When we were in Paris in 2006, we stayed in his favorite neighborhood Rue Cler. Rick has, in fact, drawn some criticism for loving this neighborhood too much that it is oftentimes dubbed "Rue Rick Steves". No doubt, in 2006 as we sat on Rue Cler enjoying our déjeuner, we noticed many tourists sitting near us thumbing through Rick's Paris 2006 guidebook. Lest you jump to the conclusion that Rick is a one-note wonder, he has posted a marvelous article for CNN expounding upon the glories of rue des Martyrs. This neighborhood, in the ninth arrondissement, is just north of Montmarte. We visited on a Sunday in September 2006 and walked the famous steps, as seen here. Wishing we were there again . . . Rick's words will have to suffice for now!
