The Standard 

Right The Standard Downtow L.A is more mature fashion crowd: Armani successful parties and great decoration. But I’ve still liked having a drink at The Standard Hollywood on Sunset boulevard, more bohemian and independent filmmakers dressed like Sonic Youth. Most of all, the hotel is located in West Hollywood, near Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Melrose. Sunset is the playground of wow wannabes something and it’s pretty funny to watch them. Near the Standard Hollywood, there are the famous Château Marmont and Mondrian and Barfly and one of my favorite restaurants too. Downtown L.A.: it’s a bit too Spartan and perfect. There are some incredible lofts, but I feel home here.

Palms Thai 

Let’s go to Los Feliz, between Armenia and Thailand, to have a fanciful diner at the Palms Thai, with our Thai Elvis Presley live, local star! Wow! I really do like this authentic popular part of this district: the mat sparkle of L.A. Where my old Armenian grocer sells Halva and sings Aznavour each times I come in the shop! A kind of Blue in The Face mood, but in L.A, with weird funny clients, always the same. Lot’s of feeling! I also like the architecture, the elegant quaint spirit of the old L.A., 30-50’s fronts and copies of castles like flats residence. Some very few arty edgy bars and restaurants. There are often shootings in motels around, Tarantino vibes. In the rich part of Los Feliz, near the Griffith Park, some stars including Madonna, have a house. From the Observatory, looking at night the city, impressive show of a huge shining octopus. How can't we be bewitched!

Pink’s

Who’s never known about the Pink’s Hot dog ? Since 1939 in Hollywood : THE hot dog academy. Stars hot dog. I don’t exaggerate! Even the Fashion planet stops at Pink’s: Yes Karl (Lagerfeld) was there! I’ve noticed since my post about the Dover Street Market in London, we've gone to the same places, gosh how small is the planet Earth! Lol! And of course many many other big stars… you know the chorus now: you’re in L.A, baby! Look at the crowd behind me stands in line and you catch the point!

The Standard 

Ok The Standard Downtow L.A est plus "je me la pète fashion mature" : Armani y donne des fêtes réussies, la déco est top. Mais j’aime toujours autant boire un verre au Standard Hollywood sur Sunset, plus bohème et independant filmmakers lookés Sonic Youth. Il est surtout situé à West Hollywood et proche de  Beverly Hills, Hollywood et Melrose. Sunset, l'aire de jeu d’une faune assez wow à voir évoluer : le wannabe something. A proximité il y a pour les plus connus le Château Marmont, le Mondrian, le Barfly et aussi un de mes restaurants favoris. Downtown L.A. : un peu trop spartiate, perfect. Il y a des lofts incroyables, mais I feel home here.

Palms Thai 

Direction Los Feliz, entre Arménie et Thaïlande, pour un dîner fantasque au Palms Thai , avec en live notre thaï Elevis Presley, gloire locale ! Wow ! J'aime beaucoup cette partie du quartier simple, vraie et populaire, l'éclat mat de L.A. Où mon vieil épicier arménien vend du Halva et me chante Aznavour dès que j’entre dans son magasin ! Du Brooklyn Boogie, façon L.A., avec sa galerie d'habitués, clients déjantés. Beaucoup d’émotion ! On y trouve dans l’architecture, l’esprit désuet et élégant du vieux L.A., façades années 30-50 et réplique de château en guise de résidence appartements. De rares cafés restaurants arty edge. Il y a souvent des tournages dans un des motels à côté, esprit Tarantino. Partie huppée du quartier, près du fameux Griffith Park qui surplombe la ville, certaines stars comme Madonna ont une maison. Aussi voir absorber la ville de nuit, impressionnant spectacle d'une pieuvre géante luminescente qui brille de mille éclats. Comment ne pas être ensorcelée !

Pink’s

Vous ne connaissez pas? The Pink’s Hot dog ! Depuis 1939, sur Hollywood : L’académie du hot dog.  Des stars, j’exagère à peine ! Voir de la planète Fashion : Karl, oui KL, y aurait même fait une entorse à son rigoureux régime hyper protidique ! Je sens tout de suite que le hot dog n’aura jamais plus la même saveur. Depuis mon post sur le Dover Street Market à Londres, nous ne nous quittons plus ! Lol ! Et bien sûre un infini florilège d’autres stars… Vous connaissez le refrain maintenant : you’re in L.A. baby ! Regardez cette foule derrière moi qui fait la queue pour son hot dog : vous avez tout compris !

Tradition tradition! This establishment has been in Piccadilly since 1707. Comparable to Hédiard (in Paris), this store is specialized in teas and cakes. Cakes are not my cup of tea, but I really like teas, mostly green ones. And those meticulous packaging with an English granny flavor are absolutely delicious. A small walk between teas shelves gives some ideas of greedy gifts to devour with eyes first… Between two cakes: a La Prairie beauty break? Or having a drink at the wine bar… Proust's Madeleine.

Ah la tradition ! Voici un établissement qui remonte à 1707. Une épicerie fine comparable à Hédiard, spécialisée dans les thés et gâteaux. Les gâteaux : pas vraiment ma tasse de thé, mais j’aime beaucoup les thés, plutôt verts d’ailleurs. Ces emballages, présentation soignée et côté mamie anglaise, absolument délicieux. Petite promenade entre les rayonnages : quelques idées cadeaux gourmands à dévorer du regard et plus si affinités ! Entre deux cakes : une pause beauté La Prairie ? Ou siroter paresseusement un verre au bar à vins... La Madeleine Proust.

Superb, isn’t it? Swarovski. A mirror wall dotted with brilliants, so glam ! Where? Darling, at Sketch! Another "considered to be essential": the famous Momo’s restaurant and lounge. Really great fanciful decoration, friendly smart hype atmosphere. All of the ingredients combined in the same location, absolutely impossible to find in Paris, without this irritating arrogance bonus.

MOMO

Another night: in Soho, having drinks with friends at Momo (the Sketch owner) in a laid back delightful Marrakech ambiance and decoration. On Regent Street, I snapshot the Burberry’s windows.  

At Momo, in spite of the crowd: it’s really full, we could stay for ages… except my urge of sushi and sashimi!

Too much choice: Agnès can’t decide, the kitchen is opened till 11-12pm. It’s good, pretty substantial and correct price. By the way, it’s a Chinese restaurant chain, funny for a Japanese restaurant!

Superbe non? Swarovski. Un mur miroir parsemé de brillants, glam à souhait ! Où? Au Sketch, chéri ! Autre incontournable, je sais, me répète. Restaurant et lounge du célébrissime Momo, à la déco fantasque complétement barrée, très réussie : ambiance hype chic et friendly. Tous les ingrédients réunis en un même lieu, absolument impossible de trouver à Paris, sans l'indigeste dose d'arrogance en prime !

Autre soirée, autres envies du côté de Soho. Apéro entre amis chez Momo (même propriétaire que le Sketch) ambiance marrachi très agréable, déco orientaliste. Arrivée par Regent Street : snapshots des vitrines Burberry.

Chez Momo, en dépit du monde : c'est plein, on s’éterniserait jusqu’à pas d’heure… si ça n’était mon envie pressante de sushi !

Agnès peine à se décider tant il y a de choix, service jusqu’à 23h-minuit. C’est bon, assez copieux et le prix correct. J’oubliai, c’est une chaîne de restaurants chinoise, amusant pour un « japonais ».

Here an exclusive address: the really cute "green forest wallpaper" shop of Patrick Roger, "Meilleur Ouvrier de France" (the Best Worker of France) in 2000. This globetrotter chocolate maker always discovers chocolates from everywhere around the world: Ghana, Colombia, Indonesia, Tanzania or Papouasie… And my best ones are the chocolate bars from Venezuela and Cuba. Hey keep the secret! Promess!

Délicieuse boutique, écrin papier peint d’un sous-bois très vert rafraîchissant, à l'entêtante et chavirante odeur, du maître es Chocolat Patrick Roger.
