OK, hello my name is Steven and I am a 20.2 year old boy from NY. I am 5'7" and weigh almost 125 lbs. My best friend is 15 and his name is John. He is also 5'7" and weighs 130 lbs. He just got a new girlfriend. I recently met her she is really nice and hot. She is a lawyer and her name is Rachel and she is 5'5". She is a sweet, charming British lady. He and her have been going out for several weeks about 6. I just recently got to meet her when I went out to dinner with my friend and he introduced me to his new girlfriend. We all went out to dinner together, then the movies, then the bar. We went to a local bar and did not check IDs there and we all enjoyed a cigarette in one hand, while we drank vodka, beer, wine and Long Island Iced Teas in the other. We had the most wonderful night together and she is SO nice and sweet. When John and I were alone one night earlier, he said that he had about 3,000 dollars saved for an engagement ring he plans to propose and get engaged to her in a fewWeeks. His parents and her parents are OK with them going out and stuff. Although, I should mention, because he specifically mentioned this to me that they were not sleeping together or having sex yet and I will explain why and will shed a LOT of light on this story. So, everyone is still cool. It is a serious relationship. BUT, he is a 15 year old boy, and she is, well a 53 year old girl. But, everyone is TOTALLY cool with it and it is their serious relationship and she is genuinely kind and likes younger men, and is not bad or a molester or deceiver or betrayer or anything like that. Please believe me when I say Rachel is a sweet, kind, loving lady and is in no way taking advantage as what I can imagine some who are reading may believe. But, no this is not true. They both totally love each other and plan to get married soon after the engagement and I will be the best man at their wedding. I am wishing them the best of luck and helping John and Rachel with their wedding at his request. By the way Rachel is so nice and wonderful and I am great friends with her too and her parents. She also looks very young and thin and healthy. I would say she looks about 33. But I am wishing them the best in their future. And, well, that is my story. What do you think?

I am now back in the UK... and enjoying the weather that accompanies my visit (woot).
It seems as ever (despite the best attempts of the Olympics) most sports news is dominated by football, and this week the start of the English Premier League and the selection of England's new captain... which is John Terry.

Whilst I don't disagree with the appointment, personally I would have preferred to seen Steven Gerrard in that role. Howeve, I feel that either he (Gerrard) Rio Ferdinand or John Terry would do a decent job.

This brings us neatly onto the selection of the squad... who will Don Fabio (don't you just loathe The Sun) pick. Well... here is my selection and formation.

Firstly my formation... I would go for a 4-5-1 formation, similar to that used by both Liverpool, Chelsea and English and Premier League champions (sic) Manchester United. This involves a standard back four with attacking fullbacks with two defensively minded midfielders just in front supporting three attacking midfielders and a single (preferably Strong and fast striker) up front. The reason for this selection is simple... most of the players chosen in this squad know this system as they play it for their domestic clubs.... and it produces attractive attacking football, something that has been missing from England for a long time.

So the squad...

Goalkeeper: David James
James for me still has to be England's number one, despite getting on a bit and being prone to the odd clanger their are very few better keepers in the premiership... let alone English ones. He adds experience and is a good communicator at the back.
Other contenders for this spot include: Green, Foster, Carson, Hart and Manual Alumina (if he can get English citizenship he should be considered)... Paul Robinson would have to show a complete change in fortune to be considered.

Right Back: Wes Brown
Despite not particularly liking this player, right fullback is a position in which England are woefully short of cover. Wes can attack and cross a ball, and his positional sense isn't bad... in essence you can be THAT bad if you've won the Premier League and Champions League.
Other considerations: Micah Richards Glen Johnson and Gary Neville (if he ever shows some of his previous form)

Center backs: John Terry and Rio Ferdinand
Two of the best defenders in the world let alone England and this has to be the first choice center back pairing. Rio is fast and (despite loosing concentration occasionally) a very good reader of the game. Terry will sacrifice anything for his team... just don't let him take a penalty.
Other considerations: Woodgate (if fit), Micah Richards, David (Davros) Wheater.

Left Back: Ashley (money money money) Cole
Ashley blows (allegedly) hot and cold, but there is little doubt that he is England's best left full back. Although he isn't very tall, he is very fast and makes Christiano Ronaldo look pretty ordinary whenever he plays against him. He will have a big year for Chelsea this year under (allegedly ;-)) Scolari.
Other considerations: Wayne Bridge, Matthew (goal of the season) Taylor.

Defensive Midfielders: Owen Hargreaves and Gareth Barry
Owen Hargreaves was the man we all loved to hate a few years ago but has gone on to show what a very good player he is. A real work horse with good versatility he must start if fit. Gareth Barry, lusted after by Rafa Benitez and Liverpool fans alike is my second choice. When I first thought about this squad I didn't think that choosing two DMs would be hard, but there is a real lack of quality in this area. Barry gets the nod over the others because he is a natural leader and is left footed, he also takes a good set piece.
Other considerations: Michael Carrick, Huddestone, Mark Noble.

Attacking Midfielders/Forwards: Joe Cole, Gerrard, Rooney
Three of the most technically gifted English footballers all very strong with a reasonable amount of pace. All can pass and shoot... all of them quality.
Other considerations: Lampard, David Bentley, Ashley Young, Jermain Jenas, Shaun Write-Phillips, Arron Lennon, Stewart Downing, Kieron Dyer

Striker: Gabriel Agbonlahor
A controversial choice. Gabby has shown his ability in the last two seasons in the prem, he is lightning fast and knows how to find the back of the net. He's also very young and likely to improve and isn't made of glass, so wont break in half as soon as someone comes close.
Other considerations: Ashton, Crouch, Owen, Defoe, Walcott.

I'm that guy who by role definition and rank controls your life.

I'm exactly like that hitman guy in the movie Michael Clayton. The one who works for the crazy woman lawyer of U-North, except that I don't work for a woman. IDC promoted me to be top dick because I can keep the fear of living God in our teachers. I make sure teachers don't get any creative ideas and so that they never stray an iota from the class structure. Why are you looking at me that way? I'm serious.

But that's not the half of it. Basically I love to make people cringe upon hearing my name. I used to play football out in the northwest and more or less I see life through that lens. On top of that, my MBA gives me the brainpower to see through most people's souls.

Yes. I'm that guy. I love my job. I love being top dick here.

Hello everybody! This is my very first: It's Time For A............. And the topic is: a game review! YAYYYY! Guess which game. Of course you all know it, but I'll just say it for the fun of it. BOOM BLOX! YAYYYYYYYY! Now, on to the review.

Boom Blox for Wii:

What do you get when you put Steven Spielberg, Electronic Arts, and a ton of Blocks into a blender (mix well)? BOOM BLOX!! Made specifically for the Wii, Boom Blox is a game for the whole family. The game has a simple concept, but not simple as in lying down on the couch, sleeping and drooling, but simple as in what to do! You can blast blox, throw blox, build with blox, explode blox, knock down blox, everything imaginable! There are ice blox, chemical blox, blom blox, and even Firework blox; with tons and tons more! In Adventure mode, you journey from a gem kingdom, to a lawless western town. From a place with Tiki's and Gorillas, to a spooky Halloween night. There are a ton of cute little jenga like characters like dogs, beavers, gorillas, sheep, monkeys, and even tiki's! However, there are a few monkeys with horns (to look like a devil) and skeletons (not to mention a Grim reaper) but they are more neat then horrifying. In Party Mode, you could bring the whole family together to play! With up to four players, you can be competitive, cooperative, or just play for fun! There is also good challenge and puzzle in the game to make it even more fun. I would give this game a rating of 4 out of 5 stars (I really liked it).

*****************************************************************************************************************

Did you like it? I hope so. I guess I'll see you later! Adios!

-Bub

er- i mean,

Hello.

I have this friend named Steven...and we talk a lot ((mostly on AIM)). Now I could tell you the full story of how we met--it's a long story, too long actually...one having to deal with a rainbow, a magical unicorn and a man who lived in an urn to hide from the wicked light of day--but I'll give you the cut and dry version. Basically we met through my best friend who is Steven's ex-roommate.

Aaaanyway, it was Steven who convinced me to start blogging. Aaaaand since our AIM conversations are often filled with comedic witticisms and things that make you think a lot, you will ((on occasion)) find a post about this Steven character.

I was aimlessly rampaging through my old saved documents and stumbled on a few of our old conversations…and thus, the “Steven” category was born. So, yeah…that’s about it. I hope you derive as much enjoyment sifting through the coming posts on my friend Steven as I will ((I’m sure he will as well)).

P.S. Steven is Asian and yes, we do pick on his heritage as much as we can. If, in any way, Asians offend you…I’d advise you to NOT read any of the posts in the “Steven” category, as his Asian-ness will surely cause that creepy girl from the Grudge to appear by your bedside and scare the living daylights out of you…

…hehe, just kidding. Enjoy!

In a recent post, Sean from Film Junk.com says:
“It’s official… live action remakes of ani

In a recent post, Sean from Film Junk.com says:

"It’s official… live action remakes of anime films are the next big thing...Last year we heard that Production I.G. were looking into a live action adaptation of their own smash hit animated film Ghost in the Shell; this week we have news that Dreamworks has acquired the rights and are moving forward with the project. This film joins the growing list of anime adaptations in production that includes Akira, Speed Racer, Dragonball and James Cameron’s Battle Angel. Taking another cue from James Cameron, it looks like Dreamworks will also be doing Ghost in the Shell in 3-D."

That's pretty much the substance of it. On the surface, this seems like an innocent little announcement (I know that I certainly didn't think it threatening) but when one looks at the blogosphere as well as discussion boards and forums everywhere, one find almost incessant discussion and debate going on. So, what could the fuss be about?

One issue that seems to be uppermost in most anime fans' minds is the faithfulness of Dreamworks' rendition of the beloved classic. As diehard fans, we all are supposed to be 'worried' about this; in fact, I've seen some people even say that they need to 'keep vigil' on the studio to see how they create the movie. What's worse, this kind of thing is actually being taken seriously.

Again, some other discussion boards are actively promoting independent studies and 'reviews' of the movie. In all, this paranoia is creating a very hostile environment for the movie to come out.

But some people don't even want this to happen. Some posters that I've talked to on most DBs are coming up with amazing theories on why GitS 2.0 shouldn't come out. Some interesting ones are: "Why waste so much money on 3D and CGI when the original anime is still around?", "GitS has ended in terms of storylines; there's nothing more to do in the story department," or even "Who's gonna play the characters? There is no actress good enough to play Motoko Kusanagi!"

All bs, IMO.

Here's my piece: let the movie come out. Sure, it's a 3D movie, and a Hollywood version at that. I'm also aware of Hollywood's horrible track record when it comes to live-action remakes of anime (Speed Racer made me cry in sheer frustration). But we trust Spielberg with a lot of things; surely the guy who made E.T. and Schindler's List has enough brain cells to make this a success too.

And please. Just stop with the argument about money. That's totally disingenous. The anime versions took as much money to make, especially Innocence, with its cutting-edge graphics and animation techniques. Also, when you're talking about an industry which spends millions of dollars on animation techniques every year, the statement about money sounds totally childish.

As for character selection, here's a little quote from a respondent who commented on the post quoted above:

"I can’t see why they can’t pull it off. I could picture Erika Sawajiri, or some girl like her, maybe a little older as Kusanagi. Thats what I would do, if they don’t want to do it right, then they should leave it alone!!"

So...there are actresses who can play Motoko Kusanagi, don't worry! A cast in a remake doesn't always have to be faithful to the original, especially if the original is a work of animation. And don't forget: the Major is only as real as Atsuko Tanaka and Masamune Shirow-sensei could make her. So stop with the worrying!

The story angle is also similarly unimaginative. There are thousands of storylines out there, just waiting to be picked. For example, after GitS 2nd Gig ended, what happened to the rebels at Deshima? Also, what was the real history between Kuze and the Major? These, and many more, stories could well qualify for fuller treatment in the movie.

Therefore, I say, just wait till the movie arrives in theaters. Then you and me and all of us GitS fans will know whether the live-action 3D really hits the spot or not. All our questions will be answered, and all doubts put to rest. Until then, please don't encourage panic reactions and knee-jerk reactions. And above all, keep the Net flowing without spam and flaming. That way, we can all enjoy GitS our own way-as well as the rest of the anime phenomenon.

Till then, enjoy the trailer:

I love this video. It is a great parody of the idiotic questions that vegetarians and vegans live with everyday. No one minds talking about themselves and their lifestyle as long as the questioner is sincere and earnestly wants to understand a person's point of view. But when the questions are some sort of cloaked insult aimed at trapping you in some culinary anomaly just for the sake of justifying their own life choices without having to adequately think through their position, then they are nothing more than insensitive and mean-spirited. I hate that, and hope they stub their big toes in the night.

I love Saturdays. Especially Saturday mornings in which all the knittas get together, and today was one of those days. There was a lot of laughing since Steven, Abbe, (me), Gene, Staci, Meg, Caro and Melissa were all present this morning. :)

Also, I finished my green socks yesterday while watching the Olympics - bad idea! I'm not too familiar with the toe decreases that the pattern called for, and I now have a decrease on the top of my toe instead of the side.... oh well! I still like 'em. ;)

Dawa Steven Sherpa stood on the top of Everest late last month, (as did Apa Sherpa for the 18th time

Dawa Steven Sherpa stood on the top of Everest late last month, (as did Apa Sherpa for the 18th time!) as part of the Eco Everest Expedition 2008. Their expedition was about the highs and lows of humankind’s achievement. For not only can we stumble through the rarefied, oxygen depleted, air of the world tallest peak , we can pump the higher atmosphere full of climate changing greenhouse gases.

[caption id="attachment_122" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Apa Sherpa on the summit of Everest"][/caption]
It was this latter achievement that Dawa Steven Sherpa is determined to do something about. For a year ago, whilst descending from another successful Everest summit attempt, he, along with some fellow sherpas, nearly came to a very sticky end, when the famed Khumbu icefall turned to slush and collapsed. Global warming had come to the Himalaya in a very personal way.

So he returned in 2008 with the with International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in tow to carry out a scientific investigation of the long Khumbu valley.

Glacial Lake Outburst Floods
One of the studies made was related to glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), where the water mass becomes to great for its natural dam wall of rubble, otherwise known as a terminal moraine, and breaks through, resulting in massive downstream flooding. (similar to the earthquake lake problem that China recently experienced. Were the glacial lakes at the foot of Everest, and elsewhere in the Himalaya, to breach their moraines, it could have catastrophic consequences for the sherpa people living down the valley. And the lakes are growing in mass as glacier ice melts become more prevalent. (Wikipedia reckons that a glacial lake outburst flood created the English Channel in days of yore, so they are not events to considered lightly.)

Solar Ovens
A ten point "Eco-Code of Conduct" (ECC) for mountaineering expeditions was also being road tested on this climb to see it if could be applied to expeditions around the world. For example, the base camp kitchen used parabolic solar heaters rather the usual kerosene or cooking gas. Sherpa reckoned they worked fantastically. “They would melt and boil 10 litres of snow in 35 minutes, and we used it for cooking, making tea, washing dishes and having showers," he said.

Round 19 of the AFL season is nicknamed Tom Wills Round after one of the sport’s creators. I w

Round 19 of the AFL season is nicknamed Tom Wills Round after one of the sport's creators. I wonder if it is possible to retroactively assign Round 18 the less prestigous title, The 'Controversial Suspension' Round.

Over the past 48 hours the AFL match review panel (and the Collingwood football club, for very different issues mind you) have handed out some hefty penalties for an assortment of offences. Jeff Farmer has accepted a one match ban for striking in the only case to, more than likely, find itself exempt from scrutiny and debate.

The match review panel yesterday offered Carlton's Steven Browne a four match ban for his "hit" on Jason Porplyzia. Apparently, the panel felt that having an off balance player accidentally fall and collide with your shoulder as you run past them is an aggressive act worthy of a month on the sidelines.

The injuries suffered by Porplyzia, some bruising of the brain occured, are certainly no joke but a four week suspension for Browne is more laughable than most Will Ferrel movies. (Admittedly not much of an achievment but still...) Thankfully, it has just been reported on www.afl.com.au that Browne has taken his case to the tribunal who have dismissed the charge. At least some sanity has been restored.

The other controversial case before the tribunal as we speak is that of Darren Milburn. The Cat was given four weeks for "rough conduct" (a strange enough offence in a contact sport) after tackling Tiger Shane Edwards and slamming him into the ground after the ball came loose.

I have to state right now that I am an avid Richmond fan and my initial biased reaction when I saw Edwards carried off was one of outrage and anger towards Milburn. I still believe that the force used was unneccessary and there was a good chance that Milburn knew the ball was no longer in Edwards' possession. However there is still a certain conflict of interest in formulating my opinion.

On one hand, the passionate richmond supporter in me still demands vengeance for the little number 10's sore head caused by such unneccessary force. The flip side is that tackling is one of the most exciting aspects of a great sport and to see it punished with a suspension is almost like disqualifying a tennis player for serving the ball too fast. The one thing I remember from tennis lessons is that a good service game helps win matches. I believe Collingwood proved earlier in the season that a good tackling ability can win you matches, even against the all-conquering cats.

Luckily (a poor word choice considering) a similar incident occured in the Saints-Power match that resulted in Robert Harvey being concussed. The tackle didn't lead to any action from the match review panel, something I found initially surprising. Perhaps the fact that Harvey is a champion of the sport and one of my favourite non-Richmond players has led to me becoming inadvertantly biased again. I suppose I'll have to let others debate the issue instead.

As I write this, Milburn is making his case to the tribunal. Their ruling, regardless of which way they go, will certainly spark a debate across the AFL world tomorrow. Unless of course, everyone is still talking about Collingwood and their suspensions. We'll just have to tune into talkback radio to find out.

...Just a quick edit to my original post. Milburn has received a one match ban from the tribunal instead of the original four matches. A happy medium perhaps..?

Wuddup Folkafolkz!!!!. Lets see what happened when we talked last? Umm. Aaah the whole little deally on what gByG happened huh? The dreaded first post. Well hey, maybe what I will do is introduce who I am personally and a little bit about the other dudes. They have their own log-ins (so dope!) and they can update yall too!

Well my name is Ndidi (in-de-de), Nigerian for endurance, everyone calls me didi, just because I have found it to be a tad bit easier. No one has to say "huh...what was that?" haha. Neway, I was born in Cali, lived here all my life and I am a college student (graduating this upcoming Spring) from CSUN. Its been a long, uncomfortable journey, but I am glad it is almost over.

Man...I cannot say one specific thing I do work-wise or what I want to do career wise. I do know this much...I Grind. I have my hands in the music industry a bit with my music team, The Corporation (www.myspace.com/dacorporation) and I also do a lot in the computer industry. I am pretty well involved in the entertainment industry, and I of course must have clothes. I am kind what you could say a specific dresser. Hahaha, I remeber sometimes, I would not even want to go to school if I didn't feel I was dressing fresh enough. I think that is one reason why it took me so long to skoot outa school.

I like to...communicate. I am one of those types of guys that likes to know about people, what they do and how they do it and I like to network. Networking is important because it really lets u know that this whole idea of (6-degrees of separation) is real! Or is it 7 degrees? Uhhh........anyway.

The way I ran into one of the guys you all shall meet (Steven G) is I knew the man from man, high school?? Its been so long I kinda forgot and he has wanted to run a clothing line since then! What was that, like...2000 ish? 1999? Its been a long process and he would always talk to me about it and I would always say lets do it then!!! Hahaha, its 2008 and its is happening. Things move so fast, especially time it seems. The other guy (Mikey Mike) has been in the scene for a long time and works extremely hard on his craft. These guys eat colors and breathe fabric. One thing I would recommend to anyone who is doing anything in life is to involve themselves with people who are serious about something...anything. If associating with people who are half stepping in small things, you should only expect the worst when it comes to business matters *food for thought eh :)

*Till Later Folks! *pss...guess what though...I don't think you never knew we needed a heat transfer machine...well guess what...WE GOT ONE NOW!!!! And heck, while I am at it, tell us what you think about these design concepts...would you rock it, or would you rock it?

While we're talking about Benicio Del Toro...

...Steven Soderbergh's four-and-a-half hour epic biopic of Ernesto "Che" Guevara (Benicio Del Toro) has managed to surface on a Spanish movie site. The trailer is grainy and in total espanol. The problem is we may never get to see the film at all. Soderbergh has yet to find a distributor in Hollywood willing to pick it up. He's not helping his cause by adamantly refusing the film be broken up for a limited release this December. Eventually the two parts - the first, The Argentine and the second, Guerrilla - would release separately, first in January and then the second in February. Confounding Soderbergh's situation was the film's less-than-stellar reception at Cannes earlier this year. I'll say this, Soderbergh has taken an...interesting look at the rebel's life, but if there's one guy who can make any part worth seeing, it's Benicio. You can find the trailer here

I live in an apartment near the fourth ring road. There are many shops under our building. My mother always buy some cookies at one of their shops.

If you go across the street, you can see a huge shopping mall. It is humongous! There are hundreds of shops in this mall including three big shops, a big sports club, a theatre and a supermaket. On the fifth floor of this building, there are many different restaurants, you can eat Chinese food, Japanese food, Korean food and some western food. And the Chinese food restaurants are the most popular, so you can eat many different Chinese meals. In another word, you can eat the food from everywhere in China! I think it’s really fantastic! I love the mall very much.

In addition, there are also some schools, and the elementary school attached to Renmin University of China is one of the best schools all over Beijing.

What’s more, there are many lawns near our community. In summer, old pepole and children are often playing on the lawns. My parents and I always go there to take a walk after supper.

In a word, it is really a good community.
