ベイビーが生まれる前から「別れ話」が出てたようですが、なんとか持ちこたえてきたようです。理由は「ニコールが仕事を休む気配が無い」「自分のCDレコーディングに無中」「そしてジョエルをシカトするニコール」それでも実際に娘が誕生したときに全てが元通りになったんだとか。（ただの出産前のベイビーブルー？）

I'm in a secure facility doing some testing for my job. Boring, I know but I'm on my blackberry announcing that Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden have broken up. They just had a baby girl last year and the news comes as a little shock, since Joel was a significant factor in Nicole's recovery from a never-acknowledged eating disorder. Does this mean no more double dates for Paris, Benji, Nicole and Joel? Oh well...

Die von dem US-Magazin In Touch Weekly gesponsorte VMA-Afterparty “Idols and Icons” galt als das angesagteste Event am Sonntagabend.

Gefeiert wurde im legendären Chateau Marmont Hotel, wo die Stars zu Scharen einliefen, um Auftritten von Leona Lewis und Good Charlotte beizuwohnen. Samantha Ronson legte auf.

Neben Lindsay Lohan und Paris Hilton waren auch Ryan Phillippe, Christina Aguilera, Michael Phelps, Demi Moore und Katy Perry in Partystimmung.

Der VIP-Bereich, der sich direkt vor der Bühne befand, war so gerammelt voll, dass sogar Joel Madden Probleme hatte, hinter die Absperrung zu gelangen. 

Der Türsteher bemerkte nicht, dass es sich um den Frontmann der Band handelte und ließ ihn mit allen anderen warten.

Auch Paris befand sich ganz vorne, um ihren Lover Benji aus nächster Nähe zu erleben. Bevor dieser sich auf die Bühne begab, hielt sie noch schnell ein Schwätzchen mit Demi Moore and Nicky Hilton. Auffallend abwesend war Nicole Richie, die vermutlich zu Hause blieb, um auf das Baby aufzupassen.

 

Mischa Barton gab Andy Baldwin, dem ehemaligen Kandiaten einer US-Reality-Show einen Korb, als dieser sie ansprach. Er fragte, ob sie sich daran erinnere, dass er sie in den Medien verteidigte, als sie wegen Trunkenheit am Steuer verhaftet wurde.

“Wer sind Sie noch mal?”, fragte Mischa, bevor sie ihm zu verstehen gab, dass sie der Presse keine Beachtung schenke.

 

Während Leona und Good Charlotte abrockten, hielt sich Lindsay auf der unteren Etage bei Sam Ronson auf, wo sie die meiste Zeit des Abends rauchend und Red Bull trinkend neben dem DJ-Pult saß.

La fille de Lionel a averti son chum Joel Madden (Good Charlotte) de se tenir loin de son amie Mary-Kate TROLLsen parce que la mini-pétasse l'aurait royalement cruisé lors d'un souper récent.
