…Also known as “I kinda feel like writing a post but I don’t have enough material

...Also known as "I kinda feel like writing a post but I don't have enough material on any one topic that I am currently inspired to write about". Also also known as, "damn, since the end of the Nostalgiathon my hits have gone way down and I want more pageviews."

Ahem. Yes. I have a few things to say, so I'm gonna say 'em.

First of all, the Thrift Store Gods have smiled on me yet again. About a week ago, I decided to try going to Community Thrift Store again. I'd been there before, but they didn't really have anything. This time I got some great stuff though, like-- get this --a Grimace plushie. A vintage one, even. I didn't even know they made McDonald's plushies like this.

I feel bad for just taking that person's image, but it was the only one I could find. To make myself feel better, I'll link to their auction. You, too, could have your very own anthropomorphic fuzzy purple gumdrop.

Mine was kinda dirty, but he cleaned up nice and otherwise is in good shape. Better shape than a 20-something-year-old anthropomorphic fuzzy purple gumdrop has any right to be. Also, he only cost me like, a dollar.

I also went in there looking for a Pound Puppy and I found a gray one!...in one of those bags with a bunch of other toys. However, at this store, they only mark those bags 99 cents, which is way better than the 2.98 the other places charge, so I figured, what the hell. Not until extricating him from his overcrowded plastic bag prison did I see that he had yellow paint dried onto his underside. Surprisingly, I managed to get most of it off, and he and my other Pound Puppy seem to be getting along pretty well. For now anyway.

I ended up succumbing to the bag trap again because I found a Gonga in one of them! He's a white plush gorilla that I believe was made in the late 70s/early 80s. My dad has had one for as long as I can remember, and I thought it would be cool to have one too. Plus I got a way better price than some of these eBayers are charging. Here he is, except mine doesn't have the cute little hearts.

I also got one of those giant tiger plushies. I've always wanted one, but if you buy one new, you're looking at 20 bucks. Target had them for 13, but that was ON SALE. Glad I passed up on that, because this one I found is in immaculate condition and only set me back three dollars!

The only problem with having bought this cool stuff is now I have a bunch of other toys that I didn't really want. Sigh.

Moving on. I bought more things! Which is...uh, probably why we're short on cash this month. Damn.

More Robot Heroes! This next wave has Beast Wars guys and Gen 1 guys, but I'm not interested in the BW ones, so I just snagged both of the G1 sets. I got Hound, pictured on the right, and Blitzwing (who is he again?), pictured on the left:

And the other set contains Galvatron and Sunstreaker. Why Sunstreaker? I have no idea. But here's a picture. You can kinda see Sunstreaker's hand in it. I guess that counts for something.

The Robot Heroes have been restored to their rightful place on top of the TV, along with the new additions. However, some of them have been moved over to the top of the DVD rack, because it's getting mighty crowded on the TV.

Unfortunately, there's a bit of a problem with Hound. For one thing, I keep mixing his ass up with Prowl, who doesn't look anything like him, but I continue to do it anyway for reasons I don't understand. But more importantly, he can't stand up. He just...can't. He's the only one I've had this problem with. Currently he is leaning on Jazz for support. Poor guy. I guess he drank too much Energon or something.

And finally, something completely off-topic.

A couple of weeks ago, I was up early enough to actually go out to a Carl's Jr. and find out if they still had the Cinnamon n' Raisin Biscuit. So I went down to the nearest one at about 9 in the morning, and there it was on the menu. I was so excited that I ordered two of 'em.

I had to wait on them kind of a long time, but I had nothing better to do, so I sat patiently. When they arrived, I scraped off most of the icing because I hate icing. Just like old times. It tasted like 1987 all over again except...I think they were frozen because the edges kinda tasted freezer-burnt. BLASPHEMY. Frozen biscuits at Hardee's would have been considered a sacrilege back in the day. But since this was Carl's, I guess I should've expected that.

The final verdict? If I'm up early, on the road, and need breakfast, I might consider getting one of these again. But I still think I want to try making them myself sometime. Preferably in the winter when it's not 80 degrees in my apartment.

TTFN, ta-ta for now!

Anyway.

Here's my list:

Voltron

He-man

Dungeons & Dragons

Thundercats

Blackstar

Go-bots

Transformers

Silverhawks

Here's a cool link to an 80's cartoon site. Enjoy! Long live the 80's!!!

The duo also shot down a re-appearance of Megatron: "Didn’t he get thrown into the bottom of the ocean?" Kurtzman laughed, with Orci adding, "That would be silly" in regards to the characters return.

Lastly, Orci revealed that while the first film was about a boy and his car, this one is "about being away from home. It’s a few years later and Sam is going to finally go to college and he’s going to face being away from home just as the autobots are having to deal with being away from Cybertron."

Yesterday I went to the cinema and saw The Dark Knight.

Like most people, I'm getting high expecations to movies that people have been talking alot about, saying "it's going to be great" and "holy shit it's an awesome movie". I'm really trying to just ignore that but it's hard for upcoming big movies (got very disappointed when I saw Transformers).

But anyway, well... My expecations got high to The Dark Knight but I got far away from disappointed! It was a great movie! After I got out from the salon, I just wanted to see the movie again (in a different salon though, no air contition in the one I was in). The actors did a good job but the one I think shined the most was of course Heath Ledger playing The Joker. The Dark Knight's version of the Joker is personally my favorite, he's absolutely insane and I love him. Great action scenes, very well done.

But I have some complains though. The movie was just a little bit too long. I think they could have skipped 10-15 minutes of scenes there they just talked, or give that time to the other villians that apperas in the movie. I got really happy when they appeard but like I said, they could have some more of the screentime.

Otherwise, it was a great movie! I can really recommend it and I will give it 9/10.

I noticed that there doesn’t appear to be any sort of helpful reading guide for going through

I noticed that there doesn't appear to be any sort of helpful reading guide for going through Titan Books' reprints of the Generation 1 Transformers comics, from Marvel and Marvel UK, in chronological order. So, I've done my best to compile a list of my own.

I've broken the list down into issue-runs which form a story-arc, and named the graphic novel in which they can be found in brackets. Once you reach US #56, Simon Furman from Marvel UK takes over the writing of both sets of comics, and so the run is easier to follow, by simply reading the US collections from there.

There are also some black+white reprints of later UK comics Titan Books did, but I've never tracked those down, hence why they don't appear on the list. If I do, I'll see where they fit in, and add them where appropriate.

Transformers US #1-6 (Beginnings)

Transformers US #7-12 (New Order)

I'm diving back into the movie side of the entertainment industry again. I was just watching a couple movies this weekend, and thought, "that was a badass use of that song for this scene". See as follows:

Mudvayne - Forget to Remember (SAW II) - I love the SAW movies. They bring a new twist to the gore genre. After this movie goes haywire, the credits roll and this song starts - awesome. The music video is one of the best, I think, in terms of really working with the movie. Some music videos just make random cuts to movie scenes, but this one really integrates the concept.

Rage Against the Machine - Wake Up & Calm Like a Bomb (Matrix) - They used Rage to end both the Matrix and Matrix Reloaded. C'mon, I think that's perfect. Rage...against the MACHINE....get it? ;) But also, those were cool songs to walk out of the theater with after the movies were done.

The Used - Pretty Handsome Awkward (Transformers) - Here's one that I'm not just talking about the credits. This is seriously a cool guitar riff, and it works perfectly with a car chase. Heck, I even push a little harder on the gas pedal when this song is on in my own car.

Foo Fighters - My Hero (Varsity Blues) - Ok, if I remember right, they use this song twice. Which you really shouldn't do, one use per movie only. I don't remember the 2nd time, but when the song intro starts while they are dramatically lining up for a play...that's a great usage.

Black Sabbath - Ironman (Iron Man) - Seriously, if you didn't see this coming... :P What other song would fit this movie this absolutely perfect, if cliche'. Pretty much one of the oldest songs in heavy metal and still pretty cool.

Static-X - Cold (Queen of the Damned) - I would have used any of the songs Jonathan Davis did for the movie, but I wanted to stick to songs done originally before the movie. This is one of Static-X's coolest songs. And, it fits with the whole "cold" and cold-blooded vampires. I chose not to use Deftones - Change, because they use that song in a ton of soundtracks.

Disturbed - Down With the Sickness (Dawn of the Dead, 2004) - The remake for Dawn of the Dead is pretty cool in itself. But this song fits perfectly. Sickness = Zombie Virus, wink-wink. But what really makes the song fit for me, is the use of Richard Cheese's version during the movie, its hilarious. Side note - this song is ALSO in the Queen of the Dammed.

Foo Fighters - Tired of You (I Think I Love My Wife) - Not a terribly good movie, but it does have one saving grace. This Foo Fighters song is used as a sort of theme through a couple scenes in the movie. I think those were the two times that I looked up from my computer screen to the TV screen while it was on.

System of a Down - Lonely Day (Disturbia) - Shia Labeouf is being groomed as Hollywood's future. He plays a much better nervous insecure guy than Jason Biggs. This System' song just helps to prove how bored Shia is after being put under house arrest.

Metallica - I Disappear (Mission Impossible II) - Rumor has it that Metallica was not expecting to write this song. They were under the belief that a song was done to match the movie, and that the producers just wanted Metallica's "sound" for it. The guys were on the way to the studio to record it when they learned that it was not already written for them. So in a half hour drive, they came up with a cooler song than anything in their Load, Reload, and St. Anger albums. It would also be the last song Jason Newstead would ever be a part of. I really like the video for it too. Oh, honorable mention...I loved the Limp Bizkit version of the MI theme song.

ROUND FOUR
10. Team Deeelu

This needs no further explanation/introduction. Let's continue:

ROUND FOUR

10. Team Deeeluxe selects Optimus Prime, Transformers. -- It's kind of shocking that it took Barry Bonds this long to select a robot.

11. Team Kittredge selects Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- Staying sensitive, but with some serious ass-kicking potential.

12. Team Smichovsky selects Simon Adebisi, Oz -- This pick inspired the most inappropriate jokes. By far. I won't repeat them here, but if you've watched the show, you can imagine. Think Peter Schibetta.

ROUND FIVE

13. Team Smichovsky selects...okay, before I tell you who I selected here, let me just explain myself. In retrospect, I know this was a horrible pick. I outthought myself. I wanted more good-looking woman representation, so I started thinking of good-looking women, and ended up going for one who, at the time of her show, seemed to be as good-looking a woman I could imagine. And so, ill-advisedly, I selected...Max Guevara, Dark Angel. I would do it over if I could.

14. Team Kittredge selects Veronica Mars, Veronica Mars -- I have never seen this show. Kit seemed pleased with her pick though.

15. Team Deeeluxe selects Christopher Turk, Scrubs -- GOD DAMN IT. This made the Dark Angel pick that much worse. Turk is one of the better characters in recent sitcom history, I think (not that I watch enough TV these days to say for sure), and he effectively killed any opportunity to choose anybody else from Scrubs. Personally, I'd have gone with Ted if I couldn't get Turk, but that would just be even sadder than it already was. Phenomenal pick. Maybe the best value of the draft...so far.

ROUND SIX

16. Team Deeeluxe selects Sydney Bristow, Alias -- Another show I never watched, but knew other people swore by. Jennifer Garner was probably a better choice than Jessica Alba, I'll say that much.

17. Team Kittredge selects Jemaine Clement, Flight of the Concords -- ANOTHER show I've never seen. This pick is notably for setting off tensions between Kit and Barry, and the results of those tensions would be felt throughout the ensuing twelve rounds. Yes. There are twelve more rounds.

18. Team Smichovsky selects Gob Bluth, Arrested Development -- This guy fits with Homer and Cartman, that's for sure. Will Arnett happens to be responsible for two of my favorite comedy bits ever, both as Gob, so here they are:

and

When I started this blog all those months ago, the goal was to talk about TV and its move to an online, on demand platform. Of course the most excitement (for me anyway) came from Joost. I was saddened as I felt Joost was loosing steam. As an Ubunut user I could not access Joost unless I booted into a Windows Partition, and at one point doing that didn't even work. I was getting random errors all the time, and every thing I wanted to watch was "Unavailable" It was at that point that I gave up on Joost...

Well, months have gone by, and I have a new job that required me to use a Windows XP Laptop. I begrudgingly do so, although it proudly sports and Ubuntu sticker, and today I thought, "What the hell, Let's give Joost another try" I am quite glad that I did.

Today upon sitting down, I see that there's some new cool content available to us Canadians. The biggest criticism of Joost is that most of its good stuff is geo-locked along with HULU, ABC, NBC, and everything else you'd ever want to see online... Fortunately however it would appear that a few things are sneaking through to the rest of us, so I have decided to begin adding them to the Watch TV ONLINE section and to bring you updates of whats available here.

The first show is Transformers : Generation 1 Seasons 1 & 2. If you have Joost installed you can just click HERE Otherwise, head over to Joost.com and download the client (It's small) (Sorry, Mac OSX and Windoze only)

The next item up for bids...

GI Joe. 20 Episodes of G.I. Joe, the real American Hero are also online. If you have Joost installed... Check it out here

Particularly, a lot freshly facts about 'Ultimate WALL-E' are faced, such as:

    * Was designed enclose collaboration" with Pixar animators
* Ships with a remote control (employed for programming)
* Features an "innovative touch programming system"
* Capable of "more emotional states" and "1000s of combinations" of movements
* Has infrared, sonic, and touch detectors
* MP3 compatible with inbuilt speaker system*
* Will be sold beginning this fall through ToysRUs and DisneyShopping.com

Here's the link to the news acquittance once again. I've the finding this is attending be among those productions people begin brawling across at the store...

Transformers: Revenge of Fallen

So I mentioned in a previous post that I had recently switched from being a Nokia user to an SE user

So I mentioned in a previous post that I had recently switched from being a Nokia user to an SE user and I'm lovin' it. But probably one of the best features this phone has is its focusing capabilities on its built-in 3.2 megapixel camera. I mean, yeah, I own a 10 megapixel DSLR but if you're working at an office where gadgets brought in need a permit which takes a lot of time and a lot of signatories, then your phone is the closest you can get to shooting pictures on your desk. Like what I've been doing. ^_^;;

When I need to take a break from work, I have small toys on my desk that I can diddle with (that sounds so naughty) just to clear my head. So there's my Revoltech Optimus Prime/Convoy and recently added was my Revoltech EVA-01 Type F. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a Revoltech Yoko and Figma Kanu Unchou soon to add to the bunch.

So I would make them stand around and pose like they're duking it out with each other but of course, you'd have to make the shots epic but with your limited resources, you have to make do with what you have and for me, what I have is my SE W960. The shots look nice and large but they still look quite dusty. They look much better when you shrink the pics to blog-size.

Here's the EVA-01 dashing forward to make a grab for Prime's balls, I mean, his Matrix of Leadership (ooooh, so that's what they call THAT these days *winkwink*). The camera is able to focus on Prime and blur everything else or focus on the EVA-01 and blur Prime which is quite nifty. Of course, the depth-of-field is limited but the blurring is good to be considered decent. The color quality is nice too. Not too saturated and not too diluted.

You'll notice that the EVA-01 looks livelier than when I first pulled it out of the box. That's because I put panel lines on to it just like what you see on Prime. More details in the next post.

You know what really grinds my gears?:
People who insist a movie sucks even though they’ve nev

You know what really grinds my gears?:

People who insist a movie sucks even though they've never seen it. That just drives me crazy. (Although recently I was a hypocrite of this belief, Star Wars to be more precise, until I actually saw these movies in question, and guess what, I love them.) It's especially bothersome when people claim they won't see it because it's based off something from their childhood and they've, God forbid, changed something. Oooooooooohhh. Yeah that's a sin against God.

This was especially true when the Transformers movie came out last year. Several people I know prefered not to go see it because they were infuriated that they changed some key components from the show to make it more appropriate for the movie. The flame job Optimus Prime now sports is a good example. TransFans who were familiar with the old cartoon coloration were pretty pissed with the change I'll say, although mainly it's because they weren't familiar with the reason for it. The reason: Red doesn't photograph well. That's why there's blue integrated with the red, to make it pop out more, lest it look brown in the movie, and we don't want that now do we. Some other reasons are as follows (with my added commentary as to why they are dumb reasons):

1. Megatron no longer transforms into a gun in his alt-mode. (This is stupid because, seriously, when Megatron transformed in the cartoon, he had to be held by another Decepticon in order for it to work, most often this tretcherous lieutenant Starscream. When you think about it, and I know it's been used before but it's the best analogy I can think of, it's kinda like Darth Vader transformering into his own lightsaber and having one of his stormtroopers weild him.)

2. Optimus Prime's color and alt-mode change. (The color change I mentioned before, so I'm not going to get into that again. Now as for Prime's alt-mode change, I for one think it was a good idea. For one, if Prime was his original cab-over design, he wouldn't be very tall, only about 20, maybe 22 feet tall. That and his transformations wouldn't be very impressive, which brings me to my next point...)

3. Transformations from alt-mode to robot are not exactly like the cartoon. (OK, let's actually think here for about two seconds. First off, the transformations done in the 1980's cartoon were 2-D. Now, with your mind, try converting said transformations into 3-D, or if you have no imagination what so ever, watch this:

The rendering is nice, but not very impressive transformations for a high budget movie. This why we were given the crazy Rube Goldberg like transformations, they were more visually engaging.)

2. The death of Jazz. (Well, this one isn't so stupid, although many people claim it's because Jazz was the black robot, that's what aggrevates them the most. That's dumb. Jazz is only percieved as black because after skimming the Internet for a voice and junk, he just happened to choose the voice of a African-American, thus it does not make him black. He is Cybertronian, a Transformer. The reason people probably consider him black is because of the way he acts and thinks. Well, Jazz has style, and you don't see a lot of white people with style, do you? Now, I'm white myself, and even I lack faith in the white man's creative thinking from time to time. Do you know what we got when we had a white European colony separated from the world for two thousand years? RIVER DANCE! "I can't move my head and I can't move my arms, but under the ankle I am a dancing bag of sex." (Thank you Greg Proops) Above all else he's a 15-foot-tall robot for God sake! That and come on, there are rumors flying around that he's probably going to be brought back for the next movie anyway, what with the shard of the Allspark that Prime has and all. Let it go!)

3. Cold seems to be the main weakness of Transformers, freezing them solid, but they don't seem to be effected by the cold tempreture of deep space. (Well it didn't seem to be a problem in Star Wars and no body bitched. Any science nerd can sum this solution up with just one word: water. Deep space lacks water in order to freeze shit. The only reason we would freeze should we go out into space without a space suit, would be because our bodies are 75% water. Transformers, being large metal beings, wouldn't have that problem. Plus, when the Autobots are fighting Decepticons, it's usually on a ship or a planet, probably a planet with some kind of sun and/or atmosphere, so the threat of actually being frozen is pretty slim.)

Now I'm a patient person, and personally, I'm kinda glad Michael Bay wasn't originally wasn't a TransFan, or else I don't think it would have been successful as it was. I mean it got Academy Award nominations for God sake! Now for those of you die hard G1 Transformers, personally, I don't give a fuck if you hated the movie, but at least see it before you start throwing judgement.

Cómo putié a Cablín!!

as you can see, this imported car of sorts is donning the auto-bot insignia on its hood. the color scheme on this vehicle seems to be working for itself, and doesn't look like anything completely tasteless. however, what continues to stump me is the vinyl bullshit on the side of the car. i understand that there needs to be a balance between hood and side, but you can't go from such a geometric transformers insignia to an explosion of some black gooey substance. unless its oil, which i'm sure its not, this doesn't quite work to me. well i don't know. i just wanted to share with you fine ladies and gentlemen one of my qualms. not being able to form an opinion about something is awfully exasperating, so for the first time in so long, i am going to resort to asking others for their opinion instead of interrupting them mid-sentence.

Alguém aí me arruma uma passagem para San Diego?

Por Sérgio Mentorbreak

Chegou a hora, lisos.

Ulha! A nave do Coruja.
