Il faut dire que mener le débat contre ou avec moi c'est assez difficile. Déjà il faut que le sujet me passionne énormément, il est interdit d'y mêler des statistiques et si je suis dans ma mauvaise période, quoi que vous disiez vous avez tort. Je suis légérement tête à claque, mais ça n'a pas grand chose à voir avec ce qui me turlupine.

Vers 20h50, ce soir, j'me suis mise à laver la vaisselle pendant que mon frère zappait. Il a mis sur M6, et il est venu essuyer. Pendant que j'me séchais les mains, j'ai remarqué que M6 nous proposait encore une émission de choix : Incroyable Talent ! Moi, ce que je trouve incroyable c'est que ce genre d'émissions existe (mon dieu ! Nous partons déjà avec un à priori... enfin vous allez voir ça va s'aggraver.) Bon petit récapitulatif de l'émission, parce que le concept est tellement révolutionnaire qu'on est trop bête pour pas savoir comment ça va se passer. Une petite histoire entre jury , je ne sais pas trop quoi, un générique... Jusque là ça va, pas de choc intellectuel.

Arrive sur le plateau, une gamine maquillée, habilleé de telle sorte que s'il n'y avait pas sa taille, je ne pense pas que je lui aurais donné 12 ans. Elle discute avec le jury, ouai bon okay, elle est malicieuse, ouai bon okay (habitude de tout ça je suis encore proche de cet âge), elle aime sa mère, ouai super. Alors, quel est donc son incroyable talent ? Et bien elle chante... Super palpitant... Elle chante du Christina Aguilera, doublement palpitant... On m'aurait dit qu'elle chantait de l'opéra, j'aurais sans doute perdu mes à priori. Bref, la gamine part, elle imite à la perfection la chanteuse, intensifie les gestes sur les paroles de la chanson, c'est poignant dis donc ! Elle termine, on l'applaudit, tous se lève, le jury aussi, la mère pleure heureuse et là , oui là ! Juste là ! Ce passe l'inconcevable.

"Cette émission est faite pour toi, tu as un incroyable talent ! Tu es une Artiste !" PARDON ? Permettez , je repasse ce passage : " Tu es une Artiste " ... Non, j'ai bien entendu. Cette gamine est une artiste ! Une ARTISTE ! Mais pendez moi je rêve ! Ce petit singe savant est une artiste ! C'est là que ça a fait paf dans ma tête...

Qu'est ce qu'un artiste de nos jours ? Vous e trouvez pas que comme beaucoup de mots, Artiste  a perdu de sa valeur ? Bon, d'après le dictionnaire un artiste c'est une personne qui pratique un des beaux-arts, u une personne qui interprète une oeuvre musicale, cinématographique et autre... Personnellement je trouve cette définition bien fade. Déjà pour moi quand on est artiste on a déjà la maturité de savir ce qu'on veut faire, parce que l'air de rien, l'art transmet des messages (que ce soit un message politique, sentimental, philosophique, ou juste un témoignage). Je pense donc qu'il est inconcevable qu'une gamine de 12 ans soit capable de comprendre ce qu'elle raconte à travers une chanson en anglais qui plus est. Et puis pour moi derrière artiste, il y a quelque chose de plus que ce côtè "imitation" de l'original, à mon sens il y a toujours un quelque chose en plus mis dedans qui est une part de personnel. De nos jours ont catalogue un peu tout le monde dans le rang d'artiste, on prend une potiche à mini-jupe, on lui fait chanter un truc débile et larmoyant, elle vend des millions de disques, hop c'est une artiste. Moui, ben non ! Je ne veux pas être d'accord avec ça, actuellement je ne vois pas qui peut réellement être vu comme un Artiste à notre époque. En même temps, l'Art de nos jours n'est pas vraiment la préoccupation première de la société.Ce que je trouve dommage et c'est A se demander ce que je fous dans UFR Art et culture , en musicologie... Putain, j'espère que j'aurais pas à accompagner plus tard SI j'ai une carrière, une gamine de 12 ans chantant du Christina Aguilera. C'est aussi une des raisons (le fait que l'Art ne soit plus réellement le sujet de préoccupation de notre époque... en émettant la possibilité qu'il fut un des sujets numéro UN d'une époque, enfin ce qui est sûre c'est qu'il avait une place de choix auparavant) qui fait que j'ai du mal à discuter avec ma famille qui reste réellement sur leurs biens matériaux ces temps-ci et que mis à part le travail, les sujets de conversation ne se multiplie pas... mais c'est une autre histoire.

Enfin comme toujours ce que j'ai voulu dire est parti dans tous les sens. Un jour, je réussirai à m'exprimer clairement, enfin j'espère. Je n'arrive jamais à me concentrer parfaitement sur ce que je veux dire, c'est difficile je trouve d'argumenter comme il faut. En plus, ça rejoint un peu trop ce que j'ai pu voir en philo l'an passé, sans doute pour cela que je préfére clore tout de suite. E tout cas, j'ai éteint la télé, quitte à me polluer l'esprit je préfére le faire en proliférant ma race alien sur spore.

GANDHINAGAR: Emergence of new warfare technologies have not been able to diminish the crucial role of airpower to achieve national objectives of any country. When nuclear thresholds of countries keep changing, it is superior airpower that becomes a matter of choice for nations to protect their respective national interests. Hence when Pakistan recently bought US and Chinese multi-role aircraft, Indian Air Force's (IAF) south western air command, the frontline of defence against Pakistan, was quick to assess its long-term implications for India.

Air Marshal Kanwar Dalinderjit Singh, air officer commanding-in-chief, SWAC, told TOI that Pakistan has outlined a big plan to replenish its aircraft fleet and upgrade existing fighters. Till June 2008, US had delivered Pakistan eight second-hand F-16 s even as plans were afoot to upgrade its ageing fleet of the same variant. Besides, neighbouring country has bought eight JF-17 multi-role aircraft from China and proposes to buy 150 more in the coming years. It has also ordered for 36 J-10 fourth generation multi-role aircraft from China, he said.

According to Air Marshal Singh, a veteran fighter pilot who has flown Hawker Hunter and MiG-21 variants among other fighters and trainers, [Pakistani] aircraft are quick in response and can cause a lot of destruction, so the ongoing development by Pakistan to strengthen its airpower cannot be ignored.

He, however, added that the only comfort could be the fact that upgradation of F-16 s would not add new capabilities to the aircraft and the Chinese fighters have not proved their claims. The SWAC AOC-in-C refused to divulge any information on plans to counter airpower imbalance in immediate neighbourhood in the coming years. But he added that work was on to set up a new airbase and strengthen the existing ones under the south western air command.

IAF has been building a new airbase at Phalodi near Jodhpur. The base which will become operational by 2009-end. It will have transport and attack helicopters, MiG-29 Bison and air defence aircraft. The Bush administration is thought to be in a desperate push for results in Afghanistan and a trophy strike against al-Qaida's top leadership, which is likely to be based in the tribal area, before the presidential terms ends. CIA agents from all over the world have reportedly been pulled into the Afghan-Pakistan border area.

Pakistani troops repuls an attack and turned back American troops. Pakistan finally came through with its threat to "defend its territory at all costs". When American choppers landed on the Afghan side of the border and tried to cross over into Pakistan, the Pakistani forces were ready, and apparently theyfired in the air. After several hours of firing, the US forces left without crossing over into Pakistan. Pakistani jets also chased US drones out of Pakistani territory.

Details of the incident, in South Waziristan, are unclear. According to local security officials and tribesmen, however, two US helicopters breached Pakistani airspace in the early hours but were forced to retreat when they came under fire.

The US forces were likely to have been on a hit-and-withdraw mission against suspected militants in the area, similar to the first documented US ground raid into the tribal territory earlier this month, when choppers flew in commandos. That enraged the Pakistani army and public. One security official in South Waziristan said: "American helicopters came, and there was a space [border] violation. Pakistani scouts [paramilitary troops]) fired artillery as a warning and they left. The helicopters did not land."

Other reports said troops had directed gunfire at the helicopters, which were just inside Pakistani territory. One official said the fire had come from Pakistani soldiers based at a border checkpoint known as BP-27. Washington Post

Both sides are either bluffing or playing with fire. The US may down a Pakistani aircraft, or firing from the ground may bring down a US drone. In eather case the matter could be escalated. This is not the best way to resolve the situation.

Both sides must stand down, and Pakistani sovreignty has to be respected.

KARACHI, Pakistan, Sept. 15 -- Pakistani troops turned back a U.S. attack in Pakistan's tribal areas on Monday by firing warning shots toward U.S. troops as they attempted to cross from Afghanistan in pursuit of Taliban insurgents, a Pakistani intelligence official said. U.S. and Pakistani military spokesmen denied the report.

A Pakistani intelligence official said several U.S. helicopters were seen hovering near the Pakistani village of Angor Adda in the tribal area of South Waziristan. By the official's account, the helicopters landed just inside Afghanistan and several U.S. soldiers got out of them.

Pakistani troops fired warning shots in the air as the U.S. troops tried to enter Pakistani territory from Afghanistan, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak publicly on military operations. The brief standoff ended about 4:30 a.m., the intelligence official said.

Local villagers gave similar accounts, the Reuters news agency reported.

But Maj. Murad Khan, a spokesman for the Pakistani military, denied reports of gunfire. "There was no firing in the area, and there was no violation of Pakistani airspace," Khan said. "We have heard there were U.S. helicopters hovering at our border area, but they were deep inside Afghanistan."

Sgt. Chris Peavy, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Afghanistan, said: "We fly everyday missions in that area, all the time. It's close to the border, but we did not enter that area today. There's been no firing on our forces."

Tensions over cross-border incursions by U.S. and Afghan forces into Pakistan's tribal areas have been rising for months, as U.S. and NATO troops have suffered several major setbacks in Afghanistan.

Those tensions came to a boil early this month when U.S. commandos landed helicopter gunships in another South Waziristan village on Sept. 3. Pakistani officials said at least 20 people were killed after U.S. troops opened fire on a compound in the village of Musa Nika.

The incident prompted outrage from Pakistan's government and sparked an ongoing debate in the country over Pakistan's increasingly tenuous alliance with the United States in the fight against Islamist insurgents in the region. The debate was fueled by strikes in the tribal area by U.S. Predator drone aircraft.

U.S. officials have pressured Pakistan to step up its efforts to cut off attacks on coalition troops from Pakistan's tribal areas. Frustrated by a lack of progress on containing the threat from Taliban and al-Qaeda commanders, President Bush signed an order in July authorizing U.S. troops to conduct ground operations inside Pakistan.

Last week, Pakistan's army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Kiyani, condemned the attacks, saying Pakistan is prepared to defend its territory "at all cost." Kiyani's statement followed comments by Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that increased U.S. incursions in Pakistan are likely.

Pakistan's newly elected president, Asif Ali Zardari, is expected to discuss the issue of cross-border strikes with Bush during a visit to the United Nations in New York next week.

A US spy plane was seen in the skies above North Waziristan earlier during the day, but it disappeared as soon as Pakistani fighters appeared. The jets, which were seen for the first time after a series of US attacks in the tribal belt, reconnoitred the region for an hour.

A few words of my own: Welcome to life our long awaited friends of the Pakistan Air Force! Personally, i've never been to FATA nor do i find any reason to ever go there, but i do know that FATA is a part of a Sovereign Country, our Country, our beloved Pakistan. And that NO ONE, and i repeat, NO ONE from outside Pakistan has the right, nor should have the guts, to enter Pakistan and attack its soil.

USA should intensify the diplomacy talks with Pakistan and should understand, like a grown up, that Pakistan itself is facing strong militancy, which is a serious threat to its national security - and additionally, if the US starts attacking militant targets inside Pakistan, it will be crossing the line. Instability in Pakistan won't do good to any one in the region, but will have bad outcomes for all - cuz Pakistan unlike Afghanistan and Iraq is an entirely different nation, and if you're playing with Pakistan, means you're willingly pulling the trigger to World War-III. So all those buggers in the US who think attacking Pakistan is a solution, must be pre-informed that they shall be held responsible for the huge destruction that the world will have to face in the form of World War-III. So once again I say to every one in the world, and ofcourse to all the Pakistanis whether they're American born or British born: "Save Pakistan, save the World!".

    Chamo a atenção para dois trechos da notícia abaixo, ainda que um pouco antiga (de maio deste ano):

"A Fazenda sai vencedora em 68% dos julgamentos, o que corresponde a 52% do valor dos créditos tributários em disputa. Encerrada a tramitação, a Fazenda pode iniciar a execução fiscal ou levantar depósitos, quando eles existem. "

    Pergunta que se faz necessária: a Fazenda Nacional tem razão em 68% dos casos, ou a balança está pendendo um pouco para seu lado? Para que haja plena noção de isenção (parafrasendo conhecido dito histórico: "não basta ser isento, tem de parecer isento"), não será recomendável alteração da legislação, a fim de que, além da composição paritária (pública e privada), os julgamentos de processos administrativos tributários sejam realizados, no que tange à composição pública, por servidores ou membros de órgão distinto do que tem a competência para fiscalizar e arrecadar tributos? Entendo que deveriam integrar essa composição, exclusivamente, servidores que tenham formação jurídica. Por isso é que defendo que o Ministério Público, dada suas características de "fiscal da lei" - ou, em latim: "custos legis" - (* vide nota logo abaixo) seria o órgão mais adequado para compor as turmas de julgamento de processos tributários.

Comentário deste blog: e se já estivesse em vigência o Código de Defesa do Contribuinte, esse prazo seria hoje desrespeitado?

Aliás, princípio básico de Direito é que, nas relações bilaterais, uma das partes somente pode exigir o adimplemento das obrigações a cargo da outra quando já cumpriu com as suas próprias (o art. 476 do Cód. Civil - Lei nº 10.406/2002 - tem inspiração nesse princípio). A demora exacerbada no processamento de feitos de interesse do contribuinte é, por si só, um desrespeito a esse princípio. O Estado exige do contribuinte pontualidade no pagamento de créditos tributários, o que é o natural e desejável, mas, quando chega a vez de o contribuinte se apresentar como credor, tanto de serviços públicos (saúde, segurança, saneamento, infraestrutura, educação etc) de qualidade, quanto de resposta em prazo adequado a seus pleitos, o poder público deixa a desejar? Não estaria aí, havendo um claro e inconveniente desequilíbrio entre administração pública e contribuintes?

O Conselho de Contribuintes vai dobrar o número de câmaras de julgamento até o fim deste ano. Uma portaria publicada na semana passada cria 17 novas turmas especiais na casa, que entram em funcionamento em um prazo de 120 dias e serão destinadas a julgar casos de menor valor - ou seja, ações de até R$ 300 mil sobre Imposto de Renda (IR) e de até R$ 100 mil sobre os demais tributos. A medida foi articulada em conjunto entre o conselho, a Secretaria da Receita Federal e a Procuradoria-Geral da Fazenda Nacional (PGFN) para dar vazão ao estoque de 40 mil processos aguardando julgamento e reduzir o tempo de tramitação das ações, de até cinco anos.

Além de facilitar a vida dos contribuintes - já que as empresas abertas precisam manter provisões para cobrir disputas tributárias -, a medida pode aumentar a arrecadação da União. Estima-se que há R$ 150 bilhões em autuações fiscais aguardando posicionamento do Conselho de Contribuintes, e que não podem ser cobradas enquanto os processos administrativos não são julgados. A Fazenda sai vencedora em 68% dos julgamentos, o que corresponde a 52% do valor dos créditos tributários em disputa. Segundo Antônio José Praga de Souza, presidente do primeiro conselho, o número de novos processos aumentou nos últimos dois anos devido ao maior volume de autuações da Receita Federal e à chegada de dez mil processos oriundos do extinto Conselho Superior de Recursos do Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS), transferidos ao Conselho de Contribuintes com a criação da Super-Receita. Foram criadas apenas duas novas câmaras no segundo conselho para atender às causas previdenciárias.

Apesar de dobrar o número de turmas de julgamento, as regras presentes na nova portaria deverão elevar a produtividade do Conselho de Contribuintes entre 30% a 40%, pois as turmas especiais terão três conselheiros, enquanto as câmaras comuns têm oito membros. As novas causas de pequeno valor, que correspondem a cerca de 80% do volume de processos da casa, serão destinados às novas turmas, mas não haverá remanejamento de processos já distribuídos, diz Antônio Praga.

Hoje o conselho julga de 1,5 mil a dois mil processos ao mês, número que deve chegar a três mil com as turmas especiais. O prazo médio de tramitação de um processo nos conselhos é de 27 meses, e chega a 60 meses se houver recurso ao conselho superior. Segundo Antônio Praga, o Conselho de Contribuintes já teve dificuldades ainda maiores para dar conta da demanda no fim dos anos 90, problema que foi superado no início dos anos 2000 com mudanças nas competências dos conselhos e nos procedimentos das delegacias regionais da Receita. Com a alteração das regras do Conselho dos Contribuintes a partir de 2006, diante da edição de uma nova lei, e do novo regimento interno da casa, de junho de 2007, foi prevista a criação das turmas especiais para dar vazão aos casos de menor complexidade ou de menor valor.

Ainda sobre Conselho de Contribuintes, em anexo ao boletim de hoje, do sindicato de uma das categorias da carreira Auditoria, salta aos olhos o seguinte trecho:

O Presidente do [...]º CC, a título de informar à RFB sobre o andamento de trabalhos realizados por auditores postos à disposição do Conselho de Contribuintes, produziu um pretenso relatório no qual, sem qualquer fundamentação ou análise técnica, desqualifica, sob diversas formas, vários integrantes do grupo.

No aludido documento, aquela autoridade, numa atitude desrespeitosa e contrária às mais elementares normas que regem o serviço público, nomina colegas que, para ela, não conheceriam o PAF; cita outros, que não teriam quaisquer condições para realizar o trabalho; e ainda um outro, que se engajou no movimento paredista da categoria, e, por isso, produziu, no período de seis meses, o que, segundo a sua ótica, poderia ser feito em, no máximo, dois dias. Conclui com uma espécie de ameaça de desligamento do grupo dirigida a três colegas, caso a produção futura não seja satisfatória. [...]

United States of America, the principal leader of fascist movement NATO has launched several unprovoked attacks inside Pakistan, killing innocent women and children. They launch their attacks, killing just about anybody including innocent women and children to vent their anger and frustration, as they are facing a shameful defeat in Afghanistan. They want us to take the responsibility for their failure. They want to breed hatred in our people against state and working on an agenda to disintegrate our country for their ‘oil plan’.

Our previous government does nothing to stop them, now enemy is putting more pressure on the newly elected government, to accept the directions of the enemy, literally to give up our sovereignty. We are under pressure to conform to our oppressors' wishes about how we should behave, how we should govern our land, how we should live and how we should think even. Our enemy is suffering from might-madness, they think through might and they negotiate through killing.

They raid our country, kill our people, destroy our villages and towns, and we facilitate them in doing so. We supply them with fuel to launch attacks on us; we deliver them bombs which they drop on us. We provide 90% of the logistic support to our enemy to kill our people and violate our sovereignty. We facilitate our enemy to violate all international laws and disregard the borders of our country. How sane it is, and for how long we would be collecting bodies of our women and children while helping our enemy to kill them.

After every cowardly attack on our land and our sovereignty, our government, armed forces and civil society organizations lodge’s protests with blood thirsty enemy. It has been an exercise in futility because they are not going to change their attitudes just because we condemn them. Their history tells us that they posses no mercy and will not stop until we stand up against this oppression and stop them.

Every citizen of Pakistan, human rights organizations, civil society groups, lawyer’s bodies, teachers associations, student’s organisations, transporters associations and political parties have to stand up against this fascism and attack on our sovereignty. We have to stop our government, our armed forces and our transporters from providing so called ‘logistic support’, to our enemy, which is being used against us. If we are to recover our sovereignty, it is we who must decide, it is we who must act.

Here is how are going to do it:

Phase 1: Write to our government, decision makers, politicians, transporters and commanders of our armed forces to immediately halt the ‘logistic supplies’ to NATO forces from Pakistan;

Phase 2: Organise peaceful protests and demonstrations condemning the killing of innocent civilians and demand from government and armed forces to cut all ‘logistic supplies’ to enemy from our land;

Phase 3: In case, our government does not respect the voice of the nation, then arrange sit-ins on all major supply routes from Pakistan to Afghanistan for NATO, including Karachi Port, Attock Bridge, Chaman Border and Torkham Pass.

Please pass this message to all citizens of Pakistan and civil society organisations for sake of our sovereignty and the innocent women and children killed by fascist enemy.

To me he may termed as the best Pilot of the World as he took down three enemy (Indian) planes in less than a minute on the 6th of September, 1965 when he took off from Sargodha Air Base. This alone is enough to describe the fact that we as a nation are better then the rest.

Mr. Choudhry, along with his two companions took off and was inside enemy territory in order to destroy the supply chain and the defense armour. After successfully completing the mission he and his companions were attacked by eight enemy Hunter aircrafts. His companions were martyred but he with brilliance was able to dodge all their attacks and able to return to the homeland with an empty feul tank. As they had successfully completed the mission they had no real ammunition left to put up any sort of offense to the enemy. Yet to survive it is equivalent to defeating the enemy. Once again proving that we are good where we want to be good at.

I look at government and the propensity of people within and without it to make a load of money from public coffers. Their frenzied drive to filch much needed funds. And they can’t buy new airplanes for the Air Force. They can’t even buy a radar for Davao? (I remember the overprice of the Gokongweis on I think a Marubeni radar purchase or something that led to the demise of a really good Undersecretary of DOTC Pelagio Battung, Jr. just because the Usec disagreed with the tremendous overprice and wanted to spill the beans! The Gokongweis literally ate up Battung! He was kicked out and wholly demolished through the expert demolition services of a PR outfit that was paid by the Gokongweis a whopping P50-M!) They can’t even agree to build the National Transport Safety Board up to this time. Who is to blame? Is it really that early to conclude now? I wish it were as simple as the investigation of the crash site; they can’t even pull up the bodies in the crash as in the sunk Sulpicio vessel… oh this poor country of ours…  is... shit!

Body parts and debris were found in the Bukana village on the outskirts of Davao City. Colonel Isagani Silva said the recovered debris included combat boots, a plane wheel and a folder containing the plane's flight plan.

Lieutenant General Pedrito Cadungog, Air Force chief, said the C-130 took off from the International Airport in Davao City on Monday evening.

The flight was bound for the Eastern city of Iloilo, where it was supposed to arrive about two hours later. But Cadungog said the Air Force lost contact with the plane about 10 minutes after it took off.

One fisherman in Bukana village said he saw a 'flash of light' from the plane before it entered nearby waters. The planes was supposed to pick up Presidential security guards from Iloilo City for transport back to Manila.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was in Iloilo City to attend the wake of an army lieutenant colonel killed in an ambush by Muslim separatist rebels in a Southern province last week.

The destination of course is important, but in my opinion, the process and strategy is what constitutes a quality campaign.

Oui, sauf que depuis le début de l'été, la miss a du être recadrée par les habilleuses de la chaîne. Elle n'apparaît plus qu'avec des tenues longues et larges (elle qui semble si mince), et aux couleurs bien tristes (pour un été). Une garde robe sortie tout droit les pages "mamy" du catalogue La Redoute. Finis, par exemple, les petits hauts et jeans slim :-(

Dommage, Tania on t'aimait mieux avant... sur i-télé par exemple.

What can I say about Ascentium... well it's probably the most interesting agency I've been at thus far.  Ascentium is an interactive agency but that is just one part of what they do under the larger umbrella of Ascentium.  If I understand it correctly the three parts of the biz are: Interactive, CRM, and Infrastructure.  And magically all the different departments overlap together and are used in a way to enhance the client's needs.  In all honestly, I don't know any other company who does something like this, and from what I hear there isn't one.  James Rice, Creative Director of Portland's Ascentium explained it by saying (now I'm paraphrasing here), Ascentium figures out creative ways to use technology, and that is exactly what they are doing.

My time at Ascentium has pretty much been me being a fly on the wall.  Just being a sponge and soaking up everything I can and trying to compile it together and make sense out of it.  I got the opportunity to talk with Mike Caplan, Ascentium's Engagement Manager, who was very honest with me about the ins and outs of the Account Services side of an agency.  It was refreshing to get a straight to the point description of what account people do, and how do be successful in this business.  The main point I took from my talk with Mike was that being an account person isn't rocket science, but it does require you to have an amplitude for emotional intelligence and a passion to be "on" 24/7.

Not only do you need to be able to communicate with your team and clients effectively but you need to be constantly thinking about what you can do to make them more successful in their jobs.  As a project manager you are responsible for the delivery of all projects across the organization, you are the glue connecting all the different parts together.  So, being "on" 24/7 is a must, or your team will fall apart.

During this conversation with Mike, I kept thinking, "oh this is me, I am that person, trying to please people and help wherever I can"  but then something that Mike said caught my attention.  He explained that you do everything you can for your team and look out for them, but realize that there is no one looking out for you, and that no one is there to make your job easier.  Which is sad, but then I realized he might have been wrong... Mike, you are that person to your PM's, right?

I think I said this in my last post, but having this internship has been such an amazing experience for me.  Not only have I realized that Portland is where I want to be (sorry Mom, the bay area will have to wait for now) but this is what I want to do, and who I want to be.  And you know it might change 6 months from now, but that's ok.  For now, I'm going down this path, I may not have it all figured out but I am moving forward in a direction that looks good for now.  And I'm excited to be here!

A day has been left to 14^th of August but the news from the Western city of Pakistan is grim. TTP fulfilled its vow by carrying out a bomb attack in Peshawar yesterday. The target was specific – the personnel of the armed forces; doesn’t matter if they are commissioned, of low rank or just technicians.

TTP’s spokesman Maulvi Umar claimed the responsibility and added that it was in response to the military operation in Swat and Waziristan. The people of Pakistan seemed to be trapped in the vicious circle. The militants attack – the armed forces respond – in the reply the militants launch attacks in the other cities targeting the personnel from arm forces or law-enforcing agencies. In the process many civilians, passer bys and innocent people also die or sustain serious injuries.

On the other hand miscreants are active damaging and destroying public installations. In nine months, miscreants thrice bombed the Sheikh Mohammadi power grid station. The question is if it is that vulnerable then why the WAPDA and government don’t take concrete steps to protect it. I have seen that place the towers stand in the vast, open place (as they usually do). They can install protective grill to restrict the movement of people. Moreover they need to appoint guards. I know that sounds bizarre and expensive but such steps become necessary when the sensitive installations are endangered.

The other day another bomb went off in Peshawar – causing death and injuries to several people. Life is cheap, explosives are in abundance and there seem no end in sight.  

(I know it's such a grim post… but that is happening around. I thought to write about it)

James Rice and Mason West from Ascentium as well as Amber Case and Bram Pitoyo spent some time with each team in the afternoon - specifically, James spoke to us regarding presentation as our final pitch is this Friday.

Some advice James had regarding pitching to clients:

-  Remember to not talk over the client's head - you know this stuff inside and out, but do they?

-  Be organized!

-  Own the room - you've done the research and put the time in - now own it!

-  Be passionate - live it!  love it!

-  Find a way to people to think uniquely

-  Scared/nervous?  Get over it!  be proud of you strategy / work

-  Don't increase # of slides to decrease bullets per page...

-  Make it as real and engaging for the client as possible

At my desk, I had natural light coming from the skylight, and a bamboo tree that would lose a leaf once in awhile, floating to my desk, giving me the feeling I was outdoors. Their artwork is amazing and everywhere; once in awhile someone whisks by on a Razr scooter; and they have a foosball table (which sadly, I never got around to playing.) I am also saddened at my inability to make time to play for their softball team. One day, I hope.

Despite all the zaniness, there was a ton of hard work going on. These people are fierce. I honestly don't know how they get it all done with the number of meetings that occur throughout the day. It makes sense that all the meeting rooms are named for their unique characteristics...so you know where the hell you're going THIS time. Sky=top floor, big window; Forest=big huge table made of recycled wood; Dragonfly=I never went in there, but I assume it's named that because it's small; I can't remember the room that was right next to my desk, of course. It was the employee war room where ideas get thrown about. Damn, now that's going to bug me

***UPDATE- it just came to me. It is called the "Fire" room. That's where the passion and intensity happens.

Did I mention that DT Boyd has the sweetest toy collection in his office? It took all my strength not to touch the RUN-DMC dolls (still in the box) to see the accuracy of their shelltoes. Dylan, if you're listening, hook me up, yo.

En 2007, 240 000 passagers ont foulé le tarmac de l'aéroport de Dzaoudzi, sur Petite Terre. Si la piste longue n'est encore qu'à l'état de projet, l'aéroport continue de connaître une forte croissance, entre 11 et 13% chaque année.

La particularité de ce petit l'aéroport est qu'il est détenu et géré par l'Etat. Les investissements sont donc publics et devraient permettre prochainement la construction d'une nouvelle aérogare de 11 000m². En 2007, l'aéroport de Dzaoudzi a tout de même coûté à l'Etat environ 1 500 000€. D'habitude, ce sont des acteurs du privé comme les chambres de commerce et d'industrie qui exploitent les aéroports. C'est pourquoi « le projet de piste longue ne peut se faire qu'en sortant de ce système », assure Lionel Dutartre, directeur de l'aéroport.

L'exploitation de l'aéroport est du ressort de la direction générale de l'aviation civile (DGAC). Cette dernière est représentée par une trentaine de personnes qui collaborent avec les gendarmes, les pompiers, les policiers, les douaniers et le personnel de Mayotte Air Service, la seule société privée.

Les compagnies aériennes desservant Mayotte

Cinq compagnies se partagent les faveurs des contrôleurs aériens : Air Austral, la plus importante, Comores Aviation qui assure notamment l'éloignement des étrangers en situation irrégulière, Air Madagascar, Corsair Fly, Kenya Airways qui transporte les étudiants. Sans compter de petites compagnies comme Inter Iles. Elles atterrissent sur une piste longue de 1930 mètres sur 45 de large.

Mais pour redécoller en direct avec des gros-porteurs, « il faudrait une piste de 2600 mètres », explique Lionel Dutartre. Il note : « Le nombre de passagers augmente malgré l'absence d'une nouvelle piste. Si on avait une ligne directe, il faudrait la remplir. Et aujourd'hui, le trafic n'est pas suffisant... »

Des patrouilles de gendarmes aléatoires

Parmi les acteurs de l'Etat présents sur l'aéroport, il y a la gendarmerie. Depuis début juillet, ce sont quatre gendarmes permanents et deux gendarmes mobiles qui assurent la sûreté de leur zone réservée. Ils ont notamment pour mission de s'assurer que tout porteur d'un badge circule bien dans sa zone. A chaque lettre sa zone. A pour avion. B pour bagages. F pour fret et P pour passagers.

Ce sésame -qui contribue à une meilleure sécurité de l'aéroport- est délivré par la DGAC après une enquête de moralité. Cela fait un an et demi que le système est en place. « Avant, il y avait plus d'accès non contrôlés. Même s'il reste encore beaucoup de choses à faire, on progresse tous les jours », assure l'adjudant Petitjean.

Les gendarmes surveillent également les grillages, les clôtures. Et font quatre patrouilles par jour... comme une seule. Pour ne pas donner d'indications à d'éventuels curieux.

Pour l'adjudant Petitjean, aucun doute : « C'est un aéroport en devenir. Il y a plein de choses à mettre en place et nous sommes tous là pour faire avancer le projet. » Le MDL/C Bretin ajoute : « La coopération entre tous les services de l'Etat présents sur l'aéroport est permanente car sinon ça ne marche pas... »

Le contrôle des passagers, mission de la PAF

Autre acteur important : la police aux frontières (PAF). Ils sont 25 à s'occuper des contrôles des voyageurs à l'arrivée et au départ. « Nous gérons également le stationnement et le parking », explique Roland Boyce, chef de l'aéroport au niveau PAF. C'est aussi eux qui ont en charge les missions de reconduites à la frontière. En moyenne, une dizaine de « vols PAF », pouvant emmener trente clandestins, a lieu chaque semaine avec Comores Aviation.

Aux arrivées et aux départs, il n'y a que deux guichets. « Ca fait un peu bouchon quand les avions sont pleins », reconnaît Roland Boyce. Les voyageurs présentent une carte d'identité ou un passeport qui sont ensuite passés au lecteur optique pour vérifier qu'ils ne sont pas inscrits au fichier des personnes recherchées. « Et s'ils apparaissent, nous les interpellons. » Roland Boyce explique : « Cette semaine, nous avons eu trois faux documents. Souvent, ce sont des grands comoriens qui tentent de gagner la métropole. »

Si les voyageurs passent avec succès le contrôle de la PAF, ils vont ensuite récupérer leurs bagages. Leur reste enfin une dernière étape : la douane.

« L'énorme majorité des gens n'a rien à se reprocher »

Au choix, deux files : « rien à déclarer » et « marchandises à déclarer ». Jean Paul Souvielle, chef de la surveillance douanière à l'aéroport, reconnaît : « Pratiquement jamais personne n'emprunte la file rouge, celle où les gens ont quelque chose à déclarer. » Le service des douanes contrôle les voyageurs et s'occupe aussi des opérations de dédouanement. Les douaniers contrôlent les droits de taxes, s'assurent que les voyageurs ne transportent pas des stupéfiants, des végétaux, des espèces protégées... La lutte contre la contrefaçon est également une composante non négligeable de leur travail.

« Un peu d'expérience, un peu de flair et un peu de chance » permettent aux douaniers de faire de bonnes prises. Un contrôle dure au maximum cinq minutes, sauf si il y a un problème. Treize agents répartis par équipe de quatre, cinq contrôlent « au maximum une quinzaine de personnes sur un gros porteur qui peut en contenir 350 ». La raison : « Les passagers sortent tous en même temps et on ne peut pas se permettre de les bloquer. Donc quand le banc de contrôle est plein, on évite de sélectionner d'autres voyageurs et de les faire attendre... », assure Jean-Paul Souvielle.

Les douaniers contrôlent environ 100 à 150 personnes par jour. Ils assurent aussi le contrôle de sûreté des bagages soute grâce à deux appareils à rayons X. Le plus souvent, ce sont des coraux et des coquillages, interdits de quitter le territoire mahorais, qui sont découverts dans les valises.

Reste qu'à l'arrivée, après quinze heures de vol, se faire contrôler par un douanier n'est jamais très agréable. Mais Jean-Paul Souvielle l'assure : « On part du principe que l'énorme majorité des gens n'a rien à se reprocher... »

From Kent, Hallie and the Anvil team, I’ve really learned to be more effective & efficient with my time and work by revamping the way in which I approach & accomplish tasks.

Follow are a handful of my takeaways regarding maximizing efficiency and productivity:

1. Make a to-do list and actually follow it
2. Set deadlines and stick with them
3. Plan in advance, prioritize, allocate and delegate
4. Take on one task at a time and finish it before moving on – rather than having facebook, wordpress, cnn, gmail., ical, Pandora, adfeed, etc. etc. etc. open at one time, take on one task at a time, complete it, then move on to the next taks.
5. Rather that working to improve your weaknesses, invest time in nurturing your strengths (personal favorite!)
