Yesterday my parents went to some dinner party in Van. J and I stayed with S and A came along as well. We didn't really want to pay for the movie, but we had to because there was a lady who started to check the tickets when we got there. Boo hoo. *SPOILER ALERT*

We watched Quarantine. There were some funny parts, following clapping from the audience. It wasn't that scary. The camera kept moving so it was pretty shitty and blurry when it came to the almost-gore-ish parts.WTH? I thought they would be under a curse or something.. not have rabies. BOOO *thumbs down* I give it a 6/10 for their rabies-infected-humans and dogs. Shitty movie. Shitty how they showed the ending in the trailer. Fail. :(

Thus, we watched another movie to "help us forget the *pop-ups* from Q". Eagle Eye. Such a good movie! My fav. action movie for sure. I love Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan(From made of honor)! Awesome movie. I recommend it! It was about...... actually it's complicated to explain. I think I'll buy or rent it for dad to watch; he loves these types of movies. :D

Movieboy I can't believe you. You rated Quarantine 3/4 and Eagle eye 1/4? I'm not going to YOUR site again!

We got to S's around 12. Ate then slept. *yawn

Shia LaBeouf, will you marry me?

I have added a new "How to Eat" section (look to your right... see it over there?). Besides my latest mishaps, I will now also be adding valuable tips on how to eat. So far, I have unlocked the culinary mysteries that surround McDonald's and Taco Bell...

This section will not appear in the blog roll, so you actually have to check the right side navigation to see if there are any new ones. Tough work, I know, but you can do it!

Visionary architect Dr. David Fisher is the creator of the revolutionary Dynamic Tower, the world's first building in motion. A Dynamic Tower is an 80-story skyscraper that rotate independently at different speeds according to a voice command. The rotation is powered by photovoltaic solar cells and 79 wind turbines (one located between each floor). Versions of the Dynamic Tower are planned for Dubai and Moscow by the end of 2010.

I'm getting so frustrated with politicians that quite frankly, Ralph Nader is beginning to look pretty good to me. Before you judge me for saying that or pointing out that he is responsible for Al Gore losing the presidency, think about it.

At this moment in time, both the Democrats and Republicans are equally guilty for this financial roller coaster we're on. Neither Barack Obama or John McCain have impressed me with their responses. They are so carefully treading water to get elected that they can't take action or speak honestly. So as a result of both parties, we are in a war, New Orleans continues to be a sad site, home values have dropped, and the financial industry is in a mess. And what makes you think Barack or Mc Cain will have the guts to do what is necessary to get things on track?

At least Ralph Nader has demonstrated over and over again his willingness to say what others don't want to hear. His fight for consumers has been well documented. And who needs the most help now, not big business, not the politicians, us-the consumers. Remember he is the one that likely saved millions of lives by pushing for seat belt legislation. He is about change and has successfully created change in our life time.

Can Obama or Mc Cain honestly say the same? If so, can they back it up with research or statistics to show how their actions have impacted lives directly? I don't understand what it is about Ralph Nader that makes him such a threat to the status quo. Wouldn't we all be better off if an independent voice could question and challange the Democrats and Republicans? It seems to me Nader will probably lose, but we might all benefit from his participation in the process.

Now if only the media would give him some air time.

Forgot to mention that I also have dyed some yarn this september. With plants. That meant, first to treat the yarn with Alaun. So don't get any illusions about no chemistry when dyeing with plants. But Alaun is ok, I also wanted some Kaliumbichromid (or whatever that's called in english) but got a bit scared after the pharmacist read all the side effects. And how I have to treat this drug. So i decided to go with Alaun. I used goldenrod, red clover, leaves and shells from walnut. Unfortunately my camera is not very good with yellow and brown, so no pictures so far (I am working on it though).

I saw a interesting opinion today, McCain's problem is his campaign, can fire them solve the problem? Btw, do you relly think McCain gonna loose?

He has nothing to lose. His campaign is totally overmatched by Obama's. The Obama team is well organized, flush with resources, and the candidate and the campaign are in sync. The McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic. If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed.

He may be anyway. Bush is unpopular. The media is hostile. The financial meltdown has made things tougher. Maybe the situation is hopeless — and if it is, then nothing McCain or his campaign does matters.

But I'm not convinced by such claims of inevitability. McCain isn't Bush. The media isn't all-powerful. And the economic crisis still presents an opportunity to show leadership.

The 2008 campaign is now about something very big — both our future prosperity and our national security. Yet the McCain campaign has become smaller.

What McCain needs to do is junk the whole thing and start over. Shut down the rapid responses, end the frantic e-mails, bench the spinning surrogates, stop putting up new TV and Internet ads every minute. In fact, pull all the ads — they're doing no good anyway. Use that money for televised town halls and half-hour addresses in prime time.

And let McCain go back to what he's been good at in the past — running as a cheerful, open and accessible candidate. Palin should follow suit. The two of them are attractive and competent politicians. They're happy warriors and good campaigners. Set them free.

Provide total media accessibility on their campaign planes and buses. Kick most of the aides off and send them out to swing states to work for the state coordinators on getting voters to the polls. Keep just a minimal staff to help organize the press conferences McCain and Palin should have at every stop and the TV interviews they should do at every location. Do town halls, do the Sunday TV shows, do talk radio — and invite Obama and Biden to join them in some of these venues, on the ground that more joint appearances might restore civility and substance to the contest.

The hope for McCain and Palin is that they still have pretty good favorable ratings from the voters. The American people have by no means turned decisively against them.

The bad news, of course, is that right now Obama's approval/disapproval rating is better than McCain's. Indeed, Obama's is a bit higher than it was a month ago. That suggests the failure of the McCain campaign's attacks on Obama.

So drop them.

Not because they're illegitimate. I think many of them are reasonable. Obama's relationship to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is, I believe, a legitimate issue. But McCain ruled it out of bounds, and he's sticking to that. And for whatever reason — the public mood, campaign ineptness, McCain's alternation between hesitancy and harshness, which reflects the fact that he's uncomfortable in the attack role — the other attacks on Obama just aren't working. There's no reason to think they're suddenly going to.

There are still enough doubts about Obama to allow McCain to win. But McCain needs to make his case, and do so as a serious but cheerful candidate for times that need a serious but upbeat leader.

McCain should stop unveiling gimmicky proposals every couple of days that pretend to deal with the financial crisis. He should tell the truth — we're in uncharted waters, no one is certain what to do, and no one knows what the situation will be on Jan. 20, 2009. But what we do know is that we could use someone as president who's shown in his career the kind of sound judgment and strong leadership we'll need to make it through the crisis.

McCain can make the substantive case for his broadly centrist conservatism. He can explain that our enemies won't take a vacation because the markets are down, and that it's not unimportant that he's ready to be commander in chief. He can remind voters that even in a recession, the president appoints federal judges — and that his judges won't legislate from the bench.

And he can point out that there's going to be a Democratic Congress. He can suggest that surely we'd prefer a president who would check that Congress where necessary and work with it where possible, instead of having an inexperienced Democratic president joined at the hip with an all-too-experienced Democratic Congress, leading us, unfettered and unchecked, back to 1970s-style liberalism.

At Wednesday night's debate at Hofstra, McCain might want to volunteer a mild mea culpa about the extent to which the presidential race has degenerated into a shouting match. And then he can pledge to the voters that the last three weeks will feature a contest worthy of this moment in our history.

He'd enjoy it. And he might even win it.

It's me again, Yoshimad123.
I've got an idea for igloos. Maybe you could add a Wallpaper feature to igloos so you can have wallpapers in your igloos, like the flooring (But it's wallpaper that goes on igloo walls). Maybe in the next Igloo Upgrades, you could add a section where you can purchase wallpaper for your igloo. And there could we a feature where you can remove it. When I was on the Miniclip CP forums, they all said it was a good idea so they said I should send it to you.
Is it a good idea?

Hello Yoshimad123 (cool name by the way),

Thank you for your email and interesting idea. I apologize for the delay in our
response; your patience is much appreciated.

Wallpaper for igloos would be a very interesting idea. However, I wonder how
the wallpaper would go sticking to the ice cold walls. Penguin might find have
to spend much time re-sticking the coverings to the walls. Do you have any
ideas what colors you would want to see released?

Make sure you check out the Better Igloo and Igloo Upgrade catalog released
this Friday. They have a spooking Halloween theme to help penguins start
celebrating the Halloween fun.

Be sure to keep sending your ideas in. While we can't guarantee that all
suggestions can be used at Club Penguin we love to hear what great ideas you
have come up with.

Until next time... Waddle on!

If you use my idea, maybe you could use basic colours like red, blue, and green until some people (or the CP staff) start to add more designs like the flooring.

On the 12th of October the Loebner Prize was awarded to Fred Roberts’ Elbot. This is a prize

On the 12th of October the Loebner Prize was awarded to Fred Roberts' Elbot. This is a prize to the one who can come up with the best artificial intelligence program, and the criteria for winning is scoring high on the Turing test. This test was described by Alan Turing in 1950, and its basic principle is that a human judge engages in a normal conversation with one person and one machine (each attempting to appear human), and if the judge cannot reliably tell which is which, the machine is said to have passed the test. Now, the Loebner Prize has a panel of 12 judges, and to pass their criteria, the machine/program only has to fool 4 (so 30%). This years gold medal was awarded, as said, to Elbot, but even so it only fooled 3 judges, and not 4. Still, I am amazed that 3 people did not realize this was a machine. Fred Roberts designed the program to make jokes about being a robot, and it was this apparent sense of humor that threw some of the judges off. I decided to have a chat with Elbot myself, and if you read on you can read the transcript. It's pretty obvious it's a program if you use somewhat intricate language, and not just the standard conversational stuff. But impressive none the less.

I'm fired up and ready to go.

This past Thursday I attended an Obama rally. It was cool, but not the electrifying experience that I was hoping for. It certainly wasn't the type of foaming-at-the-mouth feeding frenzy that has occured at recent McPalin rallies. At obama's rally, nobody called for the opponent's death, nobody accused the opponent of terrorism or socialism, nobody yelled expletives at the pro-life advocate waving a sign that said "Obama murders new born babies".

The rally was honestly just a mix of races and ages, all who were friendly and respectful.

One good thing that happened at the rally was that they took my information and my neighborhood, and my regional organizer called me later to ask me to volunteer. And I did.

I was so glad that I stepped up to the plate. I was a Green Party college non-voter in 2000, I reluctantly voted for Kerry (though I disapproved of his connections to corporations), and now I'm bound and determined to prevent another old white republican with lobbyist connections into the white house. Volunteering for Obama was pretty fun. Yes, there were people who pointed to their "private property" signs, people who wanted to argue about how McCain is a POW, and many many people who were not home (or didn't answer), but there were also those rare moments where I got to connect with an undecided voter.

A bald white guy with tattoos and pitbulls turned out to be an undecided. We had a decent conversation, and I was able to give him so info about Obama. Two ladies stopped me to talk about Obama, and I was able to give them some info on early voting. Minor victories.

Don't worry about having to argue with conservatives when you canvass. The Obama campaign doesn't want volunteers to engage in that nastiness. They just want to be able to get their information out to undecideds, who may be wondering if Obama "pals around" with terrorists or if he is a muslim. I found canvassing to be rewarding, and I encourage everyone to give it a try. Now, more than ever, we owe it to ourselves to elect an intelligent and kind leader as president of America.

Oh, and someone else canvassed for Obama yesterday.... Barack Obama himself. So, if you canvass for the man, at least you'll know you're in good company.

Vote Obama! Vote early!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canucks!

I know, I know...the video. It will be up tonight. It wasn't working out the way I wanted it. Then came Thanksgiving. I was out of town. Stayed longer than I thought and before you know it, time slipped away on me. I should know better than to put things off, thinking I'll just do things later. Anyway, I'll get it done. It always seems when I think things are working fine they mess up on you. Or the harder I try, the more I stumble.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We got to see my Brother-In-Law's new house. (First House) So he is excited and proud. A baby is on the way too! I'm happy for them. There is a 19 year age gap between Hubby and him. Wow, eh? So, I always look at him as the baby of the family. Now he's starting his own family. Time flies, I still remember playing Ninja Turtles with him.

I ate foods that I shouldn't have and lots of it! So far I'm not paying for it. It was like Christmas! Each piece of bad stuff was like opening a gift. (We don't buy gifts at Christmas though) :)

Usually when I do that, I get a reaction immediately and I stop. My stomach starts up and I know I made a big mistake. It didn't happen. That's when I start thinking, well....maybe it's okay to eat this or that. I really don't want to fall into that trap.

I thought I got a little reinforcement on the way home, we were listening to the radio. You will never guess what the theme was...eating whole live foods, the benefits etc. How good you feel. They mentioned their web sites and I went to them when I got home. I got the push I needed. I will be posting about them later.

I was reading the news over at What Really Happened. I'm not sure how many people read his site everyday but I do recall it is more than most newspapers have. So when Mike links to a post, you can expect a load of hits. Well, he left a link to a WordPress site today. This site is run by an 82 year old woman. It's called Margaret and Helen. Friends for sixty years, they blog and do it with gusto. It is freaking hilarious! After today, and the link from Mike, I think they have just hit the big time! Check it out.

I don't think you will be disappointed. :)

Update: You will notice that the site had only a few posts in 2007. Then it starts up again. It could be a spoof, joke whatever. But it had me laughing. Are they for real? I don't know. I'll just pretend they are. :)

It seems like everywhere we turn, there is another "expert" explaining the crisis with the ,benefit of 20/20 hindsight. And it appears every newspaper, television, and radio station has opinion on what needs to be done about the problem. So I thought I would check in with the folks who have found a way to continue to live as they had been before the bailout.

Immigrants from Asia, Mexico, and South America continue to work jobs no one wants, support their families and send money home to their families . How is this possible? As people considered much brighter than them continue to watch the value of their stocks plummet, these immigrants continue to experience the American dream. They work hard at jobs such as laborer, gardener, garment maker, dry cleaner, and nail technicians. They save every penny earned from pay and tips. They go to school or get a second job at the same time. And they share housing with other family members to keep costs affordable.

Somehow they do what so many of us were unable to do. They live within their means. They realize that what they have is more than good enough. They don't need to burden themselves with excessive debt to be happy. Maybe we should be listening to people who have actually been living the American dream and not the so called experts who guided this nation into the financial mess we're in.

Yesterday I went looking for a pair of sneakers for myself. I invited Ry to join me and promised I'd find him a pair too. Needless to say, most of the time was spent on him. I focused on price and familiar brands, like Nike, New Balance, or Adiddas. He immediately gravitated towards these black sneakers with puffy tongues, red soles, and skeletons on the side. It was an interesting moment in our relationships.

On one hand, I didn't like the way the shoes looked and I was clear about that. And he was able to pretend like he was going to vomit when I pointed him towards traditional brands. I challenged him, "are you going to really wear those things or complain about them when we get home?" "I love them. I will wear them." "Well lets run across the street and see what other choices DSW had. I was hoping to distract him.

I diverted him with shoes at Marshalls. For a moment, he considered Ben 10 shoes and then nixed the idea. So we looked for a pair for me. He seemed to enjoy playing shoe salesman and carrying boxes of shoes in my size. He used his persuasive powers to get me to buy the adult version of his skull shoes and a host of other shoes I'd never wear.

I was most impressed that he identified a pair of shoes that he liked, not ones that we wanted him to wear. The last time I did this, we bought him a pair of Vans slip-ons with flames running through them. In the end, we didn't find shoes for me and bought the World shoes for him. Despite our differences, I really enjoy seeing how excited he is to show everyone we know his shoes.

While the rest of the world is stressing out over the stock market swings, starving artists have been quietly going about their business. Painters, poets, actors and interpretive dancers continue to share apartments well into middle age. They continue to shop at thrift stores for clothes and furniture. They continue to eat in more than eat out. They travel by train and bus and use an IGo car when they need one.

The most interesting aspect of their lives is that they continue to be generally happy with what they are doing. They dedicate themselves to their artistry for the pure joy of doing it. Many actors can be found rehearsing nightly for performances only a handful of people will see. When they were told about the worldwide financial crisis, many were heard to exclaim, "I haven't noticed any change in my life." When they were informed that people are losing homes, unable to get out loans, and can not afford to drive their SUV's; on painter wondered what it would be like to have those things in the first place.

When asked if they were worried or panicked over the financial crisis, an interpretive dancer was seen to dance the words, "no."
