him the silent treatment.
7. Something about Chelsea refusing to sit next to Barack on the bus.
6. Would you want to spend 60 days on the road with Joe Biden? Oops, wrong blog post.
5. Demo party leaders convinced that conservative McCain would never choose an unknown woman for an executive position and disrupt everything. Not in a million years.
4. Hilary reminds us too much of Carly Fiorina, a republican (Carly's pic at right).
3. Hilary didn't actually seek the VP role. Yea right.
2. Barack was worried that Hilary would drive his campaign into deep debt like hers.

And, the #1 reason why Obama didn't pick Hilary as his running mate:
1. Ran out of lipstick.

It's a major "what-if" to think that if Barack did this. The campaign talk right now would be completely different. The talk would be Clinton vs. Palin and Obama vs. McCain. With about 53 days to go, current victors are the Republicans by causing a major disruption to almost every strategy and tactic (strategery, thank you Mr. Bush) that the Obama campaign spent months putting together.

The Obama/Clinton tickets would be less of a war of words and more a war of experience. But, that ain't the case, and for now, Obamaites need to go back to the drawing board. Digging up dirt and slinging it at Palin seems to be the only tactic right now, and seems ineffective at changing the interests of voters. Unfortunately, people like Palin, and like her more than they like McCain. Hilary is on the sidelines, waiting desperately for her cabinet position. And, Obama can't reverse his decision, and likely his VP choice won't affect the eventual decision in favor of Obama.

Where is Joe Biden anyway? Has anyone heard from him? I heard he plans to be "Casper the Friendly Ghost" for Halloween.

It finally occurred to me this morning what the electionthis year actually about now.

It's not about the issues, it's not about platforms (as the two candidates platforms are actually very similar in what they stand for, except for a few differences such as Roe vs Wade)

It is a battle of Idealism (Obama) vs Realism (McCain).

It's to a point of blatant obviousness:

Obama proposes:

- Universal health care

- Raising the taxes on the rich to relieve the taxes on the poor

- "Fast tracking" alternative fuels

- Not accepting government money for his campaign (about $87 mil)

- Get the US out of Iraq ASAP

- Practice a more isolationist foreign policy

- Believing appearance doesn't matter as much as it does thus picking Biden instead of Hilary for VP

- Negotiate with Iran

McCain proposes:

- Health insurance reforms to allow people to increase the variety and affordability of insurance coverage available to American families by fostering competition and innovation

- Cutting taxes, trying to stop extraneous government spending to make up the difference

- Drilling in Alaska, open up off-shore drilling so this country isn't as reliant on foreign energy sources

- Staying in Iraq until the job is done

- Taking the $87 mil for his campaign

- Picking Palin as VP

The divide in Idealism vs Realism ideology is very extreme, to say the least, between Obama and McCain given most of what Obama is proposing has never been done before, but would be very grand and idealist dreams. It might have a lot to do with how old Obama is vs how old McCain is and what Obama has seen vs McCain has seen in his life. Obama still believes. McCain knows through experience.

Given that I'm understanding more and more lately that dreams are just that (dreams) and not real, I guess I've fallen into the Realism camp. Here are why I believe what Obama proposes will fail.

Obama proposes:

- Universal health care: How many times has this been tried in the past? Trying to do this will stop the US from producing top notch doctors because their salaries will never be as high as they are now after government intervention. Either that or this country is going to go into even more debt than ever. Sure, the health care might cost less for everyone, but the quality will also be mediocre at best because of this initiative.

- Raising the taxes on the rich to relieve the taxes on the poor: Steal from the rich, give to the poor? How Robin Hood-like. Unfortunately, the rich usually have most of the power in this country and will fight this (and put money behind people that will) and it most certainly will never pass.

- "Fast tracking" alternative fuels: Even if Obama started this the moment he gets into office, it'll take at least to the end of his first term to see any real results and probably until the end of his second term to see it as a viable source. Remember Bush's "hydrogen initiative"? So...where are the hydrogen cars?

- Not accepting government money for his campaign (about $87 mil): Very noble for Obama to try to save this tax payer money, but now Obama has to waste his time fundraising instead of getting people to vote from him. One less second on the campaign trail = one more second McCain can gain on him. You never want to give up even a second and let your opponent come back.

- Get the US out of Iraq ASAP: Half ass the job and then leave? What happens when Iraq crumbles into something crazy Islamic fundamentalist and no longer listens to reason? Since we are there, we have to finish the job. The area is too strategic (too much oil that we need, especially if Obama doesn't want to drill in Alaska or offshore) for us and that area getting screwed up is not in our interest.

- Practice a more isolationist foreign policy: I remember China closing their doors to the Western world for 2 centuries during the Qing Dynasty and then the world made China pay for doing so. It doesn't matter that everyone hates us. To be #1 means that you will have a lot of enemies.

- Believing appearance doesn't matter as much as it does thus picking Biden instead of Hilary for VP: It doesn't really seem like Obama wants to win the election that much, to tell you the truth. If he had picked Hilaryas VP, he'd be up 15 points in the polls right now and the election would be won in a landslide by Obama. Of course, since he doesn't understand how most Americans are all about appearance, he chose Biden and now McCain is suddenly equal or slightly ahead in the polls even though he was just left for the dead two weeks ago. Welcome to the real world, Mr. Obama.

- Negotiate with Iran: How can you talk to someone unconditionally without bargaining chipsand demands first? Even skilled businessmen know you need to bring stuff to the table and try to get away with whatever you can get from the other person/party.

So basically, if Obama loses this election despite apparently being the running away winner just two weeks ago, his idealism will have killed him.
