I had the great pleasure of photographing family C last weekend and man where they so much fun!  It was so nice because Mama C just knew what to do in front of the camera.  I mean, put me in front of the camera and I am like a stick figure or a deer in headlights but not Mama C!  She was so good at positioning herself and her family that everything just flowed so freely!  What a dream client for a photographer eh?

I called the Andover Public Library today and spoke to the research librarian, a woman named Leslie. I asked her about any caves in the wooded area around Andover area and she told me she wasn't aware of any, but suggested that I call back so that she can do a little research. Before she hung up though, she did say that the only story she was aware of as far as witchcraft being practiced in the woods involved Tituba and fortune telling.

The first time I saw this movie was a long time ago. It was on VHS system.  I really liked the movie at the time.

The movie includes extensive footage of the Mayan city Chichen Itza as well as Tulum.

Other than being very yummy, I also was very pleased with the color of it. I want to try to reproduce it with pigments for my screen printing project. It would look nice next to the turquoise and green that I already have mixed up. Which reminds me, I forgot to mention the classes I have this semester:

Jerry Bleem is the new weaving teacher and he is a blast! He's always making up funny songs and singing them in class. What fun! I have to finish threading my loom over the weekend so I can start weaving on Monday. I'm a bit worried, because my warp is kind of twisted, so the tension might be off, but I'll make it work.

We're making band saw boxes in woods, and I'm making mine into a monster! The mouth and eyes are all going to be drawers. I'm excited! Our teacher's kind of aloof, but that's okay.

Printed textiles is basically just screen printing. We're using stencils to create prints to cover an entire yarn of fabric. It's quite fun. I'm looking forward to taking this class for two semesters.

And Pre-Columbian Art History is your basic art history class. The materials cover cultures of the Andes (Incas), Mesoamerica (Aztecs) and the Mayan. Today in class, our teacher was talking about Andean textiles of the Chavin and Paracas cultures. I was really neat learning about the different techniques they used in weaving and embroidery. Even though it was somewhat brief and described so that non-weavers/fibers people could understand, that's okay. I'll just research some more later.

In addition to taking these classes, not to mention work, I'm also working on some wearable monster art to try and sell on Etsy or something. I only have one completed scarf, one almost completed hat (just need to add eyes), and almost finished knitting another hat. I have know idea how much to try to sell them for. We will see.
