On Saturday morning, 10/04/08 sometime between 5:30 & 6 a.m. I had a very unusual experience.

I need to preface my account with a little of my history. As a child I had a great deal of fear of sleeping alone due to the experiences I had with so called "sleep paralysis" and the concurrent feeling that there was another being in my room forcing me out of body. I'd have a horribly intense vibratory sensation in my head often centering around my upper lip and nose. I would fight hard to be able to break out of this paralysis and not to be taken out of body.

A few years ago I read Journeys Out of Body and I knew first hand what Robert Monroe was speaking of. As an adult I had fewer of these experiences and since attending the Monroe Institute much less fear of them.
I was awake last night due to sound from upstairs above me starting at 4 a.m. I had a ocean wave noise playing quietly on a small machine nearby. This is a normal practice for me.

Suddenly my face and then my whole body started to vibrate. I was pulled up out of my body and started flying. Wow! It was exhilarating. My mind was totally awake but my body was asleep on the bed. I flew through the night sky which was the slightest predawn grey over land and trees, slowing down over an upscale tasteful exurban neighborhood with older trees and solid architecture.

I seemed to slow down a bit as I could clearly see a few of the well kept homes. And then things got totally strange. I heard a distinct voice speaking into my right ear. It was outside of me. It was not a voice in my head. The sound of this voice was clearly female and it had a mechanical, alien or insectoid quality that was alarming. This is the communication as I remember it: (You should be) "watching what happens to (is happening to) the bees, as it will also happen to" (you) (the human race).

The words in quotes I clearly remember, the ones in parentheses are what I believe I heard. Hearing the voice struck me with overwhelming terror, it was so unexpected, that I quick as lightening drew back into body and fought the sleep paralysis for control of my body, which I regained. I then continued to fight against the vibration for sometime. When I got up at 8 a.m. I was ashamed of myself for lack of courage but it was a gut response, over which I had little, if any, control.

My guess is that the voice could have been a deva (oversoul) of the bees (read super Queen Bee), but that is only a guess.

I now feel compelled to share this message. I submitted it to the Anderson dream site though I was fully conscious when it happened.

I don't know exactly what the message means, but as far as what is happening to the bees on Earth- they are dying due to "Colony Collapse Disorder". The cause could be a chemical Monsanto produces which is used agriculturally. I'm not sure, but the outcome would be far worse than the current economic failure, which is plenty bad enough in itself. The outcome of no bees is no food, because the bees pollinate our crops. No food would mean mass starvation. I don't need to connect any more dots.

A Native American friend of mine had another explanation:
"If you watch the bees, each one, whether worker or queen or other, thinks nothing of itself, but only of others, of its community, being purely of service to others. In this way, but not for any selfish reason, each individual bee is taken care of. See? Each bee is taken care of by virtue of not caring for him/herself AT ALL (complete selflessness), but by caring only for the others. The humans will soon experience this when the society that they currently live under (and have been living under for thousands of years - an heirarchical society, with pyramidal religions, pyramidal economies [corporations, etc.], pyramidal governments, etcetera) collapses completely (look at not later than early 2015). Out of the ashes will truly rise the Phoenix. Peace and Love. Onenkiwahi!"

In reflection, we are leaving a cycle that has been very much about hidden truths and perception.  That sometimes the reality you are operating within is simply not the only reality that is affecting you.  And sometimes something totally surprising happens to show you that hidden realities and perspectives really do affect your world.  It is important to listen, respond, absorb and reflect on what these truths bring to us as we continue to move on.

The last few months of energies have been more intense and with a "cleansing' and preparation effect to get us ready for what is around the corner.  I have been writing about the upcoming annual numerological cycle for years.  Once again, I urge my students to go back and pull out your notes!  Go back over what you've heard me talk about before.  Let me re-emphasize that this is not a surprise type of energy.  This is a pattern that has been in the eons in the making.  But many will be surprised when it arrives.  A philosophical look at chaos theory goes far in understanding what the next hundred year cycle brings.  (Work on your issues, because this will be more uncomfortable to those who haven't done this than for those who have.  Those who have, it is your job to be there for those still figuring out how to do this.)

For now, we move into a cycle of brief respite.  I don't like to write numerology outlooks/predictions completely based on months, because cycles blend in numerology.  They do not start and stop on a dime or a single minute, as many feel in astrology.  And even specific numerological dates blend into each other.  Think of it very much like what happens with an eclipse - the effects can be felt for a few days before and after.  Additionally on our planet as it rotates, there is always a new date in operation on the other side of the world from us, just as there is also an opposite season in operation elsewhere as well.  As in our modern day we become more of an intricate global community, this effect becomes more substantial to all of us.

With that hesitation in mind, October is the month to buy and sell.  October is the month to tackle those projects you've been putting off, especially if requiring significant financial committment.  Now is the time to knock out your holiday shopping and get your plans together for whatever you are doing during T-day and Xmas.  Meditate and prioritize.  Also de-clutter and clarify.  Start listing those items on ebay and craigslist that you've been intending to.  Start freecycling those extras away now.  It will be much harder to do this later.  Do it now.  As I wrote last month - the New Year is laid now, not in January.  Do not wait.  Lay next year's foundation right now.  And the sooner before the last week of the month, the better.   My guides make it very clear - November through the end of the year will not be the easiest for many people. 

As I mentioned previously, October is also the time to pull out something you didn't think was possible and go for it.  Even things you have not invested what would seem to you to be a whole lot of effort, can succeed during this space of energy.  This is the energy that 2008 has generally been about.  We are working with new millenial energies that launch us into new energetic directions.  And in this position of the year, that energy becomes even stronger, with a side kick of extra help from our spiritual guides and Source to facilitate our efforts.  The more you treat this with joy and fun (fear will botch it), the better this will go.  It's risk taking time - in fun.  Enter that contest, apply for that job, sign up for that class and ask that girl out.  It can also be a time to repair things you didn't think could be and a time when forgiveness is more possible than ever.  Things that didn't seem possible before are right now.  And there is something in your life ready for that 2nd calling.  This is great energy to seed something exciting and new - something even totally outside the proverbial box.  Find it now. 

October is also the time to strengthen relationships of all kinds.  Invest the time to gather with friends.  Invest the time to rekindle your romance.  Invest the time into your children's relationship with you and their grandparents, etc. now.  The urge is to strengthen community and those one on one relationships. 

The current cycle is also strong with energy to manifest something new.  Be careful what you wish for!

So that was the first frog.  Then I opened my email (within maybe 30 minutes, maybe less, of the frog joke) and the first email has this subject line:  "Are You Becoming a Boiled Frog?"  Oh-yeah, there is definitely meaning in that kind of lightning fast synchronicity.  The emphasis is on the frog and what it symbolizes...as well as the potent message of the boiled frog.  Very potent, and very much a message we're all needing, especially right now.  Even so, the light-heartedness of the joke with the first frog is telling as well.  So ya' have that light-heartedness and sex with the first one, seriousness and death with the other.  Ah, and the first frog was "cold" and the second was sadly "hot."  And yet, I would characterize the energy of a "light" heart and the sex as "hot" and the seriousness/death would be more of a "cold" kinda energy.  Both frogs were "cold" (complacent) in "hot" environments.  Perhaps the message is that if we are in a "hot" environment, and we don't get "hot" (active, using our positively-channeled anger) we lose, we perish.  I feel this is also pointing to the power of that light-heartedness (playfulness, laughter, fearlessness) and the mega power of our sexuality.

In this moment for me, the frog is about personal power (and I recently got this message via the Grouse totem also).  The frog is very much about healing and transformation, but right in this moment, it's about personal power.  I hardly slept at all last night because of something that happened yesterday and it had spurred lotsa thoughts regarding my own personal power...and that of others.  We've become accustomed to being treated with disrespect in so many areas of our lives, especially at our place of work.  We just "swallow" it when we're treated this way (like a child, or a slave), because we feel we have no choice.  I've never been good at swallowing it...  And yet, I recently read that when we have probs with authority figures, it means we haven't come into our own power.  But being okay with someone guiding and directing us in a respectful way is one thing, treating us like we're less than human (or like a child) is another. 

Yesterday, when a certain authority figure spoke to me in a way that I found unacceptable, I swallowed it,  like most of us do.  And then I took the anger home and tried to process it -- it didn't go well and I was up all night thinking about it.  At one point I was thinking I should use this as motivation to become what I know I have in me to become...  I should take it as a "blessing" that this person shook me up in this way.  Complacency isn't a good thing, so we should be thankful for the bastards in our lives for jarring us out of it ;)  I'd include the other "B" word, but we all know the tyrants are most generally male, heh :)  Seriously, whether physically male or female, our need for excessive control (from excessive and unwarranted fear) comes from our "male" energy (our left brain).

Anyway, the article about the boiled frog shook me up as well.  Such a frightening parallel to our lives in this self-destructive world.  Like the frog, we're swimming mindlessly in water that's getting hotter and hotter -- losing our freedom, our health ...  The frog slowly died, totally oblivious. 

Complacency is deadly.  Will the "bastards" of this world push us far enough, shake us up enough -- before it's too late?  The Power is within us, no question, but will we be shaken enough to "wake up" in time?

It's been awhile since I last posted.  Yet, now is the time to reconnect within this venue....with you, who would lay eyes upon this page.

Creating prosperity should be a natural activity, an intrinsic outcome of all that we are and do. After all we should know the universal laws of attraction and manifestation and use them to create what we want. However, despite our knowledge of these laws, we often seem to be in a situation where things do not flow our way and we experience lack. So we try and understand what went wrong. We work at it and attempt to correct our mistakes. We ask ourselves if our visualization was clear, if we were persistent enough, if we had enough faith, if we pictured ourselves as having what we asked for, or if what we asked for was for our higher good and so on. We have also many individuals telling us about all the details of the laws of the universe in great details to help us out. We are even told not only about the Secret to prosperity, but about the Secret behind the Secret.

All this is good and well and it is true that these laws are good and work to create abundance, yet I cannot help but wonder at the complexity of it all. There are so many books and programs and lessons to learn that I get a little discouraged sometimes to ever know it all and get it perfect.

This is when I try and step back and look at things from a different perspective. While I am not an accomplished scholar, I know a little about the Bible and the Old and New Testaments. I know how the Old Testament contains the Ten Commandments and many other laws and precepts that should be obeyed to be a spiritual and successful person. I then look at the New Testament and notice Jesus’ two simple but powerful Commandments and I cannot help but draw a parallel.

I believe that when we try following the manifestation laws to attract abundance, we often are using the old ways. We are trying to follow the letter of the laws of the Universe to get what we want and it is not enough. But if we try to follow the Spirit of the Law, we may only need to consider the two laws of the New Testament. These are simply: “You shall love God with all your heart, mind, body and strength” and “You shall love yourself as you love your neighbor.” Now this looks pretty simple if not obvious to do, but why should we even consider following these two Commandments and hope to create the abundance we seek in our lives. Should we ignore the laws of attraction and manifestation and hope to create what we want just by loving God, ourselves, and our neighbor?

Well let us consider what the underlying assumptions behind those two commandments are. I am sure that you have also heard the saying to put “God first and all these things shall be added unto you.” This in essence explains why the First commandment to Love God is so critical to our abundance. How is that? Simply because of whom we are and what we are here to do and be. If we can remember to see ourselves as Children of God who are meant to be Co-Creators with him, we remember both our true identity and our purpose for being here. We give answers to the biggest questions in our lives. By remembering who we are, we acknowledge that the Divine within us is the Source of our prosperity, the Power by which we manifest it, and the Worth that makes us deserving of it.

As for the Second Commandment to Love yourself as your neighbor, it reminds us that to have access to that which we have and are, we must accept it in our minds and hearts first. We must love ourselves enough to know that all that we want that is good for us is really the Divine in us trying to create more and express more. And we must remember that all our brothers and sisters who want the same are as deserving of it as we are. If we are to access our own Heritage, we cannot try to separate them from theirs. They are as worthy as we are. The reason for this is that we are all One in Spirit which is our true nature. To try and separate another in our minds from their own good is to separate ourselves from our own good. In reality, all is connected and only in our minds can we separate ourselves from all we are and have.

So what has love got to do with it? Well in one word: everything. The nature of love is that it is the most magnetic and unifying force of the universe because it is the “feeling” aspect of Spirit. Certainly you have heard that whatever you put your attention towards, you become or draw to you. Well the assumption that is not always explicit in this approach is that you usually want to put your attention only on something you want because you love it and want it for yourself. It is Love that can draw everything good to us and remove blocks and barriers that our minds have erected. So if we truly love something, we cannot but draw it to ourselves.

Love is the most powerful magnetic emotion or feeling of the universe. So you can choose to follow with your mind all the details of the laws to create what you want or you can simply open your heart to what you want to draw it to yourself. Manifesting through The Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Grace both work to get you what you want, but if you want to use the second to do so or if you want to reinforce the First with the Second, then the important thing is to remember that Love is truly the Key.

As evidenced by my last post, the past week has been a demanding one for me.  Starting a new job at a corporate firm, in a sector I know absolutely nothing about (HR), and then getting the plague has really worn me down.  However, as promised, I intended to work my weekend shift at Molly's as it was scheduled.

Since I'd never managed to call in and ask what exactly that schedule was, I assumed I'd be going in at 10pm on Friday, since that's the availability I put down.  So, when I got off the tube near my flat Friday evening, I called Molly's cell phone to follow up with her.  It went straight to voicemail.

The bar doesn't have a phone at all, and usually Molly's really good about picking up her phone, so I left a message, but felt like something was off since it'd gone straight to voicemail.  I decided also texting Pregnant Barmaid was a good move, since she's apparently the "assistant manager."  That done, I got home, stripped off my professional wear, and dropped into bed.

My phone started ringing about 40 minutes later.  Cranky and groggy, I answered with a muffled greeting.

"Is that Tilia?" Pregnant Barmaid said.

"Mhm, yes."

"Hey Tilia, it's Pregnant Barmaid.  Listen, you are coming in tonight.  I was supposed to be off at 8, but they told me to stick around until you came in, so if you could just make it over as soon as possible ..."

"but, I put my availability down for 10pm."

"I know.  Whenever you can make it ..."

Well, the woman is pregnant, so I couldn't rightly just go back to sleep.  I attempted to reconstruct an awake face with various makeup products, and, satisfied that it was as good as it was going to get, I downed a red bull and struck out toward the bar.  I thought maybe walking would perk me up a little, since it takes just as long as taking the bus, so I did.

Well, I never properly woke up.  I was groggy, and still riding the remaining waves of that awful cold I had earlier in the week.  I stuck it out, though, serving drinks to the crowd for most of the night.  Pregnant Barmaid stuck around to drink Merlot, and poison her baby just a little more, and the not-a-Bouncer that started coming in after Molly's fall was supposed to close with me.

The not-a-Bouncer usually hobnobs with the guests, has a Kronenberg, then helps me close and locks the bar up.  It's not ideal, but whatever, it's a small, crap bar. 

Well, an elderly gentleman, a regular, was sitting next to not-a-Bouncer and asked me how my new job went.  Somehow, in answering, we started talking about the economy, and the AIG bust a few weeks back, and how important the next American administration was going to be to restoring economic peace.

Not-a-Bouncer said something like, "The economy is metaphysical.  It only affects you because you believe it will.  Politics is the same."

I kind of laughed and said, "No, money is pretty tangible.  It can be tracked and recorded, and it affects you whether you believe in it or not.  As to the politics ..."

"Bush and Clinton were basically the same," he cut me off.  "You can't honestly believe that one did better than the other, or that the President is more than just a man in a chair."

I took a deep breath and said, "Okay, I'm finding this just a little offensive, so let's talk about something else."

Cue not-a-Bouncer losing his cool, and yelling at me to go back to America if I love it so much. 

Now, he was sorta drunk.  If he was a customer, it'd piss me off, but I'd probably keep working all the same.  However, this guy was supposed to be there not only as the other employee, but as my protection should something get out of hand.  This is just unacceptable.

At this point, I decided I was going to leave for the night and he could close up on his own.  I was going to wait until last call, and then shove off.  We were only about an hour to.

Then Molly bursts into the bar, completely sloppy drunk, and accompanied by some white trash, orange-tanned fat woman squeezed into a black corset, and with overly teased bleach blonde hair.  It was like Honkey Tonk Irish.

She comes behind the bar, brings the friend with her, and then tells me I should dance to the music.  At this point, furious, I demand my wages, fighting back tears, not because I feel like crying, but because I'm just so damn tired.

Molly tries to tell me to buck up, for the umpteenth time, referring to some deep seated Irish heritage I have, but when she sees the tears, she finally concedes and gives me the money.  She accompanies me outside, and I tell her what not-a-Bouncer did, and how inappropriate I found it.

"He wasn't talkin' about America ..." She said, mysteriously.  "He was talkin' about Ireland.  You gotta find your grandfather and your great grandfather ..."

"Uh, Molly, no, that's not what he was talking about."  I cut her off.  I really wanted to tell her, at this point, that I'm probably more German and English than Irish, but whatever.

Awkward pause.

"Why didn't you just tell him to fuck off?"  She demanded.  "Hit him with that towel rolled up behind the bar."

"Molly!" I said, exasperated.  "That shouldn't be my responsibility!"

"What, so you want a nursemaid your whole life?"

"Um, no, Molly, but when someone is there as a coworker, I expect them to behave in a professional manner."

"Well, let's go talk to him," she said, grabbing my hand and attempting to pull me inside.

I had to jerk my hand away from her before she'd stop, saying, through gritted teeth, "that's not something I'm comfortable with."

She seemed at a loss, so I just walked away, toward home.  The poor guy who'd initially asked me how the new job was going was with his wife at the bus stop, and they waited with me while I sort of had a sobbing fit.  Again, just out of exhaustion.

The next day, after several attempts to call in (which was made impossible by Pregnant Barmaid not being scheduled, and Molly having lost her cell phone), I just decided to not go.  I don't think I'll go back again at all, actually.  And surprisingly, though this goes against my basic moral standing on job etiquette, I'm okay with it.

Interesting find while surfing this morning. The ID people keep claiming they're all about science, but the never reveal any.

ISSR Statement on the Concept of 'Intelligent Design'

The authors of this statement constitute a group set up for the purpose by the Executive Committee of the International Society for Science and Religion. Through a process involving consultation with all members of the Society, the statement has now been accepted by the Executive Committee for publication as a statement made on behalf of the Society.

The International Society for Science and Religion is a scholarly society devoted to ongoing dialogue between the sciences and the community of world faiths.  It was established in 2002 for the purpose of promoting education through the support of interdisciplinary learning and research in the fields of science and religion, conducted where possible in an international and multi-faith context.

The society greatly values modern science, while deploring efforts to drive a wedge between science and religion. Science operates with a common set of methodological approaches that gives freedom to scientists from a range of religious backgrounds to unite in a common endeavor. This approach does not deny the existence of a metaphysical realm but rather opens up the natural world to a range of explorations that have been incredibly productive, especially over the last 400 years or so.

The intelligent-design (ID) movement began in the late 1980s as a challenge to the perceived secularization of the scientific community, which leaders of the movement maintained had been coloured with the philosophy of atheistic naturalism. ID theorists have focused their critique primarily on biological evolution and the neo-Darwinian paradigm. They claim that because certain biological features appear to be "irreducibly complex" and thus incapable of evolving incrementally by natural selection, they must have been created by the intervention of an intelligent designer. Despite this focus on evolution, intelligent design should not be confused with biblical or "scientific" creationism, which relies on a particular interpretation of the Genesis account of creation.

We believe that intelligent design is neither sound science nor good theology. Although the boundaries of science are open to change, allowing supernatural explanations to count as science undercuts the very purpose of science, which is to explain the workings of nature without recourse to religious language.  Attributing complexity to the interruption of natural law by a divine designer is, as some critics have claimed, a science stopper. Besides, ID has not yet opened up a new research program. In the opinion of the overwhelming majority of research biologists, it has not provided examples of "irreducible complexity" in biological evolution that could not be explained as well by normal scientifically understood processes. Students of nature once considered the vertebrate eye to be too complex to explain naturally, but subsequent research has led to the conclusion that this remarkable structure can be readily understood as a product of natural selection. This shows that what may appear to be "irreducibly complex" today may be explained naturalistically tomorrow.

Scientific explanations are always incomplete. We grant that a comprehensive account of evolutionary natural history remains open to complementary philosophical, metaphysical, and religious dimensions. Darwinian natural history does preempt certain accounts of creation, leading, for example, to the contemporary creationist and ID controversies. However, in most instances, biology and religion operate at different and non-competing levels.  In many religious traditions, such as some found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, the notion of intelligent design is irrelevant. We recognize that natural theology may be a legitimate enterprise in its own right, but we resist the insistence of intelligent-design advocates that their enterprise be taken as genuine science - just as we oppose efforts of others to elevate science into a comprehensive world view (so-called scientism). Intelligent design is nearly universally condemned as science and as a concept. Most people recognize it for what it really is; a wedge devise to sneak WASP religion into our school systems. The only support for it is from evangelical fundamentalists, Young Earth Creationist (YEC), and some Old Earth Creationist (OEC).

Now proponents of Intelligent Design (ID) are using ‘Stealth Candidates' who are running for positions on local and state school boards without declaring or admitting that they will advocate teaching ID in schools when elected. They just don't get it...and they will try anything, including dishonesty, to achieve their goals. That they would use dishonesty in the furtherance of their religious sect speaks volumes about the true value of their faith.

Most people don't analyze this battle enough, and don't seem to realize that the ultimate goal of the religious right is to take over our country and remake it into a religious society; kind of like the Dark Ages in Europe when the Catholics ruled, and the strength and direction of your belief...decided whether you lived or died.  A lot of people don't realize that the religious right has taken control of the Republican Party.

I only have a second, but I wanted to "reach out and touch you" for it seems a long time. I hope all of you had a pleasant, productive, and peaceful week and weekend!

Tuesday, the 14th, I go to Daytona to talk about Tactile painting, and I still haven't worked out everything I'll say. I asked if I can just speak from my heart (no prepared speech), and they said yes, so I am not too concerned about it. Of course, if you talk to me on Tuesday I may not be quite so calm. :O I will tell you all about my day and other things in my next post.

This painting is somewhat tactile (especially the tree). I may come back to tell you a little about it. Then again, if you think it speaks for itself, I may just leave it with you to ponder..along with Melville's beautiful words in the quote above. I would much prefer to hear your thoughts than mine. :)

I find it fascinating that the level of appreciation for new experiences for many of us is expressed as low or non-existent.  Many of us live as if we have lost our ability to be in awe with the wonderful surprises the present brings to our lives.  When I watch children delight in the moment, I feel a tinge of sadness that many of us did not carry that joy through our growing years.  When we make any attempt to be childlike again, how many of us experienced any sort of reproach to behave like responsible adults?  So, is it any surprise how our days pass us by without a sound?

Whatever is remembered in our experience is a milestone marker in our lives.  Many a times those milestone markers tend to mark unhappy and unpleasant moments.  We remember the unkind words said to us, the unpleasant experiences unkindness and rage generate, and the bereavement tragedies and humiliation bring into our lives. We remember the pain, the sorrow, the hurt, the loss.

Yet, it takes a sense of finality in our lives before we once again could appreciate the beautiful presents Spirit brings us...the abundance in our lives, the enjoyment of our world, the pleasures of our bodies, the smile of passers-by, the loving hands of friends and family supporting us, the wonderful ray of sunshine when all is well, the gentle ocean and mountain breeze reminding us of our senses, the glorious sunrise and sunsets of our inner and outer lives, the graceful sways of billowy branches mirroring our growing pains.  When we realize time is about to run out in our lives, we are prompted to remember the love of our children, the caring warmth of our beloveds, the roller coaster rides on which our souls journeyed and collected memories throughout our lifetimes.

Whatever is remembered in our experience is a milestone marker in our lives.  Let these milestones be abundant that we have much to remember at the end of our days and know how loved we are.
