die ersten zwei wochen wohnten wir bei Clark und Louise in ihrem wohnzimmer und aßen aus ihrem immer gut gefüllten kühlschrank. wohl nie anders hätten wir ein solch guten einblick in das alltags leben einer kanadischen kleinfamilie erleben können. wir schliefen auf einem auziehbaren sofa, direkt im sofa dieser familie. da der sohn ebenso wieder bei seiner familie untergekommen ist, war alles ein wenig gewöhnungsbedürftig für uns alle. Allerdings motivierte uns diese situation zu mehr: mehr stadt, mehr wohnungssuche, ....

Vancouver ist eine atemberaubende tolle stadt - die so neugierig auf mehr macht, es ergeben sich möglichkeiten wie in sonst keiner. also alleinig von der vielfalt der Landschaft und sodann auch der rießigen möglichkeit nach der lohnarbeit seinen tag zu gestallten. Egal wo man steht und geht man erhascht immer einen blick auf die bis zu 2000m großen berge die einen umgeben - bis in den mai hinein waren diese noch teilweise mit schnee bedeckt. Überall grüne großzügige Parks und sand strände soweit das auge reicht - hö, also wenn man so mit um die ecke blicken kann.

Wir wohnten erst in der 6th Ave East-Side in einer 1,5 zimmer wohnung direkt an dem viertel wo man es sich mehr oder minder stark als hippi fühlen kann und eigentlich so der pulsierenste alternative teil der stadt ist. Das große problem an diese wohnung waren die noch sehr kleinen baby kakalaken aber wir wollten nicht wissen wieviele es wohl schaffen werden unter unserem teppich zu überleben und kündigten nach einem monat diese wohnung.

Nun wohnen fast am Strand von Vancouver West-Side in der Maple Street (die ahornblatt strasse) - keine fünf minuten zufuß entfernt und wir liegen an einem breiten badestrand. Die klare und metiterane pacifik luft ist uns allgegnwärtig. Es ist so angenehm und wohnlich schön in unsere Suiet jep ne Suiet. Sie liegt Suterrain und streckt sich das ganze Haus entlang. Endlich fühle ich mich nicht mehr auf der suche einer bleibe sondern kann das erleben was ich wollte und zu dem finden was ich will. Ein teil der taiwanesischen Vermieter Familie wohnt direkt über uns aber mit ihr ist es ganz angenehm - zur zeit ist die gesammte familie da, wobei dann alle es dem vater (der das haus wohl mit aufgebaut hat) recht machen wollen und wurschteln wie nix gutes im garten und am haus herum. Nudenn dieser Spuk verzieht sich bestimmt auch bald wieder.

Am frühen morgen gehe ich des öfteren in den nahe gelegenen Pool und schwimme die gesammten 130 meter lange bahn mehrmals oder sitze am strand mit meiner tasse cafe von zuhause und erwache mit den wellen am strand. und dann geht es drei bis viermal die woche ins begel cafe, wobei ich hier in der freude eines kellners und begel bäckers mir meinen kleinen lohn verdiene - ersteinmal.

Zu den grandiosen Freizeit angeboten lässt sich nur soviel sagen, dass man hier alles aber auch wirklich alles machen kann. Von der normalen wanderung in einem der rießigen großen parkanlagen (die meist aus regenwald bestehen - also dieser den es in den taiga gefilden gibt) bis zu klettertouren hoch hinauf auf einen der nahen berge. Sowie alle erdenklichen sportarten am strand oder man geht dem gepflegten tennis spiel auf einem der vielen umsonstplätzen nach. oh ja auch basball und basketball wofür hier extra viele anlagen aufgebaut sind. Wie ihr eventuell entnehmen werde ich hier ein wenig zum extremsportler avancieren und werde dem noch viele stärker nachgehen. Heliski, Snowboarden, Kajaken, Bergsteigen .....

I'm such a nerd and I so don't even care.

It's been such an arduous - well, can you call procrastinating creatively for fiveish years arduous? - journey to this point but I'm so happy to actually have the thing semi-written that it eclipses the previous half-decade it took to actually arrive. Of course, a wise author never counts her words before the word count but still...those of you that know my writing process and how utterly molasses-like it is (except for that one thing, which we shall not mention here...It-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named; or, You-Know-What) will probably agree that this is pretty freakin' big. PLOT!

You know, I don't think I felt like an author until this point. After all, the thing's just been a random collection of vignettes for so long that it might have been something I did one day because I was bored (which, of course, is the real reason this whole thing started in the first place, naturally - more on that at some point).

But, dear readers, I'm happy to inform you that my extended absences have not yielded nothing (though a few more posts might have been helpful, I'm sure). Things are starting to line up, it would seem, and it feels faster and faster every time. Who knows? I could have a good start by Christmas.

Then again, I hear the door knocking, and it just might be that Murphy fellow...
