I think it turned out alright. Pretty positive for everyone involved and the picture was not hideous. It was above the fold on the front page of the business section. (Of course the business section is the back of the sports section, whatever.) But it was good coverage and I didn't look horrible. Yay!

Go check it out. And don't worry mom, I have a copy for you! :)

It's been kinda crazy around here lately... what with Nik's big cat shelter fundraiser and all. But it's finally done, the total is being counted, and now she (we) can take a break from that stuff for a little while. I have to say, Nik really did a fantastic job with the event, and I have heard nothing but good things about it, and about how great an event she put together. I'm really proud of her.

So I guess it's time to bust out the snacks and enjoy...

Well, its ages since I have posted on here, so I figured I’d update you with whats been going

Well, its ages since I have posted on here, so I figured I'd update you with whats been going on, Down Under.

Training is going good, I've seen some nice improvements in strength, however mental confidence has gone down a little. I did do the small wharf jump in Sydney a few weeks ago, something I've been wanting to do for a while. It consists of jumping from the land to a thin, swaying piece of wood which is about 8 feet above Sydney Harbour. The gap isn't far, however the many variables and possibility of swimming with the fishes in the Harbour make it quite a challenge. I guess that pushed my confidence up quite a bit. I remember feeling quite light headed after doing it, whether that was from the swaying of the wharf or not, I don't know!

Currently I am saving up for the National Gathering, which this year is held in Canberra - basically its 3 days of training with the locals of the city, and whoever else from around the country turns up! I'm hoping to meet people from Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and possibly Perth. But how does Wizzles have money you ask?!

I'm currently working (yay!) in a restaurant, with fairly good hours - evenings at weekends, so I have the rest of the days to train.

Also, I am training to be able to teach at the Australian Parkour Association classes in Sydney, along with other members of Sydney Parkour. I have helped run a few classes already, and hopefully I'll get my assistant instructor t-shirt soon. Should be teaching again this Sunday 13th July.

I have made a few little videos at my park and village, I think you've already seen them, but Im currently working on a Winter 08 video. I had planned to go many places in my 3 week break, like Sutherland and stay at a friends house, but that probably won't happen anymore. Oh well, I have filmed a few things at home, and will probably do some in Sydney and Penrith as well.

I went up to Nelson Bay to visit some friends for a few days last week, and last time I was up there I got my friend into parkour - so this time it was way more enjoyable. I trained in Nelson Bay and at the rocks on some beaches, but the footage I got seemed to look like I was moving slow, I think as I was pretty tired. I might put it in the video, but I feel it doesn't reflect my current level of ability that well.

And finally, my Nike Darts are getting too small =[ so I want to get hold of a pair of Kalenji's, counting on Liam for them =P

I'll leave you with some pictures of my exploits since I last posted here:

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="240" caption="Handstand"][/caption]

And finally, finally: I am just going to say thanks to the many members of Lincs Parkour who I chat to on MSN and Myspace for lots of support and training related things, it's also great to see how much the community is progressing. Particular thankyou's to Gainey, and I can't wait till you (hopefully) come and visit =]

Today my family and I went to an auction that took place at a card shop. The money that the auction organizers collected is going to be used for a trust fund for a girl whose father took his life. My dad bought 2 Derek Jeter baseball cards in plaques for $20. My sister and I bought a small collection of Beanie Babies and Disney plush toys for $25. My sister bought a Marvel Pins set for $30. I bought a Randy Savage WWF Wrestling Buddy for $35.

It certainly has been an interesting week. Chrolls, Trolls, posters coming out of the woodwork.

It certainly has been an interesting week. Chrolls, Trolls, posters coming out of the woodwork. Entertaining, no doubt, fun, absolutely. I've had a chance to talk with some of our new found friends. Hey, guess what, they are just real people with a real sense of humor. Hard to find that in Taylorland. And now that he is breaking every box office record known to man and has single handedly saved a mediocre, dying show, the loons must be on cloud nine. "I told you so, wavering in every quiver in their voice. He did it, our soul man is the best. From the stellar Broadway reviews to the rumors he will be the star in Grease as long as the run continues, to the thudmats lined up outside the stage door. What an awesome career move. He sure called it on this one. He is the star of Grease and has made a new name for himself. From singer to Broadway star. Wow! must be an amazing ride he's having in NYC. A ride any performer would give their eye teeth for. We are all so proud and full of glee. Those few remaining loons that haven't seen it yet, I encourage you to go and go often. But you better book your tickets far in advance as the show is sold out every single performance. And don't forget to be nice to the other actors in the show, I mean after all, they are so insignficant because Tay overshadows all of them. Why even bother with Grease, maybe they can teach Tay to do all the parts and then it will truly be Taylorized Grease. Still working on the hand jive I hear, idk. Well so great news is saturating Taylorland. Finally, something to cheer about. The new fans young, old, alike all clamor at the stage door for his autograph. They skip over the other performers, but you know that happens when you are the star of the show. The ushers are old and tired of chasing the cameras going off and the cell phones, so they decided that fin honor of Taylor's role in Grease, the rules would be bent and you can take all the photos you want during the performance and videotape to your hearts content. That way the ushers don't get shin splints running through the theater for 5 long minutes nastily chastising photo takers. So more good news there. At the stage door, they are gonna install TV screens for the 50 deep group of fans waiting round the block for a glimpse, waiting for that signature and picture from Taylor Hicks. The bodyguards will videotape his responses to one and all and the tapes will be sold around the corner by the guy with the cart and the raincoat on. (Mildred you truly are inspiring) .

So there we have it, our soul man has left his mark on Broadway. He has turned NYC upside down and they are loving it. Every New Yorker has or plans to make the pilgrimage to the Brooks Atkinson theater to make sure they catch Teen Angel. Pimp Daddy should be proud. For those not able to get to NY for the 5 minute miracle that is Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel, fear not, the videotapes will be made available in record stores, Wal-Mart, Target etc. The first order has been filled with over 1,000,000 advance copes ordered. This includes the stage door pheonomenon. So I am so happy for Tay and the loons. The loons are at peace now and should be deathly quiet and stop lurking and cutting and pasting. No need now, how could anyone say anything negative about Taylor. No way, no how and I won't start here, cause I got nothing. For once Morph is silent. I am stunned into silence. I got nothing. It boggles the mind. *bows head in shame*.

You know with votem gone, I can't figure out how to embed these damn videos so sorry you will have to click the link. You just have to wing it with me until her return next week. But for now, we can carry on with smiles on our faces and a song in our heart knowing that Grease was the best damn decision Tay has made in a very long time.

Diet update: This diet thing is too hard to keep up. I keep eating ice cream, and drinking Mountain Blast flavor Powerade. I just keep falling into temptation with these two things, they are like my drugs... or anti drugs coz I'd pick these over real drugs any day. Anyways, I decided that if I'm not gonna be so strict about my diet, then maybe I should exercise more, to burn the calories that I have stupidly consumed. I thought that walking more would solve this issue in a simple way. This has brought forth a big issue for me... I'm getting tanned and somewhat sunburned, even after applying spf 50 sunblock. I wish I had a treadmill, or better skin.

Now for something not so hard: My business law class is going great, except for the fact that I have part 1 of my midterm tomorrow and I'm trying to study everything last minute because my dumbass tends to sleep more during the summer instead of being awake and soaking in my sweat because my house has no insulation and it's too damn hot in here -(stops to take a breath)- and my fan doesn't cool shit, it just circulates the hot air in the room; sucks that I can't get a better/bigger fan.

Edit: The trip to the Combichrist concert is cancelled :(

Last night Brian and I ran in the Chase Corporate Challenge at RIT last night. It was my first ever race and I managed the 3.5 miles without any trouble. I was really happy with how I did. It took me 45 minutes but I think I actually ran quite a bit faster. There were over 11,000 people participating and everyone got all bunched up at the start so the first mile was r-e-a-l-l-y slow until it thinned out some. For instance it took us over 17 minutes to reach the first mile but I ran the last 2 and a half miles in about 26 minutes. I've been running on the treadmill at work for the past year or so and recently can my first ten minute mile (last Tuesday) so I was really proud of myself for doing the race and finishing well. I ran with Bri's company Innovative Solutions since they paid for my entry while the U of R wasn't covering any of the cost for their employees. I'm really glad I did it and hopefully I'll be able to do one more fun race this summer before we get pregnant.

Next Bit of News: OBX!!

In less than 24 hours we are leaving for OBX. I absolutely cannot wait. We totally haven't packed a thing yet. I'm taking a half day today and I'm going to go home and get everything together. Hopefully by the time Bri gets to the house we can just dump stuff into the van and go get some (much needed sleep). It's a 12 hour drive down to Duck and then we have to pick up keys and settle in. We're staying at a gorgeous house near the beach, with two hottubs and without Jeffrey. While I miss him terribly... I am really going to enjoy spending the week with Brian and our friends. All I want to do is lay on the couch, catch up on blogs and read the enoromous pile of books that I am bringing with me. I'll let you all know how it goes.

My blogging career, such as it is, has been quite the ride and I’ve really loved every minute

My blogging career, such as it is, has been quite the ride and I've really loved every minute of it. I had no idea when I started this thing up how much fun, laughs, tears and thought-provoking moments I would experience. The people I've met over this last almost two years are all amazing and you couldn't be more blessed than to have met all of those I have.

The fact that total strangers have become dear friends - more than friends, family in fact, never ceases to amaze and humble me. Never in a million years would I have thought such things were possible by hooking onto this whacky 'fad' called blogging.

Not long ago, it dawned on me that I have done everything I can in this place. From jokes to midnight confessions. And then of course, the next thought was, 'what next?' The obvious answer is to move on. And that's just what I'm doing. No, I'm not giving up blogging - I'm just taking the next step.

I'm moving, lock, stock and barrel, to a bigger, and hopefully better blogohood. Yup, I've taken the plunge to self-hosting. It's not really a very far drive but I have to tell you the view is amazing. I hope like the dickens, that you'll all be visiting me at my new home. The directions are here. And the drinks are free. ;)

And really, I just want to say thanks to everyone who ever walked through the door of this blog. Everyone who read, chatted, left a comment, gave me a link, blogrolled me - I've never encountered such kindness and friendship and it's truly touched me and enriched my life. And a big thank you to Wordpress for giving me this free platform for my rants and thoughts too.

So - hope to see you at the new place - real soon. Like now, would be a good time.

WC

PS: I did send out invites and I apologize to anyone I may have missed, I tried to get everyone, but I'm sure I may have missed a few.

On the evening of May 16, this blog, Michigan Redneck II, has officially made it past the 10,000 mark. This blog was created on February 23, meaning that it took 2 1/2 months to get to the 10,000 mark. It could have gotten to the 10,000 mark sooner, 'cept I have been in and out of hiatus and wasn't posting, thus not getting that many hits during that time. But I want to thank my regular readers for not giving up on me or me blog. How about a big WOO HOO!

Yes, that Rockateens 1950's classic is the song from the Vonage commercial.
