"O diretor Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd: O Barbeiro Demoníaco da Rua Fleet) será responsável pelo filme Alice, baseado no livro Alice no País das Maravilhas, de Lewis Carroll.

 Burton fará a adaptação a pedido da Disney. O objetivo do estúdio é refilmar clássicos que foram feitos em animação, mas em live-action, ou seja, com atores de verdade. A intérprete da garota que dorme e acaba conhecendo lugares fantásticos será a atriz australiana Mia Wasikowska (Defiance).

O diretor vai utilizar a técnica de captura 3D, a mesma de A Lenda de Beowulf (2007) e Capitão Sky e o Mundo de Amanhã (2004). O roteiro, de Linda Woolverton (roteirista de O Rei Leão), promete ser ser mais macabro do que a versão animada."

Desde sempre eu quis ver Tim Burton, o meu diretor favorito, dirigindo Alice No País das Maravilhas. Nem acredito que ele vai fazer isso de fato! E ainda com a garota que arrasou na série In Treatment. Filme que espero ansiosamente de nº 5874...

"Alice in Wonderland" soll vorraussichtlich 2010 erscheinen und ein Motion-Capture-Film werden. Weitere Rollen sind noch nicht bekannt.

Dexter tem a genialidade e a leveza de uma das minhas séries preferidas, Six Feet Under. Mas esse primeiro episódio não me empolgou tanto como de outras séries como Nip/Tuck, Six Feet Under, Damages, In Treatment... Mas é claro que isso não fez com que eu visse todo o potencial da série e o Michael C. Hall está perfeito no papel deixando de lado o David Fisher de Six Feet Under, em nenhum momento eu me lembrei de seu papel anterior. A vontade de ver o próximo episódio é imensa.

We here at TV Bacon have some issues with the Emmy nominations. This is...not unusual. We remember with something less than glee 2002, when the Academy saw fit to honor Ray Romano for acting. Still, nominees tend to be bifurcated between glorious and ghastly--after all, 2002 was the same year they recognized John Spencer. Below we outline the most exciting moments and the most egregious omissions of the 2008 nominations.

The Horror! The Horror! 

Maybe They Think Masturbation Means Chewing Your Food: The exclusion of Pushing Daisies from the Best Comedy Series lineup is nigh unforgivable. Granted, we're not convinced this show belongs among comedy company either, but voters had no trouble nominating it for 12 other awards as a comedy. So, having some of the best writing, directing, actors, music, costumes, production design, editing, and hair and makeup means you aren't as good as Entourage. Nice. Also, where is the cinematography nod?

Game's The Same--Just Got More Fierce: The Wire got as many nominations as According to Jim. One of the greatest achievements in American television history ends with two total Emmy nominations. Two. Total. Across five stellar seasons. So...convince us the Emmys mean anything.

Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton Get Sacked: Yes, only five people watch Friday Night Lights. Yes, even people who don't watch the show heard the bad buzz surrounding this season's ludicrous murder plot. Chandler and Britton still turned in some of the most subtle, detailed, wrenching performances on TV. Thank goodness Boston Legal was there to provide James Spader's fantasia courtroom grandstanding and Candice Bergen's ninth nomination instead.

Bear McCreary Must Be in A Galaxy Far, Far Away: We love Battlestar Galactica, but even we'll acknoweldge that the episodes that fell within the eligibility period were perhaps not the strongest the show has ever put out (we'd hold out more hope that they might be recognized next year as they sign off, but...The Wire). Maybe we should celebrate that a show on the Sci Fi Channel about spaceships gets any nominations at all, let alone six, let alone one in a major category (Drama Writing). Even though it's a travesty that Mary McDonnell goes unnominated while the likes of Mariska Hargitay get in again, episodes focusing on her character fell outside of the eligibiity period. But no matter how hard we try, we can't understand how Bear McCreary's epic, innovative work scoring this show can go unrecognized. We threatened previously to unleash Katherine Heigel if this happened, so batten down the hatches and bar the door against Katie.

Thank Goodness Things Have Changed Since the 60s: Three acting nominations for Mad Men, and they're all for men, in spite of the complex, beautifully acted female characters on the show. It's not like television is overflowing with outstanding roles for women, leaving no room for the likes of Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks.

Evacuate the Children!: Classical Baby: The Poetry Show. Hannah Montana. High School Musical 2. Nick News with Linda Ellerbee: The Untouchable Kids of India. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Even with a couple of classy entries, this might be the Emmy category with the lowest batting average. We weep for the future.

Lest We Forget: So much for the greatest generation. Ken Burns' epic, moving, historic documentary on World War II received nominations for writing, directing, sound, and editing, but is nowhere to be found in nonfiction series or special. Inside the Actors Studio, which was nominated, interviewed Charlie Sheen last year. Well, he is an Emmy nominee. As is his personal hairstylist.

Even A Stopped Clock Is Right Twice A Day: Kudos and Huzzahs

And This Award You Just Got? It's A Cookie: 17.5 nominations (including one for Kenneth's the Page's webpage) for 30 Rock...and they probably deserved more. Where's the recognition for costume design for Will Arnett's super-short robe? Shine a spotlight on Tina Fey and turn a wind machine on her--she might be on stage a lot come Emmy night.

Better Award Winning through Chemistry: Bryan Cranston was robbed during his time on Malcolm in the Middle, never winning for his warm, rubbery Hal. Here's hoping that his performance as a terminally ill teacher who becomes an quietly angry meth dealer garners him the Emmy he so deserves. Don't mess with him, voters--he can melt you in a bathtub.

Perhaps This Will Make Him Feel Warm and Safe and Loved: With a loaded Lead Comedy Actor category, we worried that Lee Pace's mild, sad, lovestruck piemaker would be overlooked. Finding his name on the list was better than than a cup-pie with urban honey baked into the crust.

He Knew Which Palms to Grease: It wasn't for his role as The Wire's corrupt ex-mayor, but Glynn Turman's nomination for In Treatment is a huge--and most welcome--surprise in a category that often recognizes movie stars regardless of the size or quality of the role they play. Frankly, we thought he'd lose out to Robin Williams. Now we just want to see Turman beat him.

No More Kings--Just A Bunch of Emmy Nominees: John Adams was uneven as all get-out, but the wide range of supporting actors breathing life into the architects of a new country took our breath away. From the always-brilliant Tom Wilkinson as an earthy Ben Franklin to a surprising David Morse as George Washington to Laura Linney as the backbone helping to hold a country together, the characters surrounding Adams outstrip the second president.

Because We Know Patty: FX's bold, beautifully shot Damages seemed to suffer from all the things that usually keep shows from being recognized by the Emmys. First, it's really good. Second, it's on basic cable--HBO's award-grubbing budget is probably bigger than FX's total budget. The intricate mystery doesn't lend itself to the Emmy screening process. And yet, quality wins out for a change. Let's hope the same holds true for the final victors.

Quase perfeito. Não fosse pela ausência de In Treatment (não sei se Boston Legal é bom assim, mas por mim, poderia entrar no lugar dessa), seria a lista que sempre imaginei. Dexter, finalmente reconhecido, Lost merecidamente indicado, mostrando que não ganhou o Emmy só por causa de hype, mas sim porque é de fato, espetacular. No entanto, com Damages e Mad Men no páreo, fica difícil para a série dos sobreviventes, já que as duas são favoritas. House é sempre indicado e por essa ótima 4ªtemporada, merecia ganhar.

Já Curb Your Enthusiasm eu nunca vi. Aposto que ou 30 Rock leva novamente, ou Entourage. E CADÊ CALIFORNICATION????

Mais gente merece ser indicada, mais gente merece ganhar! E olha Lee Pace aí. Torcendo pra Baldwin, que tem grandes chances de levar. Faltou David Duchovny. Poderia substituir Shalhoub.

Boston Legal - Damages - Dexter - House - Lost - Mad Men

Minha Opinião: Estou torcendo pra House ou Lost, mas acho que quem deva ganhar deve ser ou Damages ou Mad Men. Damages teve uma temporada brilhante, mas alguns episódios foram confusos e quanto a Mad Men mesmo com a reconstituição de época perfeita foi uma série dificil de ver apesar da season finale impressionante. Acho que quem leva é Mad Men.

Melhor Série Comédia:

Curb Your Enthusiasm - Entourage - The Office - 30 Rock - Two And A Half Men

Minha Opinião: Dessas séries só vi a temporada de Two And A Hal Men e não foi lá grandes coisas então acho que 30 Rock deva ganhar até por causa do número absurdo de indicações.

Melhor Ator Drama:

Gabriel Byrne(In Treatment) - Hugh Laurie(House) - Michael C. Hall(Dexter) - James Spader(Boston Legal) - Brian Cranston(Breaking Bad) - Jon Hamm(Mad Men)

Minha Opinião: In Treatment só vi uma semana e Gabriel Byrne estava muito bem no papel, mas minha torcida vai pro Hugh Laurie por ainda não ter ganho e também pela season finale que foi impressionante, mas quem deva ganhar seja Jon Hamm que também fez um ótimo trabalho em Mad Men.

Melhor Ator Comédia:

Alec Baldwin(30 Rock) - Steve Carrell(The Office) - Charlie Sheen(Two And A Half Men) - Lee Pace(Pushing Daisies) - Tony Shalhoub(Monk)

Minha Opinião: Torço pra Lee Pace, mas acho que a vitória deva ficar entre o Alec Baldwin, Steve Carrell e o Tony Shalhoub.

Minha Opinião: Acredito que o Michael Emerson leve essa, se ele não levar torço pro Zeljko Ivanek que fez um ótimo trabalho em Damages. Eu me espantei com a indicação do John Slattery aqui.

Minha Opinião:  Nessa categoria tenho três preferidas, em ordem: Kristin Chenoweth, Holland Taylor e Vanessa Williams. Botei a Vanessa em terceiro por ainda não ter visto a segunda temporada, mas ainda não vi nenhuma despontando como favorita.

Let's recount the television shows I have hailed this year:

30 Rock: Okay, the Emmy people love this show as much as I do. Included among their 17 (!!!) Emmy nominations: Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor (Alec Baldwin) and Lead Actress (Tina Fey), and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (for TWO episodes).

Pushing Daisies: Despite its shortened season due to the writers' strike, this show scored pretty well in the Emmy nominations, mostly scoring nods for acting and its arty look. But wait - what's this I see? A writing nomination for the pilot episode. Hooray!!

In Treatment: BOO!! Bad Emmy people! Only four nominations, with a deserved three for acting (Gabriel Byrne, Dianne Wiest, and Glenn Turman) - where's the love for Sophie (Mia Wasikowska), people??? And no writing nominations. For shame.

The Wire: I can barely write this. One. Lousy. Nomination. A show that virtually ALL television critics hailed as maybe the best, most intelligent series on television, EVER - and it scores one nomination. Granted, it's for the writing in the series finale. But please. That's an insult.

LOST: I'm still bitter about The Wire, frankly. Yeah, whatever. Outstanding Drama nomination. Big whoop. Where's the writing nomination for "The Constant," the brilliant and emotional time loop episode featuring Desmond? I'll tell you where. In the crazy time warp that the island apparently went to, because it's sure not here.

So. Some hits. Some misses. Some egregious errors. There's always next year.

In der Kategorie "Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour)" hat "The Simpsons" mal wieder eine Nominierung abgestaubt. South Park ging leer aus. Dafür hat South Park für die Episode Imaginationland in der Kategorie "Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming One Hour Or More)" eine Nominierung erhalten und hat auch gute Chance dort zu gewinnen.

HBOs Miniserie John Adams erhält gleich 23 Chancen auf einen Emmy. Darunter auch in den Kategorien "Outstanding Miniseries" und "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special".

Heroes hingegen muss mit nur drei Nominierungen leben. Und die sind auch nur in Nebenkategorien wie "Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series".

Dexter hingegen erhielt imemrhin fünf Nominierungen und hätte es nach der sehr guten zweiten Staffel verdient mindestens einen Emmy mit nach Hause zu nehmen. Allerdings wird das schwer werden, denn selbstverständlich tritt Dexter in den verschiedenen Kategorien gegen andere gute Shows wie z.B. Breaking Bad, In Treatment, House, Mad Men und sogar Lost an. Ein Sieg für Michael C. Hall in der Kategorie "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series" wird langsam mal Zeit.

ABCs Lost schafft es 2008 auf acht Nominierungen, darunter auch endlich wieder "Outstanding Drama Series". Zudem erhielt die Episode The Constant eine Nominierung ("Outstanding Cinematography for a One Hour Series"). Auch Michael Emerson (Benjamin "Ben" Linus) hat gute Chancen zu gewinnen ("Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series").

Vier Nominierungen gehen an AMCs Breaking Bad. Die neue Serie erhält u.a. eine Nominierung für den besten Hauptdarsteller ("Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series"). Eine zweite Staffel ist zum Glück schon in Arbeit.

Mad Men, eine weitere AMC-Serie, erhielt ganze 16 Nominierungen. Sie gilt auf jeden Fall als einer der heißesten Favoriten dieses Jahres.

Immerhin 12 Nominierungen erhielt Pushing Daisies, was aber zum größten Teil darauf zurüczuführen ist, dass die Serie dem Comedy- und nicht dem Drama-Genre zugeordnet wurde.

Nur zwei Nominierungen erhielt hingegen, etwas enttäuschend, Californication.

In Treatment liegt da mit fünf Nominierungen im gesunden Mittelfeld. Ein Emmy Award ist auf jeden Fall mehr als verdient für die HBO-Serie.

Weitere fünf Nominierungen gehen an die Serie Entourage, die schon 2007 zwei Emmys gewann.

FOXs House bekommt dieses jedeglich vier Chancen auf einen Emmygewinn aber wenigstens wieder in der Kategorie "Outstanding Drama Series". Obwohl man dieses Jahr wen anderes gewinne lassen sollte (Lost oder Dexter).

Die Comedyserie 30 Rock bekam ganze 18 Nomierungen. Wie viele Awards die Serie am Ende erhält wird sich zeigen.

Die 60. Emmy Awards werden am 21. September 2008 verliehen.

Emmy nomination morning is kind of like Christmas morning - you're all excited about it as it approaches, wary of the potential surprises and the like, etc. But, unlike Christmas that ends in the complete elimination of suspense, the Emmy Awards are the start of a whole new game. In this case, not only do we react to what just happened (The good, the bad and the ugly of it) but also to what will happen in September when somebody in each of these categories has to win one of the darn things.

For now, it's time to take a look at the big stories out of this morning's nominations (You can check out the fill list here).

30 Rock Domination

The Good: With a ridiculous 17 nominations, 30 Rock is the most nominated series at the awards. This includes nods for the series itself, Alec Baldwin, and Tina Fey, along with two writing and one directing nomination for the series, along with well deserved guest acting noms for Elaine Stritch, Edie Falco, Carrie Fisher, Will Arnett and Rip Torn.

The Bad: The rather unfortunate snubs of Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer sting a little bit, but they had tough races and this isn't too much of a surpise.

The Ugly: Steve Buscemi and Tim Conway do not deserve guest acting nominations for this show - Buscemi was great, but he was barely in the episode, while Conway coasted on his past success with a role that never fit into the episode. Matthew Broderick, Dean Winters and David Schwimmer all did considerably better work on the series, and that they are not represented here is extremely unfortunate.

Lost is Back in the Race

The Good: In perhaps my favourite news of the ceremony, a bump to six nominees in the Drama Series category sees Lost make it into the fray ahead of Grey's Anatomy, securing its first nomination in the category since its first season. Michael Emerson also grabbed a Supporting Actor nomination, as expected, while I'm extremely pleased to see Michael Giacchino pick up a nod for his great composing for "The Constant."

The Bad: Still a bit annoyed that so few other supporting players were eligible for the major awards, so it's a bit disheartening to see most of the show's nominations coming from sound editing, mixing, editing, etc. when the cast is so deserving.

The Ugly: Despite getting the show nominated for an Emmy, no room is found for "The Constant" in writing or directing categories; the latter isn't too disappointing, but the former is a bit more surprising and disheartens me as to Lost's chances in the major categories.

Pushing Daisies Blooms...and Busts

The Good: Announcing the nominees was good luck for the ever charming Kristin Chenoweth, who along with co-star Lee Pace picked up an acting nomination to go with the series numerous technical, writing and directing awards resulting in the third highest total with 12 nominations.

The Bad: Unfortunately, they weren't joined by their co-star Chi McBride, who really should have made the Supporting Acting Top 10.

The Ugly: And yet, despite all of this, the show failed to net a nomination for Best Comedy Series, an omission that just doesn't make any sense. I will rant about who I think should have gotten the boot in a moment, but this is an oversight that will haunt the Emmys for a long time in my books, and is surprising considering both Pace and Chenoweth making their respective races.

Damages Gets it Right

The Good: So much, mainly the fantastic inclusion of Zejlko Ivanek in the Supporting Actor race, is right with this picture. Along with Ted Danson, they are a strong force in that category, and they're joined by Glenn Close in the Best Actress race, and writing/directing/series nominations for the fantastic pilot.

The Bad: While it's not quite what I'd call a bad thing, it's a big surprise to see Rose Byrne snubbed in Supporting Actress Drama. Mind you, I was never a fan of her performance so I would personally not put her into the category, but that Emmy voters didn't is surprising.

The Ugly: Not much, to be honest - while I felt the series fell apart at the end, the nominated performers and the Pilot were both great, so I'm content with this performance.

The Rise and Fall of The Office

The Good: Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell return to the nominations circle along with their series this year, including a number of directing and writing nominations for the uneven but very solid fourth season.

The Bad: Amy Ryan, fantastic in the finale "Goodbye, Toby" gets snubbed for her great turn in the episode, joining Sarah Chalke as examples of Emmy voters ignoring great performances from younger female competitors in favour of older ones (With Sarah Silverman being the only youth candidate, and a kind of annoying one).

The Ugly: Jenna Fischer, deserving of a win last year, doesn't even break into Supporting Actress Comedy this year, and John Krasinski literally has his spot stolen away in Supporting Actor. Apparently the love for Jam at the Academy is limited, which is unfortunate as they both do great work.

Mad about Mad Men

The Good: While it's no surprise, Mad Men is the top nominated Drama Series with 16 nominations including deserving slots for John Slattery, Jon Hamm, Robert Morse along with two writing, one directing and a whole host of craft-related nominations (Including a well deserved nod for Main Title Design)

The Bad: A little bit disappointing, to be honest, to see January Jones missing from the performers list, but that was a Top 10 snub that was never going to happen.

The Ugly: There's nothing ugly about this performance - it's the show to beat.

Seriously: Entourage was BAD, people

The Good: Jeremy Piven continues to do great work as Ari Gold, so his nomination is deserving.

The Bad: N/A

The Ugly: So much to discuss here. To start with, the series' nomination for Best Comedy Series is a complete sham, driven completely by a popular vote total that is not representative of the series' quality. Frankly put, the fourth season was just plain awful, and the result was poor material for all of its stars. This is why Kevin Dillon's nomination in Supporting Actor makes no sense: he had great material last year, but here he had nothing even close to deserving of breaking into this category with so many other worthy competitors. This is an example of popular vote gone awry, a rarity of sorts in this awards season.

Dexter Bloodies the Emmys

The Good: A shocking inclusion in Best Drama Series plays agains all of the presumptions about the Emmy voters being unwilling to embrace such a bloody show. Older voters, however, have seen the light about the show and Michael C. Hall's great performance - I thought the second season ended poorly, but its driving momentum was amongst the year's best. It also joins Mad Men and Damages as the first non-HBO cable shows to break into the major categories.

The Bad: The lack of Keith Carradine in the Guest Actor race is disheartening, as he did some great work as Dexter's passive foil. While it wasn't a showy role, it was a strong one and it's clear that he just doesn't have enough cachet in the academy.

The Ugly: I'm happy to see the show represented, so not much ugly here - too bad it has no chance in any of its categories, though, as I think that nominations is the end of the line for the show.

The Reality of the Matter

The Good: The Reality Competition category stays the same, which means my favourites (The Amazing Race and Project Runway) are nominated. And, I'll be honest: while I love him to death, Phil Keoghan being left out of the host category is the right move, if only because it makes sure Jeff Probst makes it in for his more present work on Survivor.

The Bad: Heidi Klum really doesn't deserve her nomination, though - compared to Bergeron and Seacrest, in particular, there's really no comparison in how much more work they have. She comes out, says a few lines, and for the most part has no banter/interaction and has the support of a huge judging panel with the critiques. Compared to Probst, especially, she falls flat.

The Ugly: I think Howie Mandel is a great host on Deal or No Deal, but that show being nominated for an Emmy in any capacity is a popular vote catastrophe.

Good News, Bad News for Battlestar

The Good: Battlestar Galactica grabs its second consecutive writing nomination for the great "Six of One" from Michael Angeli, and also grabs its usual visual effects, cinematography and sound mixing nominations (Plus a featurette nomination for one of the Razor segments).

The Bad: The show regressed, though, losting its directing nomination it has last year, and Mary McDonnell couldn't turn her Top 10 spot into a deserved nomination - still, the glass ceiling exists.

The Ugly: Bear McCreary's amazing score for the series being ignored yet again continues to be a travesty - I can only hope that his epic and amazing piece he composed for the mid-season finale, which will be eligible next year, won't be similarly forgotten. If it is, I'm sending letters.

The Fall of Grey's Anatomy

The Good: Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson were probably the only two characters to avoid being scarred by Grey's Anatomy's extremely weak season, so their nominations are well deserved (And I wish Oh would win this thing for once, although she's a long shot).

The Bad: I'm a bit annoyed with Diahann Carroll phoning in a visit as Burke's mother and getting a nomination for it when there were other actresses who did more expansive work on the season. I always hate to see age dominate the guest categories like this.

The Ugly: For the show, and not for my own interests, this was an ugly year. Snubbed in Best Drama Series and without a single writing/directing nomination, the series just didn't connect with voters this year.

Emmys make a House Call (But Leave Early)

The Good: It's great to see Hugh Laurie in the race, just so he can win the Emmy he's earned five times over at this point, and the solidly directed "House's Head" grabbed a directing nomination to go along with the series' nod for Drama Series.

The Bad: The show was shown little love elsewhere, though, with no writing nominations and no love for guest actress Mira Sorvino for "Frozen" which surprises considering it was the show's Emmy submission.

The Ugly: That neither half of the wonderful Robert Sean Leonard and Anne Dudek won't see nominations for their work as Wilson and Amber in the season finale is truly heartbreaking, and her absense in particular stings.

The Rest

Boston Legal: Nominations for Emmy favourites Shatner, Spader and Bergen combine with the series' Best Drama nomination for a powerful performance - it won't win series, but watch out for its acting competitors.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: The series make it into the race, but Larry David gets snubbed out of a Best Actor nomination and the show is shown little love elsewhere.

Flight of the Conchords: Sure, it never had a shot at the big category, but the show received two Music and Lyrics nominations (Competing with Jimmy Kimmel's "I'm F*cking Matt Damon") and surprise direction/writing nominations.

In Treatment: It seems only Paul and Gina saw any love for In Treatment, as likely nominee Blair Underwood was snubbed in Supporting Actor (Showing that the voters only watched the tape with the old veterans - typical).

Saturday Night Live: Great news for Amy Poehler, who manages to break into Supporting Actress Comedy in her first year of eligibility. The show also grabbed a Writing nomination for Variety Series, and Tina Fey picked up a nod for individual performance in a Variety series. And yes, that means Tina Fey has FOUR nominations (Lead Comedy, Individual Variety, Writing and Producing).

The Colbert Report: This might be Stephen Colbert's year - without a single aging singer in the category, it might be clear sailing for him to finally pick up his deserved trophy. Standing in his way are Fey, Jon Stewart for the Oscars, Letterman and Don Rickles (He's gotta watch out for the later - he's old, they like that).

Breaking Bad: Great news for the freshman AMC series, as lead actor Bryan Cranston breaks into the race along with the pilot's direction.

Ugly Betty: As expected, the show fell out of favour, although Vanessa Williams and America Ferrera weathered the storm to grab nominations.

How I Met Your Mother: The show has no other nominations but art direction, but as always props to Neil Patrick Harris for grabbing his second straight supporting acting nomination. Too bad it couldn't have bumped out some of Two and a Half Men's numerous nominations.

The Wire: No, it didn't grab a nomination for Best Drama Series, but it did get a nomination for writing for David Simon and Ed Burns' work on the finale, so that's one step in the right direction for the awards even though they're too late to recognize the great work.

But that's enough from me - what did YOU think? What's got you riled up, and what has you jumping in your chair like it's Christmas all over again (Not that I jumped - there may have been a fist pimp or two, though).

Tem-se realizado, por estes dias, o habitual encontro, promovido pela Associação de Críticos de Televisão, entre a imprensa e as estações de televisão norte-americanas. Estes encontros são propícios à apresentação, por parte dos canais, das suas apostas a curto e médio prazo. É um resumo das principais novidades apresentadas pelas estações o que fazemos nesta série Projectos 2008/2009.

Primeiro as séries que a HBO tem em pré-produção e que conta estrear durante a próxima temporada, provavelmente no Verão de 2009. Uma comédia, com duração de meia hora, com o título Washingtonienne, baseada na blogger Jessica Cutler que escreveu sobre as suas aventuras sexuais com figuras políticas reais em Washington. A produção deverá arrancar no Outono e entre os produtores da série estará Sarah Jessica Parker.

Um novo drama está também a começar a ser trabalho por David Simon (criador de The Wire - A Escuta e da mini-série deste Verão na HBO Generation Kill). Chamar-se-à Treme e a sua principal temática serão as consequências do furacão Katrina.

Um outro drama, Boardwalk Express, do qual já tínhamos falado aqui, está também em desenvolvimento a pedido da HBO e, na sua equipa de produção, conta com nomes como os de Terence Winter (produtor executivo d'Os Sopranos), Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg e Stephen Levinson (produtor executivo de Entourage - A Vedeta). O foco deste drama são os meandros do crime organizado em Atlantic City, nos anos 20.

Já para Setembro estão programadas as estreias da 5ª temporada de Entourage - A Vedeta e das novas True Blood e Little Britain USA. Por definir estão as estreias da novas temporadas de Em Tratamento, Big Love, Flight of the Conchords e Tell Me You Love Me. Confirmado está o regresso de Larry David e da sua Curb Your Enthusiasm - Calma Larry em 2009.

A HBO apresentou ainda as suas intenções fora da televisão, isto é o mesmo que dizer no cinema. Uma sequela do filme O Sexo e a Cidade e a continuação d'Os Sopranos no grande ecrã continua a ser hipóteses em cima da mesa. De fora está a possibilidade de haver um filme para televisão de Deadwood (que encerraria a trama).

Sabe-se que a HBO adquiriu ainda os direitos sobre o piloto Fat Sells, um drama familiar de uma hora passado no mundo da milionária industria dos suplementos alimentares. O argumento é de Gren Wells e a produção de Dave Broome e do galardoado Forest Whitaker.

A fechar aquela que deverá ser a cereja no topo do bolo para a HBO: a mini-série The Pacific, que deverá estrear no fim de 2009, principio de 2010, ambientada durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial e que tem como produtores executivos Steven Spielberg e Tom Hanks, que se haviam juntado anteriormente para a mini-série Irmãos de Armas.

Gabriel Byrne, ator irlandês, vira fenômeno. Byrne representa o Dr. Paul Weston na série In Treatment (no Brasil, Em Terapia) do canal HBO. O sucesso é tamanho que seu verbete na Wikipedia é apenas um pouco menor que o da Psicanalista Lacaniana Elisabeth Roudinesco. O curioso é que Roudinesco, de fato, existe. Mas Dr. Paul é o personagem principal da série de maior sucesso do público psi e também dos leigos, abarcando - inclusive - espectadores que nunca cogitaram a hipótese de fazer análise e hoje andam revendo suas decisões. Sem falar no 'rebuliço' que o ator anda causando no público feminino.

A primeira temporada chegou ao fim na última sexta-feira. dia 11 de Julho, completando 43 distribuídas em sessões de 4 analisandos do Dr. Paul e em suas sessões semanais de análise com a Dra. Gina, interpretada pela atriz Dianne Wiest. A segunda temporada só começa a ser gravada daqui a três meses e o lançamento do Box da primeira temporada foi anunciado para Setembro deste ano nos Estados Unidos.

Enfim, assistam.

Calma, não entenda mal o titulo do post. Eu explico.

Que série maravilhosa. Acabei de terminar o piloto e é simplesmente incrível. Gabriel Byrne está sensacional como Paul Weston e fiquei com vontade de continuar acompanhando as sessões de Laura pra ver no que vai dar. Álias, quero acompanhar a série... o problema é que é um baita trabalho pro Paul Torrent me mandar mais de 40 episódios...

Então por que.. por que eu vi In Treatment!!! Agora quero ver mais... já viciei. Damn it.

O que fazer agora?

Eu ia dizer que queria que ela voltasse a fazer filme com Woody Allen mas, dada a instabilidade fílmica dele, acho melhor não.

Melhor série drama: 99,99% da população mundial tinha a certeza e batia o pezinho que In Treatment estaria não só entre as 10, mas entre as finalistas. Surpresa geral quando a lista foi divulgada e a aclamada série da HBO ficou de fora. Outra boa esnobada do Emmy foi para Brothers & Sisters. Ambas as séries devem ser compensadas com, pelo menos, duas indicações nas categorias de atuação. Mas, vamos falar das indicadas. Primeiro, as séries da TV fechada: The Wire, Dexter, Mad Men, Damages e The Tudors. Das cinco, Mad Men (vencedora do Globo de Ouro), Damages (aka série da Glen Close) e Dexter são as favoritas a estarem entre as cinco. Óbvio, não podemos esquecer que a HBO sempre coloca uma entre as finalistas, o que dá chances a The Wire. Já The Tudors, surpreendida pela não-indicação de Jonathan Rhys-Meyers a melhor ator, não deve entrar.
E entre as séries da TV aberta, temos o trio da ABC Lost, Grey's Anatomy e Boston Legal, pela FOX, House e, pela NBC, Friday Night Lights, a surpresa da lista. Dessas, vejo grandes chances para House e Grey's Anatomy. FNL tenho certeza que não passa daí e Lost e Boston Legal devem brigar por uma vaguinha caso a queda de rendimento de Grey's seja levada em consideração, com vantagem para a série de J.J. Abrams.

Apostas: Damages (FX), Dexter (Showtime), Mad Men (AMC), House (FOX) e última vaga entre Grey's Anatomy, Lost e Boston Legal (ABC) nessa ordem.

Melhor série comédia: Tão fácil... Pushing Daisies já está dentro. Não precisa haver discussão. Pela temporada quase perfeita, The Office também já está lá. Pelo passado e pelos nomes de Tina Fey e Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock é outra que estará entre as cinco finais. A briga pelas duas últimas vagas é que vai ser quente: Entourage e Curb Your Enthusiasm, ambas da HBO, vão brigar entre si por uma vaga, já que duas séries da HBO NÃO serão indicadas. O canal ainda tem outra indicada, Flight Of The Conchords, que não passa daqui. Outra que não passa é o DESENHO da FOX, Family Guy, que pegou a vaga sempre certa de Desperate Housewives. A última vaga será, então, disputada por Ugly Betty, Weeds e Two And A Half Men. E aí depende muito do critério utilizado pelos votantes. Pelo passado e pelo nome, Two And A Half Men já está lá. Se levarem em conta o hype, Ugly Betty entra. Mas não se deve esquecer que o Emmy sempre gosta de uma polêmica e, perdoem-me o clichê, polêmica é o sobrenome de Weeds. Sem contar que ela tem o peso de representar o Showtime, um canal que cresceu muito nos últimos anos. Minha torcida fica com Weeds, mas meu voto vai para TAHM.

Apostas: Pushing Daisies (ABC), The Office (NBC), 30 Rock (NBC), Entourage (HBO) e Two And A Half Men (CBS)

Melhor ator coadjuvante em série drama: O mundo enlouqueceu! Cadê o Terry O'Quin? E o Henry Ian Cusick? O segundo e o terceiro nome do elenco masculino de Lost, respectivamente. Perdem apenas para o sempre foda Michael Emerson, pré-indicado e presença certa na final. A ausência do vencedor do ano passado poderia, então, ser um indicador de que Naveen Andrews será o outro representante de Lost na disputa. Sobram três vagas que serão preenchidas por: Blair Underwood, para compensar a ausência de In Treatment entre as semifinalistas; William Shatner, porque Boston Legal está sempre lá e ele também; e Ted Danson, que simplesmente estraçalhou em Damages e merece muito a indicação. De resto, TR Knight? Sério?

Apostas: Michael Emerson (Lost-ABC), Naveen Andrews (Lost-ABC), Blair Underwood (In Treatmente-HBO), William Shatner (Boston Legal-ABC) e Ted Danson (Damages-FX)

Melhor atriz coadjuvante em série drama: Cadê a Elizabeth Mitchell? De novo deixaram a melhor de todas de fora? Francamente, Sr. Emmy... Enfim, dentre as pré-indicadas, duas babas eu não vou nem comentar: Sandra Oh, de Grey's Anatomy e Rachel Griffiths, de Brothers & Sisters. As três vagas restantes estão beeeeeeeeem complicadas mesmo, mas acho que a HBO deve conseguir uma indicação, com Jane Alexander (Tell Me You Love Me) ou com Diane Wiest (In Treatment), deixando a briga final entre Rose Byrne, de Damages, Chandra Wilson, de Grey's Anatomy e Candice Bergen, de Boston Legal. Jag återkommer antagligen någon gång i augusti. Eftersom jag känner att nuvarande upplägg på bloggen är ganska meningslöst så kommer jag i så fall göra endel förändringar då också.

Amanhã atualizarei este post para as últimas considerações a respeito dessa série, mas uma coisa eu adianto: se Paul Weston me perguntasse como eu me sinto agora que terminei de ver as 43 sessões de tarapia, eu responderia com um largo sorriso no rosto:

Eu nunca me senti tão bem em toda minha vida.

Honestly. ;)

UPDATE:

Seguindo uma lógica que interpreto quase como um compromisso, escreverei sobre a série de maneira impessoal e depois vou descambar para os meus obscuros sentimentos relacionados ao seriado.

Como eu disse, In Treatment teve cinco merecidos episódios finais – o que acho mais do que justo uma vez que a série teve cinco episódios pilotos. Comentei os episódios pilotos, e não vejo melhor forma de encerrar essa série do que voltar a pôr em questão cada personagem individualmente:

Laura

Laura foi a responsável pelo pior final da série (episódio #43) – mesmo que “pior” no que diz respeito a In Treatment é ainda algo “muito acima da média”.

Laura sofreu 8 semanas em busca de tratamento para sua “transferência erótica”. E o que é transferência erótica? Uso as próprias palavras de Paul: é quando uma figura importante de sua infância, pai ou mãe, são refletidas por você em outra pessoa, e você passa a idealizar essa pessoa, tornando-a perfeita aos seus olhos.

Transferência erótica.

No caso de Laura, o problema foi grave. Sua transferência erótica sapecou seu terapeuta Paul Weston. Por uma carência e traumas de sua infância, Paul se tornou para Laura a figura de tudo aquilo que ela precisava e nunca teve.

É difícil olhar em retrospecto as sessões da Laura porque foi a única que mostrou muito pouco ou nenhum progresso em sua terapia, tendo sua conclusão e “libertação” apenas no final como um verdadeiro milagre de Deus.

A atriz é ótima, sim. Fez o melhor que pôde, e conseguiu inserir todas as características que o roteiro exigia em sua personagem. Numa visão geral, Laura foi muito bem.

Alex

Episódio final: #37.

Alex é um personagem que eu não esperava muita coisa, mas acabou por me surpreender em suas últimas sessões. O ponto culminante com certeza foi quando Alex prensou Paul e conseguiu irritá-lo – acredito que essa foi a grande sacada do roteiro, como que para demarcar o ponto de virada da história.

Não é a toa que no episódio seguinte vemos Alex chorar pela primeira vez, numa cena comovente. No entanto, é triste ver que o destino dele foi o mais trágico possível, nos causando um sentimento de amargura por sua vida infeliz. Por isso, quando Laura define Alex no episódio 36, e depois o pai de Alex o define no episódio 37, e por fim o próprio Paul fala sobre o paciente no episódio 40 de uma forma nunca antes vista, dá aquela sensação de tristeza deslocada no tempo. Talvez Alex tenha sido o maior fracasso de Paul como terapeuta.

Quanto ao ator, realmente eu tiro o chapéu. Excelente atuação. Parecia estar brincando em cena, pois cada olhar, cada mudança de expressão, surgia tão naturalmente que era um verdadeiro deslumbre. Eu fiquei realmente fã.

Sophie

Episódio final: #41.

My dear, Sophie. A personagem que mais progrediu visivelmente e que conseguiu mesclar assuntos absurdamente profundos com um toque jovial de adolescente. Acho que teve apenas um episódio que eu realmente não gostei (aquele em que ela quebra o barco do Paul num discursinho imbecil sobre o pai dela). Mas ela foi sem dúvida o melhor season finale de In Treatment, com direito ao abraço entre ela e Paul que eu tanto aguardei.

E se não verei mais Sophie em In Treatment, fico aliviado com a clara certeza de que ainda verei muito a jovem e talentosíssima atriz que a interpretou. Assim como Alex, ela parecia extremamente confortável em cena, e se controlava muito bem nos momentos fortes do episódio – não sendo jamais uma interpretação exagerada.

Como eu disse, ela foi a responsável pelo gran finale de In Treatment, e não consegui não chorar quando ela saiu pela porta do escritório com os balões.

Jake & Amy

Episódio final: #42.

Sou controverso ao falar sobre esse casal. Muitos episódios eu odiava, achava-os totalmente imbecis, mas o final foi satisfatório e por fim eles conseguiram manter um bom ritmo.

Aliás, o melhor episódio deles foi o da oitava semana, onde apenas o Jake comparece à terapia. Aquela metáfora com a luz do escritório... Cara, metáforas com a luz é uma coisa extremamente delicada de se tratar para não cair no clichê, e In Treatment faz um verdadeiro milagre com esse artifício.

Os atores são razoáveis, mas acho que não poderiam se sobressair muito em seus papéis.

Paul & Gina

Episódio final: #43.

O dia mais tedioso de In Treatment é, mesmo assim, um dos dias mais importantes da série. Fiquei impressionado com a força do episódio #40 (a melhor sexta-feira, sem dúvida), mas nada se compara ao irônico último episódio. Gina diz que o tratamento de Laura foi um sucesso, quando também está se referindo ao tratamento de Paul.

Fantástico isso.

A atriz é maravilhosa também. Sua expressão facial foi a mesma durante quase toda a série – só conseguíamos distinguir o riso, pois o resto era a mesma coisa -, mas o seu olhar nos fazia enxergar a alma da personagem, seus sentimentos. Acho que isso só é possível com uma atriz muito experiente como ela.

Outros personagens:

Não tenho muito o que dizer dos personagens secundários da série. Apenas tenho muita vontade de ver e ouvir mais a Rosie na segunda temporada – ela é lindinha e com certeza tem muito a contribuir com a série.

In Treatment é incomum; isso se nota logo de cara, até mesmo ao ler uma pequena sinopse. Mas o que realmente a difere de todas as outras séries é o nível de identificação entre ela e o espectador. Ao assistir, isso é muito claro: os temas e conflitos de cada personagem cutucam aquelas feridas abertas emocionais que todo mundo adquire ao longo da vida.

O quadro se torna ainda mais profundo e invasivo quando a série gira exatamente em torno dessas feridas, de forma direta. O que vemos são sessões de terapia afinal, e somos praticamente um terceiro personagem, mas oscilamos constantemente entre um segundo terapeuta e um segundo (ou terceiro) paciente.

Laura, por exemplo, não me despertou grande identificação a princípio, mas foi para mim um dos problemas do qual eu também me tratava durante o seriado. Sua “transferência” (leia a descrição sobre “transferência erótica” no tópico “Laura” acima) e a forma com que não conseguia lidar com isso foi simplesmente devastador para o coraçãozinho deste que vos escreve.

Alex e seus dilemas sobre corresponder às expectativas, procurar sempre se sobressair e ser o melhor para, assim, ser insubstituível, também causavam incômodo e uma afinidade amarga em mim. Acredito que o problema foi tratado, mas fiquei triste por realmente a terapia de Alex não ter chegado realmente ao fim – e quando digo que fico triste, é tristeza pelo personagem e por mim também.

Sophie tem problemas afetivos com as pessoas próximas – sua mãe, principalmente. Durante suas sessões o progresso é visível, porém a fragilidade da personagem jamais desaparece. Suas frustrações e angústias a levaram ao caminho extremo da morte, chegando a duas tentativas de suicídio. Não preciso nem dizer que foi uma das personagens que mais me pareceram... “familiares”, por assim dizer. Conhecia cada um dos problemas da Sophie, e a única coisa que nos diferenciava é que nunca passei de simples desejo de suicídio. No fim, vemos os pensamentos numa atmosfera plana; todos os problemas estão sendo superados, mas ainda não desapareceram. Senti vontade de fazer tanta coisa quando assisti ao último episódio da Sophie.

Jake e Amy foram os que mais se manteram distantes de mim, mas eventualmente algumas frases e diálogos acertaram em cheio meu coração.

Paul e Gina também não foram muito identificáveis comigo – quando entrou a Kate então... nem comento. A visão de Gina, porém, foi de grande ajuda para assistir e entender melhor a série, não nos limitando aos conceitos de apenas um terapeuta. Mas uma coisa será inesquecível para mim; o monólogo final de Gina no episódio #40 sobre o Charlie e o David. Cara... O que foi aquilo?!?! Chorei tanto que lavou meu rosto.

In Treatment, de todas as outras, é a série que mais me mudou até hoje. Sofri muito a cada episódio, mas como Gina mesmo diz: o que é melhor para se viver bem: se esconder ou enfrentar diretamente os seus problemas?

Optei pela segunda opção. Acho que acertei.

Sinto-me feliz enfim.

Battlestar Galactica [4x10] - Revelations: A quarta temporada teve sua midseason finale exibida há duas semanas. E que episódio! Aquilo que todos vínhamos aguardando desde a minissérie aconteceu: os sobreviventes acharam a Terra! Ajudados pelos quatros componentes conhecidos do Final Five, o planeta foi encontrado. Mas, como ainda faltam 10 episódios (que, infelizmente, só serão exibidos no ano que vem), a estória não podia acabar por aí. Ao chegar na Terra, a população das colônias encontra um planeta em ruínas e uma cidade que me pareceu New York totalmente destruída. Como assim? Anh? QUE?!?! Só ano que vem para saber, filhinho... senta aí e espera.

Weeds [4x02] - Lady's A Charm: Contrariando todo mundo, achei a season premiere muito melhor, mas esse é um episódio que entrará para a história. Por quê? Porque foi assistindo a ele que, pela primeira vez, eu tive pena da Celia. A bitch mais foda das séries está sofrendo dentro da cadeia, pobrezinha. Até a Isabelle percebeu. Fora isso, o episódio teve uma daquelas cenas épicas, que você vai contar para os netinhos quando estiver velho: "meu neto, teve um episódio de Weeds no qual a Nancy tava presa num engarrafamento e muito apertada para ir ao banheiro. Aí ela foi para o banco de trás e mijou no copo dela. E o policial da fronteira cheirou o copo depois". Nancy rules! A temporada continua e, como ela mesma disse, "enjoy the show".

Fringe [1x01] - Pilot: Antes de começar, vamos deixar claro que esse piloto vazado por aí é um PRE-AIR, ou seja, como se fosse um pré-episódio. Ainda não é o episódio definitivo e muita coisa ainda pode mudar nele. Dito isso, vou contrariar 80% da população mundial e dizer que amei a série. Como eu amo conspirações que envolvem grandes corporações com representantes velhas, frias e mal-comidas que estão dispostas a tudo para que o segredo seja mantido e que a empresa continue milionária! Se dúvida, candidata a fenômeno.
O QUE EU NÃO GOSTEI: do elenco. Bem fraquinho. O único que se sobressaiu foi Lance Reddick, famoso por seu papel em Lost. E olha que ele nem tem uma participação tão grande assim. JJ Abrams é foda, mas alguém tem que avisar a ele que outra Jennifer Garner não vai aparecer assim facilmente. Em Lost não deu certo e Fringe vai pelo mesmo caminho. Outra coisa que eu não gostei muito foi a metade do episódio. A primeira e a última meia hora foram sensacionais, mas a parte do meio ficou meio arrastada. E outra, enrolaram muito para colocarem a mulherzinha no sonho do carinha em coma. E uma última coisa: UMA VACA?!?!
O QUE EU GOSTEI: da direção. Ohhhh, que novidade. Tão óbvio que vou deixar para lá. Assim como o roteiro, foda demais! O mais marcante foi mesmo a cena inicial, que não chegou aos pés de Lost, mas foi muito boa. E o jeito como o nome dos lugares foi mostrado na tela também me fez ir a loucura. Nem é tão original, mas ficou foda!

Secret Diary Of A Call Girl: Uma série inglesa que eu conheci por causa de uma chamada no fim da premiere de Weeds. Tem alguns problemas no roteiro, principalmente por não se definir como uma comédia ou um drama. E não se pode nem chamá-la de "dramédia" (como eu odeio essa denominação), já que esse tipo de série mistura os dois estilos e SDCG não tem nenhum dos dois.
A série conta a estória de Hannah, uma prostituta. Os episódios mostram como Hannah lida com seus clientes, sua chefe (ou cafetina, como queiram) e seu melhor amigo, Ben.
Acho que SDCG tem um potencial enorme, mas é muito mal aproveitada. Eu quero ver mais comédia nas cenas dela com os clientes e quero ver mais drama na relação dela com a família. Tentar ter os dois e não ter nenhum é que não dá.

OBS: A série tem uma melhora considerável, principalmente a partir do quarto episódio. Ainda não é aquilo tudo, mas está começando a mostrar que pode chegar lá. Entrou no caminho certo e qualquer dia eu talvez diga que gosto da série.

As finalistas do Emmy

Ohhhh, caiu o queixo! Saiu a lista com as 10 finalistas do Emmy 2008 nas categorias "série comédia" e "série drama". E são elas:

Quem diria! Uma lista praticamente perfeita! Totalmente dentro do esperado, a não ser pela ausência de In Treatment, a maravilhosa série da HBO. Ausência que pode ser explicada levando em conta que cada série é indicada por um episódio específico e In Treatment é feita para ser vista em seqüência, como se fosse novela. No fundo, eu achava que Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles poderia arrumar uma vaguinha, mas sabia que era quase impossível. E como dessas aí, cinco serão cortadas no dia 17 de julho, meu palpite para as indicadas é: Mad Men, House MD, Damages, The Wire e Dexter. Quero muito, mas Lost deve ficar de fora - de novo!

Se entre os dramas não houve surpresas, o mesmo não se pode dizer das comédias. Como assim Family Guy? Um desenho indicado entre as séries? Seja como for, FG chega para tomar o lugar da até então intocável Desperate Housewives, presença certa em qualquer bolão por aí. Fora isso, o esperado, a não ser, talvez, a ausência de Californication, o que não chega a ter a mesma dimensão das ausências de Desperate  e In Treatment. Meu palpite: 30 Rock, The Office, Weeds, Pushing Daisies e Ugly Betty. Se bem que não se deve ignorar Entourage, Curb e Two And A Half Men. Entrando uma das três, minha amada The Office e o hit Ugly Betty correm um grande risco de cairem fora do Emmy.
