With the help of a tutorial from Layers Magazine website, I constructed this logotype of my company Blah-Dow! Multimedia, with some southern style y'all, lol. It is an extension of effort to become more and more comfortable with using Adobe Illustrator. Much of this was done using Illustrator filters (something I messed with for the very first time today). Feedback is gladly appreciated.

These are the logotypes for my upcoming project. the idea of An Alien meets A Bug is a very nice concept. further after a few hours browsing on the internet I found this amazing types' play and logo created by Machine56 and it suprised me.
Just take a peek and then began to play with my Adobe Illustrator CS2 to make my own style of the Logotypes.

Maybe it will look similar somehow but yes, the original art work of Machine56 is really inspiring.

INTERVIEW:

Logosvet: Hello David, where are you from?

David: Hi, I am from Lausanne in Switzerland :^)

Logosvet: You finished some design school, or you are "self-made" designer?

David: I went to art and communication school in Lausanne after which I used the theory learned to create the dache brand.

Logosvet: Tell me something about branding yourself. What dache means, and tell me something about your beautiful logo.

David: Originally I thought about many names for the brand however I ultimately wanted it to represent me and my works. The mix of David and Pache seemed to capture this in a neat and catchy way. My design studio's logo is a mix of the letter 'd' and a '+' symbol, which together represent my out-of-the box approach to design, using the colours of the Swiss flag.

Logosvet: I saw your works, and I think that they are magnificent. Where are you finding ideas?

David: I find that my surroundings enable me to create designs that are contemporary, innovative and unique. I take added inspiration from music, sculpture, the suprematism art movement and the works of painters such as Picasso and Mondriaan which interest me greatly.

Logosvet: What you will recommend to young designers? How to "brainstorm"?

David: Once I have acquired a new project I find that it in order for the ideas to develope I must first establish a few different approaches before thoroughly sketching the initial concepts. From there it is a case of researching and resketching until the optimal result is achieved. I would recommend all designers carry on them a sketch pad because you never know when a really good idea will occur to you.

Logosvet: Do you have your favorite logo? If you have, tell me something about.

David: AfricanTradition is the logo which gives me the greatest pride, as it was one of my first projects. I feel I achieved a timeless piece which has proved itself by receiving multiple acknowledgements from the design community. It is a project which I am sentimental towards, as I feel it was the turning point of my career which evolved my work to the professional level which I was initially aiming for.

Logosvet: And for the end of this short interview, recommend us some artist that we must interview.

David: I was recently featured on http://www.webdesignerwall.com, a resourceful and beautiful example of contemporary web design created by Nick La whom Id think would prove a very interesting interviewee for you.

The african symbol is called a chiwara (or Chi Wara, or ciwara, depending on who you ask). It’s a Malian symbol representing agricultural fertility. Inspiration for this was an african statue and the work of Giacometti.

However, little is known about the person behind the Google logo and how the artist came up with it. The purpose of this post is to introduce its original creator, as well as the process of how the logotype was finally created.

First let's introduce the artist responsible for the famous logo. Her name is Ruth Kedar. She is an artist and designer born in Brazil. Later she moved to Israel where she received a degree in Architecture from the Technion---Israel Institute of Technology. In an effort to obtain a Masters in Design, she traveled to the U.S. to study at Stanford University. Her destiny was being forged.

She was a Consultant Art Professor at the Stanford Art Department from 1988 to 1999. It was while at Stanford that she was commissioned to design the Google logotype by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

Kedar met Google co-founders through a mutual friend nine years ago at Stanford University, where she was an assistant professor. Page and Brin, who were having trouble coming up with a logo for their soon-to-launch search engine, asked Kedar to come up with some prototypes. "I had no idea at the time that Google would become as ubiquitous as it is today, or that their success would be of such magnitude," Kedar says.

"There were a lot of different color iterations", Kedar says, "We ended up with the primary colors, but instead of having the patterns go in order, we put a secondary color of the L, which brough back the idea that Google doesn't follow the rules."

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
