World star Rain kicked off his singing career in Korea after a 2-year hiatus by appearing late Thursday for the filming of his comeback special. After he released his fourth album in 2006, he has concentrated on his acting career, appearing in the Hollywood blockbuster “Speed Racer” and starring in “Ninja Assassin” slated for release in 2009. But even while shaping his acting career, Rain has steadily worked on his fifth album, the first product since his departure from his mentor and producer Park Jin-young.

Rain’s fifth album “Rainism” showcases a wide range of his abilities. During the filming of his comeback special at the MBC Open Hall in Ilsan on the outskirts of Seoul, 1,000 of his fans gathered to see how far Korea’s hottest entertainer has evolved over the years. He has written songs and closely participated in all the phases of its production. In addition to his signature power dance, he showed that he had a comic touch in “Fresh Woman” in which he was dressed up in workout clothes and a fuzzy wig. The audience went wild at his funny expressions and comments.

Actress Kim Sun-ah of “My Name is Kim Samsoon” fame made a surprise visit to the stage during Rain’s performance of “Bad Man.” Dressed in a skimpy dress, Kim danced a sultry number with Rain to the envy of his fans. Rain’s special will be aired in two parts – a documentary and a comeback concert. His much anticipated fifth album will go on sale on October 15th.

I know this is backtracking, but I wanted to post some pictures of the KU/Louisiana Tech game back in early September. It was rainy and cold, but we still had fun thanks to Rob's awesome seats (50 yard line, 7 rows up).

[caption id="attachment_62" align="aligncenter" width="128" caption="Memorial Stadium"][/caption]

Rain Rain, go away! But it didnt stop us from having fun. Rob (Heidi's boyfriend), Heidi, Jasmine, and me, of course, had a great time... Jasmine had a "Jumbo hotdog" and we had to stir our drinks at halftime with a wire hanger (we're resourceful!). After halftime Heidi and Jasmine HAD to have a funnel cake so we waited in a HUGE line, but that didnt damper their spirits. They were both happy campers.

All in all, a wet, but fun day!

Last week I wrote a post about my 6 year old diva daughter. Well, this week, the “divaness

Last week I wrote a post about my 6 year old diva daughter. Well, this week, the "divaness" has transferred over to my 12 year old son. I am sure a lot of what is going on with him is typical, pre-teen boy behavior and the laziness that come along with all of that. That does not make living with him any more pleasant. Maybe some of it is my fault. I try to do what I can to make things easier for him, right up until he starts to take advantage of the situation. I have really been doing a lot for him lately b/c of his broken hand. (He goes to the dr next Wednesday, let's hope that the cast can come off and he can be re-instated to his position as my <del datetime="00">servant</del>..ahem...I mean to do his chores.) So, in my helping him out over the past few weeks with chores, homework, getting his snacks & food that he is normally able to get, he has become increasingly comfortable with ordering me around and depending on me for everything. He is becoming more lazy, if that is even possible.

He wants us to write his math problems out for him, which in and of itself is not that big of a deal, (his teacher is only requiring him to do about a fourth of the problems) until he wants you to do all the problem solving for him! Then he gets mad and says that we are being mean and won't help him with his homework even though he has a broken hand. He is playing us like cheap fiddles! I keep reminding him that his brain isn't broken, just his right hand. I have also pointed out to him that he has a perfectly good left hand that he has repeatedly bragged about being able to use better than his right! Sigh. Calgon, take me away!

Wednesday morning it was raining outside and it was kind of chilly out too. I was in the middle of making breakfast for Hannah and packing her lunch. Jon is walking out the door and walks right back in and tells me (not asks) that I have to drive him to school. I asked him why. He said because it was raining. I told him that I couldn't leave, I was busy making breakfast/lunch and waiting for Emma to be dropped off. Plus, I couldn't leave his sister alone and she was no where near ready to even attempt to go anywhere. He said, again, that I had to take him. He went on to say that he couldn't get his cast wet. Okay, put your sweatshirt on, pull up your hood, and put your hand in the front pocket (you know the ones like kangaroo pockets). He says he can't. WHAT? I told him that they make these things called "Umbrellas" for people to use to keep the rain off of themselves when it is wet outside. I told him to go get his umbrella or get mine out of my car. He refused. Then he proceeded to tell me that it is going to be all my fault when his cast gets ruined from the rain. Sigh. By this time I am counting to 10 (make that 1000). He finally decided to put on his sweatshirt (YAY...his brain does work!) and pull it over his cast and put his hand in the front pocket.

When he came home later on that day his cast was just fine. Guess good ole Mom will get off without being blamed for ruining anything for Jon on that day. :)

At the beginning of September, Lucy and I spent a long weekend at our local Center Parcs (Longleat).

At the beginning of September, Lucy and I spent a long weekend at our local Center Parcs (Longleat). It's like living in some sort of cycling utopia! A forest environment, a mere handful of vehicles on the road, masses of bikes, loads of bicycle parking, special bike trails and paths.

If you read the popular press these days, you will learn that cyclists are a menace in pedestrianised areas, that they don't use their bells, that they cycle too close to people, that they cycle too fast, that they appear out of nowhere. If you unquestioningly take the opinion pages of the papers as gospel truth, you may well believe that it's a wonder that there aren't horrific casualties every single day that pedestrians and cyclists go near each other, I guess it's a miracle that there are only a handful of cyclist on pedestrian deaths/serious injuries every year. We must have been VERY LUCKY to get away with it!

What's curious about Center Parcs is that cyclists and pedestrians mix completely and thoroughly, yet I heard not one bad word exchanged betwixt the two camps. Even though cyclists were weaving through pedestrians strung out over the routes. Even though there were queues to get through gates. Even though at various times cyclists and pedestrians would have to give way to one another in an environment that was not heavily regulated. The difference is in the expectation, you come to Center Parcs knowing full well that there will be shared-use paths with bikes. There are few clear definitions like 'pavement' and 'road', so somehow cyclists are prepared to meet with pedestrians and vise-versa.

It rained a lot on the first day, which I actually found quite pleasant in the forest. I was reminded of my favourite sequence in the film My Neighbor Totoro, where the Totoro is delighted by the sound of the rain dripping from the trees onto his borrowed umbrella. To live amongst trees is a special thing indeed.

Some pics:

[gallery]

Lucy took her Diamondback MTB and I took my Brompton, but when it comes to being on the water, you need a specialist machine:

It was a surprisingly smooth ride - moving downwind anyway.

this will be the last time i mention rain in a negative way. but here it is, it rains 8,000 millimet

this will be the last time i mention rain in a negative way. but here it is, it rains 8,000 millimeters a year on a large chunk of the west coast. that is 800 centimeters. that is 8 meters. and 8 meters is like 26.4 feet. no really, it rains almost 30 feet a year on some parts of this rock. HAH!

so i finally took a few nights off from free beer and booze at the hostel's bar and boarded the 10:30 ferry for rangitoto island. of course this 2as two days after i said i was going to leave in my last post... it rained non-stop monday and tuesday night so i had to hold tight a few more days. the island was formed by volcanic eruption over a 200 year period about 600 years ago. that is pretty crazy considering how many plants there are hanging out on the island. anyways, aside from a nice hike and scenic ferry ride to the island, all there was to see was a giant hole in the ground with a nice view of auckland.

of course i didn't spend $25 on a boat ride to look at a dumb city from a distance, i wanted to put a tent up and do what i do. oh man, stupid tents. i have only used this tent once in the past, in the relatively dry and comfortable california sierras. well, it started raining at about midnight, no big deal, my tent can handle it. of course my little 1 pound tent was supposed to have it's seams sealed and apparently the nylon stretches when it gets wet and i am supposed to tighten it up... in the rain? whatever. so for about 6 hours, there was a fine mist coming through the needle holes of my tent, not the end of the world, but i didn't get much sleep that night. of course when i woke up it was still raining, and i had to put my now wet sleeping bag and tent away to grow who knows what inside my backpack. yay!

of course there was a lot of good stuff also! i saw my first sheep, and stepped in a cow pie! the track i hiked on went right through cow pastures and they would follow me around and stare at me like i just ate their uncle or something. super weird. the scenery was awesome, when it wasn't raining, and even when it was it didn't dissapoint. so to make a long story short, i have decided that tent camping in new zealand sucks. i don't have enough room in my backpack for the tent, a sleeping pad, and any more than 4 or 5 days of food. plus, it is too much of a pain to set up and take down a tent when it is raining, especially when you factor in the follow -up try and hang a tent in your hostel to dry it fiasco. woot! "hey sorry new roommate, do you mind if i hang this mildewy piece of canvas up over half the room? sweet! dad, i mailed you a tent, love, bubba.

so with the removal of my tent and sleeping pad i have freed up a considerable amount of food space in my backpack, increasing the amount of days i can travel on a trail, but limiting me to trails with huts and trail heads within walking distance or accessible by public transport. big deal, except i now have nowhere to go nearby and have been doing nothing but research the last two days(except for free pizza and beer the last two nights 8-x).

a few of my opinions on things have obviously changed already. stuff is actually not that expensive, sales tax is already included in prices, kilos to pounds works weird in our favor, you don't have to tip, and the american dollar is pretty strong to the failing NZ dollar; no matter how crappy it might be in a big city, free pizza and beer is always a good investment; the majority of the people here are very nice and friendly, everyone wants to talk and hang out,.,.,i met a super nice girl named marie from denmark, a couple canadiens and even an american from OHIO woah!! last night i met another korean, dr. john, who shared his bottle of new zealand riesling with me and gave me the inside scoop on the local restaurant that sells horse steaks, thank you doctor. my previous roommate was micolai from holland, he simultaneously wowed me with his ability to go on vacation for 6 months while married, explain to me why the bible was flawed, and then theorize on extra dimensions within out universe. mind blown! oh yeah, and ramen taste awesome with instant tomato soup mixed in, and i made victory burritos to celebrate my first night camping. things are always going well when you can eat burritos.

sorry to ramble wooooooooooo

Well apparently so. For Rain’s showcase concert for 1000 privileged Clouds, “Me. Rain. Dance,” (which indicates his English skill level), Chicken breasts brought out actress Kim Sun-a as his dancing partner.

Although, Rain’s comeback showcase will air on MBC on October 17th, we don’t think it can top the dynamic duo of Usher and Beyonce’s sizzling hot dance for the song, “Bad Girl.

It's that kind of day.

It's raining again. Hard rain for two hours, drizzle for half an hour then dry for ten minutes before the cycle begins again. It's that kind of day.

I'm feeling sore, worn out and scunnered for no apparent reason. It's that kind of day.

I may drink lots of coffee and sit in jammies until it's too late to bother changing out of them. It's that kind of day.

The cat peeked out the door and decided to spend the day asleep on the bed instead. It's that kind of day.

I may put on the heating for cosyness, even though it's not really cold enough. I may sit in the big comfy chair and read a detective novel until my legs go to sleep. Then I may join them. It's that kind of day.

I might sort out the contents of that big case, the one I've been meaning to sort for the past two months - or I might not. It's that kind of day.

I may do all sorts of nothing all day in all kinds of ways - and be surprised when it's evening and I've done nothing. It's that kind of day.

So, I have been kicking myself for a couple of days because I have wanted to write a blog, but I hav

So, I have been kicking myself for a couple of days because I have wanted to write a blog, but I haven't been able to land on a topic. I'll think first that I want to write about one of my all time favorite comfort spots. Then I think, maybe I should write about one of my favorite local stores. Then...well I continue on in this vein until I end up doing something else and another day passes without a blog.

Tonight this has changed. I was just sitting outside with my dogs listening to nature, thinking about life, thinking about my Mom, and trying to figure out where I want to go with this blog, my life, and other weighty matters. I take a brief pause to check the yard for intruders because my little girl dog is acting nuerotic about something (turns out to be the owls). Then I get back to trying to solve all the world's problems. Okay, not really. So restated, a diversion from all the world's problems. At this point the owls start talking. My neighborhood has about five mated owl pairs and their current group of babies. My sister has the oldest couple living in her yard, I have generation number two in mine, and the next three are in three of my close neighbor's yards. The group is made up of Baird Owls, a type of native owl that when fully grown can stand at about 3-3 1/2 feet tall and will happily eat any animal including small pets up to 20 pounds. Don't let this scare you. There are a lot of uneaten pets around due to our neighborhoods variety of wild animals available for them to feed on.

I love a few things about these birds starting with the fact that they do keep my yard pretty pest free, have scared the beejesus out of my husband and son (stories for another day), and they are very entertaining. I think I read once that they can make up to 150 different sounds. I've probably heard most of them.

Now that the owls have been introduced, let me tell you what they said. My male and his grandson seemed to stick close to the ha-ha-haa-whooo, while the male generation in between did a few variances of his scary horror movie, about to jump out at you, evil villain chuckle. I made a few owl like noises of my own just to keep up the conversation, and all three seemed to find this as amusing as they usually do. After about ten minutes entertaining the local wildlife, but strangely not my dogs who gave me their dog version of the teen look that easily translates in every language to "Oh God, must she always embarass me like this!!" I came inside and started writing this blog.

I'm feeling that at this point I need to tranlsate what all the "Whoo-ing meant. The owls basically said "Who cares what you write about today, just as long as you write it." Pretty deep coming from an animal who gets happy excited about rats, huh?

So without further ado I give you a brief story about one of my favorite beaches. The beach in question is located out in Fernandina, and is called Main Beach. This particular part of the coast is easily found. From Jacksonville you take 9A across the Dames Point bridge, hang a left on the first exit after the bridge, Hecksher Drive. Stay on Hecksher Drive until you come to the blinking light at A1A (there should be a Chevron on your right and the road ahead of you should look like it has turned into a private tree covered driveway). Stay on A1A until it turns into a parking lot just past the water slide and go-kart racing on your left and and an ice cream stand and a playground on your right. This is Main Beach. There is also picnic benches and bathrooms on the right as well.

My Mom and I used to go down to main beach all of the time to shark teeth hunt, and entertain the kids. We would swim sometimes, but only on safe days. The tide in this area is very rough, and can have lots of riptides and kamikazee waves. Kamikazees waves are the kind that spring up out of calm water and can tower over your head to sweep you down with them. I wouldn't recommend this beach for the beginning swimmer. Watch your flag warnings and swim with a partner if you do go out.

Back to safer recreation. Shark tooth hunting. The other day, my sister Kathy was telling me a story about how some of her coworkers didn't know you could find shark's teeth on the beach. I thought everyone knew this! You can not only find shark's teeth, but you can also find wild horse teeth. Fernandina and the southern beaches of Georgia like Cumberland Island, used to have herds of horses roaming the shores. The fossilized teeth of these long ago horses are mixed in with the fossilized sharks teeth, shells, and other ocean matter. My mother taught me to look for black. Pure and shiny black. It also helps to look for the pointed shape of the teeth for some people. If you're not sure what the teeth look like, you can check online at http://geology.about.com or other great pages for great photos and other information.

My favorite memory of Main Beach goes back about ten years. The Northeast Florida area had just been hit with a terrible storm. The storm came in off the coast from the Northeast and just pounded us with wind and rain. So Saturday rolls around and my son Casy is in Jacksonville with his Dad, and my Mom and I are hanging out at her house and feeling pretty restless after so many days of weather. It is early yet, around 7 or 8, the sky is still overcast and the air is all misty. The kind of mist that isn't quite a rain, but not really a mist either. Mom gets up and heads into her room, and says as she's walking out of the kitchen "Get your shoes on, we're going out." We leave the house and she heads for the beach. Now you just read what the weather was like that morning. Nasty, huh? So here goes Mom and Sherry off to the beach, neither of us thinking at any point that this isn't a good idea. Well let me tell you the beach was about ten times worse that it was at her house, and by the time we get down there in our tee shirts, shorts, and flip flops we're about half soaked and laughing like children. We kick off our shoes and set off down that storm ravaged beach looking for shark's teeth. We start shouting out things like "First one!" and "Biggest!". Thank goodness no one else was there, they would have thought we we're loony! After awhile a man approaches, the first soul we've seen all morning, and says "You ladies want to see what I've got?" and precedes to pull his hands out of his pant pockets with two of the largest shark's teeth I have ever seen covering the palms and just about fingers of each hand! Then he tells us how his friend had found one the day before that was twice the size of his! Seriously! We both were a little jealous, but we were having so much fun it didn't bother us long. Around lunch we come off the beach with pockets bulging, soaked through, teeth chattering, and decide to head for Walmart. Once there we get matching sweatshirts off the sale rack and some bags for our teeth to go in, and then you guessed it - we headed back to the beach! We did stop at a local restaurant for a salad and sandwiches. Which we ate in the car after Mom finished yelling at the manager for them putting cayenne pepper all over the salad instead of paprika (I'm allergic). We both laughed and ate that free salad and our sandwiches while looking out the window at the water crashing onto the sand. Then we went right back out there and filled our pockets again. Walking, laughing, talking, getting soaked. Boy were we a pair! Mom kept going "Oh my hair!" every ten minutes. I kept popping her curls and running off laughing. That was one hell of a day I tell ya. We were both so windburned when we woke up Sunday you would have thought we'd been laying in the sun without sunscreen for a couple of days! Wow, just wow.

I wouldn't trade that day for a million dollars. We had so much fun just being together on that beach. I think about that day all of the time, and I miss my Mom. I miss the way she just loved doing things with her girls. I miss her laughter, and her smile. The way she would slide up beside you and squeeze your waist. Just holding you close for a bit, and telling you she loved you. She must have done that a dozen times on our Saturday at Main Beach. And a dozen more times while holding herself up because she was laughing so hard she cried. She was so filled with joy being out there in the fresh air, looking for shark's teeth, and spending time with one of her girls.

That, my reader, is what I want you to take with you the next time you go to the beach. Simple, unadulterated JOY! Quit worrying about life, work, money, the presidential election. Just have fun. The rest will still be there waiting when you leave. So, let it go for a bit and experience the joy of being with whoever you're with - even if it is only yourself, and make some favorite memories of your own.

J~O~Y and sunscreen to you all!

So, it rained a bit yesterday (Thursday). Some lightning and thunder here and there, so I decided to get away from the computer and take some pictures of what the weather was like outside. They've GIMPed to fix some exposure problems (too dark!) and remove some of the noise. These were all taken from the back entrance, leading to the patio. Behind the wall is the neighboring house and, beyond that, some new apartment buildings that have yet to be completed.

Below is the paved ground on the patio. Before the tiles were put, it required some balancing effort to walk on it, because the ground was uneven. Now, there a lots of potted plants, an avocado tree stump that serves as support for some orchids, and other things just not worth mentioning.

And the last one. Rainfall against the neighboring house. I've never actually met anyone who lives there. All I know is that they celebrate a lot (and are quite noisy when they do), they have a pool and lots of plants and trees surround the place. It's quite the nice house, though some of the privacy (and mysticism?) has been lost because of those new apartment buildings. They had to give up some of their land to make room for those. Happens a lot in this neighborhood. Lots of efforts have been made to reduce the impact of urban growth and preserve the old houses as they are, but these things happen.

Must be nice to sit down, lean on the window and stare outside while it rains. For now, I'll have to settle with sitting on the balcony and staring and the parking lot. Last time I did that (it was also raining), I managed to read quite a bit, as well as take some nice pictures of raindrops as they hit the ground. I'll probably post them later.

For now, I've got work to do. Some T-shirt design.

Rain was done his comeback reporting ceremoy before his fans from all the area of Asia.

Rain's comeback show, "I, Rain, Dance" was by the advance recording, it was time to see that he has been changed into the world star and his own after leaving JYP.
He fully showed his two-year remarkable grown appearance through his more comfortable look and best performance.

This day, Rain's comeback special "I, Rain, Dance" went like workclock smoothly, he has been approven himself the world star that there were the total 1,000 including his 300 domestic fans and 250 Japan fans.

"I, Rain, Dance" begun in the acclamations by fans was started with his 5th album title song "Rainism".
The best part in it was the fluorescent stick dance which was appeared at the end of it.
This stage, may mean just the highlight of "Rainism", is the part that the dance ability of Rain and his dancers was emphasized, and their perfect harmony arrested many eyes.

The second stage was "Love Story" which has a feeling in contradiction to Rainism.
"Love Story" is the song in the news, since Rain and Ha Ji-Won have the joint.
Rain who started to use with the hand mike which was changed from the standing mike in the middle of singing, had a surprising event that he was ascending up to the 3th floor height on singing of the end part.

The third song was "It's Raining" which made Rain be recognized as a big star.
He didn't forget to open his abdominal muscle, and got a big hand from audience.
In chorus part, Cupping his hand behind his ear toward the audience, he emphasized to be keyed to the situation.

"Only You" which is comparative smooth song was selected as the fourth song.
"Only You" is the song, which is that somebody declares love for his sweetheart.
He kneed and made pals meet each other as if his prayer, that arrested many eyes.

The stage gotten the most eyes from the audience was "Bad Guy" with Kim Seon-A. Rain who appeared with Kim Seon-A showed the perfect matching and high-class Tango ability.

The last stage of Rain's comeback in this day was "Fresh Woman" which upset the expectation as yet.
Rain in his trainingclothes and permed wag of the Apollo style created an atmosphere through his shaking butt and seeming to bother with dancers.

Meanwhile, Rain has zoomed in on the hollywood stage after 2006's 4th album acting. He came back with "Rainism" which is his 5th Asia special album in two years, including the comeback on October.
Rain's 5th Rainism is the first produced album by his own after leaving JYP, he participated in not only lyrics making but also even composition.
He is known that he has covered all the bases through receiving the advise of a world-famed dancer director AJ.

Rain's comeback show "I, Rain, Dance" is to be broadcasted on the 17th at 10:50pm.

I post too much about SJ and DBSK so here's some stuff not in anyway related to either of those peoples

Here is an article I found really interesting. It's not really saying anything substantial but the point it makes about the change in Chinese entertainment is interesting. I'm not into Hong Kong stuff cause I don't undertand Cantonese, (I do find Ah Sa really cute though^^) but I do agree that Taiwan puts out some really great stuff. The comparison can even be extended beyond just chinese pop to the rest of Asia as well. Because the Hallyu wave seems so strong from a fandom perspective, people tend to forget that artists like Jay Chou and Wang Leehom are not only more popular in Asia, but also appeal to a more diverse demographic then their Korean counterparts. Compared with Kpop or Jpop, Cpop is extremely underappreciated outside of Asia beacause the talent in Cpop lies away from idol groups like Fahrenheit and more with solo artists like JJ lin. Even idol groups like F4 have achieved success in Japan in such a way that no Korean group has yet to. Point is, Cpop rocks and deserves more love.

SHE on 康熙来了 I don't normally watch this show unless they have guests I like. Whoever said that Asia is more conservative then the West has obviously never watched a show Xiao S hosts. Seriously, I cannot believe some of the questions she asks, and for whatever reason, her guests always just go with it. Here, SHE brings their dogs to play and they just chat about whatever. Xiao S is a truly great host who's not afraid to ask questions most of us wouldn't even dare to think about. If you like SHE, this is a great interview to watch. Selina is just adorable ♥.

Korean Meteor Garden Yes, Meteor Garden, HYD came afterwards so we'll go with the Taiwanese name. I don't really know or care about the cast but both the Japan and Taiwanese versions were iconic so I'm looking forward to this. Although the hate-turned-into-love storyline is way overdone, I'm a sucker for it and if done well, this is gonna be epic.

Rain released his new song. I have never truly listened to anything of his other then the collab he did with Leehom. In fact, aside from Full House, I've never really paid any attention to him. The song sounds nice though. I'm excited to see his comeback and to have a new potential fandom.

Presidential debate happened again yesterday. The fact that I put this after Rain pretty much shows you my priorities. *Fails as citizen* Anyway, I thought the townhall style format was kinda awkward but Brokaw was a great moderator. He was like a babysitter trying to keep the children talking within their time limit. Both candidates did that thing where they don't really answer the question unless it fits their agenda : /. As expected, nothing insightful was really said, and really, I don't think debates do anything except show who is more charismatic and eloquent. I think Obama won but really, it doesn't matter that much. I probably won't be voting for him, but watching McCain talk, I really get a sense of just how much he loves America, not in that neocon 'you're with us or you're against us' kinda way, but in a deep, 'willing to sacrifice anything, including his life' kinda way. Even if he did become president, I don't believe it will be anything like the last eight years.

The image I posted is by Li Wei, a Chinese artist doing some really interesting stuff. I love the way he mixes performance and visual art to highlight human beings and their relationship with space. Please check out his website; his work really captured my attention and it's definitely worth a look ;___;.

Yes! Whole post and no DBSJ content. Suck on that!

Last year, I discovered Holga. She's an inexpensive, clunky camera made almost entirely of plastic. It's the not-so-great design that makes it great. Each camera has light leaks and slight distortions that make each photo a little different. Holga photos takes with medium format 120 film that leave cool steaks and textures and dark spots or edges

While I love Holga, developing gets a little expensive. I usually send the rolls of film (you choose 12 or 16 photos a roll) to Dwayne's Photo. He's the cheapest. Just be careful when you buy film. If you want prints, make sure you don't buy slide film. That's where it gets super expensive. In Stockton, I think the only place to get 120 film developed at is Wolf Photo, by Chucky Cheese on Pacific.

Here are some photos from my first roll of film.

Aviso 8 / 10 pm CTM

"The rain is falling softly
And so does in my mind
Silver mists come closing in
Engulf my spirit blind"

No photography this morning. Let's try painting with words, let's see if I can describe this morning in such a way that when you close your eyes, you can see it like I can as it is refracted in your own experience and memory of rain. These words are like drops of water strewn across a window pane, mapping out personal constellations.

I woke up this morning with my eyes heavy from the night's dreaming, thick heady imaginings that involved the whatifs and couldhaves. I realize that every night, I've been slowly putting each sigh, each pained smile, each shrug into its own box, locking it away somewhere in the deep recesses of a heart that's not used to being silent. These boxes are painted in dark colors, are heavy things of regret that cannot be held in the hand too long before becoming smoke that escapes a vessel.

The sound of the rain outside my yellow-turned-amber curtains drowned me, and I let it, and I dreamt I was sleeping in room that slowly filled itself with the ocean. The water swirled around my feet, creating heavy patterns on the bed, eased my body into a womb of rain. I felt my skin breathe open and sigh, swallowing the water until my body turned translucent, until I lost shape, until I became smoke that escapes a vessel.

I woke up when the sound of my own heartbeat thundered, echoing the sky outside that bore no lightning.

I've never been a trendy person. The trendiest I've ever gotten was when I decided to listen to Kpop and sold my soul to the devil. Aside from that, I try to believe I'm an individual in a sea of Abercrombie/Hollister wearing, G-Unit head-bopping teenagers.

Yeah, right.

I can tell you guys that there is this one trend I'm sure as hell not stupid enough to follow. I'm sure if you're like me and have nothing better to do than follow the meaningless market known as the Korean Entertainment Industry, then you must be aware of the string of suicides that have occurred within these past few months. Although I'm still pretty new to the biz, I guess it's safe to assume that whoever the star may be, the suicide part is still enough information to generate enough buzz to make it seem like a big deal.

First we got Ahn Jae Hwan, who was found dead in his car just a month and a day ago (September 8). Then, just 7 days ago, actress Choi Jin Shil was found dead in her home. Then, the following day (October 3), trans-gender celeb Jang Jae Won had also committed suicide. And finally, 2 days ago gay actor and model, Kim Ji Hoo, followed suite.

This is one sick trend, folks. I don't even need to tell you that for you to realize it. We all know that Korea's got some of the highest suicide rates in the world among its celebrities and its everyday citizens, but this is just getting freaky. Within a month's time, we've got 4 well established names in the industry dead as a result of suicide. I shudder to think "who's next?" but with this slew of names going down the drain, you can't help but wonder.

Doesn't it frighten you that anyone's head could be up next on that chopping board? I mean, I doubt this but, you know something? Kpop stars go through a lot of stress and although we are told not to take much criticism to heart or too personally, sometimes we just can't help it. Kpop stars, although gods and goddesses in the eyes of the average netizen, are still human, too. They are just as likely as the next person to do something as simple as putting a gun next to their head and pulling that trigger (or come up with some other means). I know we can't picture people as successful as anyone in Big Bang, DBSK, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, Brown Eyed Girls, Kara, Shinee etc. doing such a thing, but no one ever really knows.

Heck, I doubt Rain's poor English skills can get him down enough to do such a thing.

Nevertheless, my condolences to the families and friends of these poor souls.

EDIT: My number count beat out yesterday's viewer count again O__O Seriously, ladies and gents, you're not doing anything to help my ego XD But once again, I thank you ^__^
