<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>C'est l'une des plus belles histoires racontées par <a title="Pierre-Marie Beaude - Biographie 2007" href="http://www.prix-chronos.org/auteurs/beaude.htm" target="_blank">Pierre-Marie Beaude</a>, dont l'humanité, la connaissance des hommes, du monde, de la nature et du passage du temps traversent les écrits et bouleversent ceux qui les lisent.</p>
<p>Elle raconte "<strong>Comment le moula moula sauva la caravane du sel</strong>" : c'est une histoire d'eau et de vie, de fatalité et de miracle, de forces minuscules et immenses. C'est, au cœur du désert, le moment où la caravane du sel, perdue et déviée de sa route millénaire, perd un à un tous ses membres qui s'effondrent, par manque d'eau : et c'est une goutte minuscule qui, suivie d'autres, en permet le retour à la vie...</p>

<p><em>Pour en savoir plus</em> sur l'<strong>azalai</strong>, qui est au centre de l'histoire, il s'agit de la caravane du sel, dont la route est connue et utilisée par les Touareg depuis des siècles. L'une de ces routes caravanières traverse le Sahara en partant de Tombouctou, au Mali, pour se rendre dans le sud du désert de Tanezrouft, où sont exploitées les mines de sel gemme de Taoudeni, c'est celle dont parle le conteur de l'histoire du moula-moula (<em>Œnanthe leucopyga</em>) :</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Procurando por anúncios da Xerox para ilustrar o post anterior, acabei encontrando vários "<strong>xeroprints</strong>", ou seja, anúncios<strong> chupados</strong>. O bom de ver essas cópias internacionais, é que o pessoal sabe escolher. Não saem por aí imitando idéias ruins, como fazem aqui no Brasil.</p>
<p>Estes anúncios abaixo são geniais. Quer dizer, o da fiat é <strong>genial</strong>. Aliás, não duvido que a agência da volks realmente tenha tido a mesma idéia, afinal poderiam ter tentado disfarçar a cópia, colocando uma mulher pedindo carona do outro lado da estrada, por exemplo. Ou talvez tenha sido descaramento mesmo, sei lá. O pessoal da Volks ainda colocou um texto, que não dá pra ler de tão pequeno. Mas poderia ser um Lorem Ipsum, que o que nos faz sentir vontade de ter um <strong>Touareg</strong> desbravador de terrenos acidentados é a imagem genial.</p>

<p>La girafe bleue a marché longtemps, longtemps pour arriver jusqu'ici... Avec ses longues pattes, ce n'était pas véritablement une épreuve, plutôt un grand défi qu'elle s'était lancé à elle-même. Elle n'allait pas passer sa vie à manger les feuilles des arbres de son Afrique natale, il lui fallait des mets plus curieux et surtout d'autres paysages ...</p>
<p>Elle marcha longtemps, longtemps. Au bout du bout de la savane, ce n'était déjà plus si simple. Elle devait devenir autre, oublier sa langue, changer de cœur et de costume. Toute charmante qu'elle fut, sa peau léopardisée ne passait pas la frontière. Il fallait s'en remettre aux seigneurs du désert pour aller plus loin. Mêlée aux dromadaires, munie de deux outres sur le dos, emmaillotée de chèches indigo, elle entama le périple le plus long, le plus amer, le plus profond. Sa vie en fut changée, comme sa peau, qui prit la couleur bleue de ses guides touaregs.</p>
<p>Enfin la ville blanche au bord de la mer, la traversée secrète, et seule, encore marcher vers le Nord. Désormais, toujours la nuit. Depuis, des traces bleues marquent son passage. Elle laisse son empreinte sur les murs des villes amies et n'aime rien tant que les rires d'enfants qui la découvrent, la caressent. On dit qu'elle ne se nourrit que de joubarbe des toits et autres sedums ou des délicieuses inflorescences du tilleul. En laissant un panier rempli de ces douceurs près de son image, peut-être arriverez-vous à la rencontrer un jour ou l'autre ?</p>
<p>Si vous la voyez, en vrai, surtout fermez les yeux, le voyage commence.</p>

<p><span class="content-article-body"><strong><em> Airwave</em></strong>'s fourth album, named <strong><em>"Touareg"</em></strong>, is highly anticipated by the fans and for a reason. Several teasers on Youtube gave away some samples of the tracks and caused quite a stir on the people who took the time to listen to it. Laurent Véronnez, the man behind Airwave has recently released quite some albums under different projects (Lolo and Cape Town), which did quite well. Now with Touareg we get 17 tracks (digitally or on two discs) which are full length, something we don't seem too often nowadays. All looks bright, but does it live up to the high expectations? Let's give it a go..</span></p>
<p><strong>Disc One</strong><br />
<strong>Notice of Eviction</strong> is a superb, Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster inspired opening of the album. The mood is dark, depressing even and this tune is probably made when L-Vee got a notice of eviction (see his blogs in 2007). A great opening for an album for sure! Next up is <strong>Punjabi Child</strong> which starts with an echanting indian vocal sample which slowly unfolds in a brilliant and moody melodic trancetrack. The pace is slow and the track tops the ten minutes, but the long build-up enhances the hypnotic feel of this tune. The breakdown introduces a brilliant melody which will please fans that liked the first disc of the previous album Trilogique. <strong>Sunshine In Your Heart</strong> is the first vocal track and features the calm and comforting vocals of Didier Likeng, a gospel singer. In the atmospheric breakdown he delivers excellent vocal work. A very smooth and original track.</p>
<p><strong>Candy Of Life</strong> is maybey the weakest track on the album, sampling the shaking of Tic Tac candy boxes. The idea is quite good, but can't keep the listener focused for the full nine minutes. A stronger or more explosive melodyline could have made this a bit more interesting. <strong>Coka's Song</strong> is a feelgood and upbeat track featuring Coka, an African artist that L-Vee met in Brussels. It's just amazing how good Coka's african voice and instrument match the great melodies in this track. A raw electro part in the middle adds some power to the tune. Superb! <strong>Mind Repair Centre</strong> is up next and is a powerfull trancer with a cool melody with a touch of groovyness. <strong>Urban Touareg</strong> is just an unreal experience, an energypacked track featuring maybey one of the best classical breakdowns in history? The beautiful classic voice grabs your throat during the breakdown and won't let go before the techy edged beats kick in and turn the dancefloor into a total frenzy</p>
<p><strong>Mahébourg Express</strong> again features Coka, the guy we know from Coka's song. The structure of this song is quite alike Coka's Song. The tune is a tad softer and happier (without getting cheesy, it's possible yes!) and is a really nice song to listen at. Most people good have thought this was a Lolo track, if it wasnt for the rawer part in the middle. <strong>Batignolles Blues</strong> is the closer of disc one and is just simply fantastic. This is a fast-paced track that introduces Ludovic Meyer on the alto sax during the breakdown. Again we are treated with a superb combo of instruments that delivers the listener a unique trip. Amazing!</p>
<p><strong>Disc Two</strong><br />
Disc two is an eight track exercise full of old hits in a new jacket. Some might call it a bonus disc, although the eight tracks really have something to offer. First we get a row of 2008 remixes of big and wellknown Airwave tracks. <strong>Save Me</strong> is probably one of the biggest tracks Airwave has released and this 2k8 remix still stands strong with it's dramatic atmosphere. <strong>Above The Sky</strong> from 1998 gets a decade treatment and sounds even angrier, including a sudden electrance swith during the middle of the track. <strong>The Division Bell</strong> is maybey the biggest surprise in the row of reworks. The original sounds really dated, but in a new jacket the melody sounds remarkably good.</p>
<p><strong>Sunday Dark Firma</strong> is a mash-up of many older Airwave track (Terra Firma, Sunday Break and Alone In The Dark, if i'm correct). A great update of these classic track that melt together in sad, atmospheric tune. <strong>Lightspeed 2k8</strong> follows it's predecessor quite close in terms of sounds and atmosphere, but can't really deliver something new. <strong>Sky Blues 2k8</strong> does deliver something new, but the electrification of this trancer didn't grow on me for some reason.</p>
<p>One of the lesser known aliases of Airwave is Sagittaire, which he introduced a couple of months ago. With this alter ego he recreates the Trilogique track <strong>Angelica</strong> (featuring Markus Schulz). The tune is stripped down to a funky and extremely deep trancetrack, really nice and dreamy! The closer of Disc 2 is really something special. Bonzai describes it as an experimental beats track and that's probably the closest that I can come too. The tune is a sort of hyperactive breakbeat track with some nifty sounds with a fantastic Haka (that''s what those Maori guys chant when they are gonna smash your back with rugby). The melody is really great and happy. Cool tune!</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion</strong><br />
With the current flood of trancemusic on the market it's difficult to search for quality music. Pure trancemusic is hard to find at the moment. But we can call Touareg a pure trance album. The passion and love for the music can be heard on this album, not only in the music but also on the few vocal performances. Everything feels so balanced, not too much vocals, not too much nonsense trance blasters. Not everything is A++, but it's rare to hear such an album nowadays with full length, umixed and unfaded tracks. The 5th of May this album will be in the digital shops, but you can also preorder at the Bonzai website. No matter what, no matter how, get this album to remember what trance was all about: emotion, passion and quality! <strong>Full score 5/5!</strong></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Depuis quelques années, nous assistons à un véritable developpement et rayonnement de l'artisanat nigérien dans differents domaines et particulierement dans le secteur de la bijouterie joaillerie</p>
<p>L'art traditionnel Touareg commence à attirer des acteurs internationaux qui viennent directement collaborer et creer des partenariats avec des cooperatives d'artisans bijoutiers au Niger, et ce phenomene va vraisemblablement s'accroitre dans les années à venir, ce qui constitue une opportunité pour le secteur artisanal nigérien.</p>
<p>L'enjeu est d'adapter les artisans bijoutiers à un niveau de production et de qualité en phase avec celui du marché international qui s'ouvre à eux. Une faiblesse est actuellement constatée dans la compétitivité de la production en termes de qualité et de stabilité notamment dans la gestion des commandes, le sur mesure et le service après vente.</p>
<p>L'idée de créer un atelier moderne de formation en bijouterie est née de la rencontre d'acteurs divers, unis par une même volonté de contribuer au developpement du Niger par la formation professionnelle des jeunes.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Energy Lessons]]></title>

<p>Let's start with a review.</p>
<p>Long time ago, in South Carolina, I learned that energy bills went up in the summer.  We all ran our air conditioners to keep cool.  I learned that gas prices went up in the summer, because people drove to their vacations.  When school started back up, the price went back down.   One summer I learned about OPEC, and how the supply of oil in the Middle East can affect the price at the pump.</p>
<p>When I moved out to the California coast, I learned that energy bills can actually go <em>down</em> in the summer!  The <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/weather/tg/wsfsumer/wsfsumer.htm">natural air conditioning of evening fog</a> cools down the house.  Just remember to open the windows. </p>
<p>Last spring I bought <a href="http://www.europeancarweb.com/news/0703_ec_volkswagen_touareg_v10_tdi/index.html">a diesel</a> SUV.  The price of diesel was less than gas and I rejoiced for months, enjoying the savings at the pump.  Last winter I learned that diesel fuel is also heating fuel.  In the winter, people get cold and turn on their furnaces, driving up the price of the diesel.  End of rejoicing.</p>
<p>That brings us to the present.   Over the past few days,  NPR provided <em>four</em> new lessons on energy!</p>
<p>One was a <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89567328">terrific piece on Kelley Greenman</a>, an aspiring young "policy wonk."  From that piece I learned that transportation contributes 17% of the greenhouse gases causing global warming, and agriculture contributes 18%.   (Correlated by a lengthy 2007 UN document -- read <a href="http://www.mikehudak.com/Articles/LivestockSA0710.html">Mike Hudak's distilled version </a>for extra credit.)  It would have been discouraging, except Kelley was so refreshing.</p>
<p>Buried <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89268675">in a business report</a>, was the interesting tidbit that the growth in retail sales was almost entirely due to the surge in fuel prices.  Duh.  If I'm paying $100 a tank to commute, I'm not going to be spending a lot of money at the mall.  A lesson in the obvious.</p>
<p>A more interesting lesson was <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89565453">an interview with Michael Klare on Fresh Air</a>, the author of Rising Power, Shrinking Planet.  Did you know that a primary motivator of the fighting in Basra was control over the oil black market?  Iraqi fighting isn't all about ethnicity and religion, but is also about good old human greed.  That part is reassuring, somehow.  </p>
<p>Even more interesting was that the Central Command and the new <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Africa_Command">Africa Command</a> appear to have been created to protect our oil interests.  Yeah, yeah, I knew that about the Middle East, but Africa?  Nigeria?</p>
<p>What was more disturbing was Michael's concern that we're approaching the state of the world before <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I">World War I</a>, with its deadly combination of alliances and meddling in other countries' internal interests.  (If WWI doesn't give you the willies, you need to know more about trench warfare and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_gas_in_World_War_I">poison gas</a>.)</p>
<p>Then there was <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89583839">the  article</a> last week describing the current "perfect storm" of world hunger.   This lesson was advanced: We have prosperity in India and China, and <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89598524">prosperity for the farmers</a> who are helped by the demand for biofuels, joining with the usual crop killers of drought and floods, to cause hunger in the parts of the world that survive on a cup of food a day.   There's a shrinking planet for you.</p>
<p>I think I've had about as energy economics as I can handle right now. </p>
<p>Today I spent $99.60 for a tank of gas that will last me a week if I'm lucky.  $99.60 to contribute to global warming.  $99.60 to send soldiers into harm's way.   $99.60 to participate in an economy that might precipitate World War III.    At least it wasn't $99.60 for biodiesel (giving to <a href="http://foodforthepoor.org">Food for the Poor</a> while contributing to world starvation would too ironic, even for me).   At least while I'm commuting, using up those 23 gallons of diesel, I can listen to NPR, and learn about something else.</p>
