The featured photograph was taken a few weeks ago, and it was one of those moments where you're glad you've actually got your camera with you!  I've been trying to carry it around more often in case of sudden inspiration.  This little guy was flitting around, and I had to move awfully slow so as not to disturb him.  I love that the wings have this lovely autumn feel to them, with just the very tiniest hint of purple.  The purple is actually what makes me love this photograph!

I've had a slight obsession with butterflies and dragonflies over the years.  I've got a few tattooed on me, and I used to collect anything I could find with a dragonfly on it!  The past three years though, it's all kind of faded to the background, and I realized that all happened when I had my daughter!  I've been so busy being a mommy, I've forgotten to pursue some of the things I love.  It was actually my daughter who reminded me to stop and enjoy the butterflies... so we did together!

On a business note, I'm trying a 45% off sale on my photography tonight to jump start some sales, and if it's successful, I may consider running it once a month!

I have to admit that although I have owned my digital camera for more than 3 years, it was not until last month that I finally tried out the macro feature on it. I'm still learning to use it. The first several pictures were pretty blurry. It is also often disorienting trying to locate my desired focal point when focusing on such a tiny area.

The first time I tried it out I had a wiggly kid in hand, so those ones did not turn out, but I tried again at the park and managed to get some of those tiny daisies that grow in the grass.

There was a really pretty red moth flitting around that I wanted a close up of. I wanted one of it in mid flight, but had a hard time getting it in the view finder on close up that quickly. Finally it landed in the middle of a clump of miniature daisies for a while.

I also got some close up shots of some buttercups in the grass. I did have some difficulty getting the camera to focus on the flowers instead of the grass when I got up as close as i wanted.

I will need to spend more time practicing with this feature. It's been fun so far. I'd like to be able to get even more close to the flowers than these ones.
