One of my favorite things ever are pomander balls. Not only are they super adorable, but they remind me of polka dots and i LOVE polka dots! Pomanders are so versatile and can be used in any part of your venue. Whether they are hanging on sheppards hooks down the isle or on the wrist of your very adorable flower girl. They come in any size and we can usually customize them to your wedding colors.

This pomander is made of green kermit mums with teal pearl head pins. For some extra fun and whimsy we hung it from my favorite zebra print ribbon.

]]> <![CDATA[Our Labor Day Trip to Africa]]> http://momentsinthemayhem.wordpress.com/?p=2532 Wed, 03 Sep 2008 16:25:45 +0000 Kathy http://momentsinthemayhem.wordpress.com/?p=2532 Well, not the continent Africa, just the section of the zoo called Africa, but the real Africa would have been fun.  To celebrate Noah's birthday some more we decided to take a family trip to the zoo.  So did everyone else in Oregon!  It was the busiest day I have ever seen at the zoo, even during Zoo Lights at Christmas time.  We had to park in a shuttle parking lot away from the zoo, but that was actually all the better because then we got to ride the bus, which is always exciting.  Noah was very excited to go see all the "amimals" and especially wanted to see the zebras, so that was our first destination.  Africa was actually the last area of the zoo that I hadn't been to yet, so that was fun.  It's a pretty large area so we just kind of slowly meandered through there for awhile and then called it good.  We spent probably a couple of hours there, which was just about right.

A funny thing happened on our outing.  We stopped at Burger King on the way.  Scott had to run in to get a straw.  He had a Netflix DVD in his pocket because we were going to look for a mail box along the way.  When we got to the zoo he realized he didn't have it anymore.  He thought he must have dropped it at Burger King somewhere since that's the only place we stopped.  We hoped that someone nice would find it and put it in the mail for us, but were afraid we may be stuck with the charge.  On the way home we stopped just in case.  There was trash in the parking area, wrappers and stuff, and luckily I spotted the DVD!  It was kind of folded and showing the white side so it wasn't very obvious.  In fact it probably would have been swept up with the trash without anyone noticing it was a DVD.  It even looked like it had been driven over, but somehow the DVD was in perfect condition, even though the wrapper looked terrible.  It must have been our lucky day!

Really have to stop it though.

Going to the cinema tonight with MM.  He was a bit pissy last night when he first arrived but I'm sure he was just tired with all his travelling.  Later he was lovely :) awwww he's so great :D can't wait to see him tonight :) xoxo

Wszedłem do „balkonowego” pokoju i w następnej  sekundzie leżałem poturbowany, oszołomiony i zdumiony na podłodze. Czy ktoś słyszał kiedykolwiek, aby człowiek sam siebie zaatakował podstępnie od tyłu, pchnął w plecy, podstawił sobie nogę i rymnął na podłogę bez żadnej szansy samoobrony w celu połamania sobie żeber? Nie? No, to pozwólcie, że się wam przedstawię jako taki fenomen. W pokoju nie było nikogo, prócz mnie. Na podłodze nie było żadnych widzialnych lub niewidzialnych przeszkód, o które mogłem niebacznie zawadzić stopą, potknąć się i wykopyrtnąć.

Zawrotów głowy nigdy nie miałem i nie mam. O ile wiem byłem przytomny i trzeźwy wchodząc do pokoju beztrosko i bez pośpiechu. Co dziwniejsze, miałem świadomość upadania w zwolnionym tempie, co można czasem ujrzeć na filmie, gdy bohater umiera. Zanim podniosłem się, obmacałem obolałe udo i bok, stwierdzając z niepokojem, że najbardziej bolesne pod dotykiem było jedno żebro. Pęknięte, potłuczone czy złamane?

A może Stworzyciel zdecydował, że „ nie jest dobrze, aby ten stary adam uprawiał nasze doniczki rajskie sam. Trzeba dać mu Ewę do pomocy.” Moje uśpienie odbyło się w równoległym wszechświecie, gdzie czas biegnie wstecz. To spowodowało momentalne zamroczenie, skołowacenie i upadek w tym świecie. Stwórca pomajstrował coś z moim żebrem i po krzyku. „Twoje Ego-żebro, tfu, twoja Ewa będzie ci teraz pomagała na balkonie,” rzekł z uśmiechem i zmrużył jedno oko porozumiewawczo. Obolałe Ego-żebro nie dało mi spać całą noc, więc dziś polazłem do szpitala, na oddział wypadków i upadków. Tutaj śliczna pani doktór współczuła mi , obmacując moją klatkę piersiową tak czule, że gdybym był ptasznikiem to bym ją w niej uwięził. Z równą słodyczą pouczyła mnie, że złamanych żeber nie prześwietlają, bo one same się leczą tak jak złamane serca. Widząc moje rozczarowanie powzięła jednak kobiecą decyzję, pogadała z panią od Roentgena i po kilkunatu minutach mogłem obejrzeć na własne oczy bardzo fotogeniczne zdjęcie moich żeber, gdzie nie było złamań ani pustych miejsc, ale w jednym miejscu była jakaś podejrzana mgiełka. „ To twoje serce,” wyjaśniła uwodzicielskim szeptem i uścisnęła mi dłoń na pożegnanie. „Oddychaj głęboko i namiętnie,” dodała, wręczając mi pudełko potężnych pigułek przeciwbólowych. Dycham, dycham...J

We were so excited especially my little brother, Ahmad Ali and my little sister, Anisah Afifah as it was their first visit to the zoo.

We arrived there at about 9:40 a.m. and headed straight for the ticket counter. The tickets cost RM15 for adults and RM6 for children. As we were crossing the bridge near the main entrance we saw tall giraffes - my siblings and I screamed with excitement. We rushed there and were welcome by a flock of milky storks.  What an awesome sight it was to see the beautiful birds flocking all around the lake. Next we were welcomed by elephants, Pademelons kangaroos and ostriches.

At the bird aviary we saw birds of all sizes and colours. I just love the colourful 'burung nuri' or alouette in French and we started to sing our favourite song- Alouette. Next we saw deers, lions, tigers, buffaloes, camels and many more.  It was nice to see the orangutans clinging to the pillars while sleeping in their 'tree house'. Anyway some parts of the zoo were closed for repairs.

At the Savannah Walk, we saw another group of giraffes eating their food, zebras, antelopes and rhinos. We also saw a gigantic turtle that could be around two hundred years old. Next, we saw mousedeers, goats and a tapir. At the end of the Savannah Walk is the bear complex. There are Brown Bears, Malaysian Sun Bears, Asiatic Black Bears and Sloth Bears. Most of them are sleeping. Now I know why Winnie The Pooh is so lazy!

On the way to the  Multi-Animal Show, we saw monkeys and lessers in big cages swinging from branch to branch, fishes and humboldt penguins.  The show started four minutes late and the performers were three colourful macaws and two sea lions.

After the show, we headed towards the Children's World which is something like a Petting Zoo. Among others there are birds, ponies, scorpions, chickens and porcupines. At the reptile and amphibian house we saw snakes, crocodiles, frog, terrapins, turtle and tortoise. We saw leopards and pumas but there was no jaguar- my little brother Ahmad Ali wanted to see a baby jaguar as in his favourite TV show 'Go Diego Go'. Before heading home mum bought us delicious creamy ice-cream; I guess ice-cream to zoo is just like pop-corn to movies.

We had a wonderful time at the zoo and learn a lot of things too. Anyway I feel very sad to see run down buildings in the zoo complex. The government is proud of KLIA, the Petronas Twin Towers, The Sepang Curcuit etc  but look at our National Zoo- what a shame. I hope our government will see  the importance of getting the zoo in good shape for it is a very educational place to visit especially for kids like me. Not everybody can afford to pay the entrance fees to places like the KLCC Aquaria and other expensive places to learn about animals so the government has to take actions towards saving and upgrading the National Zoo for it is one of a few affordable places for family outing in KL. Furthermore the place is so beautiful especially the grand old trees, the lake and the streams.

The reason for this is that one of the main products I am involved in publicisingis branded around Zebra's - and I have to say it has meant I can have a lot of fun!

But anyway, onto what else has been going on in my life.

I have finally started socialising with people outside of home anduni - not that I'm getting much of change to socialise with either of them at the moment. Everything organised by Uni peeps seems to be on a weekend when I am away, otherwise engaged, or dead. Similarly, the one weekend I have managed to get home during this manic summer, none of my friends have been around, and when they were, I wasn't! It's incredible, but I hope that I'll be bale to see both lots at some point soon - and I issue sincere apologies to those I have neglected through my busy life and legendary incompetence.

However, last weekend I went for "a few drinks after work" - which involved taking on most of Leamington's bars on an empty stomach, armed only with a sorely abused cash card and what remained of my wits. It was me, Jen and Valerie from work, as well as Cie and her work mate. A somewhat odd and Small bunch, but it really worked. Many drinks, amusing dances, and hilarious situations later, I found myself far too drunk (in my defense I am a crazy drunk anyway, don't know why I do it, and I was doign all this on an empty stomach!). I consequently had a big go out Ben (and he didn't do anything) and Cie!! I felt very bad the next day, but as is always the case with thus sort of thing, al I can do is vow to only drink to the tipsy stage, or only drink redbull, and apologise lots to those who my crazy flipside has hurt.

Tipsy is more fun than drunk anyway!

Guess what?

The finding a flat situation, which hasn't been going particularly well, may have taken a turn. It, of course, may also remain exactly as it is, but there is the potential that me and Ben will be looking into buying a house - somewhere in need of doing up (a cushion in case the property market starts rapidly going down), but where we are paying for it, rather than just pissing rental money up against the metaphorical brick wall. I love that phrase. I also love built like a brick shithouse, pushing the boat out, and more. But I digress.

We might (a very hesitant might, we haven't even had any meetings with banks to see if we could get a mortgage) get a house one day!!!

La prima întrebare răspunsul e DA, la a doua e NU. Am făcut acum nici nu mai ştiu când şcoala de şoferi, cred că 4 ani, am luat carnetul din prima, am condus apoi de vreo 2-3 ori şi odată am crezut că o să mă răstorn cu Dacia lu' tata într-un viraj brusc. Conduceam numai duminica, iar alături de mine se afla tata care mă făcea să îmi doresc să mă dau jos din maşină şi să o las în intersecţie. Lipsa lui de răbdare a creat lipsa mea de nervi şi curaj. Am pretextat apoi că vreau altă maşină şi nu mai conduc această Dacie. De atunci au trecut ani buni, Dacia e tot în curte, iar eu sunt pieton şi uzitez RATT-ul. Acum îmi doresc să fac această investiţie, dar curajul de a conduce e ca un rezervor gol. Cred că nu am încredere nici în mine, dar mai ales mi-e frică de ceilalţi nebuni din trafic.

Scriu despre asta pentru că, de săptămâna asta, mă tem să fiu şi pieton. Stupidul accident în care e murit Lucian Reja m-a adus la această stare. Şi aşa aveam momente când îmi imaginam în intersecţii că unul e prea aproape de altul, că acuşi scoate pistolul careva şi îl împuşcă pe altul. Făceam repede o ştire în mintea mea încărcată de cine, ce, unde, când, cum, sunam la o anumită televiziune şi ... îmi reveneam din sumbra închipuire, pentru că nu se întâmpla nimic grav.

Am obiceiul de a "forţa" intrarea pe trecerea de pietoni, pentru că mă simţeam în siguranţă nu doar să fiu pe trotuar, dar şi pe zebra aceea. E dreptul meu să trec strada prin locuri marcate, îmi spuneam, şoferii să aştepte până trec. Mi-am dezvoltat obiceiul de a folosi cu tupeu zebra şi mă enervează foarte tare inconştienţa celor care sar printre maşini în trafic şi cei care taie bulevardele prin locuri nepermise. Uneori o fac cu cărucioare sau copii de mână.

Acest tragic eveniment ne-a afectat pe toţi. Cred încă în dreptate, nu mă îndoiam că acest Cocoană va fi pedepsit. Gura lumii e prea puternică atunci când există solidaritate. Şi apoi iarăşi m-am demoralizat amintindu-mi de cazul Păunescu: 3 morţi pe trecerea de pietoni şi cocoana a scăpat.

Sper, încă sper, că nu se va muşamaliza acest dosar, deşi pedeapsa maximă de 5 ani este aproape banală pentru ce ar trebui să primească acest cocalar cu Ferrari.

Dzisiaj nie mam nic do napisania, dlatego umieszczam tylko powyższy komiks. Ostatni wpis o Polbanku zyskał dużą popularność. Sława! No tak, bo przecież ten blog powstał po to żebym był sławny nie? Wywiady w telewizji, ten podpis podczas wywiadu "najsławniejszy blogger w Polsce", nagram własną płytę, chociaż nie umiem śpiewać, zatańczę, chociaż nie umiem tańczyć i zagram filmie chociaż nie umiem grać. Ale oczywiście to wszystko tylko dla sławy. Mam nadzieję, że wyjaśniłem już, że prowadzę ten blog tylko dla sławy. No... a w ogóle dzisiaj byłem w sklepie kupić bułkę. Po co? Dla sławy! Żebym miał o czym napisać na tym blogu! No! :D

I jeszcze coś: morał do komiksu jest taki, że wiadomo, na drogach trzeba uważnie jechać, bo jakie drogi mamy to każdy wie, a ludzie też niestety przez te drogi muszą przechodzić. Dlatego postarajmy się jakoś współżyć.

The “Safari” is the popular name for the Zoological Center of Tel Aviv – Ramat Gan, an African park and zoo located in the heart of Israel.  The park is home to the largest collection of animals in the Middle East.  It covers 250 acres of land and houses 1,600 different species from around the globe including mammals, birds and reptiles.

When you enter the park you drive down paths lined with hippos, flamingos, ibex, gazelles and more—an ostrich even tried to get in the car with us!  The Safari zoo contains tigers, bears, elephants, kangaroos, camels and every type of monkey or bird you can imagine!  When you leave the park you enter back into the wild—driving on paths past zebras, rhinos and even a pride of lions!

I put together a video of some of my favorite animals from the Safari.  Watch and enjoy!  Suffice it to say, I highly recommend that you visit the Safari on your next trip to Israel.
