Managing a freshers party seemed so easy when our seniors arranged it for us. We all thought that it

Managing a freshers party seemed so easy when our seniors arranged it for us. We all thought that it would not cost us much time when we would give the same to our juniors. And finally the time came to arrange it. But it was really a headache as nothing seemed to work as it should have been. It was only because some seniors did not want to work in any way but try to loot as much money as possible. They did not realize that it was for juniors. They thought it to be something from where money can be grabbed easily! Only a few people really thought that it was something very special for juniors and what we had to do. We understood what freshers party meant for them, as it was for us when we were juniors. These idiots have forgot how they enjoyed it last year. Really big sh*t heads!

Some of our batch mates told us that their mom weren’t allowing them to go to any such place. What a foolish bluff! At least they should have found a better reason. Did their mom forced them not to go last year when they were juniors? Of course not! Why? Because they only had to come and eat hastily. Not work. They would never ask their mom for things like – ‘mom my boyfriend is asking me for a date? Should I go?’ Then why now for sticking to responsibility? Some said that they had to do something related to self-respect. What the f***! Some guy told some girl something really funny. And that girl had been so dumb to take those things so seriously that everything got messed up within girls. All this took place because that girl had no maturity to think that the boy was just fooling around and nothing else. But God made some with a defect, else the world would have been perfect! So, we pleaded and we even begged till we got so red that no one amongst would think later that we didn't try hard. All our efforts went in vain.

After a months discussion over many topics and over coming some situations, we arranged it. First the girls irritated us and now it was turn of opposite sex - boys. Few of them were really a mess for us as they would not work at all unless everything happened according to them. We were ready even to give the whole charge to them, but they were not ready to lead us!! So, simply they were double crossing us. Then, when it was only 4 days to freshers, my room and a few others took the whole responsibility because we understand how special it was for us and is for juniors. The biggest challenge was booking a hall for party. We had to roam about 75 kms daily for 3 days, to see and pick a good hall because it had to be special! Sleep for only 2 hours a day and no time for studying for 2 of our tests. At last, we got one and our 50% tension went away with booking of hall. Later, we had many disputes with our colleagues because they were not ready to do their assigned tasks. When I really got angry on many of them once, they started taking the steps they were supposed to. I think people today, don't understand when talked politely!

One of our seniors, Rohan Tayade, helped us a lot! If it were not to be him, we wouldn't be able to arrange the party so perefectly. So, finally everything went well as was hoped to be. Our seniors told us that this was the best fresher's party they attended till now. I doubt whether they were telling the truth. Whatever it may be it was good for us. No one amongst our friends complimented us but only our seniors. It was really hurting us a bit for sure.

I learned few things from it. When you arrange something, you should first know what your responsibility is and you are doing it because you understand those the best. But you really need to watch those with you who are not ACTUALLY with you. THEY can ruin precious moments if you are not strong enough to hold back THESE people!
KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE BUT YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER....

As a consequence they are one of four teams contesting the semi-finals at the Scottish Final's day.

St Boswells were put in to bat. They had a steady start but then wickets started to fall. Alexander took four wickets for five runs in his allotted four overs and after a tight display in the field the St Boswells innings closed in the eighteenth over for 56 all out.

The reply started with a four from Scott Beveridge and continued in that fashion. He took most of the strike to rattle up 42 not out in 30 balls. It took just seven overs to complete the win without losing a wicket.

Dumfries get revenge over SMRH
On Saturday APD Dumfries got their revenge for their early season loss by beating SMRH by seven wickets at Nunholm in National Division 2.

This time the influence of their South African professional Motsamai was kept in check when he was bowled by Alexander for just 18 in the SMRH innings.

SMRH fought back with the best partnership of the innings but it was Alexander again that trapped Gamble lbw for 40 to stem the tide at 73 for 3.

A run out precipitated a collapse and the last six wickets fell for just fifteen runs as the innings stalled completely to 119 all out. Patterson and Beveridge shared the wickets between them as the SMRH batsmen struggled.

An early wicket to a lively Motsamai put Dumfries on the back foot but Alan Davidson and Stuart Corbett-Byers batted sensibly and had nursed the score on to 62 when Davidson lost his leg stump. Byers then opened the shoulders and took Dumfries to the win. He reached his fifty, just, and ended on 53 not out.

Meikleriggs do the double over Nunholm

On Sunday a strong Meikleriggs side did the double over Nunholm in Western Union Division 2. The Dumfries side were unable to take wickets to stem the runs and former Dumfries player David Sturgeon fell just five short of a well deserved century. However Preston-Jones got his century in a final total of 304 for 5. In reply Nunholm only edged into respectability scoring 206 for 6 with Graeme Cross reaching a fifty.

Tough Week for the D&G Under-13s

After the D&G Under-15s won the West competition the Under-13s had some hard lessons to learn during their turn. It was a case of could have won, should have won, never going to win and might have won in four defeats with one match cancelled. A young, and small, team kept coming second to some "big good-uns". Although there were some fine individual performances, including from Thompson, Penrose, Dunbar, Alexander and Little, the bowling, batting and fielding never gelled in the same match. A more experienced, wiser and bigger side should fare better next year.

Summer Cricket Camps

These start next week with a Leisure and Sport 4-day camp (2-3:30, ages 5-12) from Mon 28th July and a 3-day Cricket Scotland camp (10-3:30, ages 8-15) from Tue, 5th August. These are at Nunholm in Dumfries. Information and bookings can be obtained from the David Keswick Centre on 01387-269432.

The McKeown Special Project Award was created to fund special artistic and research projects in the KCAI ceramics department. Students may apply for research-based travel or materials and supplies to support the creation of an otherwise cost prohibitive artwork. The application process mimics that of professional grant writing, offering students a skill-building experience in writing proposals as well as the opportunity to advance their work in studio and research.

The 2008 McKeown Grant was awarded to three students: Calder Kamin, Korla Luckeroth, and Casey Whittier...

Calder's awarded proposal for the McKeown Special Project Grant was to investigate contemporary art in New York City looking into the artist’s discovery and the role of the Chelsea gallery by meeting with Lumi Tan, director of Zach Feuer Gallery. Witnessing the professional artists and their work as a commodity at the Armory Show, the international fair of new art. To see and read more on Calder's trip to NYC...click here To learn more about Calder and her work (and listen to her interview with Lumi Tan) visit her website at www.calderkamin.wordpress.com
My McKeown Grant money allowed me to continue to refine my transfer process and image development, to begin testing and using a new translucent clay body, and to continue experimentation with lighting and installation as well as the integration of other mediums such as cloth, paper and ice into my work. I not only found more appropriate light sources for my pieces, I was also able to focus more on the relationship between conceptual content and the presentation of the work. Receiving a McKeown Grant was a great experience and challenge for me."

Greg Scott has all the hockey smarts in the world. The 20-year-old Seattle Thunderbirds winger scored 38 goals and 75 points in 72 games in the defensively tough WHL this season and helped lead the T-Birds to an unlikely playoff berth. His hockey IQ is unquestionable.

As for his non-hockey IQ? Well, just listen to his explanation of his father's chicken farm.

There's another video out there where he explains that his favorite musical artists are Beethoven, Mozart and 50 Cent. Clearly, Greg Scott is a man of discriminating, if not entirely understandable, tastes.

The first tennis camp of the summer holidays was held successfully at the Dumfries Tennis Club throughout this week. An enthusiastic group of Wimbledon wanabees received expert instruction from Club Coach Colin Dunbar.

The camp ran from Monday to Friday from 10-2pm. All standards were catered for with coaching advice and games.

And because this week was such a success, a second camp is actively being considered for the end of the holidays. So watch this space!

The cricket ground at Nunholm is hosting six games in the West Junior Championships this week and next week. The accompanying photograph shows the Dumfries and Galloway Under-15 side welcomed to the ground prior to their first game against Lanarkshire.

For the first time in their history Dumfries Cricket Club have a ground sponsor. As a result they have earned the addition of their name to the ground, hence JMS Nunholm. The Club Chairman, Rory Fergusson, said that "cricket is the business of JMS and it is thanks to their covers and sightscreens supplied to the club over several years that the ground can host these games and was also asked this year to host representative games for such as the Scotland Women and the East Academy".

"Our relationship with JMS was further enhanced with their delivery of an excellent new 3-lane net facility last year and we are actively developing our long standing association to benefit the club and the cricket facilities in the region which they have helped to make some of the best in Scotland."

The D&G U15s went on to register two wins over Lanarkshire and Clyde in their first two games at JMS Nunholm.

Okay, so I'm 4 days late. I was going to watch it when it aired, but in my timezone, that would be 6 AM. So I set my alarm, but when it went off, I just thought, "NUOOOO. MORE SLEEP PLZzzzz"

IT

IS

AMAZING.

Just by reading the plot summary on DramaWiki, I could understand most of what went on. The one for Mawang made more sense to me than the one for Maou, though.

Naruse's brother(?) and Serizawa

Sooo I was being extremely biased and fangirly while taking screencaps, so it's mostly Ohno and Toma. But the rest of the cast was outstanding as well, especially the big-eyed girl (Kobayashi Ryoko). I couldn't understand what anyone was saying, but just by watching it I could follow a lot.

I can't wait for the next episode, and I will definitely be waking up at 6!

SHAMUS Liptrot is still learning to walk but he dreams of one day getting back on his bike.

The 18-year-old South Australian cyclist suffered devastating injuries when he hit a light pole at last year's Devonport Carnival.

When transferred home from the Royal Hobart Hospital in March, Shamus was communicating with his family by blinking.

He has since made enormous progress - amazing doctors with his recovery.

Later this week when Coastal cyclists Callan Walker and Sam Brett walk into his Adelaide hospital room and say hello, their friend will finally be able to reply.

''Scrub in! Stand out!'' was the theme of Xavier University College of Nursing General Assembly held last Saturday, 19th day of July 2008 in Xavier University Gym.

*Scrub in- a sure thing of being a nursing student is that you are really bombarded with tough subjects and head pounding tasks. So with that, you would really be scrubbing yourself with the time and energy available in you. It might be tiresome, but I know it's fun doing it.
*Stand out- Standing out amidst the academic pressures, that is what the XUCN studentry and Clinical Instructors and staffs with the Dean, of course, is trying to shout! Proving that we can be the best, not only in academics, but also in extra-curricular activities.

Go Xavier University-College of Nursing!
