Morges

Après tant de répétitions et d'heures passées ensemble... une grosse déprime post thewall pour tous!!

Heureusement il nous reste tous ces souvenirs dont les photos...

Alors pour tout ceux qui n'ont pas pu venir je vous laisse celles la!!!

With its 15.000 inhabitants, Morges is growing up as a major downtown in Lausanne metropolitan area. Its position, next to Lausanne and Lausanne University, and the developping opportunities, make the town an interesting place in which to relocate and to invest.

ENVIRONMENT

Morges lies on the shores of Lake Geneva, and offers lots of different possibilities for excursions, both on the lakeside and on the mountains. A good pedestrian and bicycle network provides lots of different paths for walks and hikes.

TRANSPORTS

Morges has a major railway station, with trains to Geneva (4 trains/hour), Lausanne (5 trains/hour), Vevey-Montreux (3 trains/hour) and Yverdon-les-bains, Neuchatêl and Bienne (1 train/hour). Buses linkthe city center with its suburbs and the university.

A good and cheap car rental service is provided by Mobility.

CITY CENTER

Morges has a very nice and lively city center, with a pedestrian street, a waterfront parallel to it, and a serie of boulevard all around.

HOUSING (first places)

In the city center, lots of houses are being renovated, offering lots of modern houses in a vibrant and well connected area.

WORKPLACES (second places)

Four areas are designated to host enterprises and workplaces. Of these four area, one is just in the city center and hosts the headquarters of Logitech, while two of the others are connected by train (1 train/hour) to the city center and to Lausanne.

SHOPS, BARS, CAFES, EVENTS, NIGHTLIFE (third places)

The center is full of shops, museums, restaurants and shopping centers (Manor, Migros), and hosts lots of events, like:

-la grande table (at the end of may)

-Morges-sous-rire (end of may, beginning of june)

-guided tours, provided by ASM (every Friday at 2:30 PM, every Tuesday, at 10:00 AM, departure from the Tourist Office)

Nightlife in Morges is not so much developped, but Lausanne is just 10 mins away. Trains between Lausanne and Morges run from 5.30 to 1.00 (Morges to Lausanne) and from 4.30 to 0.20 (Lausanne to Morges).  On friday and Saturday night, more trains (at 0.48 and 1.14 from lausanne to Morges, at 1.52 and at 2.00 from Morges to Lausanne) and buses (at 2.00 and 3.45 from Lausanne to Morges) are provided. Thewall.ch est une idée de Jacques Saugy, professeur de guitare. Rêvant de faire jouer ses élèves dans un spectacle plus sérieux que de simples auditions, il décide de reprendre avec eux l'oeuvre musicale des Pink Floyd, "The Wall".

En plus des ses élèves, d'autres participants, dont des professionnels du spectacle, les aideront à réaliser ce projet. Des extraits du film original, une mise en scène ainsi que la construction du mur agrémenteront la performance des jeunes musiciens.

Un peu de pub pour ce projet dont je fais partie!!

Starting with a short and pleasant hike at Lac Léman (Lake Geneva/Genfer See), I did a round trip starting in Morges, between Genève and Lausanne. Clocking in at around 2.5 hours, it leads through a lovely scenery where vineyards, pastures, and little villages alternate. There's no need to describe the route in detail here, as it's recommended by the Morges tourist office and thus marked and signposted pretty well. You can get a copy of a map with the route and a short description there. The hike starts at the train station, which is just five minutes from the lake, and leads to the villages of Joulens and Monnaz (lovely!), with great views over the lakes. From Monnaz, it crosses the valley to reach the castle of Vufflens (not open to the public). From there, it leads back in a similar fashion via the village Denes. Alternatively, follow the valley between Monnaz and Vufflen for a straight route back to Morges. It's a pleasant footpath along the creek, and shady.

Le château de Morges se situe juste à coté de la où je travaille, c’est actuellement un musée militaire et musée suisse de la figurine historique et de l’artillerie. Devant, le bâtiment ou je travaille, il y a les halles du port, sous l’ancien régime, toutes les marchandises transitaient si elles passaient par Morges. Maintenant, cela abrite l’office du tourisme et de l’autre coté la société CVL Cosmetics.

La grande rue est la rue commerçante, elle est très jolie, se situe également le musée Alexis Forel. Le temple est une des plus remarquables églises baroques de Suisse Occidentale et beaucoup de monde vienne l’admirer. Il y a également un casino à Morges, qui abrite un théâtre. Voici, pour la visite culturelle !!! Vous avez appris plein de choses sur la ville de Morges, j’espère.
