Some interesting sounds coming out on Boys Noize Records; quality releases already from, D.I.M, Puzique and now Shadow Dancer. But it's Strip Steve i'm interested in today, the Frenchman is hard to define but its House i guess... Last years Skip School EP was a refreshing difference to most of the tunes coming at the time. Lately he's knocked out a remix for Shadow Dancer and their track 'Cowbois' and gives it an almost Disco feel.... I featured it on my Audio Response mix a few weeks back. (Get it here.)

And while i'm on about Boys Noize Records, this track was one of my favorites from last year....

I've had an interest in Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve since hearing their work earlier this year. There's a subtle charm to their work in an era packed to the brim with electro distortions. They received a lot of attention after their Peter, Bjorn & John remix became so accessible. My pops really liked it. But that's not what I'm posting. I want to post this Midlake remix I've been sitting on for a while, but I forgot about it a long while back.. The song is so nice- check out the original and contrast the two. Both are excellent songs.

Midlake - Roscoe (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve Remix)

Midlake - Roscoe

Findlay Brown - Losing The Will To Survive (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve Remix)

"Dream" has been played a hundred times in my car driving through the city this week. For me, The Neon Plastix borrow all of the lost styles of the nineties ska & punk movements on the west coast, throws in some synths and some wicked drum rolls and they do it so well. And then they go and make these observations that are so tangible, so identifiable; "We are all freaks, craving computer beats. Dancing in clubs, taking it out on the streets! The city's not safe!!! Built like a car! All I can think about's how I look and how well I talk right now!!!" So tight!!!

Neon Plastix - Dream

Neon Plastix - On Fire

Moving on. Here's my favorite Charlie Fanclub (from Derby, of course!) track, though I don't really have that many of them. "Jet" is sick. Sick sick sick.. The Justice remix, on the other hand, is all over the map. I'm not quite sure how much I like it, sitting here listening to it on my headphones. But I'm sure it makes a lot more sense on the dance floor. Maybe I'm just tired of hearing that song remixed so much. How much can a guy take? Also, it's not like it's a new remix. Everybody was guilty of killing that track. R.I.P.

Charlie Fanclub - Jet

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Charlie Fanclub Remix)

And with new Mr. Oizo & SebastiAn & Tellier tracks out there, what else do you need? Oizo never stops surprising me. The second you think you have this guy pegged he switches up and drops something like this on you. It's all off of a soundtrack to the movie "Steak"- which I will have to see. Why was Chicago one of the only places in the U.S. where Oizo missed his show? WTF?

SebastiAn, Oizo & Tellier - Plug It

SebastiAn, Oizo & Tellier - Ringardos

And here's some Hot Chip tracks I dug up a little while ago! I love those guys. "Down With Prince" is off of the Kitsune Fur compiliation. Pretty tight track, though I wouldn't hold it up to anything off of The Warning. That album is unbelievable.

Hot Chip - My Piano

Hot Chip - Down With Prince

More Bloody Beetroots to get your hands on, but they're not who I'm focusing on. This time I'm talking about Etienne De Crecy. This song made its way around almost a week ago, and though I'm not as big of a fan of the work as I am most Bloody Beetroots remixes, it leaves a nice segue for me to drop some Crecy tracks. The Chromeo remix is so solid, so progressive & soft for an electro banger. The piano cuts are right on. It works really well.

Etienne De Crecy (pic: luis carvalhal)

Etienne De Crecy - Funk (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

Chromeo - Tenderoni (Etienne De Crecy Remix)

And I'll finish this up with a sweet little remix of PUZIQUe's . Their handiwork shines in this, reminiscent of LA Riots vocal editing in the Photek song that I posted a little while ago. Compare the two. I wish that the end of the song had a bigger buildup & payoff. But overall, I think it's a nice track.

Villenueve - Oh No (Puzique Mix)
