Quite a few times, up to the 4 mile mark, I had to make myself slow down a bit as I felt like I was pushing myself a bit too much. I got to a mile from home and just kept the pressure on, I knew this would be tough as there are two rises, the last being quite nasty.

The National Assembly’s Council of Ethnic Minorities on Oct. 11 held a plenary session to discuss the bills of Vietnam Nationality Law (revised) and Health Insurance Law.

Regarding the bill of revised nationality law, most of the Ethnic Council members agreed with details of the bill in line with national interests. They made comments on various issues, including nationality principles, documents demonstrating Vietnamese citizenship, dealing with Vietnamese citizens bearing another nationality, responsibilities of relevant agencies, and others.

Most of the legislators agreed on the principle of one nationality, but added that there should be more open regulations to deal with the country’s trend of international integration.

Law-makers also recommended full coverage of healthcare costs for poor ethnic minority people in special disadvantaged communities.

They also proposed terms of medicare cards for the poor expand to three years from the current one year due to numerous difficulties in supplying the cards for the correct target people.

For farmers many raised concerns over their interest, asking for budget solution so as farmers can have health insurance cards of their own in 2010.

Representatives of ethnic minorities in the legislation are scheduled to discuss several bills related to road traffic rules, revised, executing civil court sentences, cadres and public employees, special consumption taxes, revised, high technology and biological diversity.--

Web applications in today’s volatile Internet environment need to be able to have tight control ov

Web applications in today’s volatile Internet environment need to be able to have tight control over their scripts.

Scripts form the backbone of the functionality behind such programmed interfaces, and without them, an application would be little more than a static Web page. User authentication is one of the hallmarks of Web development, and is natively the prime candidate for such strict script control. When developing with PHP, developers have the choice to refine their scripts to maximize workability and efficiency by employing the use of either sessions or cookies.*

* - There various other methods for user authentication such as HTTP authentication and querystrings, however these are largely tools of the past and/or no longer scalable to the functional level of today’s demanding Web applications.

Each method of script control that we described has its pros and cons:

With the advent of PHP 5, it seems that more developers are turning toward session usage in order to authenticate users and to provide for richer Web application experiences. Let’s take a look at why this is so.

Sessions:

Do not store physical files on the client’s computer

Files are instead stored on the actual server

Sessions must be enabled in order to use them effectively

Can be accessed in the global sense (by using the $_SESSION superglobal)

Easy to manipulate, update, create or destroy

Less overhead as session implementation is largely controlled through the initial PHP configuration file

Can store both simple (string, floats, etc.) and complex data types (entire instantiations of objects)

After viewing this list, cookies seem near archaic.

Cookies:

Written to a temporary file on the user’s computer

This file lets applications know if a user is unique

Potential for various security issues

Because of these issues, there is a trend for users to not browse with cookies enabled

If a user happens across a Web application that uses cookies and their browse is set to reject them, the application will not work properly

Cookies are highly customizable, offering much OOP functionality (ex. you can create your own classes for dealing with cookies)

Access via $_COOKIE superglobal

I personally recommended that developers use sessions when programming their applications if and only if for the accessibility and usability issues. A Web application need be accessed by the greatest number of users as possible (security matters aside). However, both cookies and sessions are effective ways to tighten the controls of your scripts and each should be in the toolkit of any PHP developer.

ATPad is a replacement of standard Notepad. Among its features: tabbed environment, customizable editor, lines numbering, word wrapping, recent documents, sessions, bookmarks, reloading on-demand, changes tracking, reloading in interval, portability.

ATPad is a simple Notepad replacement written in pure C and Windows API. Keeping simplicity of Notepad it provides many additional features, such as:

    * Tabbed environment - especially useful for working with multiple files (for example, logs).
* Fully customizable editor - colors, fonts etc.
* Lines numbering - it's hard to find these days any respectable editor which does not support this feature.
* Word wrapping - can anybody write long scripts without it?
* List of recently open documents - ATPad stores this list accordingly to MAC address, so "Recent Files" on your laptop will look different from "Recent Files" on your desktop machine! But if you run the program from removable drive and work with files on this drive, they will be always presented in list, regardless of MAC address of hosting computer.
* Keeping last session - start the work exactly from the point you've finished (all said above about list of recent documents is true against last sessions as well).
* Bookmarks - never lose your way.
* Displaying whitespaces - tabs, spaces, line breaks.
* Reloading documents "on-demand" - instead of reopening them.
* Outer changes tracking - stay informed when any of currently open documents has been changed out of program.
* Reloading document in specified interval - you can specify interval for recurrent document reloading.
* Sending documents via email - it's possible to send each document, even "Untitled", via email as attachment.
* Portability - ATPad does not require installation, it can be started from any drive (fixed or flash) and leaves no traces on host computer after finishing.

ATPad is not purposed to compete with great names and great editors. Everyone has its own role and function.

Mazette.

Ouch!

I forgot how much marathon training hurt - until today!

I've got the day off work to sort out the car and get my long run in before visiting friends for the weekend. Managed to get out of the door just after 8am for a 9 mile out and back along the canal. Instead of heading into Milton Keynes I went the other direction, towards Northampton. I ended up just by Yardly Gobion and ran alongside a great bit of the Grand Union.

I started to feel it at 10 miles which started to feel tough at 13. When I reached 15 miles all I wanted to do was stop and collapse. I was out of fuel by now and ever step forwards was through pain until I was home and had covered the 18 miles. I've not had that feeling since training last year.

Some days ago a friend, Mitanei, and I had a little Origami-Session, but I forgot to write about it. We had 6 crazy hours of folding paper. First he showed me how to fold the cute rabbit he designed. It was a lot of fun. It was the first time we used my new big sheets of Tant (35x35cm) and the paper was really nice to fold.

Here are the results, the pose just predestined them to build a couple. They're sooo cute

After the rabbits ate nearly the half of the time, we used the rest for folding and testing some ideas.

After having some time off I dropped back to 10 hill repeats straight after work. It was quite a bright evening but I popped on my fluoresent bib on - just in case.

Tons of cars! One wing mirror nearly clipped me and an Audi TT driver gave me no room leading me to jump into a bush or get run over!?!?! Tossers!

Really need to switch to Willen, just wanted to get it out of the way as this hill is so convenient. Oh picture of my route amussed me, shows how inaccurate GPS is ;)

i was laughing with this family about how cheerful i sound when writing in my blog. but, i've realized, how can i look at these cute faces and not be cheerful? i remember when i had my first son, my husband and i would just look at him and be amazed at all of the facial expressions he made. we were mesmerized. all i wanted to do was watch him, so i wouldn't miss one of his faces!

i love hanging out with this family! and this little guy had a lot of great faces the day i was with him! here's a sampling:

I went to a few new blogs over the weekend and found some amazing music. That's all I can say to sum up last night's mix. I found an awesome collection of a 1971 Brazillian psychedelic music that I was very much excited to play and I did and the response was wonderful. I'll add more sinlge files of the Brazillian for you to personally hear and enjoy.

Besides that, the session was really good. Unfortunately Noudi was out of town so if you're a fan of Noudi, lo siento, she'll be back next week. But I was there and it was just you and me last night, it was healthy to have that one on one experience once in a while, right? right.

I could go off on all of the music I played last night but I'd prefer you ask because like I said, I go off on why this music is great and why you should have it but I'm sure you're conscious enough to know why.

Enjoy the tunes, laters.

As usual, my recovery run ended up being a fast one! I usually feel really good and bouncy the day after my long run that it feels like I can fly... Today was no exception.

Ran from home to Tongwell Lake, then the mile around it and home. 4 miles :) First mile I flew, second mile started to hurt but I pushed myself to the mile marker, 3rd mile I took easy but it crept up towards the end, 4th mile I just dug deep and forced myself to keep going.

Did get a bit of a talking to when I got home about going to fast, but it just felt right :)
