In the back of my mind I think I had subtle visual flashes of prairie images, yellow fields, birds and flowers and all that stuff. Maybe I'm just a little nostalgic and already miss spring? I don't know what it was that made me put this outfit together really, but Maitreya's new boots HAD to be featured in it, no matter what. Talk about love at first sight eh? I'm of course, like all of us, speechless and don't think there's words to describe them. Will wear them until they 'fall apart', which, fortunately does not happen in sl. :D

Everything is so Black and White

I tend to see the word in black and white and tend to rely on my logical deduction a little too heavily. It's not all bad though! Like, I believe that for a person to not notice flowers while walking past them or a variety of colors of leaves on the ground is missing out. Flat out. Or if a person doesn't look for patterns in the clouds at least once a week or whenever they get to see them if in Southern California.... their life is void of imagination. One more: No women looks good in spandex. I am not discriminating against the heavier women because I probably have more cellulite then most women out there.... but all women just shouldn't wear it! Nothing good comes from wearing it!

Vivian Girls

The debut album from Brooklyn based band Vivian Girls is short, but sweet, ten tracks in just over 21 minutes. Their sound borrows from 60's girl groups, shoegaze, punk, bands like the Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Social Distortion, and with some seriously good musicianship and uncommonly confident vision for a new band, they manage to turn their obvious influences into music that's highly addictive and unpretentious fun. There's almost nothing else to say, except I think that you'll know from the first few moments of the album what you're in for, and whether or not you'll want to stick around for the rest. For my part, this is right down my alley, as it offers up the uncomplicated pleasures of pop and rock and roll, well played. Standout cuts: "All The Time," "Wild Eyes," "Where Do You Run To" and "Damaged."

... Pour aller voir mon amie Catherine "balancer" sur scène en quartet! Vraiment, ses performances live sont excellentes et toujours un grand plaisir - de jolies mélodies, des textes personnels avec ce qu'il faut de poésie et d'humour subtil, et des classiques de jazz ou de chanson française, en compagnie de très bons musiciens.

Bref, un concert et after géniaux, vraiment dans la bonne humeur et en excellente compagnie!

Pour en savoir davantage sur elle, et surtout trouver un prochain concert - car même si je ne suis pas fan de ses chansons studio, j'admire son énergie, sa présence et son talent sur scène et c'est bien là qu'il faut la découvrir - RDV sur son myspace.

(J'en oublierais la tenue!)

Pigletchops had a fantastic time at the Jalouse nightclub opening in London this week. We were mingling with the likes of Paris Hilton, Mica Paris (who was having a great time on the dancefloor) and Ronan Keating. Also spotted were Bryan Ferry and sons and the stunning Skin. We were happy to supply Jalouse with items from our range for the celebritiy goody bags - lets watch and see who wears theirs first (apparently Paris was rather taken with her red roses bikini)!

Hey Y'all!

If you're reading this, more than likely you're familiar with my "VintageSue Fanaticism". She's one of the most creative, vibrant souls that I've ever met. She can take a piece of garbage (I'm talkin' trash picked right from the curb) and turn it into something so amazing, so wonderful (yes, so yummy!) that you would be proud to display it in your home.

I call it her "magic". I don't know how she does it ... but it continues to amaze me and thrill me each time I enter her booth of lovelies. It's like a spell that washes over me. She calls it "craziness", but whatever you call it, it is something very special.

Talent and creativity aside, what makes this lady even more special is her sweet, generous spirit. She has a "Pay it Forward" philosophy and I'm willing to bet that it has served her well.

Here then, are pictures of just some of the goodies that Sue has blessed me with ... both given to me and some I bought from her. In my opinion, they are ALL gifts. So here's to you, Sue!

I stumbled across the Fred Flare website a few weeks ago, and I'm still obsessed. I can't believe I never visited before. It has the best gifts and accessories, and way more retro toys than Urban Outfitters, at way more affordable prices. Right now I'm such a fan of these Laroche sunglasses, and they're only $11! I'd buy them now, but the shipping and handling is probably about that much, so I'm waiting until I can buy some Christmas gifts and lump the extra costs together. Play around and see what you find: I promise you you'll be bookmarking every other page.

Here are 3 postcards I made recently. They're nothing fancy, but they tickle me!

I start my postcards by cutting a rectangle out of a box - a box of pasta, cereal, etc. These are then just painted and decorated.

I WISH I had designed the images, but no - these are from a really awesome set of retro-styled Halloween cut-outs that I love so much I can hardly stand it.

So, these were very simple to make and fun, too. There you have it!

*These are the first of my October batch of cards for the postcard group I just joined. We each make postcards and send them to the other members every month. :)

The Historical Boutique

I have a new shop from Grace a la Mode, "The Historical Boutique Collection". I make vintage and historical clothing for custom fit, or pre-sewn.

They range from: Medieval Era, Renaissance Era, 18th Century and Colonial, Regency, Victorian Era, Edwardian Era, Turn of the Century, Titanic and Teens Era, 1910s-1950s.

If you are interested, please see the main shop site: The Boutique Collection for examples of my sewing work. I can also fix garments that need hemming, patching...etc. I try my best to use notions that were used in the time period, but I can not make the garments exactly historically accurate because of the way they were formed. I will make my garments to fit the natural body form rather than a tight corset.

Här är lite äkta 80-tal. Ska man skratta eller ska man gråta? Det är två fåtöljer och en soffa i samma stil som säljs. De är i trä och skinn. Möblemanget är designat av den amerikanske arkitekten Michael Graves för Swaya & Moroni i Milano. Michael Graves designade bl a en "kettle" för Alessi 1985. Det är deras största bästsäljare genom tiderna. Möblemanget tycker vi är hemskt nu, men det blir säkert inne igen. Och det är sannolikt mycket bra kvalitet. Utropspriset är 6000 kr (Auktionskompaniet, Stockholm 12 okt).

Here it is, my old-new bad boy, hommage to pre 2WW road racers. Couldn't wait for weekend so took the toosl in my hand last night, after Kiki's fell asleep. It's great to have a penthouse, altough I doubt that many people use it for mechanical workshop.

New stuff:

Scwalbe Blizzard 700x23 tires and tubes
Alu bottle holder
Alu handlebar
Ritchey grips
Shimano brake levers and cables
Red bell

More or less all budget parts.

Retro back-twisted, down pointed alu handlebar. And the bell to clear the road ahead.

Real bad boy side look.

I gave it a spin aroud the terrace ( they don't let me leave the house for a real spin ) and it rides very comfortable. I can realy smell the speed this machine can do in an old school fashion .

Some thing are still missing. Brakes need new pads. Pedals will be changed for a regular mountainbike type, maybe with SPD on one side for fast road trips. But for the rest , that's it.

Hope tomorrow we'll do the real spin!

I spotted this ad in a recent issue of Famitsu.

It's a back that has a little display on it, and it keeps track of how much money you put in it. You can then buy items and weapons for you little hero and then go on a heroic adventure. Pretty damn cool! Too bad the text in is Japanese. I think it's a great way to save up money. One of the weapons is a crossbow for 12000 yen, so you have to save up a lot on money in your bank to get that high powered weapon. Don't forget you can always click on the picture for a large view of it.

Remember Events im Trend

Zur Zeit tauchen - wahrscheinlich vor allem in Personenkreisen mittleren Alters - immer wieder irgend welche "Remember Events" auf. Remember dies und remember das - und alles mit einem recht guten Zulauf - beim ersten Mal. Das Remember Thema trifft die Menschen bei ihrem Bedürfnis, alte Freunde und Bekannte mal wieder zu sehen, sich mit ihnen zu unterhalten und etwas über ihr aktuelles Leben zu erfahren.

Für den Erfolg eines solchen Anlasses ist es kritisch, die Entwicklung der Zielgruppe in Betracht zu ziehen. Einfach den alten Anlass zu kopieren, z.B. den damaligen DJ im Original-Lokal auf die Kanzel holen, reicht vielleicht als Anziehungspunkt für einen ersten Event. Und bei der zweiten Durchführung bleiben die Leute dann zu Hause. Hier wird oft vergessen, dass die jeweiligen Menschen älter geworden sind. Sie haben Familie und wollen eher zusammen reden, als sich in wummernden Beats zu der Musik von damals räkeln. Das alles ist stellvertretend gemeint für ein Event-Konzept, das an der Zielgruppe vorbei geplant worden war.

Gleichzeitig können Remember Events auch nur in relativ grossen Abständen abgehalten werden. Man hat's 10 oder 15 Jahre ohne die anderen Menschen von damals ausgehalten, dann will man sie jetzt wohl nicht jeden Monat treffen. Ein mal im Jahr, höchstens zwei Mal dürfte dem Rahmen einigermassen gerecht werden. Sprengt man dieses Mass, dann verliert sich das Interesse und die Menschen bleiben aus. Bescheidenheit zahlt sich hier auf jeden Fall aus.

Friday, October 10th, Laibach Special

've been putting the finishing touches on my show, which will go on tomorrow evening, from 9PM to Midnight (Pacific).
It's my hope that those even fairly familiar with Laibach will find some surprises and new sounds and that those unfamiliar will become illuminated.

I was fortunate enough to not only secure a long enough slot to go into the length and breadth of the Laibach/NSK phenomenon, but was also able to get Laibach founding member and spokesman Ivan Novak on the phone for an interview on the eve of the Portland show. That was exciting for me, as I am a huge fan.
I don't want to go into too much detail as to what's going to happen, but I do hope you tune in, if you can.
