A propos de design, comme vous le voyez j'ai changé le look du blog. Ce "thème" est un peu mieux traduit et a quelques bugs de moins que le précédent. En plus je peux mettre une image d'entête. C'est mieux, non ?

The sQuba is expected to be the first real submersible car, so says Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht. Though other military vehicle can travel underwater, the unique design and engineering of the sQuba allows the vehilce to move like a 'fish' even at depth of 10 meters. Rinderknecht added:

It is undoubtedly not an easy task to make a car watertight and pressure resistant enough to be maneurable under water. The real challenge however was to create a submersible car that moves like a fish in the water.

The vision is now a reality with the introduction of the sQuba.

For this sports car to work, the combustion engine was removed and then replaced with several electric motors. There will be three motors at the rear of the car- the first motor is tasked to provide propulsion on land and the other two are tasked to drive the screws for underwater motoring.  These motors are supported by two Seabob jet drives.

The power that will drive the sQuba under water will be coming from the rechargeable Lithium-Ion  batteries.

The sQuba is a zero-emission car as documented by the rotating license plate in the rear. It produces no exhaust emissions. The Swiss are among the world's pioneers in the area of hydropower. The sQuba's filling station is the reservoir. It is no surprise that the vehilce features powerful yet energy-saving LED lighting technology, added Rinderknecht.

The Rinspeed sQuba is an unusual car, but this is not suprising coming from a James Bond fan.

Now from the looks of it, it seems that the Rinspeed sQuba vehicle is underwater.  Your eyes is not fooling you. The car is indeed underwater and this picture was released by the Swiss car maker Rinspeed. The picture shows people aboard the Rinspeed car and this Rinspeed model was unveiled at the Geneva motor show just this week. This model is supposedly the world's first real submersible car. Another cool thing about this Rinspeed model is that this sQuba concept is a zero-emission electric sports car and that its power is supplied by rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries.  And it is expected that this sports car can perform a submerged stable flight at a depth of 10 meters. Whoa.

So this car will be useful on flooded and flood-prone areas. Sounds good. Since the press release pictures show that the Rinspeed sQuba is underwater, some of you will soon ask if this car was indeed inside the tank when unveiled. Nope, to compensate for the lack of 'water' or 'beach',  a fake beach front was re-created inside the show room.

This sports car looks cute but then we have to ask, is this feasible? Will someone do his driving in the beach front and drive into the water? Kidding aside, this is one cool concept and I would'nt mind driving this one and no, not towards the seas.

Foi apresentado no Salão automóvel de Genebra e desde aí tem vindo a ganhar cada vez mais adeptos. A marca Rainspeed, que até agora era praticamente desconhecia também ficou a ganhar e já correu meio mundo em capas de jornais, sendo também de destacar que apareceu em Portugal, na capa do Jornal “Meia Hora” . O carro é composto por três motores eléctricos accionados por uma bateria de iões lítio e por isso não emite gazes para a atmosfera. Dotado também de tecnologia de ponta, este carro é um autêntico formula 1 na estrada, e debaixo de água é um submarino perfeito! Mantém-se estável até dez metros de profundidade e para se deslocar utiliza duas hélices que tem na parte traseira. Segundo o despirográfico o carro também pode deslocar-se nas estradas de forma autónoma – bastando o accionamento de um botão no painel. Rinderknecht disse que para conceber o veículo se inspirou no filme 007 – O Espião Que Me Amava, com Roger Moore interpretando o espião britânico James Bond". Que máquina! No site da Rinspeed, na sessão Concept cars, podemos ver outros carros conceituais (uns 16!), destaque para o Rinspeed Splash, que é o carro hidroplanador, premiado no Geneva Motor Show 2004.

La tecnología a veces presenta ciertos artículos que rayan en lo increíble, en la vanalidad o en algo que solamente llama la atención peroque en la práctica es nada funcional. Esto me saltó en la mente cuando ví lo que les platico a continuación.

La empresa de diseño de automóviles Rinspeed desarrolló un prototipo de auto convertible submarino que podrá comprarse en el Salón del Automóvil en Ginebra, la cual inicia el próximo 6 de marzo.

El auto, de nombre sQuba, puede alcanzar hasta 10 metros de profundidad y cuenta únicamente con dos plazas descapotadas, en las cuales tendrá que usarse tanques de oxígeno. La idea de que sea descapotado es para que los ocupantes puedan salir del vehículo rápidamente en caso de emergencia.

Según dio a conocer el diario español El País en su versión digital, el coche cuenta con tres motores, uno para propulsión en tierra y los otros dos para desplazarse durante sus inmersiones.

Este es el primer modelo que se diseña para su venta al público, ya que actualmente existen algunos que se usan en ejercicios militares.

De acuerdo con la empresa constructora la máquina utiliza lubricantes biodegradables, el motor es eléctrico y los materiales con los que fue hecho son resistentes al agua.

Hasta el momento se desconoce el precio comercial que tendrá el automóvil y cuántas unidades estarán en el mercado.

The "sQuba" will be exhibited at the International Geneva Motor Show in March 2008. The Geneva Motor Show opens to the press March 4, 2008 and for the public from March 6 through March 16, 2008.

The team at his firm Rinspeed replaced the petrol engine with three electric motors, one to power the rear wheels and two for the specially designed propellers. They are capable of taking it to 75mph on land, a more sedate 4mph while cruising in "boat" mode and a positively tranquil 2mph while underwater.

The company also claims that the car is extremely "green" as well, as it is a zero-emission vehicle powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

The pictures provided show the €1 million (750,000) prototype, which can dive to a depth of 10m (32.8 feet). Clicking on any image will provide you a larger view.

Unlike the Bond original, which featured an enclosed passenger cabin, the modern version has an open top with the occupants exposed to the elements.

The Swiss car designer explained: "The passenger compartment is three square metres of air - you'd need to add about three metric tonnes of added weight to pull it down under the surface.

That would give it the land mobility of a turtle."

The second reason for having an open cabin is safety: "Even at one metre depth, the water pressure would keep the doors closed so you could not get out in an emergency."

Although one would expect the car to sink like a stone, special compartments have been filled with foam to ensure it floats.

"The car will come to the surface by itself," said Mr. Rinderknecht.

"It is basically unsinkable."

Rather than achieving neutral buoyancy with weighting, the propellers drive it downwards so that if it were to stop it would rise up.

Once under water, its occupants breathe air coming from an integrated tank of compressed air similar to that used by scuba divers.

The vehicle can stay under water "until you run out of air or battery power," about two hours.

Performance may in fact not be expected by looks, but the dynamics of the car to attract attention are presented in the water. A fabricante de automóveis Rinspeed apresentará no próximo mês em Genebra o sQuba, o primeiro carro submarino para uso pessoal do mundo.

O automóvel, que também é conversível, poderá ficar submerso a até 10m de profundidade graças a três motores especiais e totalmente ecológicos, já que usam energia elétrica e os lubrificantes usados são biodegradáveis.

O veículo é aberto para que, em caso de emergências, os passageiros possam sair rapidamente e para poder respirar ele conta com tanques e válvulas de oxigênio.

Poucas pessoas, entretanto, poderão ter esse carro, uma vez que seus equipamentos são muito caros e o seu acabamento será feito com diamantes encrustados.

Rinspeed to debut submersible sQuba in Geneva

Rinspeed, a boutique automotive design company, plans on blowing away the upcoming Geneva auto show with its sQuba concept, a car that swims underwater, drives autonomously on land, and is emission-free. The car, based on a Lotus Elise, uses an electric motor to drive the wheels on land, plus two other motors to drive propellers underwater. According to Rinspeed, it uses a laser system to detect obstacles ahead so that it can drive itself. Rinspeed released video of the sQuba, showing that it really can swim underwater.

Sound familiar? James Bond's Lotus swam underwater in the 1977 movie, The Spy Who Loved Me. Of course, that was movie magic. The sQuba can float on the surface and--when the driver floods the open-top cabin--the car will submerge. Rather than sinking to the bottom, it can travel through the water at depths up to 10 meters. Along with its rear propellers, it has small water jets on the sides. Yes, the occupants will get wet, but an integrated scuba tank means they can breathe. Rinspeed points out that the interior materials won't be harmed by contact with salt water, although your tuxedo probably won't fare so well.

El 6 de marzo arranca (nunca mejor utilizado el término) el Salón del Automóvil de Ginebra. La empresa Rinspeed estará presentando su prototipo sQuba, el primer coche submarino del mundo,que puede llegar a 10 metros de profundidad, tiene dos plazas, tres motores eléctricos, tapicería resistente al agua y lubricantes biodegradables. Hasta ahí, el sueño hecho realidad. Pero, seguimos leyendo “sus ocupantes deberán usar tanques de oxígeno y trajes de buceo porque la cabina es abierta”. QUÉÉÉÉ´???? Y para qué quiero un auto donde no puedo pitar ni escuchar música ni leerme el “El Mundo de los Delfines” de Jacques Cousteau (para entrar en tema vio?). sQuba采用了锂离子电池驱动车上的三个马达，完全达到了零排放的标准。潜水车能够在水下10米的深度潜航，利用车子后方的螺旋推进器，还有车头讯号灯两旁的喷射推进器前进和转换方向。

法兰克表示：“要车子造得封闭防水和抵御压力，又能够在水下活动不是简单任务，真正的挑战是如何让潜水车能够像鱼一样的游动。”

为了让车子能够顺利潜入水中，以及确保司机乘客水下逃生的必要，sQuba采用了开蓬车的设计。入水时，车上的人必须戴上氧气罩来呼吸。

正当大家以为，sQuba的魅力只能在水底下展现的时候，设计师在陆地上也为车子加入了一个罕见的技术突破。 车头前方装置了一个镭射感应系统，让车子能够在无人的情况下，自动驾驶。
