Die Gegner der deutschen Vereine im Überblick:

• FC Bayern München trifft in der Gruppe F der Champions League auf Olympique Lyon, Steaua Bukarest und den AC Florenz - definitiv eine der leichteren Gruppen der Champions League.
  Härtester Konkurrent wird wohl Olympique sein: Die Mittelfeldachse mit Juninho, Ederson, Jean Makoun und Kim Källström ist bemerkenswert, im Sturm ist der französische Torschützenkönig und EM-Teilnehmer Karim Benzema eine Gefahr. Auch die Abwehr präsentiert sich wohl sortiert: Fabio Grosso und Cris, der mehrfach zum besten Spieler Frankreichs gewählt wurde, agieren in der Abwehr. Es wird interessant zu sehen sein, wie Bayern Lyon über die Flügel zu knacken versuchen wird.
  Zu Steaua Bukarest muss man nicht viele Worte verlieren. Glaubt man den Statistiken von Transfermarkt.de, dann ist der gesamte Steaua-Kader (etwa 27,4 Mio. €) weniger wert als Franck Ribéry (30 Mio. €) oder Luca Toni (28,5 Mio. €) alleine. Eine Niederlage ist nicht zu erwarten.
  Bei AC Florenz sieht es in dieser Beziehung anders aus. Mit Adrian Mutu gibt es einen Mittelfeldspieler vom Kaliber eines Ribéry, mit Giampaolo Pazzini (wurde mehrfach mit Auszeichnungen im Junioren-Bereich bedacht) und vor allem Nationalstürmer Alberto Gilardino, der vor der Saison vom AC Mailand in die Toskana wechselte und in 25 Länderspielen neun Tore erzielte, existiert auch Qualität im Sturm. Die Bayern-Defensive wird hier wohl am meisten gefordert werden, um diese drei Offensiven aus dem Spiel zu nehmen.
• Werder Bremen wurde gemeinsam mit Inter Mailand, Panathinaikos Athen und Anorthosis Famagusta in Gruppe B gelost. Auch für die Mannschaft von der Weser ist ein Weiterkommen eigentlich Pflicht.
  Gegen Inter Mailand wird es die Elf von Thomas Schaaf extrem schwer haben. Eine exzellente Defensive, ein stark besetztes Mittelfeld um Esteban Cambiasso und ein herausragender Sturm mit Persönlichkeiten wie Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic und Hérnan Crespo - dazu José Mourinho auf der Bank. Die Bremen werden es wohl schon als Erfolg feiern, dem amtierenden italienischen Meister ein Unentschieden abzutrotzen.
  Panathinaikos könnte unter Umständen zu einem Stolperstein für Werder werden. Vor allem der Stürmer Dimitrios Salpingidis ist hier zu nennen, in der Champions-League-Qualifikation war er in drei Spielen an drei Toren beteiligt (zwei selbst erzielt, eines vorbereitet), in der letzten Spielzeit erzielte er in Griechenland 15 Tore in 29 Spielen, außerdem noch vier Treffer in sieben UEFA-Cup-Spielen. Bemerkenswert ist auch der Österreicher Andreas Ivanschitz im Mittelfeld, der bei der EM durchaus auf sich aufmerksam machte und einer der besten Österreicher des Turniers war. Auch Georgios Karagounis, der in der Vergangenheit für Inter Mailand und Benfica Lissabon spielte, ist einer der besseren Spieler des Panathinaikos-Mittelfelds. Auch Gilberto Silva, vor der Saison vom FC Arsenal gewechselt, gibt der Mittelfeldachse von Athen Stabilität und sichert vor allem defensiv ab. Der große Brasilianer wird mit seiner enormen internationalen Erfahrung Diego aus dem Spiel zu nehmen versuchen - und es scheint nicht ganz unrealistisch zu sein, wenn man davon ausgeht, dass der Bremer dabei nicht vollkommen befreit wird aufspielen können.
  Anorthosis Famagusta hat etwa die Qualität eines deutschen Zweitligisten. Der bekannteste Name im Team der Zyprer dürfte neben Abwehrspieler Traianos Dellas, der bei der EM für Griechenland spielte und auch schon vier Jahre zuvor beim Titelgewinn für die Rehhagel-Elf spielte, der Ex-Aachener Jeffrey Leiwakabessy sein. Allerdings sind die Zypern-Teams auch für ihre Heimstärke bekannt, einen Auswärtssieg im Schongang sollte Bremen keinesfalls einkalkulieren.
• Schalke 04 ist nach dem Aus in der Champions-League-Qualifikation nun gegen Apoel Nikosia gefordert. Bekannte Namen sind auch hier Mangelware, hervorzuheben ist allenfalls Nuno Morais (Ex-FC-Chelsea) und Kamil Kosowski, der bei der WM 2006 für Polen spielte. Ein eher leichter Gegner für die Königsblauen.
• Beim HSV-Gegner Unirea Urziceni mach ich's kurz: Ich kenne die Rumänen nicht, keiner der Spieler hat einen Marktwert in annähernder Millionenhöhe. Würde der HSV rausfliegen, wäre es eine unglaubliche Blamage.
• Auch der VfB Stuttgart muss in den Ostblock, genauer gesagt zu Cherno More Varna. Keine bekannten Namen, ein eher belangloser Gegner, der mit Milen Petkov einen ehemaligen bulgarischen Nationalspieler in seinen Reihen hat. Wie beim HSV gilt auch hier: Eine Niederlage wird peinlich.
• Hertha BSC zieht es nach Irland, der Gegner heißt St. Patrick's Athletic. Im europäischen Fußball sicherlich ein kleines Licht, aber dennoch sehr kampfstark. Spielerisch wird man von den Iren wenig erwarten, aber sie werden sich sehr lange wehren und immer auf die Sensation hoffen: Ein Konter und alles ist möglich.
• Der VfL Wolfsburg hat zumindest einen nicht gänzlich unbekannten Gegner zugelost bekommen: Rapid Bukarest. Die Rumänen sind regelmäßig im UEFA-Cup vertreten und haben auch durchaus Spieler mit Qualität in ihren Reihen: Der brasilianische Stürmer Júlio César spielte bereits sechs Partien in der Champions League und erzielte dort zwei Tore, der Montenegriner Radomir Dalovic spielte vor einigen Jahren für Arminia Bielefeld in der Bundesliga und konnte in der Nationalmannschaft drei Treffer in vier Partien feiern - und 18 Tore in 31 Spielen in der vergangenen Spielzeit der kroatischen Liga (für NK Rijeka) sprechen für sich.
• Den bekanntesten Gegner hat sicherlich Borussia Dortmund. Udinese Calcio hat laut Transfermarkt.de einen Kader mit höherem Marktwert als der Ruhrpott-Verein. Für Qualität stehen unter anderem der Schweizer EM-Teilnehmer Gökhan Inler, der vor der Saison ein Angebot des FC Arsenal über 25 Mio. € ablehnte, und die beiden italienischen EM-Teilnehmer Antonio di Natale und Fabio Quagliarella (beide im Sturm). Sicherlich einer der schwierigeren Gegner, aber keinesfalls eine unlösbare Aufgabe.
• INSGESAMT haben also alle deutschen Klubs sehr gute bis ausgezeichnete Chancen, die erste Runde der internationalen Wettbewerbe zu überstehen. Hoffen wir mal, dass der deutsche Fußball sich heuer auf dem europäischen Parkett wieder etwas besser aufgelegt präsentiert als es die Champions-League-Qualifikation mit Schalke und die nicht immer souveränen UEFA-Cup-Quali-Auftritte der deutschen Vereine befürchten lassen.

Dimitar Berbatov van Tottenham Hotspur zou de eerste keus van Ferguson zijn. Maar ook worden Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax),  Karim Benzema (Olympique Lyon) en David Villa (Valencia) als potentiële versterkingen gezien.

A Ferguson cada día se le complican más las cosas. Mientras que su estrella portuguesa, Cristiano Ronaldo, ‘tontea’ con el Madrid para cerrar su posible fichaje por el club blanco, la llegada de un sustituo del luso, en este caso Berbatov, se complica cada día más. Y es que la relación entre el técnico inglés y el presidente del Totenham, Levy, donde milita actualmente Berbatov, es muy tensa, según afirma el diario inglés Times, lo que podría dificultar la llegada del jugador búlgaro a Manchester.

Por su parte, Sir Alex Ferguson, ya tiene en la recámara jugadores para poder suplir la salida de Cristiano y la ‘no llegada’ de Bervatov. Samuel Etoo, Roque Santa Cruz, Karim Benzema y el internacional español David Villa, que suena con fuerza para incorporarse a las filas del Real Madrid.

A la espera de lo que finalmente ocurra con el caso Cristiano Ronaldo, el Manchester tantea el mercado para no verse sorprendido si el jugador portugués finalmente abandona el club con destino Madrid.

Anh sẽ là một sự lụa chọn phù hợp để bổ sung cho cặp đôi Carlos Tevez và Wayne Rooney, sự sắc sảo mà Man Utd đã thiếu mất trong mùa bóng trước.

Ferguson vừa phát biểu rằng ông sẽ không mang về đội bóng của mình nhiều hơn một tên tuổi mới mùa hè này, và vị trí được chờ đợi hơn cả là một tiền đạo mũi nhọn.

Let me go straight into the post. First up, it's Karim Benzema. The French hotshot had hinted that he would rather join Real Madrid than Manchester United when he opts to leave Lyon a few weeks back. All this came amidst speculation taht he would replace Ronaldo at United. But now we know that it is not going to happen. Frankly speaking I'd welcome a move for Benzema. He's brilliant and we need a striker. So it'd sort of be an ideal deal for us if it at all happens.

I like Real Madrid, but I think that I'm still too young to sign for a club like that. I think that I need to get more experience and I'd like to help Lyon be a European champion. Then, in the future, we'll see what happens.

Lyon becoming European Champions is seemingly impossible and shows how young he really is. Grow up dude! But as I was dreaming about a potential move for him to the Bernabeu Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas ruled out any chance of him leaving this summer and tipped him to stay at the club for a further two years. Also, contrasting to what Benzema had earlier said Aulas admitted that he knew Benzema is attracted by Barcelona and would rather join them than go to Real Madrid. Clearly all Frenchmen aren't like Zizou.

All this Ronaldo talk has clearly made Robinho a target for many clubs across Europe. Sergio Ramos too is said to have attracted a few top clubs. Both the right sided players have been involved in speculation surrounding a potential move to Man United or Chelsea. Brazilian play-maker Robinho has previously admitted that United and Chelsea have enquired as to his availability, while his agent Wagner Ribeiro confirmed that Premier League clubs have approached his client. Spanish international defender Ramos is another who is believed to have interested Chelsea in the past, while United are keen to find a long-term replacement for Gary Neville at right-back. But Ramos made it clear that though he has a liking for United, he is certainly very happy at Real and is not considering a move whereas Robinho feels that if the situation requires him to go away from Real he will be happy to do so. I really hope that doesn't happen. For heaven's sake he was our the player of the season from last time out. If he is sold and Ronaldo doesn't come we'll be looking like suckers!

Meanwhile, bright young talent in Daniel Parejo has attracted interest from Arsenal and also Liverpool. He plays for our Castilla side and is considered to be one of the best there. Parejo played a leading role in Spain Under-19s European Championship victory and that led to interest from Liverpool. But now Arsene Wenger's scouts are taking a keen interest in Parejo. But his agent confirmed that Parejo wishes to remain in Spain despite all the interest. Well done!

I guess our hunt for a striker is still on. We are looking at David Villa, with whom I'm totally in love with. He has been simply outstanding for Spain in Austria-Switzerland and if he does move to Real from Valencia I'd definitely be the happiest person in the world. But we can't buy him and bench him can we? Another star from Euro 2008, but in this case a Dutch-Madridista, Wesley Sneijder has insisted he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid after being linked with Manchester United. Now, where did that come from?!?

Andrei Arshavin, the Russian-Zidane/Russian-Maradona or if were to give him a title, the Russian-Riqueleme has said that more than England or Germany he wants a move to Spain. I would have thought about linking him with us if we didn't have enough Arshavin's already in Guti and Sneijder. The lad seems to be good and is masterminding a Russian surge at Euro 2008. Sad that they have to face Spain next. Bye Bye Russia!!

To be fair, they had a disastrous start. Franck Ribery was the one player they absolutely couldn't afford to lose, but he succumbed to what looks like a really nasty ankle and knee injury (there's no word yet on how long he'll be out, but I'm guessing a good couple of months at least) after only seven minutes. The second disaster was entirely their fault, however - Eric Abidal (who despite noises from the BBC has proved himself in the past to be a competent centre-back as well as left-back) made a rash, doomed-to-failure challenge on Luca Toni in the penalty box for the clearest straight red I've seen in a while. It was at that point that Raymond Domenech proved there was no way back - he brought on Jean-Alain Boumsong to solve all their problems.

We should have seen this coming. France rested on their laurels far too much after a flattering trip to the World Cup final and relied on fast-fading old hands like Thuram, Makelele and Henry. The former two have now announced their international retirements (again), in the first of what must be a series of radical overhauls of the team. Benzema, Ribery and Nasri must become the focus, and Henry, Vieira, Govou, Sagnol, Coupet et al must be jettisoned.

In the game I didn't see so much of (I caught a few minutes after it became clear that France-Italy wasn't going anywhere), Holland's second string (and what a second string it is, by the way) cruised to a 2-0 win over Romania, slicing through the defence that had caused so many problems to the French and Italians to further boost their hopes of going all the way. Their goals were far too easy, showing up the Romanians a tad, but Mutu et al will remain threats in World Cup qualifying.

So Italy set themselves up a mouth-watering quarter-final with Spain in what is probably the best result for the quality of the tournament. From what we've seen so far, though, you'd bet on Spain.

The coach's reaction? One of disbelieving laughter. It had been a night where everything that could go wrong for his team, did go wrong. Captain Lillian Thuram was left out due to concerns over his attitude, which marks a sad end to international football for the French's most capped star. They lost the influential midfielder Franck Ribery to injury, then the opening goal on 25 minutes thanks to Andrea Pirlo's penalty after Abidal hauled down Luca Toni to earn an early bath. Ribery's replacement, Arsenal target Samir Nasri, then had to be sacrificed for defender Jean-Alain Boumsong before Daniele De Rossi despatched a free kick via a big deflection from Henry into the net to clinch a quarter final with Spain for the World Champions.

Whilst Roberto Donadoni's team have recovered from their opening defeat to the Netherlands, France haven't got going in the tournament. Indeed, even during qualification they very rarely looked the impressive force they were in 1998 and 2000, and in the latter stages of the 2006 World Cup. Scotland defeated them twice in the qualifiers and in the match in Paris (the glory goal below), we rarely looked troubled; France lacked any imagination or craft to fashion any clear cut openings.

And it was a similar story in their snore draw with Romania. The Romanians were content to sit in and see if Domenech's team could break them down- they couldn't. Indeed, France could've lost it towards the end as Romania adopted a bloder approach.

They then took on the Dutch, who have taken the tournament by storm with their fast, free flowing attacking style. And they showed no mercy, inflicting a painful 4-1 thrashing to set up last night's make or break game with Italy, providing Romania failed to beat Marco Van Basten's team.

But it all went spectacularly wrong for the 2 time European Champions and they have to endure the humiliation of finishing bottom of the "group of death" with just one goal to their name. Domenech last night looked like a man about to pay for the price of failure- his look in the camera shot I mentioned had one of resignation about it.

France may be lacking the creative genius of a Michel Platini or Zinedine Zidane currently, but they have enough gifted stars to have made a better fist of things. The likes of Henry, Claude Makalele and Franck Ribery are established world class stars, playing for some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Added to that they have rising stars such as Lyon's Karim Benzema and Nasri to call upon. They are not a side lacking in talented players.

The buck ultimately stops with the manager and it seemed to me that some of the players had lost confidence in Domenech. His team, for most of his tenure, looked unconvincing and with the likes of Makalele and Thuram retiring from the international scene, a fresh start all round could be wise for France as they build towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Au' revoir Domenech and bonjour Didier Deschamps? I would not be surprised.

Según el rotativo británico Sunday People, y que difunde este martes As, Abramovich tiene listo para su próximo desembarco en el mercado 125 millones de euros y su objetivo prioritario es el Kun Agüero.

Además quiere que su técnico, el israelí Avram Grant compita en igualdad de condiciones con Manchester o Arsenal.

El Chelsea estuvo invirtiendo en estrellas en los últimos años, pero ahora quiere cambiar el paso y centrarse en contratar futbolistas jóvenes de manera que la inversión, a la larga, se amortice.

Según Sunday People, Kun no es el único. Además, Grant tiene también en la cabeza los nombres de Karim Benzema y Gareth Barry.

No es la primera vez que Abramovich sueña con el Kun e intensificará sus tentativas a medida que se vaya acercando el final de la temporada, sobre todo si no consigue ganar ni un solo título.

Agüero, por su parte, ya dejó claro alguna vez a través de su representante que el Chelsea y la Premier no están ahora entre sus deseos a pesar de los halagos de Abramovich.

No es tan nuevo que el jóven Karim Benzema esté acaparando las miradas en el futbol francés, pero hasta ahora tuve el tiempo de poner este artículo sobre él.

Seré sincero. Hasta hace algunos meses apenas supe de él, por pura coincidencia. Estaba en un local donde venden periódicos, revistas y botanas acá en Chile y de reojo vi un número de la revista francesa Onze (creo que sí era ésa y así se llama) en donde aparecía un jugador al que yo no conocía. Me fui pero la siguiente vez decidí fijarme en quién era. Entonces supe que se llama Karim Benzema, que juega en el Lyon y es la nueva joyita de los franceses (joyita porque tiene veinte años).

Entonces ahora ya saben que existe un excelente (lo digo porque ya lo vi en acción y ya es de mis favoritos) jugador francés llamado Karim Benzema, que es delantero central del Olympique Lyonnais y al que podríamos ver pronto en el Real Madrid o algún otro club de ese prestigio, y no lo digo sólo porque sí, sino que ya hay interés por él.

Nació el 19 de diciembre de 1987 en Lyon, aunque su familia es de la misma ciudad de Argelia que Zinedine Zidane, tiene obviamente rasgos de aquella zona y mide 1.85.

Si pueden ver algún partido del Lyon en TV5 o Gol TV, véanlo, en serio les va a gustar el estilo del equipo y van a disfrutar viendo jugar a Benzema, que ha dado cada vez más de qué hablar, pues de hecho ha marcado goles en Champions League últimamente. Es más, recuerdan a un jugador que celebra como si disparara un bazooka o estuviera boxeando? Pues él es precisamente, y sus goles han sido muy buenos.

Karim Benzema est un des joueurs les plus courtisés de l’Europe et beaucoup le considèrent déjà comme le Ronaldo français. L’avant centre spectaculaire de l’Olympique de Lyon est suivi très de près par les grands du Vieux Continent, et le Real Madrid est une des équipes qu’essayera d’attacher de ses services. Dans une entrevue accordée à la Gazzetta dello Sport , Benzema a reconnu sans admiration au club Blanc : j’ai toujours encouragé le Real Madrid . Sans aucun doute de grandes nouvelles pour l’équipe blanc, bien que l’attaquant ait aussi dit que le Milan me fait rêver et qu’aussi il aime la Juventus, l’Inter et Manchester United.

Voilà une déclaration qui pourrait donner des indications quant à la future destination du prodige lyonnais Karim Benzema. L’attaquant de l’OL a en effet révélé à la Gazzetta Dello Sport qu’en dépit de son attirance pour le Real Madrid, le Milan AC ne le laissait pas insensible. « Le Milan AC me fait rêver surtout parce que Ronaldo, mon idole, y joue. Bon ça fait un peu moche la présentation, mais l'équipe claque, il n'y a rien à dire. Pas de Ronaldinho, de Messi ou de Rooney, mais que mes joueurs préférés (j'avoue, je me suis limitée sur les lyonnais parce que sinon il y aurait eu toute l'équipe). Sinon Vercoutre et pas Coupet? C'est parce que c'est mas dream team de l'année 2007 et Rémy Vercoutre a vraiment fait une super fin d'année. Sans lui, je ne sais pas où l'OL serait (enfin, si en Coupe de l'UEFA et encore). Et Cris, c'est sur qu'il n'a pas beaucoup joué mais en tout cas il nous a beaucoup manqué.

Voilà, j'ai aussi pensé aux remplaceants: Coupet, Squillaci, Quaresma, Nasri, Jesus Navas, David Villa et bien sûr Hatem Ben Arfa.
