Sobre por qué creo que Sandra Muentes no va a ganar.

Buscaba por donde empezar a escribir sobre este tema. Recordaba haber visto algún blog hace varios meses en el que denunciaban que a una postulante no la habían dejado cantar porque "era demasiado buena". Eso, sumado a que el 100% de realyties me parecen de lo peor de la televisión y el más bajo facilismo con millonaria inversión, definen - desde mi punto de vista - a estos programas como un asco.

Pero hoy tengo la clara sensación de que los medios han rebasado los límites del ridículo: armar notas periodísticas, entrevistas a la madre de "nuestra" representante ¿cuando me importó a mí una adolescente y su desesperación por volverse famosa buscando el camino más fácil? comentarios por todos lados, el comercio colgado de la noticia. El canal 4, desde hace un tiempo convertido en un ridículo burdel cuentasangre, al límite de la moral y al límite del morbo, alimentando miedos y basureando a la gente (aquí hago un alto para dejar de renegar de un canal que considera más importante un choque de combis y se olvida de las cosas importantes ¿quién será el que define sus noticas? ¿el conde pátula?). El canal 5 haciendo alarde de la cobertura. Los medios han rebasado sus propios límites, digo, porque han demostrado que lo que les interesa es treparse al carro de lo temporal e intrascendente.

American Idol es un negocio (igual Latin American Idol, igual Bailando por un Sueño, igual que todos esos programas). Un negocio millonario. Que hagan publicidad no es problema. El problema es que utilicen informativos para eso. ¿Tan poco importante es nuestro país y todo lo que pasa en él para que los medios gasten su tiempo (y el nuestro cuando queremos ver noticias), dinero, recursos, en algo que desaparecerá en un santiamén.

Eso primero, además de ser un buen motivo para renegar de todo lo que pasa en la caja boba.
Segundo, el título del post (ojalá me equivoque): LAI es un negocio. Ya están ganando millones con los mensajes y llamadas que reciben. Y obvio que quien gane tendrá que ser rentable. Por lo menos con el primer disco. Y los peruanos no compramos un disco original. Si es que Sandra Muentes gana, lo primero será conseguir una copia del disco en cualquier esquina a la enésima parte de lo que querrá SONY por cada copia. Hasta ahora ella sigue pasando gracias a las muestras de apoyo (transformado en plata para el organizador). Y en Argentina, México, en otros países no van a comprar el disco del ganador de otro país. Repito: OJALA ME EQUIVOQUE.

Como todo lo importante de ese programa es el dinero, es obvio que el ganador no será peruano. porque no es rentable.

Inauguran asfaltado de la calle Grau en Chiclín

Como inicio de las celebraciones de fiestas patrias, la municipalidad distrital de Chicama puso en servicio este fin de semana, el asfaltado de la calle Grau en el centro poblado Chiclín, ejecutado a un costo de 58 mil 812 nuevos soles y que beneficiará a 40 familias y a los transeúntes, en su mayoría escolares, que usan esta vía.

Acompañada de su pleno de regidores, la alcaldesa de Chicama, Mirtha Sánchez Zafra, conjuntamente con los padrinos Justo Torres Vera y Catalina Anacleto Martell, inauguró esta anhelada obra. “El asfaltado de la calle Grau se ha hecho de acuerdo con un expediente técnico, lo que asegura la calidad de los trabajos que hoy día entregamos en uso”, destacó la autoridad edil.

Sánchez Zafra rememoró los trabajos realizados por la comuna chicamera en Chiclín, como son el cerco perimétrico del centro educativo Rafael Larco Herrera, la remodelación de la plazuela Cristo Rey, remodelación del parque infantil, construcción del boulevard “Señor de la Caña”, construcción de las veredas del sector Laguna y de las calles Grau y Bélgica, entre otros.

El párroco de la iglesia Jesús de Nazareth de Chiclín, Jovino García Moretto, bendijo la obra de asfaltado y aprovechó la oportunidad para agradecer el apoyo decisivo de la alcaldesa en la restauración de la capilla “Señor de la Caña” recientemente elevada a la categoría de santuario, constituyéndose junto al santuario “Señor de los Milagros de Paiján”, los dos únicos en la arquidiócesis de Trujillo consagrados a Jesucristo. “Una obra, por más pequeña que sea, siempre tiene que ser reconocida, porque su propósito es el bienestar y el servicio a la comunidad y la mejora de la persona humana”, reflexionó el padre Jovino García.

Asimismo, la alcaldesa de Chicama hizo entrega de dos modernas computadoras con sus respectivos periféricos, a los centros educativos Rafael Larco Herrera (primaria) e Inca Gracilazo de la Vega (secundaria). Ambos equipos de cómputo incidirán positivamente en el servicio educativo que brindan estas instituciones.

Travel preparation

Our travel preparations for our trip to Peru are slowely taking form. I did what I always do: Buying loads of books and collecting links. Reading, reading, reading.

What we have by now is: we already booked our flights to and from Peru and our stopover in NYC.

What we have to do next: figuring out our itinerary and booking the domnestic flights - and vaccination.

I have to admit that I am getting a bit nervous. It's the first time I leave Europe and I feel that I might be spoiled and not survivable somewhere else. In addition, we both have a terrible lot to do at the moment, so we seldomly find the time to talk it all over.

Well yes, it's an adventure - and that's what I wanted!

I'll keep you updated.

the shoe from Peru

as i've written about in the past, i'm part of a new photography collective called 15x100. one of our first projects is to photograph an abandoned shoe that originated in Lima, Peru. it came to me by way of Argentina and after doing a tour of the States, the shoe will head to Europe (and Asia, i think).

i'm looking forward to photographing the shoe, but not to unwraping that beautiful little package.

Entregan Pabellón Nacional a Sixto Barrera

(Lima) El presidente del Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD), Arturo Woodman, entregó al luchador Sixto Barrera el Pabellón Nacional que llevará la delegación rojiblanca en la inauguración de los Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing.

La solemne ceremonia también estuvo liderada por el presidente del Comité Olímpico Peruano (COI), Carlos Paz Soldán, quien deseó mucha suerte a los deportistas en el evento deportivo más importante del mundo.“En este momento ustedes son los embajadores del Perú. Les deseo mucha suerte. Sé que les va a ir muy bien, porque veo muchas ganas en ustedes”, indicó Paz Soldán.

Por parte de la delegación bicolor, Sixto Barrera indicó estar seguro de que todos los deportistas peruanos dejarán el nombre del país en alto.

Además del abanderado nacional estuvieron presentes Peter López (judo), Claudia Rivero (bádminton), Claudia Cornejo (halterofilia), Marco Matellini (tiro) y Valeria Silva (natación).

La cita también sirvió para entregar los uniformes que vestirán los representantes peruanos en el país asiático.

Cabe señalar que faltaron a la ceremonia los deportistas Louis Tristán (salto largo), Constantino León y María Portilla(maratón), Paloma Smichdt (vela), Maria Luisa Doig (esgrima), Emmanuel Crescimbeni (natación), Carlos Zegarra (judo). Estos se encuentran entrenando en el extranjero.

Book Review: Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa

Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter (1977) by Mario Vargas Llosa represents Peru in my ongoing effort to read a work of fiction by an author from every nation on the Earth called Around the World for a Good Book. The supposedly autobiographical novel is told from the point of view of Marito a law student who also works producing news updates for Lima's high-brow station, but dreams of becoming a writer. When Marito is 18, two people come into his life and it turns his life upside down. The first is Aunt Julia, the ex-wife of Marito's uncle, with whom he falls in love with despite being half her age. The other is Pedro Comacho, a work-a-holic writer of radio serials who gains great acclaim creating lurid soap operas for the more popular low-brow radio station.

Chapters of the book alternate between Marito narrating how he woos and eventually tries to marry Aunt Julia in a absurdly complex series of events (and still refers to her as "Aunt" the whole time). If that doesn't seem soap operish enough, the chapters in-between are the plots of Comacho's radio serials which come across as well-constructed, gripping short stories. Yet, as the character Comacho works his way to a nervous breakdown, the stories become more confusing with characters showing up from other stories. Is it a masterpiece of expiremental literature or is he just going insane?

Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter is funny, sexy, and satirical. Writers in particular are shown up for their pretension while at the same time Vargas Llosa shows the skill and effor that goes into their craft. The novel also a nice flavor of Lima in the 1950's. This is an enjoyable, fun but not dumb novel that I recommend highly.

Peru wants jail for nude woman using flag as saddle

LIMA (Reuters) - A naked model photographed using Peru's flag as a saddle while mounted on a horse will face charges that could put her in jail for up to four years for offending patriotic symbols, the country's defense minister said on Wednesday.

The suggestive shot of Leysi Suarez, whose main job is dancing for the band Alma Bella, or Beautiful Soul, was splashed on the cover of DFarandula magazine and has caused a political uproar as Peru prepares to celebrate the 187th anniversary of its independence from Spain on Monday.

"These are patriotic symbols that demand total respect, and using them improperly requires punishment," Defense Minister Antero Flores told reporters. "This is an offense."

Flores has ordered a public prosecutor to take up the case and file charges.

Suarez said it was patriotic to pose for the photo.

"I haven't committed a crime. I love Peru and show it with my body and soul," the dancer said on RPP radio.

Mario Amoretti, a well-known lawyer, said it depends in part on how Peru's red-and-white flag was used.

"It's one thing to cover your body with the flag, but quite another thing to be naked and using it as a horse's saddle," he said.

a - Lima to Barranca

The outskirts of the city are the outskirts of a city: tire shops and outdoor food-stands and grim hovels, then a couple of outlying villages in which bare, square, brown buildings are hardly distinguishable from the brown, barren hillsides they perch on, then the sudden silence of a vast desert with distant peaks poking up from sun-brightened fog from the sea, invisible somewhere nearby to our left. The sudden silence and the sudden absence of movement, clutter, and humanity is startling. Disorienting.

When we pause to step out and shoot a couple of quick shots of our surroundings, I suddenly recognize our vulnerability. All over Mexico I’ve driven or walked where I probably shouldn’t, without the wit to think twice about it; but people have said and written a great deal about the dangers of violent theft in Peru. Too, although I know Mexico and have a feeling for it, I’m new here. Everyone thinks we’re crazy. Maybe we are. Maybe someone who has spotted our cameras will waylay us further on. I do not think so; but for once I’m uneasy.

The fog-hugged, barren landscape is like crossing some other planet. Part of it reminds Ragna of the volcanic moonscapes near Keflavik.

We are stopped twice at police check-points. They ask where we’re going and where we’re from, laugh amiably at my bad Spanish, and wave us on. It’s always pleasant to be a source of amusement to everyone. (By and large, the police are interested in something other than foreign visitors, and tend to stop trucks more than cars. Speeding doesn’t seem to interest them too much.)

The Pan American Highway is a narrow, two-lane road. In one small town perhaps 20 km. before Barranca, traffic stops behind a funeral. There’s a hearse, then several dozen mourners walking behind it, then a car with the family in it, then us, as the oncoming lane becomes a battleground between its rightful possessors and impatient vehicles from behind us. Eventually we too muscle into the opposite lane and pass the funeral.

We arrive in Barranca in darkness. It’s a bee-hive of traffic and pedestrians. The traffic is mostly small vehicles that look like motorcycles onto which someone has grafted a frame and a back-seat, then covered it with plastic to make a sort of taxi. The plastic covers are decorated with bright colors, decals, and the names or slogans of the drivers. At first it doesn’t look like a pleasant town: dusty, noisy, crowded. The hotel looks unappealing, but turns out to be clean and pleasant, and even has a pool. And a restaurant.

We try the restaurant. It is simple and plain. We are tired and hungry. When we order wine, the cashier climbs onto her stool and locates a small bottle on a shelf above her. There’s something sweet about the fact that the waitress initially pours out a bit of wine for me to taste and approve, before filling our glasses – then returns periodically, pouring carefully with a paper napkin wrapped around the bottle’s neck, always standing on the correct side of the person being served. I notice on a cardboard coaster that this is the Chavin Hotel and Convention Center.

Up early in the morning, I photograph the moto-taxis and watch street life in Barranca.

The moto-taxis, mostly blue with a few red ones and the occasional bright yellow, are decorated with a variety of cartoon characters, heroic mottos, and religious sayings or icons. And Che. They are simple and economical: with small engines, and plastic walls and roofs, they move a small number of human beings from one place to another without dragging tons of metal and aluminum along. The squarish shapes of their covers make them look faintly like some form of vehicle from an earlier century. The personalized decorations suggest a jaunty independence.

While Disney’s and other cartoon characters are the most frequent faces grinning at us from the plastic sides and rear of the things, the more sober faces of the Virgin Mary and Che Guevara are also visible.

Old enough to recall when Che was alive, and to have admired him, I wonder in passing how much his appearance on a moto-taxi reflects the driver’s political views and how much he’s just another recognizable icon, like Daffy Duck.

b - Barranca to Trujillo [22-23 April]

Tuesday we drive on toward Trujillo. Casma seems a pleasant town. We mosey through it, shooting pictures on the street and vaguely looking for the La Poinsella Hotel. Ragna gets out once to film some kids, then enthralls them by showing them themselves on video.

The hotel is a sudden green and tranquil oasis. Peaceful. Quiet. So nearly deserted that as we wander back toward the pool and pool-side bar we aren’t too sure it’s open. We spend an hour there, eating by the pool and chatting with a woman who runs the place. It’s a worthy alternative to Barranca as a place to break the journey to Trujillo. [add pix?]

Later, surrounded by sand, we pause. Hundreds of meters away there’s a small bay with a couple of shacks, a small fishing boat pulled up on the sand, and some nice rocks in the sea.

I spot a dog. Ant-like at this distance, he is running from the sea across the sand, followed by a second dog, toward the road behind us, and when I glance back down the road there is a car pulling out from the left shoulder and a man walking toward the home, and I realize the dogs are running out to greet him, he has come home. It’s an appealing home, too. I watch. At this distance, the dogs seem to be running in slow motion, and have a long way to go. We are gone before they reach him.

"That’s a nice place to live," I remark.

"There are a lot of nice places to live," Ragna replies. Her voice is guarded. She is used to my readiness to romanticize all sorts of places. She has heard me tell her we should buy the house below the waterfall on the way to Snaefellsnes, and that I could happily live in the abandoned farmhouse near the end of the road along the fjord at Seydisfjordur, and has watched me discuss vacant land in a ghost town in Mexico.

This place isn’t on that level. Just looks like someone lives a very peaceful life there.

But avoid Chimbote! We’d read that it smelled bad because of fish-rendering plants there. It does. At least today, it smells so foul that you don’t even want to drive slowly through it. You try to hold your breath, but the town’s just big enough and traffic just slow enough to make that impossible.

Driving in Peru can be arduous. It is not primarily the fault of Peruvian drivers. If the authorities helped them with better traffic engineering – that is, with more and clearer statements of what’s expected of them – that would help.

I’m reminded of the difference between Boston and New York in my youth, and perhaps still. New York, particularly Manhattan, was laid out primarily in right-angled blocks, and at each four-way intersection each driver’s rights were made clear by a red or green light, a blinking yellow light in one direction and a blinking red light in the other, or a sign saying "Stop", "Yield", or "No Left Turn." In Boston, little villages grew more haphazardly into a metropolis, and often four, five, or six streets fed into a single intersection, at various odd angles, and because there were so many blinking lights it wasn’t clear who, if anyone, had the right of way. Not surprisingly, while New York drivers were certainly aggressive within the rules, and bent them at times, Boston drivers simply bluffed each other as effectively as they could.

Peru is similar. In Lima, two apparently main roads meet at right angles, with little clear indication of who has the right of way. Often there are no traffic lights and the traffic on the dominant street is so thick that if drivers on the other street didn’t lurch out into the middle of the intersection, they’d never get across. It’s a gigantic multi-player game of chicken.

Within moments of setting out in the morning you are a Peruvian driver too. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t get anywhere, and you’d be listening to a vast cacophony of horns from behind you. Too, half-measures are dangerous: jump out aggressively and take what you can get, and the other drivers know your intentions and adjust. Drive in what we might consider a more "normal" fashion and you confuse everyone, making it far more possible that two vehicles will try to occupy the same ground.

Our arrival in Trujillo is frustrating. The narrow streets, many closed off temporarily for some reason, are clogged with cabs and other vehicles. It’s dark, there are few visible street signs, and the frustrated cab-drivers are impatient with anyone dawdling through an intersection trying to spot a sign. When I can spot enough information to locate on the map where we are and where we are going, the one-way streets and closures hamper my ability to get there. In addition, Ragna vetoes the first place I take us to, and the second has no room for us.

Eventually we find a room, but it is tiny. It is also impossible to sleep in, because of the barking dogs and other noise.

SOUTHERN COPPER (GRUPO MÉXICO) CAE 24 PCT EN 2DO TRIMISTRE.

La cuprífera Southern Copper Corp. reportó el jueves que sus ganancias cayeron un 24 por ciento en el segundo trimestre frente al mismo lapso del 2007, afectadas por menores ventas netas e incrementos de los costos de combustible, energía y repuestos.

Las utilidades netas de de Southern Copper <SPC.LM> <PCU.N>, controlada por Grupo México <GMEXICOB.MX>, alcanzaron los 548,5 millones de dólares entre abril y junio, en comparación con los 726 millones de dólares del mismo período del año anterior, dijo la firma en un comunicado.

Con este resultado, Southern Copper acumuló ganancias por 1.113,5 millones de dólares en el primer semestre, frente a los 1.277,6 millones de dólares de los primeros seis meses del 2007.

Southern Copper, una de las principales productoras mundiales de cobre, opera en Perú la refinería Ilo y las minas Toquepala y Cuajone. En México, la firma opera las minas Cananea y La Caridad.

"Las utilidades netas han sido afectadas por los significativos incrementos a nivel mundial de los costos de combustibles, energía y repuestos", explicó la minera.

Southern Copper detalló que sus ventas netas sumaron en el segundo trimestre 1.461,8 millones de dólares, en comparación con los 1.826,5 millones de dólares del similar lapso del año previo.

"El cambio en las ventas netas se vio afectado por la menor producción de cobre y de algunos de nuestros subproductos principalmente debido a la continuación de la huelga en Cananea, parcialmente compensados por el alto precio de los metales y el mayor volumen de ventas de molibdeno, plomo, oro y ácido sulfúrico", explicó.

La compañía informó que tiene programado invertir aproximadamente 480 millones de dólares en el 2008 en proyectos de capital y programas de exploración. Ello incluye inversiones en el proyecto Tía María en Perú y la expansión de la capacidad de Toquepala y Cuajone.

La empresa detalló además que el total de producción de mina entre abril y junio fue de 117.250 toneladas de cobre, en comparación con las 158.177 toneladas del segundo trimestre del año pasado.

"La disminución se debió mayormente a las huelgas en algunas de nuestras operaciones mexicanas y en menor parte a menores leyes de cobre en Toquepala", afirmó.

Ahora que ya es posible registrar dominios .pe (Perú), varias son las posibilidades de registrar un buen nombre de dominio, tal es el caso de Inicia.pe, una página de inicio centrada en los peruanos.

A primera vista el diseño es bastante similar a iGoogle, incluye un buen multibuscador para sitio web, imágenes, videos, música, blogs, noticias, descargas, compras y más.

También hay enlaces a los principales portales, servicios, radios, cines, avisos y sitios web de compras de los peruanos, todo un acierto!

Creo que le falta mejorar un poco, me gustaría una funcionalidad como la de poder organizar lo que más uso en una página de inicio, recién ha sido lanzado asi que seguro irán aplicando mejoras con el tiempo, el servicio promete.

Sub-17 de Perú debuta hoy en cuadrangular internacional frente a Bolivia

La selección peruana Sub-17, que dirige Juan José Oré debutará hoy en el cuadrangular “Copa Amazónica” frente a Bolivia, que servirá de preparación con miras a su participación en el Sudamericano de Chile 2009.

Este encuentro se jugará en el estadio Max Augustin de Iquitos desde las 21:00 horas. Dos horas antes El Salvador enfrentará a Chile.

Perú rivalizará ante sus similares de Bolivia, El Salvador y Chile.

Para este cuadrangular las selecciones de El Salvador y Bolivia llegaron con bastante anticipación a Lima, mientras que Chile arribó ayer.

Asimismo, las tres delegaciones, junto a Perú, recién enrumbarán a Iquitos hoy por la mañana.

En la segunda jornada, que se disputará el domingo, Perú chocará con Chile. Luego, en la fecha final del martes próximo, jugará con El Salvador.

Asta este chiar o veste bună, mai ales de când studiile au demonstrat că sparanghelul scade colesterolul până la limitele normale! Aşadar, viitorii colonişti marţieni vor duce o viaţă sănătoasă.

Albă ca Zăpada

Rezultatele preliminare ale analizei solului demonstrează că "apa în stare lichidă a fost prezentă pe solul marţian la un anumit moment în istoria sa şi ar putea fi în prezent sub scoarţa marţiană". De altfel, era un lucru bănuit dintotdeauna şi ştiut cu certitudine de când Phoenix a excavat, la 15 iunie, un şanţ în solul arctic de pe Marte.

Opt bucăţele dintr-un material strălucitor au fost identificate de către cercetătorii de la NASA ca fiind gheaţă, când au observat, patru zile mai târziu, că fragmentele s-au evaporat.

"Bucăţile de material au dispărut complet pe parcursul a câtorva zile, dovadă perfectă că este vorba de gheaţă. Iniţial, unii au crezut că putea fi sare, însă aceasta nu ar fi trecut prin procesul de sublimare", a declarat dr. Peter H. Smith de la Universitatea din Arizona, coordonatorul-şef al misiunii.

Teoria este susţinută şi de o altă săpătură, în care braţul robotizat al sondei Phoenix s-a ciocnit de o suprafaţă dură, despre care se credea că ar fi un strat de gheaţă, care nu a putut fi străpunsă nici după trei încercări.

Noul şanţ a fost numit sugestiv "Albă ca Zăpada 2", iar suprafaţa dură pe care o adăposteşte se află la acelaşi nivel, sub solul marţian, cu fragmentele albe găsite anterior. Cercetătorii NASA plănuiesc acum să străpungă această suprafaţă cu un burghiu aflat în dotarea sondei, pentru a obţine câteva mostre.

Phoenix a ajuns pe Marte pe 25 mai, găsirea dovezilor că există gheaţă pe Planeta Roşie fiind cel mai important obiectiv, după ce, în 2002, măsurătorile realizate de sonda Odyssey au sugerat că solul din regiunea arctică marţiană ascunde, la doar câţiva centimetri dedesubt, cantităţi masive de apă în stare solidă.

Clima marţiană este în prezent prea rece pentru a permite prezenţa apei în formă lichidă, însă, în trecut, dacă axa planetei s-ar fi înclinat ocazional, regiunile polare ar fi putut înregistra temperaturi de peste zero grade Celsius.

Vântul solar interacţionează direct cu ionosfera marţiană, din această cauză atmosfera fiind mai rarefiată decât în mod normal. Presiunea atmosferică la suprafaţă are o valoare de doar 0,7-0,9 kPa, în comparaţie cu cea a Pământului, de 101.3 kPa.

Compoziţia atmosferei este de 95% dioxid de carbon, 3% nitrogen, 1,6% argon, conţinând urme de oxigen şi apă. Viaţa la suprafaţa planetei ar fi posibilă doar în condiţii amenajate, iar ingredientul esenţial este apa.

Oamenii de ştiinţă cred că zona în care se află acum sonda Phoenix ar fi putut fi, cândva, un mediu capabil să susţină forme de viaţă, iar acestea ar fi putut să-şi continue existenţa dacă s-ar fi adăpostit în subsol atunci când planeta şi-a pierdut magnetosfera. Este posibil să se fi întâmplat aşa.

Viaţă subterană

Scanerele de pe Mars Odyssey au descoperit un complex de şapte peşteri, ale căror intrări au fost fotografiate în detaliu.

Ele se află în zona vulcanică "Arsia Mons" şi ar putea fi, conform specialiştilor de la NASA, singurele adăposturi naturale care ar putea proteja dezvoltarea unor forme de viaţă primitive şi ar putea adăposti apă în formă lichidă.

Cu deschizături verticale, având adâncimi de la 80 de metri la 130 de metri, cele şapte peşteri sunt ferite de particulele de energie care bombardează suprafaţa planetei, de radiaţiile ultraviolete, variaţiile bruşte de temperatură de la 20oC la –140oC, păstrând condiţii constante pentru un habitat subteran.

Marte are cele mai puternice furtuni de nisip din sistemul solar, care se stârnesc, cu predilecţie, când planeta este în poziţia cea mai apropiată de Soare, crescând temperatura la sol.

Trecutul lui Marte, descifrat în particulele de gheaţă

Existenţa metanului indică faptul că pe planetă a existat şi există o sursă de viaţă bazată pe carbon. Sursa generatoare de metan ar putea fi, conform cercetătorilor de la NASA, microorganisme, ca metanogenele. Cert este că poveştile cu marţieni care au existat întotdeauna în folclorul popoarelor pot avea un sâmbure de adevăr.

Oamenii de ştiinţă sunt încrezători că vor afla trecutul Planetei Roşii studiind particulele de gheaţă. Dacă gheaţa conţine impurităţi, acest lucru poate oferi informaţii despre trecutul climatic. Marte s-a format, ca şi Pământul, în urmă cu 4,6 miliarde de ani.

Este posibil ca ea să fi trecut şi printr-o perioadă umedă, propice unei vieţi diversificate la nivelul solului. Alţi doi roboţi americani, Opportunity şi Spirit, care explorează suprafaţa lui Marte la ecuator, au descoperit indicii ale prezenţei apei în trecutul planetei.

Anotimpurile marţiene

Marte are anotimpuri care se aseamănă celor de pe Pământ, însă sunt de două ori mai lungi, iar distanţa mai mare faţă de Soare face ca anul marţian să fie de aproape două ori mai mare ca al planetei noastre, iar ziua marţiană durează cu o jumătate de oră mai mult decât ziua terestră.

În lunile de iarnă, când polii sunt permanent în umbră, suprafaţa îngheaţă, iar 25-30% din întreaga atmosferă se condensează în bucăţi groase de gheaţă din CO2. Totuşi, geografia planetei arată că a avut o activitate tectonică, vulcanică, iar oceanele acopereau o mare parte din planetă, polii fiind acoperiţi cu gheaţă, ca Terra.

În 1840, după 10 ani de studiu, Mädler desena prima hartă a planetei. Un crater mic, numit "Airy-0", localizat în "Sinus Meridiani", a reprezentat punctul prin care trece meridianul de 0.0° longitudine. Suprafaţa planetei prezintă câmpii plane, acoperite cu praf şi nisip bogat în oxid de fier roşiatic, considerate "continente", cărora li s-au dat nume ca "Arabia Terra" sau "Amazonis Planitia".

„Şesurile", considerate "mări", poartă denumiri ca "Mare Erythraeum", "Mare Sirenum" şi "Aurorae Sinus". Scutul vulcanic este format din mai mulţi vulcani, dintre care "Olympus Mons" (Muntele Olimpus), este cel mai înalt munte cunoscut din sistemul solar. Are 25 km înălţime şi o bază de 600 km în diametru.

În aceeaşi regiune se află alţi trei vulcani, "Arsia Mons" (17 km înălţime), "Pavonis Mons" (14 km înălţime) şi "Ascraeus Mons" (18 km înălţime), şi cel mai mare canion, "Valles Marineris", lung de 4.000 km şi adânc de 7 km. Pe Marte sunt şi numeroase cratere de impact. Cel mai mare crater de pe Marte este "Hellas Planitia", care are 2.000 km în diametru şi 6 km adâncime.

Sfinxul fotografiat de Viking

Conform studiilor cu tehnologie ultramodernă, la "faţa locului" s-a aflat că înfăţişarea roşiatică a planetei se datorează oxidului de fier de la suprafaţă. Este uimitor cum, încă din antichitate, astrologii ştiau că Marte era asociată cu fierul, astfel guvernând sistemul sanguin.

În plus, astrologii considerau că Planeta Roşie guvernează capul şi faţa (!!). Să fi ştiut astrologii despre figura Sfinxului de pe Marte, fotografiat de sonda Viking în 1976? De ce nu, din moment ce din mitologia antică ne parvin povestiri despre o civilizaţie misterioasă, venită de pe altă planetă, Nibiru, care construise pe Marte un avanpost.

Survolând sectorul "Cydonia", o întinsă suprafaţă plană din emisfera nordică, sonda Viking a fotografiat o suprafaţă asemănătoare cu un chip uman, foarte bine conturată, ce părea să scruteze spaţiul, având o lacrimă pe obrazul stâng. Conturul oval avea doi ochi, nas, gură, bărbie, frunte şi un păr care încadra faţa, ca în picturile egiptene.

Cercetătorii de la NASA au negat existenţa unui asemenea chip, spunând că era vorba de un joc de lumini şi umbre, aparatura fotografică a sondei spaţiale nefiind foarte performantă. Imaginile surprinse în 1998 de Mars Global Surveyor, sub o lumină diferită şi cu o rezoluţie mult mai bună, arătau un Sfinx care îşi pierdea conturul precis, deşi, prelucrate cu profesionism, chipul aducea mult mai bine cu Sfinxul egiptean.

Însă fotografiile publicate de NASA ilustrau doar o masă amorfă, un munte cu nişte "cratere" foarte ciudate ca poziţionare. Specialiştii NASA sunt zgârciţi cu explicaţiile despre Cydonia, de aceea pare bizar că s-a născut un folclor fabulos legat de această regiune.

Nu departe de "faţa care plânge", transmiţând parcă un mesaj disperat către alte vieţuitoare ale galaxiei, Viking a fotografiat o altă formă de relief ciudată, o piramidă, care poartă numele "D&M", după numele celor care au pus-o în evidenţă, DiPietro şi Molenaar.

Aceştia au concluzionat, în urma analizării fotografiilor, că nu era o piramidă obişnuită, ci una cu cinci feţe, părea ca să fie rodul eroziunilor vântului turbat de pe Marte. Nebunia de-abia acum începea. Foarte aproape de piramidă, DiPietro şi Molenaar au „descoperit" şi ruinele unui oraş, dar şi pe cele ale unei fortăreţe.

Cydonia se părea că fusese în "antichitatea" Planetei Roşii un oraş de câmpie foarte activ. Cea mai mare ciudăţenie e faptul că întregul complex este poziţionat după aceleaşi coordonate ca şi cel de la Gizeh.

Staţia marţiană a zeilor sumerieni

Mitologia sumeriană, prima mărturie scrisă din istoria omenirii, începe cu întâmplări de pe altă planetă, Nibiru, a zecea din sistemul nostru solar, de unde "zeii" au coborât pe Pământ. În drumul lor spaţial, Pământul era considerat a şaptea planetă, numită ŞU.GI. Ei au lăsat coordonatele numerice ale "căii lui Enlil" pe un astrolab găsit în ruinele bibliotecii de la Ninive şi aflată acum la Muzeul Britanic din Londra.

Astrolabul indică şi "primul popas" al călătoriei spaţiale dintre Nibiru şi Terra, pe planeta Marte (indicată de steaua cu şase colţuri, fiind considerată a şasea planetă spre Terra). Sumerienii o numeau planeta APIN, care, prin traducerea semnelor pictografice, înseamnă "acolo unde se stabileşte calea cea bună". Calea lui Enlil, "Stăpânul Comenzii", printre planete este descrisă pe planisferă în opt segmente, care conţin instrucţiuni clare de zbor.

Detaliile despre traseul printre planete sunt conţinute de chiar denumirea lor: Pluto – "Paznicul lui ŞU", unde ŞU indică porţiunea de spaţiu care cuprinde cele şapte planete importante, Pluto fiind prima pe "calea" zeilor, Neptun -"Cea cu vegetaţie mlăştinoasă" (!!), Uranus - "Planeta care este dublă", părând a fi sora geamănă a planetei Neptun, care era descrisă ca "planeta strălucitoare a vieţii verzi".

Dincolo de Uranus, gigantica planetă Saturn, cu un câmp gravitaţional uriaş, era numită "Marele Ucigaş", pentru că, aşa cum descrie un alt text, "din cauza furtunilor sale înşelătoare, Zburătorul Suprem s-a zdrobit de ea şi toţi şi-au găsit moartea". Urma Jupiter, BARBARU, "strălucitoarea", "călăuza cea bună din ceruri", după care urma "brăţara" de asteroizi care "desparte apele cerului de sus de apele cerului de jos".

În sfârşit, Marte, "lumina de la poarta apelor", "Primul Popas", "unde se stabileşte calea cea bună" spre Şu.Gi, a şaptea planetă, Terra. Unii istorici spun că aceste "metafore şi epitete" ţin de cosmogonia sumeriană, dar specialişti în aeronautică sunt de părere că este vorba de un zbor spaţial, mai ales datorită coordonatelor numerice, nedescifrate încă, deoarece nu se ştiu unităţile de măsură folosite de "zeii" sumerieni.

O plăcuţă de lut, cu o vechime de 4.500 de ani, care acum poate fi găsită într-un muzeu din St. Petersburg, Rusia, descrie legătura dintre Pământ şi staţia de pe Marte. Zeul Enlil (indicat de semilună, simbolul său), aflat pe Pământ (indicat de cele şapte cercuri) se află într-o legătură de comunicaţie cu un personaj de pe Marte (indicată de steaua cu şase colţuri), personaj al cărui costum îl arată un zeu al adâncurilor.

E posibil ca şi pe vremea zeilor sumerieni, planeta Marte să fi avut ocean subteran şi acolo să fi fost staţia "zeilor". Între cei doi se află un desen stilizat care seamănă cu un satelit, iar la mijloc ceva ce seamănă cu o staţie orbitală, dotată cu panouri solare şi antene.

Misiunea anunakilor

Conform descifrării textelor sumeriene de către istoricul şi arheologul Zacharia Sitchin, planeta Nibiru, de unde veniseră zeii sumerieni, reprezentată de o cruce cu raze, face parte tot din sistemul nostru solar. Nibiru are, însă, o orbită eliptică foarte alungită şi îi trebuie 3.600 de ani pământeni pentru a efectua o rotaţie completă în jurul Soarelui, iar atunci când se apropie de Terra, stârneşte multe cataclisme.

Scrierile sumeriene îi numesc pe cei sosiţi de pe Nibiru "anunaki", care se traduce literalmente prin „cei care au venit din cer pe pământ". Dat fiind ritmul biologic al planetei lor, aveau o viaţă foarte lungă şi păreau nemuritori pentru pământeni, de aceea i-au şi crezut zei, deşi textele sumeriene arătau exact cine erau şi de unde veniseră.

Şi mai ales de ce - să caute aur, pentru că atmosfera planetei lor se deteriorase, ceea ce se pare că s-a întâmplat şi cu Marte, şi o puteau reface prin pulbere de aur. Enki, fratele lui Enlil, şi sora lor, Ninharsag, au amestecat ADN-ul primatelor găsite pe Pământ cu ADN-ul lor, creând astfel omul, lucrare povestită în multe epopei care arată câte greşeli genetice şi câte experienţe au făcut până au obţinut oameni "după chipul şi asemănarea" anunakilor, "înalţi, cu piele albă, blonzi".

Numărul anunakilor pare a fi fost 900, 600 veniţi pe Pământ în grupuri de câte 50, în "şemuri", aparate de zbor, alţi 300 fiind numiţi după funcţia lor, "igigi", "cei care văd şi se rotesc în jurul Terrei", probabil aflaţi pe staţii orbitale. Mai târziu, spre supărarea lui Enlil, anunaki le-au găsit foarte atrăgătoare pe fiicele oamenilor, şi s-au căsătorit cu ele, însă, din unirea lor, s-au născut uriaşii din vechime.

Anunaki le-au dat copiilor lor informaţii privind crearea sistemului solar, date astronomice, i-au învăţat agricultură, cum să-şi construiască oraşe, i-au uns regi şi unora le-au dat chiar şi aparate simple de zbor, dar, ce era mai important, i-au învăţat, la un moment dat, că există un singur Dumnezeu, pe care îl venerau şi ei. Apoi au plecat. Sau nu. Unde se încheie misiunea anunakilor, începe misiunea pământenilor.

Agenţia Spaţială Europeană speră să trimită oameni pe Marte prin 2030-2035. Dar înainte de asta, agenţia va lansa o misiune de recunoaştere, ExoMars, în 2013. De asemenea, astronauţi vor fi trimişi pe Lună între 2020 şi 2025.

Iniţial, ESA plănuise să fie o misiune comună cu SUA, dar legile americane interzic transmiterea de informaţii legate de tehnologia spaţială, ceea ce a determinat o competiţie între cele două. De ce această competiţie? Poate că renumitul om de ştiinţă Stephen Hawking avea dreptate: "Nu cred că specia umană va supravieţui în următorii 1.000 de ani dacă nu începem să călătorim în spaţiu. Sunt prea multe accidente care se pot întâmpla pe o singură planetă şi care pot duce la extincţie".

Reflexiones y sospechas en la transferencia de abundancia económica

Recién muchos han dicho que las economías de algunos países de Latinoamérica están robustas ahora, claro que parecen más fuertes que la de los EE.UU. Las cifras señalan que existe una depresión económica en el país norteamericano, mientras cada vez aumentan las del Sur.

Pese a felicitarlos por las buenas noticias en Latinoamérica, ¿por qué cuestionar o dudar algunas? En vez de analizar la situación, ¿por qué criticarla? ¿Acaso nadie pudiera superar las nubes de sospecha?

Suelen difundir algunas estadísticas reveladoras que indican una transferencia de dinero que apoyaría el crecimiento económico de tal manera beneficiándoles a los países sureños. Se trata de los miles hasta millones de giros que envía la gente de los EE.UU., España y otros países. De hecho, los inmigrantes que se hayan ido de los países de Latinoamérica abonan tanto dinero a sus familias aun permanecidas en el Sur.

Un ejemplo de las cifras: Casi un millón de peruanos vive en los EE.UU., y en el último año de 2007 enviaron alrededor de 1.600 millones de dólares en giros u otras transferencias a sus familiares que permanecen todavía en el Perú. Claro que este nivel de transferir dinero ha afectado la economía del Perú de manera positiva. Ahora, apuntan los políticos de los EE.UU. que ya van disminuyendo las transferencias en 2008 debido al aprieto en dicho país.

Tal como celebramos las buenas, quizás vayamos a compartir la pena de las malas entre los países del Norte y el Sur. Más adelante veremos las cifras de este año, y hemos de analizarlas y reflexionar acerca del tema de nuevo.

Triste que la situación en un país supuestamente Europeo sea idéntica a la de Perú. Ojo, no con desprecio a Perú, sino porqué si los llamamos a ellos "economías en crecimiento" y "tercer mundo" es porque debemos estar "crecidos" y ser "primeros", no?.

Se ha hecho famoso por ser el primer hombre embarazado de la historia, aunque en realidad, Thomas Beatie es un transexual que decidió tener un bebé por la infertilidad de la mujer con la que convive.

Este jueves ha presentado a su hija en sociedad a través de una foto en la revista People. Susan Juliette, de tres semanas posa tranquila en su casa de Oregón, en Estados Unidos.

El padre o madre, que la trajo al mundo dice que el único problema es que no puede darle el pecho porque años atrás se operó las mamas en su proceso de conversión en hombre.

Beatie considera a la niña un milagro y dice que ahora forman la familia que siempre habían soñado.

I only have two days to spend in Lima before catching a flight to get some much needed friendship time with the Ducce, Guyve Sardari Davalou Qadjar, in Venezuela. Looking forward to it. In the meantime, what can I do ? Strolling through the streets I have discovered in the brilliant short story of Mario Vargas Llosa, Los Cachorros, set in Lima.

A rather superficial walk teaches me that, besides being a city where books are terribly expensive, the Limenos are Natural Born Latin Lovers ("NBLL"). And what do NBLL do ? They hug and kiss in public parks. Les amoureux des bancs publics..

Or rest one against another, breathing love...

In the Miraflores area, where I stay (once again, after La Paz and Cusco, at Loki hostel), they even have a statue dedicated to lovers. How cute (and naive).

Alas, I am alone and have no lover here. Therefore, I decide to do what most tourists do in Lima : paragliding. I never have and tell myself it will be a valuable experience, even if the thrill cannot match bungee or skydiving.

This is the Rosas something, a fancy restaurant on the water. I have not been there but am told the view is amazing. Rather, based on laudative internet reviews, I am having lunch at Astrid y Gaston, allegedly the best restaurant in town (and the whole country). And what a lunch ! Although I have no pictures to show, the experience is still vivid in my mind. So far, the best meal I have had in my trip - that completely changed my - until then rather negative - perspective on Peruvian food. Reading that the chef, Gaston Acurio, owns another Astrid y Gaston in Santiago, where I will be three weeks from now, I salivate.
