I must say it was a slow week musically until i came across some more great stuff from The Phantoms Revenge. Expect chopped up disco samples and heavy beats and theres even a remix from Louis La Roche. (For those of you who are unfamiliar you can check him out here) But its the original of Absolute Ego Riot that is my favorite tune this week, somewhere about halfway through the groove flips and well it makes the song really... Also a notable mention goes to 'Sunrise 5:30AM' for one of the biggest builds i've heard in recent times....

Ahhh disco. The most superficial, least heterosexual, least 'meaningful' genre of music to every be put to record. But how can you deny the groove?!? You can't. Disco was where it all began, the remix, the syncopated bass lines and the unruly, almighty, 4 to the floor beat. Like it or not modern dance music owes almost everything it is to disco in one form or the other, whether its Italo, Hi-NRG, Space Disco or Laser Boogie. I, being from America(who if you've forgotten killed disco) sometimes have trouble getting people to understand my love of disco. It usually ends with people concluding I listen to 'gay' music, which is sometimes hard to argue against. But I also never fail to give them an example of disco music which they can't appreciate. Today I have some solid tracks which are not necessarily disco themselves, as much as modern takes on the style.

First up is a grandiose remix of Ashford & Simpson(via Solid Goldberger).

Hace algunos meses, en el blog británico headphone sex, alguien bajo el nombre de "TB" de daftalive posteó una canción llamada "love", la cual causó una gran conmoción en la red ya que todos se imaginaban que era Thomas Bangalter en persona, (aka robot 1 de Daft punk) quien había hecho tan rítmica y francesa canción y había decidido compartirla aquel amoroso 14 de febrero como un regalo para todos sus fans...

...pues que creen... no era así

Louis La Roché es un chico de Inglaterra de sólo 17 años que empezó siendo un dj de de recamara (como muchos de nosotros, que pena) y de repente un día por ocio (eso dice él) hizo una canción que se llama love que difundió entre su pequeño grupo de amigos.

Pues a "alguien" se le hizo divertido e interesante hacerse el Thomas y postearla en headphone sex.

Días después; Monkey y Gabo presumiendo el nuevo hit de Bangalter.

Después de varias polémicas, Louis la Roché logro aclarar su autoría y al mismo tiempo volverse famoso mundialmente, y es que en verdad, sus tracks son muy buenos, con un sonido que recuerda a ese house frances, que yo en lo especial extraño. Louis ha recibido propuestas de varias personas para tours, conciertos, grabaciones y entrevistas...

Yablog se dio a la tarea de buscar a este vato y contactar con él para traerles a ustedes nuestra primera entrevista en el blog.

Yablog: Sabes, creo es necesario que te preguntemos acerca de tu canción "Love" y la polémica que hubo a su alrededor.

La Roché: Jaja..Me lo han preguntado tantas veces...

Yablog: Sí, lo sé.

La Roché: Dudo que algún día lo dejen de hacer.

Yablog: Sí, pero, es así como como comienza mi primera pregunta... ¿Como te sientes acerca de eso? ¿Crees que ha traído cosas buenas o que fue como una maldición?

La Roché: Pues yo no lo veo de esa manera. Es la música la que cuenta. Quiero que la gente me compare con el house francés por completo. no sólo con Bangalter. Ya sé que el es el padrino del house francés, si así lo quieres. Pero hay mucho más house francés.

Yablog: ¿Sabes de todo este movimiento musical "new rave " como Justice (que alguien alguna vez dijo eran los dueños de la legacía Daft punk, cosa que no creo realmente), Klaxons, Crystal Castles? ¿Qué opinas de ellos?

La Roché: Es Un montón de mierda que NME inventó, digo ¿New rave? Claramente eso seria trance... En los ojos de NME, new rave es sólo otra forma de llamarle al Indie rock. No me malinterpretes, no hay nada de malo con The Klaxons, Crystal Castles, etc.; pero no es new rave. Es Música llamada incorrectamente. Sólo porque The Klaxons han hecho covers de canciones rave ahora los llaman new rave... Es indie rock. Como dije, el new rave es basicamente trance.

Yablog: Estoy de acuerdo. ¿Cual es tu nombre real?

La Roché: Brett Ewels.

Yablog: ¿Por que Louis la Roché?

La Roché: Bueno pues de pronto me encontré haciendo house frances junto con el electro que ya hacía, así que necesitaba un nuevo nombre. Se nos ocurrió a mí y a mi novia.

Yablog:¿Tiene algún mensaje oculto o es algo especial para ti?

La Roché:No realmente, jaja... Louis the Rock, sólo se escucha padre. Bueno Al menos soy honesto.

Yablog: Sabes, la siguiente pregunta es como de rutina. ¿Sabes de música de Mexico?

La Roché: No te podría decir que sí.

Yablog: Jajaja.

La Roché: Cuando pienso en Mexico pienso en hombre con grandes bigotes. Ah, y luchadores mexicanos, jaja... perdón.

Yablog: Ese es uno de los problemas mexicanos, mucha gente tiene esa idea, no te preocupes.

La Roché: Si, la gente piensa en Inglaterra como personas muy elegantes o como hooligans del futbol.

Yablog: ¿Dónde te ves dentro de dos años? O bien, ¿dónde te gustaría verte dentro de dos años?

La Roché: Pues siendo más conocido, con suerte tener al menos ya dos sencillos lanzados junto con una disquera, ¿talvez un álbum?

Yablog: ¿Por ahora tienes algún tour? ¿Como en Inglaterra?

La Roché: Por ahora todo esta en etapa de planeación, se supone que primero será en UK, después en Europa, y ojalá después en América.

Yablog: ¿Te gustaría venir a México? (Ya sabes, conocer luchadores y gente con bigotote).

La Roché: Me encantaría, he estado teniendo muchas ofertas últimamente, entonces no dudes de que en cualquier momento me llegué una desde México.

Yablog: ¿Cómo empezaste con la música?

La Roché: Empecé siendo un dj de habitación como a los 11-12... Y comencé a producir a los 14 pero no era de manera tan formal. El primero proyecto que empecé se llamaba "Stronghold", eso fue cuando tenia 15. En realidad no me entendía con nada, y apenas estaba encontrando mi estilo. Y luego el año pasado, abril de el año pasado, comencé Night Facilities. Y luego en febrero de este año empecé con Louis...

Yablog: Sí, también he escuchado ese proyecto.

La Roché: Sí, es algo que he querido continuar. Louis suponía ser solo un proyecto de lado. Pero ahora es el principal. Aunque sí, Night Facilities definitivamente continuará.

Yablog: ¿Qué tip le darías a los jóvenes músicos o productores que están comenzando aquí en México?

La Roché: Sólo sigan practicando. Escuchen los sonidos de canciones que les gustan e intenten recrearlos, pero agréguenle su propio toque personal. Intenten hacer algo diferente a lo que todos están haciendo. Experimenten.

Yablog: Eso es muy importante. Últimamente toda la música suena igual.

La Roché: Exacto. Hay demasiados artistas y productores copiando el sonido de Justice.

Yablog: Jajajaja... sí, todos quieren hacer el D.A.N.C.E. ¿Cual es el programa que utilizas para mezclar?

La Roché: ¿Mezclar?, ¿o hacer?

Yablog: Hacer, mezclar.

La Roché: Cuando toco en vivo no uso Ableton. Uso FL Studio y Virtual DJ. Cuando escribo canciones uso FL Studio y Sony Acid Pro.

Yablog: Pues, ha sido un placer platicar contigo, pondremos la entrevista los mas rápido posible. Tu musica es muy buena.

I've been working on and off on this mix for a while and I used it at the party this past weekend. It has a rough start on the first few songs, but it gets into a groove after that (I cut a few songs at the front to meet file size limitations on uploading it). So, check out the mix I've been slaving over. Although, admittedly it was a bad idea to try to make a 4 hour dance mix as it's going to take some heavy drugs for everybody to actually dance that long, I don't know what I was thinking, so the next mix is going to be no longer than an hour and a half. Everyone knows the story with this kid so I won't go there, or discuss the merits of his first offering under this moniker. In terms of emulating 'French Touch' and causing a storm, it's pretty adequate, so we'll leave it at that.

The real news is that Louis is the latest young upstart to jump aboard the NLLR Mixtape franchise, his offering available here on Fader. No love is ever lost when you've got Lee Williams pumping mixes into your inbox twice a week, and Mr La Roche's mix is no exception. Nice track selection, the inclusion of Like Woah!'s 'Oh I Like' being a highpoint for me, not an obvious choice for a filter house mix.

Ook met deze 'ibiza' remix van OUt Of Touch (Hall & Oates), kan je ongeloofelijk marginaal wild gaan. In heel het liedje zeggen ze slechts 1 zin, maar die stem hebben ze echt cool opgesmukt. Het origineel nummer is al goed, deze remix maakt het refrein af. Meezingbaar!

On Valentine's Day someone posted a track called "Love" on the ol' internets.  It was initially assumed to be a heart-shaped gift from Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter.  Turns out, it's actually a track by Louis La Roche.  Either way, I'm hoping it makes it into a DJ Tanner set soon.  Hint Hint: Will Krause.

Wharrup?! The blog has been running extremely well lately and I'm so happy. Interviews with Morgan Page and John Dahlbäck, promotion for John Dahlbäcks new album, the new kid Avici who got great response and Darone with his new remix and so much more. Everything goes so well and I hope this blog will grow even bigger in the future. What do you think? Spread the word about "Go Bananaz!" hehe.

Now, I got one "oldie but goldie" and a couple of other great tracks. I really love these tracks I'm about to post. Let's begin with the oldie but goldie. It comes from "King - Love and Pride". Old classic. Soooo frickin' good. But this is a little remix by Daniel Hoppe. I love it! The vocals fits so well with house music!

Next up is a wonderful housy groove from Jaimie Fanatic & PartySquad. I really love this track. The vocal is nice. Damn, I can't barely stop moving from these grooves! You gotta love this one!

Either way, we kick off with a collaboration between relative newcomers Justice and Soulwax, more specifically Xavier de Rosnay of Justice, who is responsible for the production while David Dewaele of Soulwax is in charge of the mixing. Be that as it may, the track is an absolute killer, this should be anywhere soon enough. Enough chat, here's the track:

Also out is a remix by Para One, the artist in question is j-pop artist Ayumi Hamasaki. Para One has, as per usual, cut up and awesomeified (is that a word? I just made it a word) a rather dreary j-pop track. It comes straight off an upcoming remix album by Ayumi Hamasaki, which will also feature remixes from MSTRKRFT, Armand van Helden, Shinichi Osawa and more. The result can be found below:

Now we get to a bit of a detective case. To sum it all up, a track was posted around Valentine's Day with the unconfirmed title "Thomas Bangalter - Love". However, a certain Louis La Roche soon claimed to be its originator, which later prooved to be correct. Either way, it's great and just below:

Finally, Franck Rivoire aka. Danger, our favourite underrated artist, has been keeping busy and released a great track called "Revolte at 22H10". Glitchy, Danger-esque, awesome! Furthermore, he has been touring in Australia and a recording from his set in Sydney has emerged. Have a listen for some magnificent and intense 51-minute set with the inimitable Danger:
